Need help with samsung health - Samsung Galaxy Watch

Hi all,
I have a;
-Samsung galaxy s7 SM-G930F exynos
-Samsung active 2 watch SM R820
I want to use Samsung health but i have tripped knox.
Im on the most recent stock firmware 8.0 without root.
I cant root again because of a faulty usb port i can only charge.
I have tried;
-rooting with kingoroot without pc
(App crashes when starting root)
-installing the patched Health app by xpirt
(App crashes on install)
-editing the build.prop ro.config.tima=1
(App doesnt find the line)
Any ideas? Or do i need a new phone.
Thanks

Not tested yet...
IMHO Magisk or something like this...
I have to use Google...
But IMHO you not the only user with Knox 1 on Phone...
Best Regards

I need custom recovery for magisk and i dont think i can install a custom recovery without root or without odin.
There are enough solutions but i cant flash anything because of the faulthy usb

My fault.
I thought meanwhile something exists to install only APK...
The other idea, to remove Knox check from APK...
With APKTOOL...
I could Google for USB connector "fix"...
I know new devices are bad to open... and I also not able to use Hot Air without to kill the whole PCB...
To buy new Phone is easiest way... but less "fun".
Best Regards
Edit 1.
USB Connector
Oh... seems sub pcb and not really expensive:
https://www.ebay.de/i/202777226008?...MIqq_7yZno6QIVxu7tCh0SawEtEAQYASABEgLm0PD_BwE
Will try to find Video or Pictures how to open Phone...
Maybe easier as I think....
Edit 2.
Nope... glued... :cyclops:
Time consuming and risky to kill more Hardware...

Edit 3.
Did you saw this Thread? Or similar Knox hacks?

Edit 4.
Also interesting... but IMHO obsolete (for you):

Thanks for the help im gonna try it when i get home, but if i have to open the phone im just gonna buy a new one its 3 or 4 years old now and stil on android 8.0

Nope, no reason to root. Stay where you are and don't move.

What's my motivation?
Recovery, roms, kernels, Titanium Backup.
Sent from my SM-T700
1. Write to SD card fix
2. Debloat/freeze unnecessary apps (saves space, ram, and battery)
3. Xposed Framework
a. Boot Manager
b. Wanam Xposed (fairly decent customization)
c. Youtube ad-away
d. Pandora patcher (awesome features)
e. Minminlock
f. Greenify
4. Custom recovery (scheduled backups)
Android L might take a while until officially released for Touchwiz devices. If this devs keep doing the great job that they are doing, a custom rom running a variant of Android L might show up faster.
I was not inclined to root at first and void my warranty, but I love this tablet and these additional features are must haves for me. Do whatever is best for your needs in the device.

For all the newbs out there can you (explain in detail) the benefits of all those features, for newly rooted users. Thanks [emoji106]
Sure...
1. Write to SD card fix => I download a fair amount from torrent sites, I can now save files directly to SD card instead of taking another step to copy and move them over then delete them from internal storage. I believe as stock only certain apps can write to SD card, now any app can potentially do so. Like I prefer ES File Manager as my default file manager as opposed to the Samsung My Files app. It was crippled without this fix.
2. Debloat/freeze unnecessary apps (saves space, ram, and battery) => Delete bloatware apps that you don't use which you can't do without rooting. NYTimes/Papergarden/Milk...I don't use them, so don't take up space on my limited storage.
3. Xposed Framework
a. Boot Manager => Choose which files you want or don't want at start up to improve boot time.
b. Wanam Xposed (fairly decent customization) => From status bar tweaks (colors/icons/clock), 4 way reboot options, auto expand volume panel, these little tweaks here and there that you can't get from stock make using this tablet so much better.
c. Youtube ad-away => As a heavy youtube user....NO MORE ADS!
d. Pandora patcher (awesome features) => Unlimited skips and even downloading thumbed up songs!
e. Minminlock => Remove ads from certain apps.
f. Greenify => See which apps are eating your battery and freeze those apps.
4. Custom recovery (scheduled backups) => Up to date backups in case something goes wrong. I recently had some weird bug with the Play Store where I couldn't update any apps and there was no fix I could find online. Simple flash of latest backup got me running 100% with minimal effort.
These are just my personal uses for rooting my device. Everyone has their own preferences, let me know if this helps.

Perfect summary. Not much to add!
So what's the risk then?
I'm loving the Tab S, but not being able to use Xposed and TiBU is driving me mental.
Should I root it? So far as I understand, it'll trip Knox, which means that if my tab breaks in some way, it won't be covered by the warranty anymore - is this correct?
Should I do it anyway, or maybe wait a while longer to see if someone comes up with a way to root without tripping Knox, ot to undo the Know trip counter?
Update when rooted?
Hi guys/gals,
just got this tablet (t700). If I do root, will I be able to get the next update OTA or using kies? I can appreciate this might be a difficult question as the next update obviously hasn't come out.
Thanks in advance.
you can still get OTAs if you use triangle away...if it works on the Tab S that is.
I've had Android devices for years and I still don't understand why people still want to get OTAs while rooted, that same OTA will be out within a day or two on the forums, usually with knox removed and root injected. So it just makes it easier on you if you forget all about OTAs.

