SM-A505FN android 10 and Thailand CSC replacement - Samsung Galaxy A50 Questions & Answers

Hi all, i'm a newbie, would ask you expert about replacing CSC in my SM-A505FN.
I need to record calls on my phone but android 10 doesn't permit.
My questions are:
1)
Can i obtain the native registration calls replacing stock firmware from ITV (italian) to THL (thailand) with odin ?
Naturally after that i will use an italian Tim sim.
2)
Is it possible to flash ONLY CSC file or MUST be replaced all 5 firmware files of same firmware package?
(mix different firmware files ?)
example is it possible to flash this?:
(THL) CSC_OMC_OLM_A505FOLM4BTC5_CL18193178_QB29745698_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
(ITV) AP_A505FNXXS4BTCA_CL18098116_QB30533179_REV00_user_low_ship_meta_OS10.tar.md5
(ITV) BL_A505FNXXS4BTCA_CL18098116_QB30533179_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
(ITV) CP_A505FXXS4BTCA_CP15656935_CL18098116_QB30533179_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
(ITV) HOME_CSC_OMC_OXM_A505FNOXM4BTC8_CL18301008_QB30060986_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
3)
what is the difference/usage of file CSC and HOME_CSC ?
Hope somebody can help me to understand.
Thanks

You can. I changed my CSC from AFR to INS by Flashing the Indian Android 10 firmware via Odin. After that I had native call recording. I didn't need to buy an Indian SIM card to do it.

thanks,
- Do you flashed both 4 files (BL, AP, CP, CSC) or only a single CSC file?
- After flash, you powered up the phone for the first time without sim or with sim ?
- During the first boot is the language english or thailand ?

I flashed all the 4 files. Clean flash with CSC not HOME_CSC. My sim card was inside throughout the process

I did the job, now my Sansung A50 has "native" call recording on Android 10. YEAH !
I write for those interested (the procedure provided here is at your own risk).
I started with a Samsung A50 SM-A505FN, stock firmware A505FN_A505FNXXU4BTC9 (Android 10 ITV Italy, ver. April 2020).
I downloaded on the pc:
- Odin3 software 3.14.4
- THL Firmware (Thailand) for SM-A505F mobile phone
(used "SamFirm" utility, samfirmtool v0.50).
(The firmware downloaded was A505F_A505FDDS4BTD2 (Android 10 THL, ver. April 2020)
I downloaded and installed on the pc:
-Drivers Samsung_USB_Driver_v1.7.23
Saved manually all my phone data and more, i installed "Smart Switch" app to backup all my data and apps to SD card.
After backing up, app was uninstalled (backup data must still on SD).
In settings menu enabled the hidden item "Developer Options":
-settings -> "phone information" -> "software information"
tap 7 times over "build version"
Enabled in "Developer Options", "Unlock OEM" and "Debug Usb":
-settings -> "Developer Options"
"Unlock OEM" enabled
"usb debug" enabled
Then turned off the phone.
Started phone in Recovery mode:
- VolumeUp and Power button pressed together, when Samsung brand appears, release the power button ONLY.
Run "Factory reset"
Run "Boot bootloader"
Phone restarted in bootloader mode:
Connect mobile phone to pc with a usb cable.
From pc:
Run Odin3 3.14.4 and inserted in BL, AP, CP, CSC Firmware THL files.
(settings was default, "autoreboot" and F.reset.time")
BL - BL_A505FDDS4BTD2_CL18098116_QB30406351_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
AP - AP_A505FDDS4BTD2_CL18098116_QB30406351_REV00_user_low_ship_meta_OS10.tar.md5
CP - CP_A505FXXU4BTC5_CP15351765_CL18098116_QB29748025_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
CSC- CSC_OMC_OLM_A505FOLM4BTC5_CL18193178_QB29745698_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 (NON HOME_CSC...)
Run Start to flashing.
After flashing, phone restarted and remained for several minutes with samsung logo (it seemed blocked), then configuration finally started.
The first fundamental thing is to select the Italian language.
When finished the phone became an SM-A505F/DS.
Phone still "Official".
In the phone app during a call there is the RECORD CALL button.
Then i installed "Smart Switch" app to restore all my data and apps from SD card.
All my data and apps were recovered.
For my curiosity:
- I also tried to bring back phone in Italian by flashing firmware SM-A505FN_A505FNXXS4BTCA (ITV, italy).
No problems found, at the end the phone became an SM-A505FN
Phone still "Official".
more
- I also tried this mixed italian-thailand firmware:
BL, AP, CP taken from firmware A505FN_A505FNXXS4BTCA (ITV, italia).
CSC taken from firmware A505F_A505FDDS4BTD2 (THL, tailandia)
Files were:
BL - BL_A505FNXXS4BTCA_CL18098116_QB30533179_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
AP - AP_A505FNXXS4BTCA_CL18098116_QB30533179_REV00_user_low_ship_meta_OS10.tar.md5
CP - CP_A505FXXS4BTCA_CP15656935_CL18098116_QB30533179_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
CSC- CSC_OMC_OLM_A505FOLM4BTC5_CL18193178_QB29745698_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 (NON HOME_CSC...)
At the end phone was an SM-A505FN
Phone still "Official".
In the phone app during a call there were the RECORD CALL button.
My only concern is what about this mixed firmware?
may be will create problems in future updates?.
From the samsung support point of view it should be better because the phone is model SM-A505FN, italian model.
Any suggestion?

