Has anyone had any luck using their Watch Active2 to control their August Smart Home lock via the Smartthings watch app? I just installed this this morning.
It's working fine on my phone - I was able to connect the Android app to my August home lock, and unlocking/locking the lock via the Smartthings Android app shows the same result in the August app.
However, the goal is to be able to lock/unlock my front door with my watch when I go for a run. When I try the same thing with the watch app, it says "Couldn't perform the action"? Note I don't have a Smartthings hub, I just have the August cloud account connected to my Smartthings cloud account.
Let me know if you figured this out! Someone said it could be done using IFTTT but I have no idea where to start.
No luck. My gut is that the watch app only controls the Smartthings Hub, not the cloud account
Samsung updated the watch app awhile ago ... it works now if you're in WiFi range with the watch only (which is the case at my front door).
I'm not sure how it would act with an LTE version of the watch ... my guess is that it might work from anywhere.
I also have August lock. Easy-to-use smartphone app. Remote access from anywhere (Wi-Fi bridge and voice assistant compatibility)

I just bought this smartwatch but unfortunately my phone died and had to replace with an iphone and discovered that if you sideload apps and faces you can get almost all of the third party faces from the google play store. But read that since many of these faces neet connectivity (weather, news, etc) they may not work since the iphone doesnt work like that
But since this watch has wifi integrated, i was wondering if they could work on this and many other watches that have the same chip.
Any thoughts? I really want to install watch faces with weather and similar
WiFi is used to sync the watch with the cloud, not for receiving data for the weather etc.
The watch still needs to use phone's connectivity to load such data...
But, well, you can still try, there's Android Wear app for iOS, maybe the sideloaded apps will work anyway.

Click to collapse
Yeah i can use it with Android Wear and receive notifications but many of the manuals for sideloading watch faces say that if the watch has wifi you may have that functionality
To be honest, that's the first time I hear about that the watch's WiFi itself may be used to update weather data etc without the use of the phone...
It's worth trying but I already did a simple test and it didn't work for me using stock "Weather" app on the watch and the weather service in Minimal & Elegant watchface. They both require the watch to be connected with the phone.
I just got the Huawei Watch with Android Wear 2.0
It pairs just fine with my phone but I was having issues getting the Google Account added to it.
I forced Wifi on the watch then Google account finally was added. I was able to use Ok Google to search just fine.
The moment I am away from my Wifi though, it will no longer be able to connect with ok Google to do searches even though it is still connected to my watch and I can control things like youtube videos to pause, change volume etc.
Any ideas???
PD The exact error is can't reach google at the moment and my GOOGLE is up to date.
Just got a Samsung Galaxy Active 2 and it won't pair.. I had to manually download the galaxy wearable app from apk mirror when I went to setup my Samsung Gear Sport but that was the only hurdle. Magisk hide isn't helping, manually updated what I can tell are the plug-ins, removed everything to start fresh and still no luck. I think it sees the unlocked bootloader and that's causing this. I would hate to have to go that route to even use the watch. Any suggestions?
Edit: well crap, now my gear sport won't connect. Only difference between initial setup and now is that I'm on Android 10 and had set the sport up on 9. This sucks.
Edit 2: Got it. Samsung Accessory Service app needed to be installed. 3 apps to get it to register, new watch is working now.
Hey.
Any one else got casting problems following the July security update?
Noticed yesterday that I cant now cast to any of my devices from my Moto One Action. It may be coincidence but I was able to before. Its not the cast network or the devices themselves as they can all be seen by my Nest Hub and other phones. I have turned everything and everthing related off an on again and no luck. Even reset one of my Home Minis and tried to re-add it. It gave an error at the final setup stage and ended up in the same state as before. Only odd thing is that the VLC app can cast - it must use a different route to them. I think it may be some kind of network blocking. I can see the cast devices m my phone on the network with an IP/port scanner and throught the Google Home app but cant cast from anywhere other than VLC. Had a long chat with Google help but no luck.
Any suggestions?

Greetings,
I'm trying to mirror the screen of my Samsung Galaxy A3 Smartphone (using the pre-installed "Smart View" app) on a Sony KD-49XD8005 TV (using the pre-installed "Screen Mirroring" app) and it just isn't working. More precisely it isn't working anymore, because some time ago it did work. I can't provide many details, sadly, because it was the TV of my sister back then. I got it from her only a few days ago. Just one thing: it was definitely an older Android TV version back then.
I see the TV on my smartphone, but the connection attempt fails after 1-2 minutes. I see that a WiFi-direct connection gets stablished inbetween, then everything disappears.
I've searched on the internet in the hope to find a solution, but it didn't really work out. Most "guides" are rather useless like "restart everything, install the newest updates on everything" and so on. Some articles advice to turn off the bluetooth connection, which I did.
Some articles suggest to use Google Chromecast via the Google Home app, but that's a bit too much for what I wanted to achieve. All the privileges the app wants, all the stuff about adding "rooms" and what not... Casting via the Google Chrome browser was mentioned a few times as well, but I don't see anything related to this on my smartphone.
So from my understanding there are 3 options:
- getting the current setup to work somehow (not very likely, probably)
- replacing the current "Screen mirroring" app on the TV with the appropriate app from one of the current Sony TVs (would be my preferred solution, I think, but not sure if that works)
- installing some third party Miracast screen mirroring app from the play store (any advices?)
Would be great, if you guys could point me into the right direction here... If there is another option, please let me know. Was looking for a complete AndroidTV ROM as alternative first, but there seems not to be one as far as I saw.
Some details:
After the latest update Android TV 9 is installed on the TV. The version of the pre-installed Screen Mirroring app is 4.1.A.0.8 and it apparently originates from screnmirroring.com
Not sure if the missing "e" is a typo or if there was such a domain at some point. Currently I only can reach screenmirroring.com (with double "e") and this website is about an app called "Castto" from SoomApps, so it's something different, apparently.
Before this TV I had a very old one (not even a smart TV) and was using an Amazon FireTV stick 4k on it. Screen mirroring with the stick was working just fine. Also mirroring the screen of a tablet is working fine with the FireTV stick, so it's the TV, that is causing trouble, not the other devices.
Have you tried Chromecasting to the TV? I Chromecast to my 900e from various devices, including a Samsung tablet.
