Hi everyone,
First of all, I apologize for my english.
I am facing an issue with my tab. I decided few days ago to flash LineageOS on my tab (Vanilla), it works perfectly but now I got a problem when I want to transfer files (pictures or apk for example) from my computer to the tablet. When I copy / paste the file, the progress bar from the popup stucks and do not progess for few seconds and after that the popup close and the file has not be transfered.
Did you guys have got the same issues and achieve to find a solution ?
I already enable USB debog and when I connet the tab to the computer, I select MTP mode and I give ADB access to the computer when the tab ask for it and I have no issue to transfer files from the tab to the computer.
I am on LineageOS 14.1 (14.1-20200623-NIGHTLY-chagallwifi)
Root with Magisk
Thanks for your help
That's weird,my tab work perfectly normal (Deathly),it shouldn't have that problem unless a microUSB/USB port or cable problem. In the time, try this app if you want file transfer, work best on usb-ethernet or 5Ghz wifi https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=x.WifiPCFileExplorerFree

Hi all,
(Note from OP: Can't change thread title, but if I could I would change "solved" to "proposed solution", because that's what this is: a kind of workaround.)
First, to the best of my knowledge, the Hardware ID problem when connecting the Note II to a PC via microUSB cable isn't yet solved; my apologies if it was.
I got it to work on my Rogers i317M model (like at&t) but I've no reason to think it won't work on other models.
The solution is Kies, but not in the way one might think: yes, Kies provides the solution, but to do this you won't actually be using the Kies software—just gonna borrow it a little while .
First, install Kies on your PC if it isn't already; it wasn't for me as I never use it normally. You can download it from the support pages of Samsung's website (look for a "useful software" link I think), but goo.gl/h6fwMI is a direct download link to the one I used. Note that it takes its sweet time installing, about three full minutes (which feel like 30 or so) . . . do not have your device connected to the PC during installation.
The key feature we're exploiting here is that Kies will hook your PC up with whatever it needs to have the Note II communicate via USB properly with it. Before stumbling on this method, I had the Samsung drivers installed alright, and all I was getting when connecting was the Hardware ID message, like I know many others do. Note that I did not remove the old Samsung drivers before installing Kies . . . not saying it has to be done that way, just saying that's how I did it.
Once installation is complete, close Kies completely; for me that meant popping open the Windows Task Manager (right-click the taskbar or [Ctrl] [Shift] [Esc]) and manually killing two (2) Kies processes, on top of closing the Kies app window itself of course.
Now try connecting your device with the cable . . . you will probably get a Windows AutoPlay popup . . . go into Default Programs > Autoplay Settings and you should see the phone at the very bottom of the list (Figure 1. attachment) . . . configure it to Open device to view files using Windows Explorer as in the figure.
Now when you connect your phone to your PC, Windows Explorer will pop open a file window, which is what we were looking for, and there should be no sign of the Hardware ID problem. The window that will open will look like Figure 2.—take a look, you'll see it doesn't assign the device a drive letter as expected. Instead, it will show up under Computer as its own device, bearing two "drives": Card and Phone (if there's no external SD card in your device you'll just see Phone). Click Phone and you're ready to go! (see Figure 3.).
Two further considerations:
I don't suggest uninstalling the Kies software afterward. I set about doing so (using Revo Uninstaller) to see if I would still be able to connect, and the first popup I got said "Uninstall SAMSUNG USB Driver for Mobile Phones?" That didn't sound encouraging, so I aborted it, and for now I suggest leaving Kies installed, at least until and unless someone tries it and reports back with a verdict.
As a followup to the previous point (a consolation prize, you might say :laugh, you can prevent Kies from starting up every time you boot your computer, so that, even though installed, it will be inactive and out of the way. You need a startup manager of some kind. Windows has its own somewhere—msconfig maybe—but I used the one in the Auslogics® bundle and found no less than four (4) items added by the Kies installer which I had to uncheck (see Figure 4.). I may be keeping Kies installed, but I can at least make sure it's quiet
In short:
1. Install Kies
2. Stop all Kies-related activity:
· the app itself (if running)
· two (2) processes
· four (4) lines in Startup
3. Connect phone to PC with USB cable
4. Configure Windows Autoplay to "view files" when you connect
5. Do the dance of joy
The end result is pretty much that any time you connect your device with your PC via USB cable, a window with the file contents of the device will appear, allowing you to cut/copy/paste/move files at will, at the cost of a piece of inactivated software residing on the PC.
I'd be interested to hear how it goes with others... good luck!
Hey guys
I was debloating a Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (SM T211M) for my uncle and I accidentally uninstalled the MTP service apk... Now it's unable to transfer files to PC via USB.
Yea, I know I should've backed up as soon as I had finished rooting, but I was in a hurry
Can anyone please get it of your device and upload it for me? Package name was "com.samsung.android.mtpapplication" I think.
EDIT: Don't need it anymore, I've got it from a stock image I downloaded
Hi guys,
I hope i am in the right place...
I have an android system installed in my Mitsubishi, but the local importer of the system, has "locked" the system by removing the Google play app, file manager and all ability to make any changes.
Is there a way I can add back the Google play so i can add a few apps to the system? The system has a USB port.

