Hello everyone! First of all thank you very much for all the information and help given in this forum, without you I could not have made these modifications on my moto g5 XT1671.
I know the camera doesn't quite work well in Pie Roms and that you have to use third-party apps or the Gcam tutorial for cedric. I have read everything and I have Pixel experience 9.0 working on my daily phone perfectly long ago, with Gcam and even the camera that comes by default works well except for green tints in low light. I have the Pixel Experience Plus version PQ3A.190801.002 - 20191013-0904. Kernel 3.18.140-lineage-g03c601c6d053 CEST 2019.
I am very happy with it, Safetynet ok and it works very well and fast for me, but now I have the following problem: A banking app needs to verify my identity through the front camera, and for some reason when verifying, the image looks blurry, as with low resolution, and therefore it does not identifies me. The same fault appears with Google Duo but I do not use it, using other video call apps I have no problems, even WhatsApp. I don't know what I can modify, if there is anything I can do to make this work on my phone. The front camera works perfectly in the rest of the apps. I was Googling and found nothing about it.
Thank you very much for the knowledge shared by all of you, and sorry for my English.
Cheers!

Hi,
i have a huge problem with my camera. When my Mi5s arrived before one year the cam worked perfectly and the pictures were really nice. But somewhen the quality of the images went really low, so i tried different camera apps and settings, tried multiple different roms (Miui Dev, Global, etc.) but nothing helped.
The images looking like if the resolution is really low and are unsharp, especially in low light situation. The weired thing is that in the preview of the camera app the images are much sharper and more brilliant as after the photo is taken.
I am for now on the pixel experience rom (clean flash with everything wiped) and tried the stock cam, the ported google cam and the ported miui cam, but the images are all the same.
I have now clue who it can be that the images are that bad after processing in every app
Does anybody have an idea why this happens and how to solve this? i didnt find anywhere similar problems with this phone/cam.
Thanks

Maybe you can try magisk module from tadi's libhack (this module is for oreo) And make sure your gcam setting set correctly.
Didnt help, but thank you!
It looks more like a too long shutter time if you ask me. Did you used the Mi5s specific port of GCam? Search here for "v2e", which will give you the latest one that worked great with my device: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
For settings I use:
Model Pixel 2 XL (some users have better results with Nexus 6P)
Config HDR Pixel 2017 ZSL
HDR+ Very high
Final JPG Qual 100% (although 95% should also be enough)
And enabled increased detail of HDR+ on front camera
The author suggests these settings himself:

