I have a Motorola Atrix that is locked and I am not sure were to begin looking for a solution.
it is stuck on the screen that says "Starting RSD Protocol Support"
I have revoved the battery countless times trying every way to start the phone into any mode where i can do something.
I have tried holding the power button while pressing the up volume, the same thing with down volume and nothing works. I have looked into several methods to root this or get into it somehow but everything I have checked into requires you to put the phone into usb debugging mode. and that is not possible.
does anybody have any ideas ?
Thanks
I have F240 stuck in boot loop. I flashed a custom rom (I don't remember its name but I heard it mimics G5 on G Pro) and I forgot to wipe. That caused a boot loop.
I tried pressing all buttons along with power button, but that just gave me a black screen, which would reboot when I let go of buttons. So I tried Pressing VolUp+VolDown and connected USB cable, and it just charged. Yeah, it went to charge screen.
To confirm those black screen wasn't recovery or anything, I tried
Code:
adb wait-for-device && adb reboot
on Command Prompt, tried several things, resulted nothing.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Tell me anything! I'll do that!
@minary Usually, you can enter download mode even if the screen is black.
You will only be sure when the flashing tool start extracting the kdz. Thus, indicating that the phone is recognized.
So you can go back to stock and start all over.

Thanks a lot! But sadly, I have solved this problem. It wasn't anything related to software. Actually, it was a hardware problem, a very common one that is. The Vol- button wasn't working! USB also had a hard time connecting it.
Thanks for the answer though. I really appreciate it.
Hi,
I'm pretty sure my Mi 5s doesn't support EDL mode. I tried to get into EDL mode in every way I found online.
When I try to enter EDL mode, my phone simply restarts back to the OS.
My bootloader is unlocked, this is what I've already tried:
Enabling developer mode + usb debugging, and use command "adb reboot edl"
Using this special script in fastboot mode: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/guide-reboot-to-edl-mode-fastboot-test-t3398718
Combo buttons while phone is turned on: Volume up + Volume down + Power button, and leave power button after few seconds
Combo buttons while phone is turned off: Volume up + Volume down + Power button, and leave power button after few seconds
Reboot windows with "disabled driver signature enforcement" feature
Re-installing the drivers in MiFlash, including the qualcomm driver
In my understanding I am supposed to see a black screen, or a flashing red led, but non of these happen for me, simply restart back to the OS.
The reason I need to enter EDL is because I must flash persist partition again. When I tried to fix my fingerprint sensor I tried multiple things in order to flash the persist partition, but without success. Eventually I accidentally deleted all the persist partition content. So then I re-installed the latest MIUI china dev and hoped the persist will be fine, but now my fingerprint sensor, proximity sensor, and adaptive brightness doesn't work, perhaps other things that I didn't find out yet.
I tried following this thread: http://en.miui.com/thread-478922-1-1.html , thanks to david_korku help.
When I try Part I, and use "fastboot erase persist", I get "FAILED (remote: partition write protected)" error.
When I try Part II, I can't finish it because I can't enter EDL mode (because of the reasons I wrote above).
Please help, can someone help me figure out how to flash the presist image? and maybe even enter EDL mode? (if it exist on my phone)

UPDATE:
I finally managed to get into EDL mode and got everything fixed!!
This thread can be deleted.
I updated the rest in my other thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5s/help/firmware-to-fix-fingerprint-sensor-t3653847

Link is not workint, can you explain please!
edit : i was just now able to enter its bootloader i think?
i see white screen with options to go into bootloader/recovery etc.
what i did was , i press and held power+volume up and down buttons at the same time.
But the thing is, the moment i try to enter recovery menu and press power button on it , it then starts the loop again..

I've got the same thing and don't know any way to fix it, tried everything.
Only found this post where the guy managed to somehow fix it, but I don't manage to extract the rom.zip, as if it's no longer made like that, the post is from 2016.

Please let me know if you manage to fix it..
Hey all,
Hope you've been keeping safe and well.
So I was flashing the new PixelExperience ROM - and seems like I made an error somewhere along the way.
I'm looking to return to stock, and then give the process another shot - but at the moment my phone is stuck in a bootloop.
The bootloader is unlocked - and the boot goes through the following screens before rebooting:
1. Samsung Logo
2. "The phone's bootloader in unlocked....Press power key to continue"
3. Samsung Note 10+ Logo Screen.
I'm trying my best to try and boot into either download or recovery mode, but to no avail - it just restarts the bootloop on each combination I've tried.
Any solutions on how to get moving with this?
Thanks!

Timing will be the key. To help out, boot up as you have been, but as early into the boot cycle press and hold the Vol - and power button for up to 5 seconds (until phone manually shuts off) [it will actually reboot the phone])), then the instant it powers off and begins to power back on (try a few times to get used to the timing) press and hold the key combination for recovery or download mode. In my experience whatever combination you go with while booting, the power button only needs to be held for the first 5 seconds or so of the combo button press/hold.
The other button, Vol+ or Vol- should constantly be held until desired mode begins to load.

Thanks for your quick and detailed reply man, appreciate it.
Still trying, new cords, ports, the whole buffet. Will keep at it.
Major flag though - my PC doesn't recognise the phone anymore, checked the USB ports in Device Management and nothing comes up. I've tried different cords and ports to no avail.
I have a feeling that because the device doesn't think it's not plugged in - it doesn't boot into recovery.
Just another detail - the flash goes on just before the reboot. Does this signify anything?

I'm not familiar with any significance the flash may point to. You've probably already done this.....but be sure to reboot PC....
Have you tried booting to recovery yet?