I've installed the Thailand (THL) Android 10 April update through Odin. For some reason when I booted the ROM it selected XXV (Vietnam) as my Active CSC.
I do have call recording but VoLTE does not work now. Not a bad trade off. Depends what matters to you.

Thanks for the write up mate. You will still receive OTA updates in future when they get released in Thailand. Not Italy. I used to have an S7E and I switched the CSC to BTU so I would get updates when they get released in the UK even though I am in Africa

You're lucky. I've not been able to activate VOLTE. I guess I have to be on AFR firmware to get back VoLTE. For now I'm happy with Call Recoding. I'll try the next INS firmware when it rolls out on Android 10

If i'm not wrong also these has call recording.
Do a check if they may be ok for you

What procedure did you used to root?
What do you mean with "emergency call only" ?
Does the phone start or not ?
Did you flashed all 4 files of stock rom ? (using CSC file and not HOME_CSC)
Here a topic on how to root A50, maybe here you find help:

Hi
Maybe you have destroyed your IMEI.
Dial *#06#. Check if it shows your imei. if it shows null or zero then efs partition is corrupted. If it shows the imei then dial *#0011#. Select slot 1 and check IMEI status. If it shows NG then your cert is corrupted.
If it shows OK then ther is no problems with your imei and it is from somewhere else.

A few months ago I put the XXV CSC number on my A505FN according to the instructions.
Everything works the same as before, and the only downside is that I don’t get upgrades.
Does anyone know how I can manually upgrade the software with being able to record conversations ....?

This is strange, I have received at least two ota updates since i upgraded mine.
I'm based in italy.

I flashed only CSC file XXV. And since then I don't get updates. When I check manually it says: Record failed

I think your problem is the answer to the last question I leaved in my post:
"My only concern is what about this mixed firmware?

Maybe the answer is the update fai you get.
I may suggest you to save your data using smartswitch and then flash the full THL firmware. After you can restore your data with smartswitch as explained here

Will NFC work then? I pay for everything with my mobile phone, I don't carry the card with me, so NFC is very important to me.

And is there Croatian language?

I don't use it at all.
I did a check in my mobile settings, i didn't find any nfc, it seems it is missed.
My wife has an A51 (with THL firmware) and she has Nfc, instead on my A50 seems missed.

Connect your device to a PC.
Then using adb type the following into a command prompt:
adb reboot download
Then I tried to re-install, and installed something wrong, and it wrote me this:
SCURIYY EROR: THIS DEVICE HAS DEEN FLASHED WITH HNANAHORIZED SOFTWARE & IS LOCKED. CALL YUR MOBILE OPERATOR FPR ADDITIONAL SUPPORT. PLEASE NOTE THAT REPAIR / RETURN FOR THIS ISSUE MAY HAVE ADDITIONAL COST.
I gave it to the repair shop, I hope they will succeed and that it's cheap ...

