So, this is not a new issue, but one that's been annoying the living crap out of me as of late.
The volume with calls and voicemails is INSANE. It is so loud that I can't use normal headphones even on the lowest setting without hurting my ears. Without headphones, I can comfortably conduct phone calls with the phone at arms length (like it is on speaker phone -- though it isn't). I don't remember having this issue with Cyanogen on my Evo, but I can't run ASOP on the Note without losing some of the key features of owning the device. Furthermore, I'm happy with the current software + Nova and only want to get rid of this volume issue.
I've tried every imaginable setting under Settings > Sound and the "Call Settings" in the phone dialer's own configuration menu. My assumption is that this "feature" was rolled out for stupid or nearly deaf people who kept complaining that they couldn't hear callers. It seems that the phone is digitally boosting the sound as loud as it can go and then passing it to the DAC (but only for the default voicemail and dialer apps as far as I can tell). I suppose I could try and fix this by messing with the DAC settings in STweaks, but that would bork things like media volume since they don't have the living **** (apparently XDA feels that they need to censor euphemisms for poo ) boosted out of them and wouldn't actually tackle the root cause.
Anyone know if there is a way to change this setting? It's completely unacceptable that my choices are to either damage my hearing or invite everyone else in the room to listen in to my conversation.
For reference, I'm using the digiblur ROM (basically stripped stock).
So, i recently got the D855, put MM stock rom on with root and TWRP, it's a pretty sweet upgrade from my galaxy s3, however I cannot seem to find fine adjustment for volume, even with 3rd party apps rom seems to reset volume to the set increments that volume buttons sit in. Now I'm cool with it being like this for media/notifications but with alarm... its either no volume or HEY JUMP OUT THE WINDOW END IS ENDING volume and up. utterly shocked me in the morning by surprise. wondering if there's any simple way to patch this, or whether if i get CM13 rom it'd let me fine adjust it and just keep the alarm volume lower (i tried stock google alarm too which is enough to wake me up tbh), i just want a quiet soothing tune to wake me up not a call to world war 3...
Other option is to learn to edit sound files to make ringtones quieter for the alarm, which seems like a lot of bother :/
Ok so far I like it - and I love the watch
Maybe a have this wrong....
Mute the watch also mutes the phone
muting the phone does not mute the watch????
So you are in a meeting and you place your hand over the phone, or flip it on its back to mute but your watch keeps ringing! Is it working differently for other people? It just seems so dumb - when would you want to mute the phone in a situation as above but want the watch to keep making sound?
App makers - start building - help us to get the most out of this new asset
I am finding the speaker to be inconsistent across manufacturer phones. I have an LG G4 and it mostly plays nice. I haven't put the call feature through the full tests but I did notice that when I was on the phone-phone and a 2nd call came through, flipping over to the 2nd caller automatically caused my watch to activate and audio conversation came from the watch, even though I did everything on the phone.
I haven't checked the muted issues, but that could really be an issue I need to really test. I have constant conference calls where I mute. I also work from home most days. I would HATE HATE HATE to mute the phone and talking dirty to my passing GF. Fortunately I do not wear the watch much at home but good to know.
sound Alarm
Sorry can not help you in terms of your question, I'm looking to settle another matter! How can add and change alarm tones or notifications, because I have not found tones than only to call?

You have to do it manually, and you have to be rooted. Admittedly this info. is in the the wrong thread, but Motawa88 posted there, so I helped him out there.
Starting at post #353: http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...skin1980s-huawei-watch-kernel-t3219576/page36
I suggest maybe starting a separate thread instead of posting ringtone/alarm tones in a kernel thread :good:
Are all these phones quite or is it just mine? Alarms are quiet, can barely hear ringtones and notifications. Vibration is weak as well, which causes me to miss calls while in pocket. Don't get me wrong, I love this phone. But my HTC ,10 had loud ringtones and mortifications.

Mine too, I can't bearly hear it so I changed the ringtone from the other phone I have

Might try that.
Agreed, the external speaker volume is dismal at best. I could not even hear the phone ear piece until I flashed Elemental X which allows for ear piece gain... However no gain for external speakers yet.
i have recently had this problem as well. get it replaced. theyll send you a new one overnight if you got one through verizon. mines would be loud initially but after a while it was quite.
My problem is that there is one volume slider for both the ringtone and notification sounds. This is quite limiting (I feel like this was not linked in earlier versions so either they are taking features away or are simplifying things).
Does anyone have any magic tools to un-link these volumes so I can make my ringtone max and notification volume at 50%?

No, that is how stock android is. Other devices, like a Samsung may seperate them. But google leaves them linked by default.
As far as changing that... I really don't know. I leave my phone on vibrate all the time because I have a smart watch that vibrates on my wrists and I can check messages without even taking phone out of pocket.

Yes. I had an issue where if you continuously press the home button it would start out as a decent volume and then decrease. But when any type of audio would play it was super low.

I found a solution to this problem... Volume Butler! It's great, and does exactly what I need it to do (without even buying the "pro" version).

My sounds were all too low for me, i downloaded some iPhone MSG / alarm sounds as well as a Air horn sound and all those sound that i downloaded are much much louder then the default sounds
for me it seems that its something with the software because the speaker is very loud but, for example i download a song, listen to it and it plays very loud but if i set it as ringtone its very low when my phone rings. i was searching in the settings if there is anything to disable but cant find anything
Vibration power on this phone sucks.
I've had the 32gb and 128gb and they were both the same.
I setup the Moto X Pure 2015 for a friend last week.
I used it a half-day to ensure all was working fine.
And realized how much I really miss a proper vibration out of a phone.
Can't stand missing calls in loud places because I didn't notice the phone vibrate in my pocket.
As for ringtones - there are louder ones out there.
I attached a couple of loud ones in the zip.
I setup a Tasker profile to change to one or the other when I'm at parties or other loud places.

Thank you for posting them. The standard Pixel XL ringtones wouldn't wake up a light sleeper on the loudest setting, and most are tunes are kind of dreamy and sleepy. Its been so annoying finding replacement sounds, I installed Alarmy just to get louder sounds and of course soon after my network log starts spiking like crazy, with Alarmy opening multiple connections to facebook/google/etc sending off my data. Out of the entire Pixel XL forum your post was the only one I could find with links to sounds to download that I can load into the standard clock.
Many many tanks, now can get rid of another 3rd party crapware that slurps data like crazy.
Hi all,
Apologies if this is a dumb question, I haven't run a custom ROM on my devices for a couple of years now.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend (or at least name) a custom ROM which has separate volume controls for ringer and notifications? I like to have my ringer quite high as I need to hear work calls coming in, but hate the blaring noises that so many apps now throw out all the time and want to keep the volume of them right down low.

AOSIP Derpfest sets ringer and notification volume separate by default, then there's a toggle that allows you to link them. TBH I thought all ROMs allowed you to do this, but it's not something I pay much attention to.
Derpfest is a great rom. I've been using it for almost 2 months