Loss of warranty of a $500 plus device is a good enough reason for me not to do it. Those few benefits do not outweigh the potential downside.

How were you able to get Pandora Patcher to run properly on the Tab S? I rooted my tablet for this and Titanium Backup. Pandora Patcher doesn't want to work on my tablet. I even updated to the latest PP (v3.5) and Pandora (v5.5) but it still doesn't work.

[T520 10.1Wifi] Random reboot

Hi everyone,
I have samsung galaxy tab pro 10.1 wifi version and I'm on stock (rooted).
When I put tablet in lockscreen, it reboots very often.
It's driving me crazy :S
I tried to disable knox and all Samsung apps, but nothing changed.
I don't have /proc/last_kmsg (don't know why) , so I was able to only do in terminal a logcat (see attached).
(if someone how to make system to log on that file, please tell me
My idea is to flash a custom kernel, but before doing that, I wanna wait if someone has another idea.
It's not only my problem because I saw my two other friends with same device and same problem.
Please help us.
EDIT: I didn't notice the upload size error of the log file, so here is it: LOGCAT -> dropbox.com/s/cm45egosrvng9ql/lggm.txt?dl=0
I don't know if info in the file can be useful to the issue, but I had logcat logging before its last reboot.
thank you.

Installed xposed framework and Samsung Kitkat SystemServer Crash Fix module and no random reboot after so far.
Seems to be solving.
Thanks to bortrenamo.
Glad i found this thread. My Tab Pro will reboot sometimes when I put it to sleep. Think this is software related? I flashed a custom ROM on my Note 2 and lost warranty. I would like to hear how your experiment goes.
---------- Post added at 09:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:03 PM ----------
Update, tried letting device go to sleep on itsown vs. manually putting it to sleep with the power button. The random reboots seem to occur when manually putting it to sleep, so far. I'll update my post if this changes.

I am running stock ROM until the warranty expires. This problem is driving me crazy. People have had this issue since July is what I've read. Unacceptable.
Also, these pop up ads are driving me crazy! I read they are Knox related?
Is there any way to install this framework on a stock ROM with out throwing the Knox counter? I heard the framework takes care of the reboots AND the ads. Please help mate!

As long as your device is rooted you can install xposed.
If you did not trigger knox counter when you root your device (ie. towelroot) xposed won't trigger your knox counter.
It wont even set your device status to "custom"
Just be careful in rooting, using cf-root will trigger your knox counter. Use towel root instead. You may flash a rootable kernel use towelroot and flash your original kernel back.

Thanks, I will try this module... Does anyone how it can fix this problem?

(SM-N9300) Iris Scanner broken after flashing TWRP and rooting.

Hi everyone,
Let me explain, I used odin to flash the recovery, because of the encryption or whatsoever I wasn't able to transfer via MTP using TWRP in order to get super Su on the phone to root and boot because of the dm-verity thing.
So I wipe data and then I could transfer super Su, get the phone rooted, and boot it up.
Of course Knox was tripped, so i can't access private folder nor S health, but I can live without it. (Ok, if someone know how to make S health work again I take it )
After all of that I tried to setup the Iris scanner again and it scan my eyes, says everything is okay, and goes back to the menu where it is written "add your iris".
No matter how many times I try it seems that it doesn't save my iris properly, or don't save it at all.
Do someone knows something about it ? for those that are rooted do you experience the same issue ?
Thanks in advance
PS : I rooted following this tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-7/development/recovery-official-twrp-galaxy-note-7-t3458413
Hello.
I did root my sm-n9300 following the tutorial.
Only SHealth didn't work.
To put it working again is easy:
Go to playstore, and downgrade the SHealth. Never allow to upgrade it again.
About the iris scanner, I had my iris saved before rooting, and didn't have to scanner it again.
The private folder works fine.
You didn't follow exactly the tutorial.
After flashing the recovery, you can tranfer su via MTP, using the sdcard, and then flash it.
Maybe if you flash the official firmware via Kies, and do the process of rooting again, you will have the iris and private folder working.
Hoppe this will help.
Hi, thanks for the answer!
In fact I wasn't able to transfer SU via mtp, for some reason twrp wasn't able to mount anything, so I had to format data, in order to "break" the encryption.
Maybe I'll try to flash the firmware with Kies and do it all over again.
But I don't get how secure folder can be working for you if knox is tripped...
Hello.
Indeed you are right.
The private folder don't work.
i thought it did, because everytime I was seeing photos, I got an information to put them in that folder, if I wished
But never did. Now I tried, and got a message saying the Knox couldn't create it.
My mistake
Sorry. But the iris do work, indeed
I really don't have any clue about how to fix the iris scanner
Trying to use a secure feature where one side of security has been compromised, i.e the ability of any app to have root privileges. I think there is a reason for the Iris scanner to not be working... Admittedly I used to enable root I every phone as I do normally tinker at system level, but, more and more apps are doing what normally root was needed for these days, the need to root is really low now. With my corporate policy basically blocking any knox tripped device, I have kind of learnt to get by without root and luckily that is now paying off with some convenience features that you can only really use in a secure environ safely like Android pay, fingerprint and iris unlock etc. Now my phone is effectively a wallet, I really want those secure features maintained so something more sinister is somewhat blocked from making its way into there.
Sent from my SM-N930F using Tapatalk
I see your point, the fact is when trying to set up the iris scanner there is no message about compromised security like when trying to open the secure folder.
In fact it works, it just seems to not be able to save it properly.
My phone is also a wallet in China since wechat pay and alipay can be use even on rooted phone, and it also can be use everywhere. ( no need of special terminal or whatever special technology, just a bar code scanner)
Thanks for your answer, I think k I'll try a factory reset tomorrow and let you know
I remember when setting up either finger print scanner or iris, the phone brought up a message about knox environment being activated, so I think you will be out of luck.
Be careful with rooted phone in China, I connected my rooted phone to my Chinese wife's laptop, and it installed an app with root privileges unattended!! I was not impressed with that I can tell you.