Thanks for that tip, Ashyx. That saved my day. BTW, what is that password that the Factory Binary SW asks for? What's the reason for a password there?
I was trying this "Factory Binary" (combination) firmware because as soon as Pie came out for my SM-T835 (Galaxy Tab S4), it was available only for France (CSC = XEF) and I wanted to preview Pie/One UI in my device. Then my region's firmware (Brazil Open, CSC= ZTO) came out and I flashed it on the tablet. For some reason, my CSC became CHO (Chile Open), and I wasn't able to revert it back to ZTO (although it's a Multi-CSC and contain both regions) . Then I flashed
COMBINATION_FAC_FA81_T835XXU2ARI2_FACFAC_CL14168542_QB19864423_REV00_user_mid_noship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
(AP only) after having flashed official
T835UBU2ARL1_CL14803871_QB20870118_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5
but after entering code *#243203855#, as described in
https://www.sammobile.com/forum/threads/39155-How-to-change-CSC-with-a-combination-file
the code was recognized (cleared from the dialer) but no CSC selection appeared.
Do you have an idea where it went wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Changing the Region on the galaxy active 2 including R830XXU1BSI9 update

Most old methods of changing the region on the samsung watches don't work anymore. Given their return policy I thought I bought expensive junk.

starts the csc selection but doesn't actually change the region.
TL;DR you need to install the combination firmware and edit two files
INFO: Netodin works fine in linux as well with wine since it works over the wifi
1. Start NetOdin3 click options and disable auto reboot
2. Click AP and select the combination firmware
3. Hold reboot button on the Samsung watch, when the reboot screen shows up press home multiple times to get into the boot menu
4. Jump to the Download (Wireless) and hold the boot button again to get into the Firmware download menu
5. Press the same button to more times to switch the watch to AP mode
6. Connect your wifi to the watch SM-R830-someid
7. In NetOdin3 press Start to flash the combination firmware
8. Click reset and now press CSC button
9. Select the CSC md5 and press start
10. When you reboot the device hold the boot button again until you enter the boot menu again
11. Select recovery and let the device restart
12. Enter settings -> About watch -> Software -> Tap software version until debug mode starts (you may need to restart your watch)
13. Connect watch to wifi
14. sdb connect <watchip>
15. sdb root on
16. sdb shell
17. backup active-customer.info: sdb pull /csa/csc/csc-active-customer.inf
18. backup prodcode.dat: sdb pull /csa/imei/prodcode.dat
19. edit /csa/csc/csc-active-customer.inf and replace csc code (I used vim and the XAR for the US version, https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/vi-editor-unix/ )
20. edit /csa/imei/prodcode.dat and replace last three characters to csc code you want (don't enter the csc selection after this it will reset it to the factory region)
21. reboot the device into recovery (i used /usr/bin/csc-util --reboot customer_change but i'm not sure it's necessary)
22. run netodin again and select AP, BL and CSC to flash stock
23. enjoy samsung pay if you have a US credit card (seems like you no longer need to install samsung pay apks on non samsung phone it's part of the wearables app)

According to the list the csc is BTU-UNITED KINGDOM.
A Beginner
Hi,
First of all I want to thank you guys for the grat work.
I want to say that I am actually a beginner or amature when it comes to what you are doing
The instructions are very clea. But I would really appreciate it if anybody describes what to do with more details, especially the codes of sdb. Just some more details
It would be great if you can upload a video "If possible"
1. What is the worst thing that might happen if I do something wrong? Can the watch be ruind? Can I fix it if it happens?
2. Where can I find the csc of my country "Sweden" I googled it and found like 5 or 6 different csc !! Is there any trusted source?
3. Is it appliable to R820??? the 44mm model? or do I need to do something different in my case??
Thanks in advance
Coming from the other thread to confirm this worked for me, thanks a ton! Didn't think it would be that simple with just editing two text files.. lol
For those who missed it(I did), some steps are missing where one has to repeatedly connect back to AP every time something has to be done in NetOdin.
Also if anyone is confused about the steps, it's pretty much the same process for all samsung watches so just search for it on youtube, it's there.
Out of curiosity, where did you get the firmware from?? @tb_

