Stuck in Recovery Mode: Power Button Not Working - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

This is a new on me. I booted into recovery mode after an update (which took just fine), and now that I'm in Recovery Mode, I'm stuck. The power button is acting like it doesn't work, but it does since I was able to boot into Recovery Mode! Up and Down buttons work just fine and I can seemingly "select" an option (the line text background changes from blue to green)..but nothing happens. I can't even seem to force another reboot. Any ideas?

Plug it into a PC and try running the command "adb reboot" without the quotes in command prompt.

Have you tried Vol down + Power button for up to 15 seconds to see if that will reboot the device?

This happened to me as well. Power button works for selecting an option by double pressing it twice quickly.

[Q] How to get out of stock Android system recovery (power button won't select)

Okay here's the run down. I'm on JB and rooted, and was about to apply the new FreeGee bootloader unlock, when I wanted, out of sheer curiosity, to check to see if I could get into the stock recovery by holding powering off and then holding Vol Down + Power. Ever since I rooted it didn't seem to work anymore, but I didn't have a need to boot into since manually applying the JB update.
Anyway, neither Vol Down+Power of Vol Up+Power worked, the phone just booted normally. So, I decided to use ADB to boot into recovery using "adb reboot recovery". It worked, and the stock recovery loaded up. I can scroll up and down using the volume keys, but for some reason cannot select any option by pressing the power button. If I hold the power button down, the phone will appear to restart, but it boots right back into the stock Android system recovery, where again, I cannot simply select any choice with the power button. ADB doesn't list the device since I'm in recovery, and I only have fastboot installed on my lapton running XP which isn't available at the moment (I'm on OSX 10.6).
I'm thinking pulling the battery may work, but I don't have my torx screw driver handy. Anyone have any ideas? Perhaps where to get fastboot for OSX (it appears to still be missing from Android SDK). Thanks.
EDIT: SOLVED - Turns out in stock recovery, the soft menu button (the one on the bottom right) is used to make the selection, not the power button like in the custom recoveries. Still not sure why the Power+Vol. Down doesn't work to boot into the stock system recovery.
Use the menu button to select now.
what dm said. they wont be lit up but they still work
Yeah, I figured that out almost immediately after posting this (feel dumb now). Thanks though.
Any idea why the key combo Vol. Down + Power no longer works to boot into stock recovery? Seems odd that it worked before when manually updating to JB.
Hello. Can you tell me another solution. I have similar problem. Stuck in recovery mode with faulty power button, and can't get out of there. It's not working with menu button. Is there a way to do it with SD memory card? Thanks.

Help: Safe mode

So i acceident flashed a theme (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2751173) for ARHD v 9.1 but I was running v8.1
Now my phone automatically boots into safe mode and and the system.ui keeps crashing, I trued getting into my bootloader with no luck, the only thing I can do i reboot the phone but then it just goes back into safe
is there anything I can do?
If it boots and just system.ui is crashing, try to connect via USB and fastboot reboot-bootloader.
Or else try to press power + vol-up for sometime and as soon as it reboots keep pressed vol-down it might need a bit of timing though
This comes in handy if you have a problem being stuck in Safe Mode ....
To activate Safe Mode: press power key until shutdown menu shows, press 'shut down' until another menu opens with Cancel and Restart.
To deactivate Safe Mode: press power key until menu shows, now hold power key - a toast box opens - keep power pressed and now hold Vol+ (toast says 10 seconds and counts last couple) it should reboot as normal.

Should make it easier to get out of

Power button responsive in bootloader and recovery

My phone powers on and off fine. However I can't boot into recovery or bootloader by using the volume+power buttons. the phone just starts normally. I can get into recovery using adb command and the volume button can cycle through the selections but the power button is unresponsive so I can't select anything. Not a hardware issue but I don't know why it isn't working. Can anyone help please?

SM-J600G Stuck in recovery mode

The model is SM-J600G. Everything is as stock. I don't know what caused this problem but the phone boots then for less than a second I see a blue screen with a white android and then it boots to recovery mode.
In recovery mode I cannot select any option. The power button doesn't work. I also see a message that says:
#fail to open recover_cause(No such file or directory)#
#Reboot Recovery Cause is [UNKNOWN]#
Support SINGLE-SKU
Block-Based OTA
Supported API: 3
# MANUAL MODE v1.0.0#
I suspect it was an updated that was not installed correctly (it's not my phone).
I cannot turn off the phone, only reboot it pressing and holding the volume down key. I cannot enter download mode.
Does anyone have an idea to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Update: I think the power button is stuck (not the plastic button but the real button). It seems weird that pressing the volume down key turns off the phone. Also, when I hold press any volume key or the screen, the highlight becomes green, and as far as I know the power button should be pressed so that the highlight becomes green.

Question Blocked while rooting

When I was going to root my phone, I must have taken a wrong choice on the download screen (I can't remember what) because it got to another screen like the attached screenshot over this text: "Press power key to continue", but pressing that key does nothing. Every time I start the phone, that screen comes up for about 10 seconds, and then it boots in an apparent normal way.
The same screen of the screenshot keeps coming back when I press the keys for download mode (Volume Up + Volume Down + Power). Pressing the keys for recovery mode (Volume Up + Power, from off) nothing changes. However, I pressed that keys for over 2 minutes and the phone entered in recovery mode. Then, I could wipe everything and rebooted, but the problem persisted exactly as before.
I can't get to the download mode, so I can't download any ROM. What can I do?
Just confirming, you've plugged in the usb cable before pressing the buttons to go to download mode?
Might also try using ADB commands to get to bootloader...