no not really
without a file manager
I was going to say - put a file manager app on to the usb - I would have provided you with a file manager app
wait for usb files to show up and install app but
a file manager would be needed to show the USB and install an app manually anyway
I mod android and I have my own rom but I can't think of anyway other than....
having another type of app store on there
This unit has a full thread on 4pda.

You should find all your answers there. Since googling it only returns results in Russian I presume it is a unit only sold there.
Installing APK
Hi,
Did you manage to install an APK?? Or did you get any answers regarding this issue?
Just an idea because I don't have this in my car:
connect it to a laptop, and use "adb" tool to install the APK files you wish.
Question is, how would you root it after that, and whether converting apps into system apps would work in order to install play-services and play-store.
In order to fetch the APK files from a normal device, you can use my app :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lb.app_manager
Can I reply here?

Hello Goamir,
Does this android work properly with the 2016 mitsubishi outlander can you use your original gps antenna, rear & side view camera are you able to get your cars A/c settings etc on the screen? If not can anyone recommend a proper android system?
I managed to activate developer options
Today I managed to activate developer options in my car (Mitsubishi Outlander) by going to input devices -> Voice input, I played a bit with it, I set the default to English and downloaded offline recognition, afterwards I pressed the small question mark in the upper corner and there it tells you that you don't have google services, there's a button there that suggest to install it, I pressed it and later I noticed that I have developer options (not sure which step actually enabled it, If someone can repeat it step-by-step and tell it will be great).
Anyhow now i'm stuck again since I can't connect usb and push apk, I tried with male-male usb but it didn't worked.
If anyone got any idea please share.
Details I have on the device:
When you reboot it and long press the screen it takes you to fastboot mode, when you hold volume up in the steering wheel it takes you to recovery .
The model I have is Flyaudio G8508

