Yesterday i flashed Samsung Sim unlocked firmware to a Verizon S20 plus. After rebooting it updated to the May security patch. Today I was messing around and noticed swiftkey is now preloaded. Is that something that's normal on the unlocked software?
Was always preloaded on my S20+ DBT. I disabled it using CCSWE App Manager (Play Store).
Awesome thanks for the info.
I also discovered it few days ago and I'm liking it very much... far better than Samsung keyboard IMO...
I have had my unlocked ultra a month and only just noticed it was there when it prompted an update! Was worried it was malware for a second as I definitely did not install it.
Can be disabled via the standard apps menu but cannot be removed.

Not on the Australian Version S20 Ultra 5G, i flashed ATE6 with Odin last night.
Maybe its a regional or carrier adoption?

That is interesting, I am unlocked exynos uk. It does not show in the app draw but if you look under input options is there, at least it was for me. It's called Microsoft Swftkey now too, just to confuse matters further!

Both versions will get updates and work as if they identical. The only difference you will see is performance and battery. In which snapdragon outperforms on note 10. Both support same LTE band, so yes Virgin 4g should work.
Got one too.
Using Vodafone UK, volte calling and WiFi calling both work.
Great phone and performance

Actually, it kind of depends on which Snapdragon model you are getting.
N975U/U1/W have pretty much every band under the sun, but are single-SIM.
N9750 is missing a few bands compared to the above, but apparently covers everything in use in the UK. It is dual-SIM.

The 9750 has a less locked down firmware, but the N975U1 will get the Android 10 beta.
Living in the UK, I would go for the 9750. You are getting more features at the end of the day.
Got my Snapdragon version a few days ago. Reception and WiFi cover is much better.

Just to be clear on this.....You and No one else should try to flash U.K firmware on the SM-N9750.
On the SM-N9750 you can only flash (BRI) Taiwan firmware, or (TGY) Hongkong firmware.

I think the last October patch came a few days ago, where the Exynos model got it a few weeks back. So no! They have their own update policy not mirroring the Exynos dates.
I got it from eBay. Do a quick search. The device was shipped from a "Swiss" Wearhouse - based on the seller. The good part was no import taxes. Ordered Tuesday, got it one week later!

I may have just ordered from the same seller .. it says it's from Switzerland .. I have a concern that even though the advert says it's new and they say in their listing that its brand new I'm worried that it may actually be refurbished and how would we know ?
---------- Post added at 13:05 ---------- Previous post was at 13:03 ----------
Is there a way to know for sure that the phone is brand new? The seller told me that all their phones are genuine and brand new but they said that most of their phones they open the box to make sure the phones are ok ...
This worried me a bit because if they are saying its brand new then i would expect an unopened box

Someone told me that he got the SD version on Ebay and the phone struggles to play 4k videos including YouTube whereas his exynos version has no problem
Have any of you had the same problem? Why would this happen

Hi,
I bought a Note 10 + Today in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Long story short - After a brief search online, I found the best price available on a website. It's only later when I realized that the phone is imported from Taiwan given that the Phones Model is SM-N9750.
What I found really frustrating is that some applications display the Taiwanese language. I check Sammobile for the same model and found that the only two countries supporting this particular model is Taiwan and Hong Kong. The rest of the phones from different countries have a different model number. So, is it possible for me to flash a firmware from any other country ( Preferably from USA, UK, UAE or India)? If so, which one is compatible?
Thanks
I have the N9750 (TGY/Hongkong) and it's in full French, I don't have app in Chinese.
maybe make a factory reset and reconfigure your phone in your language

No Im afraid you cannot. N9750 is being sold only in two regions as far as I know. Hong Kong and Taiwan. I also have a N9750 TGY/Hong Kong. And I love it. Absolutely no bloatware, dual sim and SD855. Only con I see is its updates are slow compared to other models. No Android 10 beta or stable till date

Well, that's sad. I was hoping that it might be compatible with any firmware that running on exynos.
Not that I don't like Taiwan and Hong Kong based fw. It really is rock solid.
Here's hoping that someone might test out alternative fw for this model in the future and let us know.
Thanks.

S10+ Hong Kong version took whole one month over international model. So Im pretty sure the same formula will apply to our model aswel
I expect Android 10 update to arrive on 15 January at earliest.