Thanks for your feedback, are the sdb thing code mandatory?on youtube they only add the 3 or 4 files on odin and just flash it...
Hey guys, firstly thankyou! This worked perfectly and now I'm able to use Samsung pay down in Australia! Only thing that I would add from the perspective of being a complete beginner to Odin, is how to save the files when you edit the CSC (press escape then type ":wq") it took me an extra 20 minutes to figure it out and I thought someone might find it useful

Got it from a third party. I was worried that it was counterfeit so before installing it I went through the system files to see if it's really the right model. But I can of course not guarantee that it wasn't modified by a third party. But I kinda assume that samsung won't boot from any random image given that you can't downgrade Samsung and even their tizen to any version you want apparently.

The csc.img has BTU inside. But I can't guarantee you anything when I ran this with my zone set to XTC it was booting fine but I couldn't get my phone to connect / initialize the watch after the factory reset. But not sure if it was the app or because i didn't properly reset or if I maybe shouldn't have reset.
So I can tell you that it will boot without issues but whether it works no idea. Maybe someone else can comment on that.

I think you are talking about steps 17 and 18. If so can you please till me a bit more detailed how to do these steps ! I mean Do we edit manually in the sdb?? or how are we editing? Why do we need to save the files after editing? there is nothing about saving files in the steps above!
Sorry if my questions are silly but I am a real beginner here!

No one will give you guarantees on this because no one wants to blame if something goes wrong. But if you try absolutely under no circumstances interrupt the flashing process and absolutely don't use the wrong model ROM. Also to be safe don't try to flash a firmware that has a lower version than your current one.

csc usually depends on the vendor. So there are a bunch of sweden csc's . But you should be able to find your current csc in /cas/imei/prodcode.dat

1. Do you know if the availabe combination frimware for R820 is of a lower frimware??
2. Yes My R820 is the 44mm bluetooth. thats correct. I guess I should use R820 which you linked in your original post!
3. Can you please describe more about steps 17-18 I didn't really understand how to edit! It's my first time using this sdb thing

I think I am the most commenting member on this topic.
I have read a lot and almost all the details in each shared link in this thread.
I am trying hard I swear. Lately after downloading the shared files in the links in the original post. I can't start the file "web-cli_Tizen_Studio_3.3_windows-64"
It is just flashing a cmd window and nothing happens after that!
What should I do in this case??
The other file in the link "web-ide_Tizen_Studio_3.3_windows-64" is telling I should have JDK software which I installed but It didn't help anyway!

Don't use that because I had the same issue in Windows 10. Go to https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74585286&postcount=330 and download SDBstarterKidv1.zip. Extract it and run ansicon.exe under data/tools folder. It will open a command prompt.

Normally the watch comes up with a prompt to allow your pc to connect to your watch. Maybe you might have to restart your watch. I would try the netodin step first because it might be more straightforward to connect the combination firmware to the computer because I didn't get any prompt on that.
Also maybe check that your virus scanner/firewall isn't blocking access.

VOLTE Success, Activation without Firmware Replacement (Sony Mobile withdrawal area)

Hello Xperia users! In the meantime, I finally solved the VOLTE problem! I approached Qualcomm's diagnostic port-active-efsExplorer and solved the problem by inserting a VOLTE profile from my carrier
Sorry, this is Korea and I am Korean.
However, I will write down the method in English.
Unlike previous 1&5, Qualcomm's diagnostic port cannot be opened.

Please turn debugging back on.
Of course, no access.
If you turn on debugging again,
I've already set it up, so it looks like that.

It's hidden in XPERIA1 firmware.
After downloading the firmware via Xperia Pim, change the extension to Modem.img in the Modem.sin file and extract it to the compression program (7z) to view the folder! Surprisingly, the world's telecommunications company VOLTE EFS file is hidden. +_+ Take advantage of it! You can open the VOLTE menu through the magazine module.
Hi, why don't you show by video or pictures. The windowns language is English. ???