Hi all,
I hope this is the right to post.
I am at the point of throwing my SM-T800 in the bin. This Samsung bloatware is getting beyond a joke.
I have been toying with the idea of putting a custom ROM on it just so that I can get rid of all this Samsung crap.
Do I need to go that far or can I just put a rootkit on the tablet or maybe there is some other way to achieve my goal.
At the moment I’m just looking for ideas. Anything that could help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Graeme.
I haven't had much of problem with this. One way to get rid of Samsung bloatware, is to go into settings > applications. Go through the list of every app. If you have no use for it, then delete it. If there is no delete option, like with flipboard or "internet", then disable it. This will stop all of its apps services and also will uninstall all of this apps' updates from the storage. Of course, the tablet will not become exactly "fast" after this because Exynos 5 Octa 5420 was a modest SoC, specially when coupled with the QHD screen. However, freeing up some space will be appreciated on the 16GB storage models.
PS: if there is no delete or disable option, click on the storage and at least delete cache and data. At least this will free some storage.

Hi Akopps
I think I may have not made my goal clear.
My aim is to get rid of any unnecessary Samsung software for no other reason than not having them tell me what I can and cannot do with my device. I have owned it for more than 3 years now and it is well out of warranty. I am happy with the performance. It meet my needs. Disabling their software and removing latest updates just seems a bit futile. Samsungs' "Kids Mode" app just updates itself and then wants to take control of what you see. I'm in my early sixties, no young children or grandchildren and with no need for "Nanny" Samsung to tell me what to do.
I just want to get rid of there "preloaded" software. After all, I own the device, why shouldn't I be able to remove the software?
Cheers,
Graeme
I have tried the same but was unable to use any of the how to.

I'd prefer something like system app remover or BK package disabler in case something is inadvertently removed that causes an issue. It can easily be restored.
Hi guys,
do you have a personal safe-to-remove apps list?
I've tryed following the ones already discussed in this forum section aswell as others but I've encountered some freezes/reboots. (For example by removing BBCAgent , BeaconManager and Context Service).
Thanks for your time and happy new year! (tab s still going strong after 3.5 years yay)

Tonyspo is mostly correct. Flash TWRP using odin, boot into TWRP, flash superSU. However, if you're only goal is to remove preloaded apps, I'd suggest taking ashyx's advice and just install BL package disabler from the app store. I use that on my Galaxy S7 and it works great.
I've tried odin, but in download Mode all of my PC's won't recognize the tablet. When booted everything is fine (but than I can't flash)
I've read its because Samsung removed the Option in the Rom to get root rights.
I've also tried Heimdall and I only get error msgs.

I guessing you're actually in recovery mode not download mode if the tablet is recognised when booted to the os.

Need Help - Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 SM-T817V Knox

I have this tablet which is being restricted to use due to Knox. It appears to be for some vendor. It takes over the device even though it's not connected to the internet and doesn't allow me to do anything with it. I have read all the threads I can find and tried every possible option through Odin to install new firmware.
I understand this model is a giant pain due to Verizon and I may not be able to root this for customization. But is there not a way to get a factory clean firmware on here that doesn't have this Knox vendor customization? If not, is this good for anything or just throw it in the trash?

Thank you for the response. This is still very much an active question for me.
I'm able to create the user account, install and start the install for the mentioned apk. However, it stops at 90%, and I get this error "Root Failed" Error Code 0x166508. It recommends I use the PC version, but USB Debugging is disabled in main account and I can't even access Developer tools for this new account.
Additionally, I'm unable to use the Home button. I get the following message "Security policy prevents use of Home key"
Seems like no matter what is suggested, there is something new that is blocking this from being used.