I also have a 9750 (shipped with BRI, then I changed it to TGY using Samkey) and found that during the OOB setup, some app titles were in Chinese, but as long as you chose English on the very first screen, everything including those with Chinese app titles will end up being in English. As a last resort, you can do a full reset and make sure you select English on the first screen.
If you need help navigating, try using Google Translate's live camera translation from another phone to understand what is displayed on your screen (I had to do that once since my S9+ shipped already on the home screen--in Chinese.)

The Chinese government is probably vetting it to make sure there's no hidden code meant to subvert their policies and make it easier to organize pro-democracy rallies (j/k).

Same thing here. Wondering if we can do anything to change the language.
More serious issue i am facing is that the bottom speaker doesn't work at times even after the factory reset. Does anyone face that issue? I guess i should replace the phone as this issue persists. Can i get advice on this?

Hi guys,
I'm gonna buy a S20 Ultra in China and I would like to change the Chinese ROM with the South Korean ROM or if is not possible with the Hong Kong one.
I know that some Chinese, to save money, buy HK mobiles and change the ROM to Chinese so I think should be possible do the opposite, I think they share the same hardware.
In case is it possible I would prefer the South Korea ROM coz probably it will have faster updates..
Do you know if South Korean and Chinese S20 have exactly the same hardware? To install the Korean ROM hiw can I do? Is it simple and I can do by myself? Do you have any tips?
Many thanks..
Hi,
I don't know about the S20, but I did exactly that with the S10+ (which had a Snapdragon 855 and identical specs across both HK and Chinese version).
It worked better with HK since it didn't have as much bloatware or google restrictions...and english can be made to be default.
I just got my S20+ and will probably be trying this soon as well. Stay tuned.
A.C.
I'm interested too if it is possible to flash a HK ROM on another snapdragon s20+ (SM-G986N). The problem is that the Korean version has bloatware from KT. I did manage to disable most of them, but I would be happier if can come without bloatware out of the box
Great!! Thanks AloxeCorton.. Will be the first time I will do it. So if you have any link to follow the procedure will be really appreciated.
Mishufac I would like install an unlocked ROM so shouldn't have many bloatware. Do you think the SK ROM will have more than HK one?

which is the best firmware between china, TW and HK?
I have the s20+ and I have the "open china" one, but 5g works only with the second SIM slot. That's very strange.
For the first time here in Brazil (and a few other countries), Samsung decided to sell the Snapdragon version of Galaxy S series, model S901E. S901B is equipped with Exynos.
Samsung always delays updates for Brazil, sometimes for months. Now with this international Snapdragon version, what csc is the best for updates and features?
Maybe S9010_TGY(HK) is a better option.

You can't install S9010 Chinese firmware on International S901E, otherwise you'll brick your phone.
Answering my own question, I'm using INS. Seems to be the best choice, since India is one of the most important market to Samsung.
I know the S22 variant made for the US market does not have an unlockable bootloader. But is it possible to buy a rootable S22 that will work with a Verizon SIM? Order it from overseas maybe?
yeah you can get a Korean 908N version on eBay with a very reasonable price. I got mine several days ago.

Awesome, thanks. I wasn't sure which country to look for. I prefer a pocket-sized phone and it looks like SM-SS901N is the small one and it's readily available.
I'm still running SABS on my old S9 (installed before Samsung killed it) and I was afraid I'd have to switch to a Pixel to get root, but the smallest Pixel 6 is bigger than I want. The small S22 from South Korea seems like a perfect choice.

No problem at all. I always got the Korean Variant instead of US one. Works for me all the time. I just didn't understand why they didn't provide an option of unlockinh BL on US variant. I feel like it's not even necessary.
are you looking for exynos or snapdragon? there is a large performance and compatability difference. Hong Kong and Singapore are where I got my last two phones from, bootloader unlockable snapdragons.
I'd have to say Snapdragon, which is also the South Korea variant (I'm guessing this is why it's popular for US buyers). Would there be any reason to consider an Exynos for use in the US? According to the reviews I've read, performance & battery life on the Exynos vary between meh and unusably awful.

Hello, may I ask what carrier you're using this with in the US? On Ebay, it says that it doesn't work with Verizon (due to CDMA).
I'm aware that Verizon does a little bit more than CDMA these days, but their base is still CDMA from what I understand. Thanks in advance.