I estimate, its only possible by unlocking/rooting the phone?
how to
Even with the great contributors' information, I think there are a few areas where I struggle.
For additional information, I will post my success stories.
I'm posting them in machine translation. Please forgive me if it's hard to read.
STEP 1: Implement the Tools You Need
Please install the following tools.
QPST(QPST_2.7.460)
Qualcomm-hs-usb-diagnostics-9091-952454(DIAG driver)
Flashtool (and XperiaFirm)
newflasher(INSTALL is unnecessary, but please get it.)
*All of the above were available on the internet as of 8/15.
STEP2: Get a "modem" that supports VoLTE.
As a prerequisite (regardless of the DualSim/SinglSim model)
For countries that want to use VoLTE, SONY is offering
  Official firmware is required.
  In my example.
Purchased model: XQ-AT52 (for Hong Kong)
The country where you want to use it: Japan -> SO-51A is available.
(The difference in the number of slots in the SIM doesn't affect it. )
  This is the case.
If the firmware to run VoLTE does not exist in the country where you want to use it
  This method does not work.
The annotations are long, but here are the steps.
Use XperiFirm, provided by SONY in the country where you want to use VoLTE.
   Download the firmware.

STEP3: Use the newflasher to write the firmware from STEP2 to your Xperia 1 ii.
In this case, if you want to burn into a model with a different number of SIM slots
Example: Writing SO-51A firmware to XQ-AT52
→The SIM will not be recognized, but it is temporary.
STEP4: Use EFS Explorer to get the necessary files.
Follow the steps of the great htcmage and have your Xperia 1 ii recognized by EFS Explorer.
  4-1: Install the QPST.
4-2:Install Magisk on your Xperia 1 ii.
Therefore, it is mandatory to unlock the bootloader.
4-3:Execute the commands at the command prompt as follows.
    adb shell
su
setprop persist.usb.eng 1
Magisk's permission is now required to get SuperUser privileges in su.
Note: From the Magisk menu, go to "# SuperUser" and click on
     You can allow.
4-4: The debug mode is disconnected, so you need to re-enable it.
4-5: If you have installed the qualcomm-hs-usb-diagnostics-9091-952454 (DIAG driver), you can use
It is recognized by EFS Explorer.
4-6: On the Phone Selectio screen, Banner selects the ROW port.
STEP 5: Back up the files required for VoLTE activation.
Before following the steps below, you must have the SIM of the line/carrier you want to enable VoLTE on.
    Please plug in.
I have backed up the following folders.
There may be some things you don't need, but at least it works.
   Data_Profiles
efsprofiles
Ims.
nv/item_files/datamodem
nv/item_files/ims
nv/item_files/mcfg
nv/item_files/modem
STEP6: Write the firmware you want to use, and copy the file from STEP5 to
   Override.
Follow steps 3 to 4 of STEP 3 to 4 to get the firmware you want to use.
Write & make EFS Explorer recognize it. (Don't remove the SIM.)
Then, overwrite it with the files backed up in STEP 5.
You should probably now have VoLTE available.
Thanks to the person who walked me through the Magisk installation process, and to the great htcmage.
Also, I pray that others wandering in the same sea of information will be saved.

I used a software called S1 Unlock Tool. You need to buy a credit from this website: https://networkunlocking.com/shop/sony-xperia-cable-unlock-0-counter-supported/. There is also a link to download the software. Along with unlocking your phone it will also grant you access to unlock your bootloader if you wish to do so. I did this and tried to root my phone but I wasn't successful, it just soft bricked my phone and was stuck in a boot loop. I had to use Xperia Companion to restore my phone. Maybe you can't root the Japanese variants, I'm not sure. I saw on here on another forum that you can root the Xperia 1 II.

