[Q] wifi adhoc "obtaining ip address"

Hi friends
Searched the forum and tried the proposed solutions but nothing helped.
I'm trying connect to addhoc wifi on my desire HD os=2.2
I replaced the wpa_supplicant file with one of those that exists on the forum and
indeed now i see adhoc networks but the connection is not stable - it goes like connecting -> obtaining ip address -> connected -> disconnected
and so on in loop ... i verified that the ip is static and i even put gateway+mask+dns.
when trying to ping the target it even sometimes succeeds!
Tried with several different adhoc targets and tried both wpa_supplicant for ver 0.5 & ver 0.6
Please does someone can help ?
thanks

My phone is samsung galaxy GT - I 5503. I do too and obtainging IP address...
This question not yet solved
I have the same issue with my sgs2. I get no connection ever, only a constant "Obtaining IP address.."
I'd suggest resetting your router and forgetting the network and trying to reconnect. Also a static IP might work but as for finding any of your provider's info, that's up to you. Unfortunately, XDA doesn't even recognize my network (Sasktel) so I am having a very tough time with this!
most probably firewall problem , i had same problem with hotspot doing exactly as you discribe.
it can also happen by some custom Roms and don't happen with others ( firewall disabled ) .
Also lot of sense Roms have an issue with that exact wifi problem , not like AOSP Roms ,i don't know why
I only had this problem with a network called; 'eduroam', my schools' network. I solved it by recotting & changing the network security TLS/TTLS/EAP or somethinf like that.

Unable to connect to WiFi AP with hidden SSIDs

Hi,
I'm having problems connecting to WiFi APs that have hidden APs. I've tried manually adding the network but it keeps showing them as out of range. Once I unhide the SSIDs, I'm able to connect successfully, but after hiding again, it shows them as out of range. I've tried 2 APs (TP-LINK and ASUS) and both have the same problem.
Device is a stock HTC One X on Android 4.2.2 (latest I think) and is freshly factory reset.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Could not connect to any wifi network

Hi,
my Oneplus 3 does not connect to any wifi network anymore. After typing to correct wifi key the device says 'Connecting' and then 'Deactivated'. MAC-address is there.
What I have tried:
Reset
Tried Lineage OS
Reinstallation of orginal Oxygen OS
Flashed firmware+modem of Oxygen OS
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

S5-G900f duos NO network connection with LineageOS 16.0

Hi People!
I looked around a lot but couldn't find anything similar or helpfull.
I upgraded S5 G900F klte from LineageOS15.1 to 16.0' --> SIM Slot wasn't detected.
So I downgraded again to 15.1 but the same problem occured (but it hadnt before).
Then I installed 16.0 klteduos - now there is SIM detection (is that the right word?) i enter a PIN but still no network connection is established, no networks can be found and when I'm searching automatically it's saying sth like. " network connection currently impossible. pls try again later"
In the process of up and downgrading I did some complete data / cache wipes.
SIM is not the problem since its working in other phones, but other SIMs won't work in the S5.
Thanks for your help! beechlea

Xiaomi Mi A2 lite Wifi HOTSPOT Tethering issues on OSX - WRONG PASSWORD

Hi all, I have a brand new Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite phone with Stock ANDROID one firmware.
Android Version: 9 pie
Security patch: 5 February 2019
I have just Unlocked bootloader, flashed TWRP and Magisk, but I'm running on stock firmware.
I have the following ISSUES:
ISSUE 1 - When tethering a wifi signal, all my mobiles devices can connect and navigate, except for my working device, a Mac running OSX 10.9.5.
When I try to connect the signal, I type the password and the system gives back INVALID PASSWORD, even if the password is correct.
I found HERE ( https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4580644 ) and here ( https://apple.stackexchange.com/que...ection-has-password-issue-with-my-macbook-pro ) that the problem is due to the fact that OSX misunderstand a 2.4 GHz signal with the 5 GHz.
I've double checked and the HotSpot Wifi is a 2.4 GHz signal.
Switching to 5GHz and than back on 2.4 GHz does not work
Rename the hotspot does not work
Changing the password does not work
Rebooting does not work
Adding manually the WiFi SSiD and password in OSX Network preference does not work.
I'm out of ideas, and the Macbook with OSX is my working device, so I need tethering on the go.
Didn't try with Bluetooth or USB tethering.
ISSUE 2 - I have 2 sims, when tethering from SIM 1, the devices that works with my hotspots are able to navigate witouth problems.
when moving the data from SIM 1 to SIM 2, the tethering does not send data, and i'm unable to navigate.
Any help and suggestion is really appreciated, i don't want to switch to LINEAGE due to the fact that I have just set up the stock rom with my personal apps
Any news or suggestion on how to solve those issues?
I was able to make it work with MAC OSX without WPA2 Personal password, leaving WiFi open.
The problem is that I work in a School, so there is an high risk of students to connect to my personal hotspot, how can I force to only be 1 device to be connected? It was possible with AOSP Kitkat, why is not possible with Pie?
Any Magisk or Xposed module?
I have the same issue with OS X 10.13.6.
No problem with paranoid android pie beta but can't use tethering with stock firmware.
