This pop up annoys me comes up often. I know I have a stable internet connection, and it works but still get this message. You're not connected to the internet. Please try again after reconnecting.
Use the Toaster app to find out which app is giving you that pop up message (it is called a toast because it pops up). I found Wechat was a terrible culprit at this!

Do you have an ad blocker? I sometimes get that when i go to certain pages but its because of the adblocker. Once you disable it and reopen the page or app it works fine.

I also constantly get "network unavailable. Try again later" from wechat, even when I was on my old Sony phone. Do you have a fix for this?

it keeps trying to open instances of messaging over and over. it eventually gives me to error messages. one saying "cannot open hard_mail.exe" and "cannot open tmail.exe"
it either crashes or works fine for a bit then does it again. any clues?
thanks

I have the same problem, it doesn't crash at me but is is opening messaging constantly with the SMS inbox. I reinstalled a former backup but it is starting again.
Any help?
maybe there is a problem with the hardware button for mail? Try going into Start, Settings, Buttons and assigning that mail button (button 4 I believe?) to <none>. If that alleviates the problem you might want to take the phone apart and clean the contacts for the button (or get a technician to do it).
Every so often I get a small message box appear stating "sending". This appears over whatever app I'm currently in.
Haven't sent a text for hours ..... and I can't see any SMS output in the stock messaging.
I'm on bigxie ROM with Franco kernal if that makes any difference ......
Thoughts? Have I got some malware???
Maybe try looking in "Data Usage" under Settings (make you go into the menu and choose "Show Wi-Fi Usage" if you're using wireless) and see if there's an odd app showing up? It must be some app you have installed, I wouldn't immediately think malware though. Are you using stock kernel/rom?
Those used to be called Toast notifications but i think they changed the name of them. They may not be coming from the messaging app. They could be coming from anywhere.

Cheers for the replies ...... just hoping it isn't something sending premium rate texts!!!
bump ....
im still getting these occasionally.
Its definitely nothing 'premium rate' SMS type issue ....
any thoughts as to how i could find out what app is causing these ? its often when i have a browser open - but this could be stock, dolphin or even Opera.
Its just a message box appears saying "sending" ... hangs for a couple of seconds and then disappears ....
Still on Bigxie with Franco but on much newer versions.
Weird man, nothing I have seen on a stock gn.
You should search the forums for an app that will log what apps display toast messages
Blimey there are a lot of devs who have used Toast in their App name .....
Anyone got any suggestions for an App that would log what is Toasting me ??
I think I narrowed out to chrome beta just by trial and error
Every time I open my address book (or at least the first time after a reboot) I get this AT&T address book verifying subscriber status popup that takes a while to complete. I have no interest in ever using that service so how can I disable the check and just stop using it at all?
I'm guessing that the answer might be root and remove bloatware but I'm hoping there's a way to just turn it off without rooting. Don't worry I'll be rooting sooner than later but for now I'd like to just get rid of that annoying delay.
I havent got my phone yet, should have it within the next 3 hours, but have you looked through the settings, and opened up the AT&T address book app and checked the settings within that app itself?
Yeah. Not seeing any settings for it or actually any AT&T Address Book App at all.
Yeah i finally got mine a few hours ago, but i dont see any options to disable it either.
I'm guessing this will be one of those annoyances that only root can salve.
Not sure about the s3 but on skyrocket I checked out the programs.. scrolled down to sync and disabled..
Rebooted and never got the error again.