[Guide] How to change CSC on A71

Disclaimer: This post is an adaptation of the original one in A51 forum. Thanks!
Warning: Do this at your own risk, I am not responsible for any damage that is caused to your device. This method worked for me and should work for everyone.
Credit to yakapa40 on XDA for the apk. This would be impossible without him!
You must make sure the model numbers are the same for the country you want to change to. To check that go to
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/recent/
and type in your device model number. Leave country code blank. The countries that are listed are those that will work on your specific device. DO NOT TRY TO CHANGE TO A DIFFERENT MODEL NUMBER COUNTRY!
MAKE sure device has above 70% battery just to be safe
OK lets start!
Backup all your data on samsung cloud and google
This process will erase all your data
Download samsung drivers
https://www.hardreset.info/download/samsung-drivers/
Check the CSC code you want from
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=2546689 credit to Jasi2169
Important later
Download the firmware you want from sammobile (slow download speed) or
https://samfw.com/ for faster download speeds.
It will be a zip file so use winrar to extract and you should get 5 files that start with
AP (System &Recovery)
BL (Bootloader)
CP (Modem / Radio)
CSC\_ (Country / Region / Operator)
HOME\_CSC (Country / Region / Operator)
DELETE the home file.
Next download Odin.
https://dl2018.sammobile.com/Odin3-v3.14.4.zip
Extract the Odin file and run as administrator.
Add each file to its respective field in Odin.
Now we need to put the phone in download mode to do that go to:
https://www.hardreset.info/devices/s...download-mode/
Keep trying until it works.
Next plug the device in and press start. It should take about 3-4 mins for odin to say PASS.
DO NOT UNPLUG THE PHONE AT ANY POINT EVEN AFTER ODIN SAYS PASS.
Let the phone do its thing and dont worry if it takes too long on the Samsung screen.
You should then be greeted with the welcome screen BUT it may not be the correct language so set it to English.
Set the phone up but dont worry about apps we are going to reset the phone again.
Head over to (APK provided by yakapa40).
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hU3...ew?usp=sharing.
on your device or PC and download it. Extract and it should be a apk file. Download it with your device.
Allow unknown sources and it should says done and not open (that is normal).
put you device in flight mode/airplane mode.
hold down the home screen and go to themes.
Galaxy themes.
My stuff.
Select mysterious theme(make sure not to click update).
Select try it out.
Go to Settings.
About phone.
Legal information.
Change Carrier or whatever third option is (the one that says android 10).
Choose and install the CSC you want (that 3 letter code) remove sim and it will restart phone.
again, dont worry if its on the Samsung screen for too long.
You should be back on the welcome screen and you are done!!!
Set up the phone and enjoy!!!
Credit to yakapa40 again on XDA for the apk. This would be impossible without him!
Download link is broken
This app will NOT work on firmware with August 2020 (or later) security patch. .
The App was originally discussed in the S20 thread and stopped working for all Samsung models if August update was installed)
is there any easier way for changing CSC?
this one seems so complicated.

Stock Firmware for Active Watch 2 LTE - Tizen 5.5.01 - Germany - Help needed "please"

Hi Guys,
i want to install the stock firmware from samsung on my active watch 2 LTE, but I cannot find the right Files online.
Can you support me with the right files?
Why...
I tried to flash via Net_Odin to change CSC (to make BP, ECG and so available on my German Watch).
I dont know why, but it failed all the time by using following file:
-COMBINATION-FT40_R825USQU1ASL2.tar
Now I heard that BP and ECG will be available soon in Germany, so a flash to a custom firmware is not needed anymore.
Now the Watch always goe into Boot Mode and thats it.
I can go to the screen were I can acitivate AP mode and WIFI is working fine to connect the watch with my PC and use Net_odin again.
Can you help me, to get my Watch into "standard" Setup again?
Thanks a lot
I´ve read other THread regarding "flashing the active 2 watch".
For now i would do following steps...
1. Change Watch into AP Mode and connect my pc to it.
2. Open netodin and flash 4 files
-AP_R825FXXU1BTI9_usr.tar.md5
-BL_R825FXXU1BTI9_usr.tar.md5
-CP_R825FXXU1BTI9_CL1701429_QB16973615_SIGNED.tar.md5
-CSC_OXA_R825FOXA1BTI9_usr.tar.md5
3. Reboot the watch
4. use to files to activate ECG and BP
-SHM1.1.0.175.mod4.apk
-TPKpusher_v9_BPandECG_31_inside-apk
Am I right?
Thanks a lot.
