Hi,
I'm noticing a very frustrating behaviour on my op5t (last stable rom mounted). Third party calendar widgets don't get updates from Google Calendar events edits/deletions. I try to explain better:
I've put a widget with the app Your Calendar. Tomorrow I have a meeting from 12:00 to 13:30. Relevant event is created and properly displayed in the widget. Now I have to change the date (next week). I make the edit in Google Calendar (because when I tap the event GCal pops up) and save it. The widget still shows the meeting for tomorrow, even if is postponed. I've refreshed, switched off/on everything, nothing changed. If I add the official Google Calendar Widget, of course the date of the event is correct..!
This happens even if I delete the event: it's always showed but if I click on it I get "event doesn't exist" message.
The same problem is for all the third party calendars app and I never figured this issue before.
Thanks for your hints

Same, but I think "Upcoming Event" has a set period of time like it won't show next event if that event is too far ahead. My next event is more than 2 weeks time anyway so will see.
When is your next event?

So you're saying you have 3 events "today" but none is shown under 'upcoming calendar events"?

yes tomorrows event dont show and todays event dont show. Something is wrong.
I see it only does it if you have all day events if you make an event for next day which is not marked all day it will show up.. Is it possible for it to show todays event instead of tomorrows on the widget?
Still playing with it but it doesn't detect either my gmail or hotmail calendar.
I had simular, I found I had not ticked the calander to display.
calender settings-calenders to be displayed-then chose my gmail account.
Also at the bottom which "calender to sync"
Hope it helps

I do have my accounts syned and displayed. Still does not show anything argh
Yeah I noticed the all day events don't show up on the widget either. Which is odd because they show up on honeycomb.
I just changed my all day events to a regular event and it displays fine.
My google calendar events showed up for the next 3 days or 3 events or so, after I dragged the edges of the widget to be as big as I could get it.
I've now switched to pure calendar widget that also gets it's data from google calendar and that's working too (displays the next 10 events in the 4 x 3 widget).
good one, same here, so i am not the only one with that issue, its dont show my facebook calendar events.
For me, widget iis showing all regular events and no all day events, whether today or future.Tapping widget to pull up calendar app shows them but that defeats the purpose. Took Google several attempts to get the Honeycomb calendar widget to work correctly, must be tougher than it ought to be.
sorry for the million questions today...
my google now doesn't show the next appointment card even though i have events in my gCal... one thing i've noticed is that the google now video has events with addresses whereas mine doesnt. do appointment cards need to have addresses? or can someone help me make htese show up? thanks.
I had the same problem, then I changed the title from dentist to dentist appointment since then, the card shows up with other info like traffic etc.
Sent from my Nexus 7
next appointment only works on default calendar
With my business we have multiple calendars. The calendar for this a calendar for that calendar for the other. But they are all synced onto my android so I can see every different type of calendar. The problem is Google now only shows the next calendar event for the calendar events that I created on my default calendar not the other ones that i sync. That means I miss a lot of meetings. It wouldn't be that bad if I could copy an event that I'm synced to to my main default calendar. But there's no way to do that an android.
Enter only your city for location, no address, apartment, etc. It will work.
If anyone has a better fix, let us know.

This is clearly a bug in the Android version of Google Now. Using the same google account next appointment cards show up fine on my ipad but the android version never shows them no matter what I do. Bit weird that it doesn't work properly on google's own OS.
I was also having problems with this. I saw it suggested somewhere that you actually use the word "Appointment" in the event name. I set up a dummy calendar entry for "Dentist" and it wouldn't pop up. I switched it to "Dentist Appointment" and Google now instantly sent me a notification that "it's time to leave for dentist appointment!" Then you can hit the menu button in the top right corner of the appointment card and choose "Yes keep receiving appointment info" voila. Since then, I've always gotten my next appointment, whether it had "Appointment" in the title or not. I also found it wasn't necessary to add the location, it would show up anyways.
Update my HOX to 4.1.1 two weeks ago. Found out one strange issue related to Exchange Activesync Calendar
If setup an all day event of D day (one PC with Outlook or on HOX), Although the event will show up correctly in the stock Calendar App (at the top column of day view, as 1st attached picture), but if you tap it and enter the detail view, the event will show up as from D day 0:00 to D+1 day 0:00. <--as "Test Exchange in attached picture"
Setup a All day event in Google Calendar will have no this problem. When tap and enter the detail view of event, it will still show as "All Day" (as "Test Google" in attached picture", instead of "D day 0:00 to D+1 day 0:00"
This problem will make Calendar related APPs behave strangely. Like Smooth Calendar will show this "All Day" event whole day, even it was setup to hide the "All day" from SC's view.
Anyone has same issue or a solution?
It's confirmed that it's not happened before upgrade to 4.1.1, my other phone (Desire) with Gingerbread has no this problem when sync to same Exchange server, neither.
Thanks!

Probably just the way the two companies handle their calendars.
Outlook may be based on time.
Whereas Google may look at them as days, unless a time is stated.