Hi,
I got my system on my Mitsubishi updated - unfortunately i payed for it...
Still if I could help in this forum I will.
I can install any app and have full access to google play.
However some option are still missing.
e.g. when i connect my PC to the system it is not show at all.
i was thinking i could somehow create a full system backup (image) and then turn the backup to an update file.
If anyone can offer a way to enable the use option, that is that my system would appear on my pc i could try it.
I have developer option and usb debugging on via an app i downloaded.
If i can do it in any other way I can try.
Another thing i was thinking of is to create a full backup and later restore, from the recovery mode but there are only option for update in the recovery mode.
Is it possible to allow/add the restore/backup option ?
I'm on a Japanese new phone which was never rooted (but sent to repair twice for bad front speaker/earpiece and motherboard)
It currently on Android version 5.0
Japanese version 2.15.40.13
The Phone doesnt connect to the PC, I've tried normal connection with windows explorer, tried the Asus application.
The phone either appears as empty or appears and then suddenly disappears, on and off. I can't even view the contents let alone copy/move/delete. (from the computer that is)
Is there another option to move files to the computer beside dropbox? which takes up my bandwidth and is kinda slow.
I've seen on ASUS site that there are 3 official 2.20.xxx versions yet my phone doesnt recognize anything when I press the CHECK FOR UPDATE.
Is there a way to update it without rooting ? and without doing a factory reset ?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I've tried this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtQeVbKT6Zc
But I dont get the Update pop-up.
Also, Do I need to put the next available version, and update in order or just the newest/latest one ?
EDIT 2:
After a while I noticed that it didnt even copy the file to the phone.
When I connect the phone to my PC (windows 10) via USB 2.0 and/or 3.0 a folder called z00ad shows for a few sec. then disappeared.
I tried to several cables and ports.
sometimes it shows as an empty folder and sometimes I can see the folders inside but then it disappears and I get an error message.
I've got developer rights or access by tapping the kernel version.
I've enable the install by third parties option.
I've disabled the lock
disabled the screen off timer
Is it a Windows 10 thingy ? (I got the new Intel Driver for android)
EDIT 3:
Uploaded the file to Dropbox and downloaded on my phone, saved with ES File explorer to main directory, reset the phone, and now its updating. (UL-Z00A-JP-2.20.40.174-user)
When its done I will update for the next update (UL-Z00A-JP-2.20.40.183-user), and then the latest one (UL-Z00A-JP-2.20.40.185-user).
Hope Android 6 will arrive soon and that all of the problems are software related and not hardware...
Only trouble with this phone
EDIT 4:
Stuck on the INSTALLINg sYSTEM UPDATE... screen.
Its been like that for over 10 min. now, the blue progress line is stuck somewhere between the G and S (installinG System)
How long should I wait for it to finish? I saved the update file to the built-in memory, not the SD so speed shouldn't be an issue right ?
If its stuck what should I do ? Turn the phone off? Reset ? will I lose all of my files/photos?!
For this guy the problem solved itself after almost an hour...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/stuck-installing-update-t3151529
I will try to give it 2 and see how it goes
EDIT 5:
After almost 2 hours my phone was updated.
Yet still connection problems to the PC.
I'm trying the next Update, maybe it will fix this issue.
I've read online and I can't seem to find a solution.
I've tried different cables and connected to different USB slots but still, either I get no detection, or a detection with empty drive, or detection with external and internal memory but then it quickly disappears. The phone itself still keeps charging so it must be connected properly.
Has anyone else had this problem ? (I also had it while I was on Win 8.1, now win 10)
EDIT 6:
After doing the 3 available updates, manually... for around 6 hours ... I still cant connect the phone to the computer
Recently bought a used Nexus 7 LTE for my son to use after he broke his tablet. Trying to get Lineage OS on it but I cannot see it via USB on anything...
Windows 8 - Doesn't see the device at all, nothing listed in Device Manager. Device is charging off USB cable.
Tried 5 known good cables. Same cable on same computer with different devices works.
Ubuntu - Nothing shows in lsusb - Same as above, tried many cables and all charge the device but nothing will connect.
Device has USB Debugging enabled, I've also tried it disabled.
MTP is enabled, also tried the PTP with same results.
I have tried the official Google drivers as well as older drivers found within these forums.
Not even a generic or invalid device shows in Device Manager on Windows.
Used Android Studio to install Google Drivers, still nothing.
I've tried factory reset and wipe cache partitions. Never shows up.
I am assuming at this point the device has a bad USB port. I am hoping perhaps I missed something and someone knows what that is. I've culled the forums and a LOT of these had similar issues but mostly driver related. I cannot even see it to try different drivers. Some were cable but I've tried many cables that work in other devices.
Are there any other ways to connect to the device to do the OEM unlock and install TWRP and Lineage?
Device is bone stock with Android 5.1 (BUILD LMY470) - Connects to WiFi and LTE network just fine.
Fixed
RESOLVED:
Installed a Root app (KingRoot) and rooted device.
Installed official TWRP app, downloaded and installed TWRP bootloader
Downloaded latest Nightly of Lineage OS, used Astro File manager to move to root
Rebooted into TWRP, Wiped System/Data/Cache/Dalvik
Installed Lineage OS ROM.
Rebooted.
Profit.