Hello, i've been using arnova's modded gcams for a while, and noticed that video recording is extremelly dark, and sometimes get black screen flashes on it, not even close to photo's quality.
The only camera that seems to be doing an extremelly good job with videos is the oneplus modded one, but it lacks a lot of features.
Actually the image quality of the modded Gcam is shocking when enabling hwhdr on debugging and setting hdr to high, video doesn't stand a chance. As it doesn't happen only on one app, I believe it is a system or a camera2api configuration that the oneplus camera and the default camera ignores (I am running Pixel Experience, feb latest build, but it's a thing on every Oreo's ROM).
Is there anyone that knows about the topic any way or idea to debug it -be it from the camera source files or from the c2a settings-? It would be insane to have also the video ia for stabilization of the Gcam and maybe it can compare or be better than the OnePlus Camera.
Open to suggestions !
They is another problem with the modded gcam, when we select 60fps option camcorder the screen flickers while focusing and thats been recorded
There's nothing to do to check flickering, dark video and fix colours on preview? images looking a bit color-dead before obturation on some cameras, seems that only aplications that overrides those settings are working good. (modded gcams are dark and flickers on video, apps like instagram that doesnt obture gets a bit of lack of colours since preview doesnt do a bit of hwhdr to have an more accurate end result to obturation and also nicer looks on instagram photos). Seems to be a problem with the phone configuration since the camera can record well on other devices, and the op camera can record well on ours. Not like there are no ways around now, we can use both cameras and take the images with stock camera before uploading them but in long term it would be a nice improvement on social networks direct uploading, easier to take videos and photos on a single application (also to have gcam benefits as it is video stabilization). Sorry if I didn't explain myself properly, im not so good at english. Also, I didnt develop directly for android/camera but if someone with a bit of idea gives me the hand I can check out the settings. I don't have so much free time to learn now but as a developer with a couple of tips on the topic maybe I can find a way around to check those settings. Or if an experienced developer with time and will to do it I can help out maybe. I believe it's worth to give it a look
Yes you read it correct our long wait is over now. Now we too can enjoy the amazing processing of gcam. Everything works like a charm and there is a significant improvement in the quality. I'm sure this will get better as this is obiously an early build.
And it's not the pixel 2 camera but it's the pixel 3 one!..
Here's what works:
*Portrait mode on both front and back cams(only on humans)
*HDR+, HDR+ enhanced
*Panorama (super glitchy for now)
*And pretty much everything else
*Night mode ( slight improvements only)
*Photo Sphere
Here's what doesn't work:
*Live Google lens
At first the images will look dead.So after you install it you need to increase the saturation. Go to settings , bsg mod settings , saturation and change saturation of front and back cam.
Literally all the credit goes to @xdaakhil for digging this up. If you want to thank someone thank him.
Well my thanks button is down there too ?
Working on :
Honor 9 Lite
Honor 7X
Honor P Smart
Mate 10 Lite
P20 Lite
Honor 6x
keep testing
Edit: video and photos sphere works after changing the default storage to internal. Don't know why it doesn't work with the SD card?
Photo sphere is also very buggy
Photos cannot be clicked without enabling HDR+ or HDR+ enhanced.
There is a pinkish tint on highlights. This can be overcome if you guys focus on the lit(highlights) part by tapping on the viewfinder.
This port can work without root or any modifications.

All photos were taken indoors in relatively low lights. So considering that it's pretty cool. Just wish the video gets fixed soon.

? Don't know why that happened. Try downloading it again.
To those of you who who don't know why portrait only work on humans:
Gcam doesn't utilise the secondary camera that comes with the device as pixel phones have a single lens setup. The portrait is completely software based. You can check this, cover the secondary lens and click a portrait pic, it'll work!
This is also very useful as we will get good quality blur and edge detection like flagships in our budget phones as the software processing is the same in both apps.
So the camera cannot detect Dept between the subject and background as it only uses one lens.
Hello,
please, tell me, did you find optimal settings of gcam for our phone? Saturation and HDR+? I am testing it but I am not finding the perfect combination yet.

Well im also a bit confused about the perfect match.
But this is what I use:
Pixel 3 as the input method in both front and rear cams(for the super res zoom to work)
Saturation, rear cam highlights 2.7 shadow 2.9
Front cam highlights 2.2 shadow 2.6
Tweak around yourself but I couldn't get the cam to take a picture like it is shown in the viewfinder and the skin tones are better in the viewfinder than the final photo ( the details are far better though)
Thank you Fredin. I will test it.
Been lurking for a while, just registered to say thanks, works nicely the difference is pretty big! Panoramic mode is slow and buggy for me but photosphere does the same thing anyway and works well, lastly, is the RAW picture supposed to look really low resolution like it does for me?
It's working on P Smart as well, will be testing more tomorrow.

Good to know it works on more devices.
It's good to know that you guys find it useful but it's been digged up by @xdaakhil I don't want to steal his work, I just
posted this with more details about the bugs and a small comparison.
Anyways thanks guys. Keep testing

Yeah the raw shots do look like it's of low quality(don't know why). But since this build wasn't built for us this is really good.
Only if someone ports the camera for Kirin devices.
Anyways good to hear from you.
Is there a way to get slow mo working?
Btw thanks for the awesome work

I'm not sure as slow motion recording requires hardware support which our phones dosent have.
Normally phones (including ours) records in 30 or 60 fps which is good for taking normal videos but not for slow-mo recording. All the apps you see in playstore just slows down the fps and processes them to slow the video down, but this causes quality loss and an artificial feel to it.
So I don't think we will be about to get slow motion working.