Thanks for the reply. However, before update to 41.1, everything is okay... All day event is represented same for both Exchange and Google...
Since it's broken through the system (different calendar app shows same result), I suspect it's in the underlying Activesync code in 4.1.1, not just the problem of Calendar app.

Same problem here. All day events in Exchange calendar show up from 11:00 pm actual day til 11:00 pm next day. No solution found yet.
With Google calendar everything is okay.

Is there any update on this? I've got exactly the same problem with some all day entries (typically birthdays or anniversaries) appearing as starting at 23:00 on the correct day and running until 23:00 on the following day. Phone was updated to JB a few months ago and I only added the Active sync account on Monday. It is definitely an Android based problem as other devices (iPad, BlackBerry) work fine.
Waiting in antici.................................pation of an update.
I have the same issue with HTC One and Asus Infiniti tab The only thing that seems to help for now is to open every such recurring all-day event in Outlook, open the series properties, change the event hours from 00:00-00:00 to 00:00-23:59 (duration 2879 mins), save it. Wait for the phone to sync, open the event in Outlook once again and change the event hours back from 00:00-23:59 to 00:00-00:00 (duration 1 day). Wait for the phone to sync, everything is OK then. Little tiresome workaround, but at least it works. What is interesting it is definitely Android issue, because all my devices with Android 4.1+ have the same issue. I think it is somehow related to time zone issues. The other trick is to remove problematic event and create it directly from the phone's calendar app.
Ok here is something weird. First off I have no Google+ profile, yet Google still puts the birthday of one of my contacts in my calendar. So far this is not ZW related but it does show up in my calendar widget. Because this annoys me first I tried to unlink the Google+ data from my contact's other data. As Google simply does not allow this I deleted the gmail address. Then finally the birthday disappeared from both the contact and from the calendar. Unfortunately as soon as I put the email address back the birthday reappears so I decided to leave it out.
The weird part is that ZW still shows the birthday in the widget as the next appointment. Since I have no appointments for the time being it should simply display "no appointments" which is the way I programmed it. Now I deleted the contact all together but it simply refuses to disappear and keeps saying "24 june elvis's birthday" - with Elvis clearly being a fake name here.
I already cleared the cache of both the ZW and Nova Launcher apps and restarted Nova but the birthday still appears. Is there maybe another cache that ZW uses that I'm not aware of?
Wipe your calendar cache. Maybe try going into recovery and wiping cache?
I wiped the android cache from recovery as well as all the app caches from storage settings. The birthday is still showing up in the widget. Let me repeat that it has disappeared from the Google calendar itself, both on the device and in the google web interface on my laptop.
This morning the birthday disappeared from the widget. I didn't do anything extra to make it go away. It just happened. Mission accomplished but I honestly don't get how it kept appearing for so long.
Smart Notice
I'm trying to figure out how to get it to show me Birthday reminders (I have a Google calendar dedicated to birthdays, titled "Birthdays" just to make it obvious to the phone.). The option is ticked under settings, but nothing from the phone.
What am I doing wrong?
In Google Calendar, go to Menu>Settings>Birthdays (you will see a tab marked "Birthdays" a couple of lines above settings, but that just toggles birthdays on/off). There you will be able to choose which accounts and behaviors you want to use.
However, that just shows a notification the day of that person's birthday. I have not found a setting to show you a reminder say a week in advance without setting up a specific event.

Right. And my Birthday's calendar is toggled in, and I created the birthdays in 3 formats:
1. My 'default' Gmail calendar - created an event titled "Fake's Birthday"
2. 'Birthdays' calendar - created an event called "Fake"
3. 'Birthdays' calendar - created an event called "Fake's Birthday".
All 3 are all-day events.
All 3 lead to the same result: The phone won't even read the name of the 'person', and just shows that it's a friend's birthday.

My girlfriend has a G4 as well, and hers will automatically notify her 6 days in advance that it's someone's birthday (with the correct name/ date/ time) and that you set time aside for celebrations. I tried her calendar settings too, and can't seem to figure it out.
We may have been looking at this from the wrong direction. If you go to Google Calendar settings on your computer, instead of your phone, there are more options available. One is to set a notification "X" number of days before an all-day event. I don't know if your girlfriend is doing it that way, but it would be a way to accomplish what you want.

I don't think it's that. I've created multiple events in different formats under different calendars, and the only one that seems to trigger the Smart Notice is if it's under the "xxx's birthday" format. Also, the event must be there 7 days prior (and Google Cal sync that far back) for SN to read it, irrespective of notifications under Google Calendar on the computer.
So anyway, I tried that - and here's what I got today.
Notice how SN reads that it's a birthday from a week before in Calendar, but still doesn't read the name properly again. (slightly different problem!)

So having a calendar dedicated to Birthdays is useless unless the format of the event is essentially "xxxx's birthday." Wonder if it works for Anniversaries as well.
