I have a SM-G9880 BRI (taiwan) version and using in Australia. I have all the 3G/4G options but I'm unable to select any 5G - even though the phone is a 5G phone. I know my carrier does not use 5G in my area at this time, so is it not showing any 5G options because 5G is unsupported? Is it SIM related or would it be because I have a BRI (taiwan) CSC? I know others in Australia with SM-G9880 TGY versions using 5G (on different carrier) and they have 5G options... Just confused whether the 5G options are disabled because of the SIM, or because of the CSC???
If its CSC related, I might try Samkey to change the CSC to TGY...

5G has not been activated on BRI csc as there is no 5G in Taiwan yet. Its best changing to TGY however you will only get 5G using sim tray 2 (meaning you will not be able to use SD card at the moment).
Is there a fool proof method using Samkey?? Any help is appreciated

This is the method I used (creds to user jabreel.torrin in the S10 forums. I did modify this though to suit the S20U) - You don't need to Odin flash the TGY firmware as its identical to the BRI - only CSC needs to change from BRI to TGY :good:
1. Buy 3 credits (can't buy 2) from this seller that on ebay that I used : https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SamKey-Code-Reader-3-Credits-UNLOCK-Fast-Service/324110503100?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648
2. After buying the Samkey credits you will be emailed the username and password for the Samkey App (you need this!)
3. Enable developer options on your phone: Settings > About phone > Software Information > Tap "build number" 8 times or until you see a pop-up message that says "Developer mode has been enabled".
4. Turn on USB debugging on your phone: Settings > Developer options > USB debugging > Allow USB Debugging > Tap "OK"
5. Go to www.samkey.org and download the Samsung USB drivers (if you havent installed any samsung software on the PC already) and the Samkey application
6. Install the drivers first, and then install Samkey application on your computer > Connect your phone to your computer with a usb cable > Login with the username/password you received from the ebay seller.
7. Click the "Read Info ADB" button to make sure your phone has been accepted by ADB
8. Insert the CSC code you want into the "Change CSC (Buyer)" field > With the BRI SM-G9880 you want to insert TGY (where is shows PHN in the pic below)
9. Click the "Change CSC" button > Confirm that you want to spend 1 or 2 credits (for me it was 1, but some report 2 used).
Let the application do it's work after which it will reboot and then you're good to go. :fingers-crossed:
For me it was seamless and worked so easy. Zero complaints. 5 min later I had a TGY phone - and I have reserve credits for the next Samsung phone I need to change Hope this helps guys!

It's worked!!!! And it was super easy. Is it true that only Sim 2 works for 5G? I can see the 5G option on Sim 1 but haven't seen it connect. Not sure if it's cuz of no coverage or issue with phone Sim trays
I did this but I wouldn't recommend changing to TGY firmware as a Telstra user. You don't get band 28 700mhz carrier aggregation. So no 4gx . For some reason I only get it with the Taiwan CSC but you miss out on 5g , to me that is less of a big deal than no 700mhz band 28 pairing with other bands for 4gx. In other words you'll get 4g+ less with Hong Kong firmware but you'll get 5g.

Not at the moment.
Best to stay on Taiwan firmware as they appear to have 700mhz band 28 carrier aggregation and wait till they add the 5g option when their local networks commence it later this year. I'm told it's this time when Samsung will push a update to enable 5g capabilities to Taiwan firmware.

Hi,
c
You have to use the same model to flash in Odin. 976B is not 976N.
You can flash the KOO firmware for 976N which is the unbranded version (I bought it myself at a Samsung shop in Seoul).
I tried to flash with 976B and got errors. I flashed with KOO 976N but srill i have brand of KT when i start the phone also some settings of KT.
No idea why KT still stays after flashing

Right, because 976B is not the phone you have. You can't use a different model firmware.
Sounds like you need to change the CSC to KOO after boot up.

You said you flashed KOO firmware. That is not the same thing as switching CSC after booting up.
There is a phone menu to change the CSC. You need to do this, which will change the CSC setting on the EFS partition which is what you need to do.
Woow thank you for that. Now this is new and i didn't know it. Can you help me and let me know where to change CSC.

The SM-N976N has 4 CSC options built-in. KOO is the unbranded Samsung code. There are 3 for the 3 major carriers in Korea: SK Telecom, kt Olleh, and LG U+
No I did not change my CSC because I bought my phone in a Samsung store in Seoul.
I have KT one , when i switch one says 5G and under screen KT.
also in setting. I am trying to find the way to change the CSC from KTC to KOO
Active KTC
Edit
Ohhh no way that bad
For me only Samsung pay ,5G, start up the phone, phone can't recognize my number rather than that everything else is perfect.
I am trying to find way to change CSC to KOO, hopefully will work

Do you mean your N10+ doesn't connect to the 5G network even if it's present and working in your zone?
Yes i don't see 5G at all even covered in my country. Always LTE+
Weird.. where are you from?
Our model is 5G, I suppose SM-976B only is suitable for 5G networks over asian countries, hope someone could tell me I'm wrong...

