Hi All, I've done some googling but I haven't quite found the right answer to my question. Right now I have a Viva Roav Pro in my car and a Android Auto compatible head unit. If I ask Alexa to play music either via the steering wheel controls or the Roav, music starts streaming via the Alexa app. However as the Alexa app isn't one of the music apps with Android Auto integration, Android Auto doesn't offer controls to skip tracks etc - worse, if you try to, music will stop streaming and Android Auto will take over with whatever was playing last on Android Auto.
As I use Amazon Music and have the app, which DOES integrate with Android Auto, all I really need is for Alexa to open and play my request from the Amazon Music app as opposed to the Alexa app, but I've not figured out a way of doing that. Anyone else got any ideas?

Does anyone know if there is a way (running Malaysk ROM) to make starting music programs (e.g. I use Spotify, MS Groove, podcast players) to switch the MCU mixer to music?
For example - Currently when I am listening to radio and I want to listen to Spotify, Groove or a podcast player next I click the corresponding icon in the launcher but the radio remains on so I have to open the launcher a second time and click Music to turn off the radio/switch android feed to stereo. I would like clicking the Spotify, Groove, etc. icons to do that automatically.
I'd be interested in this as well. I thought that I could do this with Tasker, basically kill the radio app when spotify starts but I don't know what app to kill to make the radio stop.
Killing apps won't help with anything. We need something to switch the MCU audio.
I was operating under the impression that the radio audio stream was coming from an app. However the radio being a hardwired audio input seperate from the Android audio stream would explain why when I reboot the HU the radio keeps playing while it reboots.
I found my solution. I upgraded to a Dasaita MDCD PX5 (OctaCore) with Android 6 and it switches automatically - i.e. Hitting the play button on Spotify turns off the radio, pressing the radio button while Spotify is playing pauses Spotify and so on
Whenever I get in my car and my bluetooth connects, google play music just starts playing whatever was last on on Google Music App. I'm a spotify user and would like to change the default from Google to Spotify. I can't seem to find a way to stop Google music from playing by default. It's very annoying. Works great if you use Google music, but otherwise, annoying.
Anyone having this issue? Anyone have a fix?
AFAIK there isn't a way to prevent media autoplay when connecting to (certain?) car stereos.
Interestingly enough, I don't think that the behavior is actually specific to GPM. I usually listen to podcasts in the car rather than music, and as long as the phone hasn't rebooted or GPM hasn't been used since Pocket Casts was playing, my podcast resumes when I get back in the car usually even if the notification has been closed. It may be the the Spotify app is missing some hook that allows it to take advantage of this feature, but I don't believe we have any way of affecting it directly.
BRO. This **** happened to me for like a week straight and I was getting pretty angry. I made the mistake of asking Google Assistant to play a song for me ONCE and every time I connected to a bluetooth device (usually my car) it started playing the song from where it left off. I don't know what I did to make it stop to be honest, so I'm not much of a help but I can confirm this is a very annoying issue.
I did NOT, however, uninstall Google Music, Disable it, or touch the app in any capacity. There's no option to prevent it from autoplaying, either. I might've let the song play out, but I'm afraid to open the app again to take a look.
Hello,
I have a Motorola Moto G3 ('Osprey') and have installed Lineage OS on it (currently on 14.1-20170413-NIGHTLY-osprey). The new OS is great but I cast to a couple of Chromecast Audio devices fairly often and have noticed the following changes since installing Lineage;
- Previously it was possible to adjust the volume of the music playing from Google Play Music to a Chromecast Audio with the screen turned off by rocking the volume rocker on the 'phone. Now the screen has to be on (i.e. it's necessary to press the on/off button before the volume rocker.)
- Previously it was possible to 'take over' a Chromecast Audio session from another Android device; by opening up Google Play Music and casting to the devices that are running the playlist and the song that is playing would appear. Now this is not possible.
The 'phone was running the standard Android Lollipop before I installed Lineage. Is it possible to regain the functionality that I had before? I don't know whether it's relevant but I installed open_gapps-arm-7.1-stock-20170326 and the 'phone is rooted.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Bit more detail on item 2 above; if there is music playing from another 'phone on a Chromecast Audio then it possible to see what is happening from my 'phone, you can pause the music and mute it but can't do anything else. Previously it was possible to take over the session and control it in the same way as if you had initiated it.
Hi All,
Recently purchased and installed a Joying head unit (4GB, PX5 Octa Core) (link to product)
I use google music for all my music needs. I have uploaded all my personal music onto the google music cloud servers so I can stream or download them whenever I want making it an ideal solution. I installed the google music app on my android head unit and everything works great appear from one small thing.
The steering wheel NEXT and PREVIOUS buttons are not responding on the music app. Its killing me cause at the moment every time I have to change a song ive got to touch the screen (not ideal when driving).
Volume buttons work fine but ive tried different things to try and get the other buttons to work within the app like button re mappers via the app store etc.
Does anyone know of any way to get the NEXT and PREVIOUS song wheel buttons to work with the google music app. I will love you so much
I think its a software thing with the app cause poweramp and some other music players work with the wheel buttons. If this is the case I was hoping that there is an app that can run in the background which can pickup the wheel buttons and translate them so they work with the google music app.
Any assistance would be great. I hope someone can help.
There is such an utility in the MTCB software thread, but for Spotify. Didn't follow that up, maybe the developer wrote a version for GM also.

I have a Dension GW52MO1 500S BT (adds BT media streaming to older german cars) that has play control problems just with Google Play Music. If I listen to YouTube or BeyondPod, Neutron etc it works correctly. What happens with Google Play Music is the first couple of seconds repeat over and over again. Also if I stop the music it immediately starts playing again (repeating first couple of seconds of track). I can get it to work by turning off Bluetooth between one and 4 times, each time waiting for it start playing by itself.
This behavior does not occur in our other car that has the Pioneer DEH80PRS.
This problem is a bug in Google Play Music, there is a Google Product Forum post on it
https://productforums.google.com/forum/?noredirect=true#!topic/play/FKxS7t1W1dA
My question is: Is there any tool I can install on the Pixel 2 XL to help me work around this issue? I tried using Tasker to automate turning Bluetooth on and off but it when I do that the repeat 1st second problem doesn't resolve itself like it does when I do it manually.
The Dension does not appear to have a way to turn off the autoplay (resume) feature which I think interacts with the bug in Google Play Music to cause the issue.
Thanks