It is an interesting workaround but the main issue is not resolved. It looks like a hardware fault, there are 3 possibilities:
1 broken data contacts of the USB port
2 unsoldered data lines between the USB port and the PCB
3 disconnected USB data lines between the daughterboard and motherboard
Most likely is #2 but the easiest is #3 which can be fixed by re-seating of the wide, silver cable interconnecting the PCBs. All you have to do:
- disconnect the battery
- unlock the cable's connectors
- pull out and push it back in
- relock
- reconnect the battery
Good luck.
Hi all,
Apologies in advance for using this post but I have a similar issue with my device. I accidentally ejected the device while I was transferring some data to my computer instead of a memory stick. Usually the computer should say operation is invalid since the device is in use however without any prompts it ejected the device.
So now when I plug my Nexus into my laptop via USB the device is recognised for a second and disconnects and then reconnects and carries on this pattern. I've tried a number of different methods that I researched online including:
Deleting the drivers and reinstalling them
Changing USB power settings
None of the above and fixed the issue of being unable to connect to my computer via USB. Has anyone come across this problem before and if so can you recommend a potential fix?

Hi, while it appears that your PC is responsible for the issue, please check the N7 on another PC or with a OTG drive. When you're sure your N7 and USB cable are OK, we can fix the PC but what OS is on it? If it is Windows then do the following:
- disconnect N7
- run "regedit.exe"
- delete these keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\Vid_18d1&Pid_4ee1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\Vid_18d1&Pid_4ee2- reboot PC
- reboot N7
- connect N7
OK?

Hi k23m,
Thank you the reply. I can confirm one of the first things I tried was connecting the device to a different laptop - where it connected properly. Both laptops are using Windows 10 and I've tried different USB cables to confirm that the wire isn't at fault either - so know my original laptop has the issue.
So I've attempted your the instructions you mentioned and the first thing I noticed was when I was in the Registry Editor there was no 4ee1 and just 4ee2. I attempted to delete the registry files for 4ee2 and came across the error messaged that states, 'Cannot delete VID_18D1&PID_4EE2: Error while deleting key.'. I had a look on the internet to see if there was a solution to deleting the files and it mentioned to modify the permissions as well as using a few programs to delete them. However after attempting these instructions still luck in deleting them.
Any further suggestions?
Thanks

Please get https://github.com/jschicht/RunAsTI and extract it, then...
- right-click RunAsTI64.exe and run it as admin
- in the newly created command window type and run "regedit"
- delete the VID_18D1&PID_4EE2 key
- search the entire registry for ALL "VID_18D1&PID_4EE1" keys and delete them (if found any)
- reboot PC!
Also, can you confirm that a different device connects properly to the faulty PC using the MTP protocol? If not, then deleting 4EE1/4EE2 will not help and the issue will have to be further explored.

Hello B3.mach, let's summarize:
N7-MTP --> PC1 /NO
N7-MTP --> PC2 /OK
phone-MTP --> PC1 /OK
Re-confirmed?
Can you see any meaningful logs in Windows Event Viewer around the time of N7-MTP --> PC1? If so, quote them. To stimulate more logs kill the MTP-responsible WudfHost.exe process while you attempt N7-MTP --> PC1 and re-connect N7.
Next, please try these:
N7-fastboot --> PC1?
N7-TWRP-MTP --> PC1?
N7-PTP --> PC1?
Finally, let's do a total clean-up of all N7's traces in the system:
- disconnect N7
- delete all "VID_18D1&PID_4EE1" keys from the registry yet again
- delete all *.inf files which contain "VID_18D1&PID_4EE1" from C:\Windows\inf\ folder
- reboot
- connect N7
It has to work now

Hi k23m,
It seems by doing a fastboot connection it fixed the issue - not sure as to why it did it but thank you!
But to confirm as I was going through your instructions -
N7-MTP --> PC1 /NO
N7-MTP --> PC2 /OK
phone-MTP --> PC1 /OK
Correct
I had a look in the event viewer during the time of the mishap and couldn't see any useful logs that related to the any errors.
So as I was working my way down to your instructions, I did a fastboot and the issue seemed to have stopped and the N7 connects to my laptop without disconnecting.
Thank you for your helpful instructions and your patience with helping me resolve the issue.
Best regards,
