is the phone struggling to maintain the signal? if it is struggling then it will be scanning/connecting/disconnecting over and over, and this will cause significant battery drain

I think for now OOS (official or beta) may give good or even best battery life.
Custom ROMs may reach equally well figures.
Maybe someone knows a Custom ROM even better than OOS for battery life.
I wanna run this rom but wonder of it's stable for daily use. I do care a lot in camera (portrait)and speed. Thanks