Where exactly did you "check out the programs.. scroll down to sync and disable"?
I don't see anything about AT&T address book anywhere.
I have the same issue. Every so often when I go into my phonebook I have to wait for it to check the AT&T Address Book. So now there is a huge lag to access my contacts.
Why do carriers think they should be mobile phone designers? I wish they'd just leave the designing to the people who are good at it.
Over 10 years of buying my own phones out of contract for a reason. I've only had the phone for a few hours. I wonder what other lame surprises await....
Ok, I seemed to have fixed it. Not sure which action it was because I was just doing everything I could to make it stop.
First thing I did was to turn off AT&T phonebook in my online account. Log into www.attwireless.com. Under MyAT&T tab, mouse over "Wireless" and select "Usage & Recent Activity". Scroll down to "Members Shared Usage" and click on "view details of the number you're working on. Scroll down to "Minute Detail" and right under that is "Phonebook" with the option to turn it on or off.
At the same time I was doing a lot of flailing around in the the phone. I was Settings page in Contacts and I deleted all the AT&T BS contacts it auto inserted into the phone.
I rebooted and it stopped trying to access that AT&T phonebook. Hope this helps.
1. system setting
2. app manager
3. click on the phone book
4. force stop
Now it will stop and the icon will be removed from the app list. You can do this for all of the apps that will not uninstall till we get root.

In step 3 when you say "the phone book" do you mean the app called Contacts that has an icon that looks like a phone book? When I disable that app my phone dialer icon disappeared making it so I couldn't dial out. Had to re-enable it.
Otherwise, I dont have an app named Phone Book.

No.
My AT&T and YP.
I was trying to disable the AT&T Address Book as well. I found out you disable AT&T Messages. Works like a charm.

I can confirm this method mentioned by Phoenyx worked. For me at least. No more AT&T Addressbook confirmation dialog when I go to Contacts. :good:

Yes, I just tried this as well instead of what I posted earlier and it also worked. I didn't know there was a phonebook option in my online AT&T account.

I just turned off the AT&T phonebook as you described and the pop-up goes away. Didn't need to do anything else.
Thanks!

Hi I just got my phone the same thing happened. I let it load (the second time it happened the first time I hit cancel). I got a page that was basically an ad for att's backup service, I scolled down to the bottom and clicked on close (or whatever the button did say). Now when I start contacts no more "checking subscriber status etc".
I have not rebooted yet but will and if it comes back I'll post, if it doesn't then at least on my Galaxy SIII it was a one time event.
Hi guys!
I read all threads with this problem on facebook messenger and i can`t find a fix. It`s about "Can`t log in.Something went wrong" problem.
I fresh install a few roms, now i`m back to stock, update to 4.18.401.3,download the last facebook messenger app and no luck.I installed an old version of app, format the storage and problem don`t disappear.Always when i try to log in give me that error.
But i tried on other devices and the app works well.
So,if somebody know how to solve this issue on ours device,i really please to help me if he want
Cheers!
Up!
I found a fix that seems to work on most devices:
If you have an Android phone (Nexus devices seem particularly susceptible to the error) with Facebook working fine, but FB Messenger app keeps throwing an ambiguous "Something went wrong. Please try again." error message, I have found a solution.
Turn airplane mode on.
Reboot phone.
Turn phone on.
Log in to FB Messenger and FB.
Cry tears of joy when the app actually loads.
Turn airplane mode off, continue to use the phone like normal.
If the above doesn't work, try taking out the SIM instead of airplane mode. In any case, the fix should work fine.

It stopped working for me one day too, and I never bothered following the steps again.
Unfortunately, it looks like we'll have to, since Facebook announced plans to scrap the messaging feature from the main FB app. So if we want to chat on our mobiles, we'll need the Messenger app..
Came to use the app today and found that I was no longer logged in. I use the app more or less daily.
Went to login and was redirected to the authorize page in my browser, as normal.
After authorizing I am returned to the app, where I briefly see a message saying 'something went wrong' or something like that. Afterwards I'm still not logged in.
Tried about 12 hours ago and failed to login. Thought there might be a temporary server issue, so left it at that. But trying again now I still get the same problem.

Can anyone of you help here?

I believe an update to the App was pushed to the play store today or yesterday.
Can you try clearing the App Cache and Data in App settings?
If that fails, possibly uninstall and re-install in case there is an issue updating your current install.
Mike
Not sure exactly what the issue was, but it appears to have corrected itself after a few days. Looks like connection issues somewhere along the line, but no idea what could be the cause, as my internet connection has been fine over this period and obviously had no issues connecting to xda on my phone via the web site, rather than the app.