its not working on any phone right now.. including op6, poco f1 etc.. its not been fixed yet
Yup, its working on my honor 9 lite like boom but 1 thing I would like to ask is that it supports any image stabilisation or not.
Hi,
Just got my G7 One and the only disappointment was the camera. It is horrible out of the box. Horrible after updates.
So I found a Gcam port that works on my phone.
The difference in quality, performance and function is insanely better.
I tried a few APK's. This one runs beautifully, without any force closes or errors with my use so far.
Found it in another xda forum for the g7 thinq
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/themes/app-google-camera-gcam-lg-g7-thinq-t3855081
It's the first one listed.
That's great news. I just bought this phone from Koodo, waiting for it to arrive. What's the camera launch speed like? What about focus speed?
They both launch incredibly quickly. However, the Gcam, to me, seems to focus and react faster in every situation.
The stock cam gimmick AI cam can't tell something is not a hotdog.
The flags and settings in Gcam are a bit intimidating. You can do a lot of customization and tweaking.
Gcam is overall more intuitive, flexible, and capable.
Oh, and you can disable the shutter sound in Gcam. Not possible on the stock app.

The low light pics are good for me with the stock cam app
I'm glad you have had a positive experience.
I did not have that experience.
The first pics I took were low light and they looked like a 90s webcam was used... I'm only slightly exaggerating. That's what set me on the search for a different app.
Daytime pics seem ok. And the stock app does have some potential if they can get the AI cam to work.
But, this is my subjective opinion and experience.
Open camera is pretty cool too.
Hey Professorbondo, you mention its the first one at that link, but I'm assuming the first one has changed now (its a v6.1 apk). Do you recall the file name for it? Is it still working well for you? thanks in advance!
I installed the latest one for normal camera (rather than the one with normal/wide angle):
LGN1_MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V1d.apk (cstark27, 2018-12-15, Normal angle only)
Definitely better than the stock one from LG. <But I am keeping the LG one around ... It is good for quick snapshots.>
However, there is no option to save the photos to SD card on this GCam, which may be problematic with our 32G internal storage. (I guess that is because the Pixels don't have SD card?)
EDIT: One flaw found - when Camera is invoked from Google Hangouts, it will not take pictures. (Pressing either on-screen button or vol button did nothing.)
Also noted occasional slow shutter response when used as standalone app, and it takes longer to be ready after a shot is taken. (This last is know issue with the Pixel's Cam ... guess it takes time to do post-processing.)
thanks for the heads up!
i chose the normal lens one as suggested in the previous post and have been quite impressed with the camera thus far. it feels a touch laggy at times but i don't take many pictures so it's not a huge deal and may just be perceptual on my end. low light performance is pretty impressive and the gcam app definitely feels like a big improvement on the stock camera app. cheers!
For anyone that comes across this thread, a well working gcam port for LG G7 ONE is linked here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79719119&postcount=326
Head's up!

Can someone please help share the stock camera APK?
This is not the right place to ask for that, I think, but I would be happy to share the LG G7 One stock camera APK.

I'm using this version with config:
APK file: Gcam 6.1 https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1277/
Configs file of G7 Thinq: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/configs-fu24-01/
Hi, does anyone else have problems with camera aspect ratio.
I'm only able to use 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, And I would like to use 18:9 but I can't find solution for that.
Is there something on my phone which define my camera to only use those ratios which I mentioned above. And if there is could I somehow change it.
I got it working on Google lens, actually did nothing. But in oneplus camera, snapchat, it's annoying. I tried to install other versions of camera but it only let me to use 4:3+1:1 or 4:3+1:1+16:9 depend on version. It escapially annoys me on snapchat when I get that HUGE black bar on bottom of screen, it's caused by camera not app resolution because it works well on if camera is not counted.
I'm using lineage os 16. And device is oneplus 5t.
I would appreciate if someone would tell me if they know how to fix it. Ask me if something wasnt understandable my English isn't greatest.
Thanks
