Hi, trying to revive an old kindle fire.
I've charged the battery so that it's recognized but my usb port is really busted to the point where the solder pads are completely worn off. There is exactly one site that shows me how to add wireless charging which would be fantastic. The nova-labs post helps, but I can't figure out where to solder the 5V+ and the GND. The image is pretty dark and it seems that
Can anyone tell me where I can solder on this to add my wireless charging?
The nova pictures aren't too clear.

Thanks!

I was at Target shopping around and I went to play with the tablets. If you've ever been and looked, some of the charging cables are "u turn" type that wrap around the back. Does anyone know where I can get one of these? My Google-Fu isn't strong with this one.
Here's an example.

Holds the Nexus 7 well:
Side piece can be pulled to the side....
So the Charging pad can be removed/replaced if need be.
Can't wait to get a case in and test it with one on
I should have been more detailed in starting, only the supports were planned out, the rest was done on the fly, but I might try making a blueprint of it in a few days if it stands up so others can make one and just modify the charging port for other Qi chargers.

So I just got this phone from eBay four days ago and this green stuff is inside the cable. I have 1 year old and i think she put it in her mouth. How do I remove the green stuff? Do I get a new one? Is something wrong with my phone or can it do something to my phone? Any info greatly appreciated.

That's Corrosion. Your best off just replacing the cable. Similar to rust, It was caused by the saliva from your kid. The cable can be cheaply replaced. Once the phone port has corrosion, You're in a bit more of a pickle. You might be able to clean it with a very fine brush and maybe a solvent like rubbing alcohol. Just make sure it's completely dry before you plug it into the wall or the phone.
Thank for the reply. I will give a try.
Well, I was trying to be thrifty by replacing my 5t's battery, but when I got to step 12 in the ifixit guide -- remove the flex connector to the USB-C and headphone port, a chunk of the socket came out with it.
Does anyone know what the name/model of the socket is? I'd be willing to give it a go with a hot air gun and magnifying glass if it saves me having to buy a new phone...

Replace the entire subassembly.
Have the right tools and don't force connectors...
Remember out of circuit subassemblies are suspectable to ESD damage.
Found the connector on Alibaba and replaced it. Back to 100%, charging, data, and audio works.
