So, I'll start with my build # PCX29. 159-21-3
I have the OEM unlock option in my dev options and it's toggled on, but whenever I go to try and unlock the bootloader via Motorola's website I'm not able to? Is there a way around this, and why would the OEM bootloader unlock option even be there if I can use it?

Whenever I've unlocked a bootloader, it wipes the device. I'd rather do that before I set it up with my apps and accounts.

Correct me if I am wrong but every phone comes with a locked bootloader even the nexus line you need to unlock. We really need to stop calling encrypted bootloaders locked. So this phone isn't encrypted but surely it is locked.
Our G3 is the only one that's unlocked.

I'm confused I have an note 3 verizon. I am trading in my note 3 becaues of lock down bootloaders. will the G3 be easier to unlock? I have been reading that T moblie is the only one that comes unlocked.... Hmmm need some help befoere I jump Thanks
Guys. There is a difference between unlocked and unlockable. This being unlocked means there's nothing really to do. That's why it's so unusual.

I believe It's unlocked. Rooted with twrp
Unlocked, just rooted and installed twrp, nothing else to do about it.

Not likely either. I've seen several folks get OEM unlocking turned on, but then fastboot commands still don't work.

The Pixel took two years for root to come out, is it likely it will come within this year?
any one who stuck with "device not eligeable for bootloader unlock" can follow this link:
h t t p s://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-b
put your unlock token and, surprisingly you'll get an unlock code through your email
i try it on my sprint Z² force and worked, ihope so for others

That largely depends on if you have a "google" or "verizon" variant device. If you can enable OEM unlocking in developer options, then you should be able to unlock the bootloader.

First, make sure that you can enable "OEM unlocking" in the developers options settings section. If you can, then unlocking the bootloader and installing roms is not that difficult provided you have a good understanding of how fastboot works:good:

Go here and enter your IMEI: https://www.verizon.com/od/prepaid/bring-your-own-device/#/checkDevice
It will tell you if it's a Verizon device, or a "NON-VZW" device

My phone is not a Verizon variant (NON-VZW), however it was bought from Verizon and cannot be unlocked. Is there any way around that? (Since Verizon says and several other IMEI checkers don't say it's a Verizon only variant).

For me, it's kinda difficult to identify now as there is no app or setting from Verizon on it, tired checking it on Verizon but their IMEI checking page is down. If yours is non Verizon, unlock oem shouldn't be grayed out by default. I'm not expert on it thoug.
I bought a NON-VZW phone and enabled OEM unlocking, but after I put my Verizon SIM and an update happened, it got grayed out before I could unlock the bootloader. Is there any way to put it back on older software? It is still marked as NON-VZW in the IMEI thing.

Maybe try taking the SIM card out, factory resetting and then see if you can enabled OEM unlocking and USB debugging. If so then unlock the bootloader before putting the SIM back in. Won't put you back on an older software but may allow you to unlock the bootloader.

You don't need an unlock token. There is no TWRP for oneplus9pro yet. Follow this guide. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...der-install-custom-recovery-and-root.2788632/

Ahhh. That is different but that's on TMO not OP.
This is just objectively false information. The "Fastboot OEM Unlock" command is depreciated and has been replaced by "fastboot flashing unlock" and regardless neither are applicable unless the bootloader can even be unlocked, which it can't be without the Token.
They both work, I have tested both commands.

No, it's on OP. T-Mobile's part is to sim unlock, allowing the oem unlocking option in dev options. OP is the one providing the token, and they essentially make you wait a week for no reason.

Correct, back in the HTC One days you had to apply for a token but it was emailed to you within a few minutes. This week+ nonsense is exactly that, utter nonsense.

No one called you stupid, but nitpicking over which unlock command to use is a pointless debate when Shane still doesn't have the unlock token in the first place.
Well I've been on OP since OP1 and I've never requested a bootloader unlock. However I've never bought an OP phone from a carrier. Perhaps that's why.