I don't know the specs of the B variant, but my N variant 5g worked in Korea just fine. Haven't been able to test it in the USA yet because T-Mobile doesn't have any 5g towers in my state yet.
In my country, UAE according to bands only N976N working since the are on same 5G band.
N976B isn't working with UAE network (5G). I bought and sold N976B.
Also now N976N is not working coz of carrier, KT from Korea.
I have the Canadian version of S20. How do I check the supporting LTE bands? Carrier info seems inaccurate.
What's the service code?
I don't know how to get all single band support but i know how to get Carrier Aggregation combinations listed from Samsung devices. I guess you have Qualcomm edition in Canada so here is instruction to get log file: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...ons-from-your-android-phone/#Qualcomm_devices . Hi Olkitu,
I had a S20 Ultra SM-G9880 from Hong Kong. I used the phone in Austria for about 1 Month. Everything worked fine in Austria, but I had the problem with CA with my provider.
My phone did not have all the combinations of CA from my provider.
Because of that I sold my phone. Can you edit the CA combinations of a Sm-g9880?
If yes I would by another time phone, because it is perfect for me.
Thanks and regards

Hi,
Thats true and not
I changed with the program samkey or so my csc.
After that i had the 5g option, caller ID and CA.
But the problem was the combination of CA. It did not paired Band 20 and Band 3. Only Band 20 and Band 7 or Band 7 and 3.
I described it in my other Postings.
I hope there is someone who can edit the CA combinations.

I have read your linked thread before , but I want to ask one last question, how do you test Carrier aggregation from your phone and how you test the active bands for Carrier aggregation my device is a Tiwan version and it is doing CA between band 3 & Band 8
In the menu *#0011# there you can see how is the CA status and with which Band it is paired.
I tried my sim with an exynos version and could see that band 20 is paired with the other bands.
With the sm-g9880 band 20 was not paired with other bands while CA. Only band 7 and band 3 were paired.

I'm currently on Tiwan firmware with BRI csc and my device is doing Carrier aggregation on Band 8 & band 3
attached picture
My device also paired band 3 and band 7.
The problem was the pairing with Band 20 because band 20 ist for the long distance.
There are also people in Australia who also have the problem.
@hoss_n2 what country and region were you successfully using CA at? I read that you changed from TGY to BRI.
I'm currently on T-Mobile USA and wondering if changing CSC to BRI will enable CA for me.

Did anyone confirm if changing csc tgy to bri changed the carrier aggregation combo files ? I don't think it does. Only way to check would be to examine the CA combos for bri and tgy to compare. No point in changing csc or flashing it they are the same.
I bought a S20+ (SM-G9860, Snapdragon). It had a Taiwan CSC (BRI), I changed it to the Hongkong CSC (TGY) with Samkey (1 credit). For me it activates VoLTE and 5G. After changing the CSC a got an OTA update, which I installed. This changed the BASEBAND version to ATE5 (instead of ATCT). Bootloader/PDA/CSC are identical (BRI and TGY).
On reddit someone said changing his CSC from BRI->TGY increased his battery consumption (original thread). They suggestion that the BRI Taiwan version maybe missing antennas for the additional bands supported in HK firmware which could explain why there's a significant drain. Could this be right?
I am wondering are the Hong Kong and Taiwan versions of the S20+ hardware-wise identical? I am a bit 'worried' because I know the Hong Kong version support 5G 4200 Mhz and this frequency is not stated on the box of my Taiwan version:

Hong Kong TGY (this version I got after changing CSC with Samkey):
Taiwan BRI (original out-of-the box firmware):
Thanks!
they are identical, and no, I don't have battery drain when changing to TGY. However, take note: when you change, you must change *both* the CSC & the firmware, and do clean factory reset afterwards. There is no drain, and 5G band also depend on the firmware *and* the CSC, so you must change both.

Once a new software update gets sent ota... Would that be considered as new firmware of the new CSC? I changed CSC from bri to TGY but never changed the firmware. After changing I got 5G which is what i changed for. I have got 1 new ota update since then. Do i still need to change firmware and if so how?
As far as I can see Firmware is already the same in BRI and TGY devices. So no need to change imo. Maybe someone can confirm?

you have to. While, somehow, you can get ATE5 update (which is actually only baseband update), there's no guarantee future real firmware update will go to your set with differing firmware and CSC. There's another post from another guy in this forum who also end up updating the firmware, because error message with different csc and firmware in software update section.
But firmware is the same in Hong Kong TGY version and Taiwan BRI version. Completely identical.

I really think that what you are saying is incorrect, there is no need to update the firmware in this specific case with TGY and BRI S20+'s. Let me illustrate this by a screenshot of the downloaded firmwares (both most recent versions) from Sammobile:
Look at the file sizes, the filenames, everything is 100% identical. The only difference is that de TGY CSC triggers the the baseband ATE5 update. So why should we flash an identical firmware after a CSC change BRI->TGY with Samkey?
Hi, when changing CSC, does it need also factory reset? I have BRI version and want caller ID back, but I don't want to lose any data during the process.
Thanks for answers.
Not necessary imo.

Also do you have the option for adding Esim in this SD version.
Thanks

First off no esim sadly, and secondly the apn is specific for Orange Romania, so adding it to your phone will not make volte/vowifi work. You will have to take your carrier's apn from a friend who is in the same carrier or from the internet. Nevertheless I'll reupload the screenshots.
edit: the screenshots still seem to not be working, I'll give you a link to onedrive where I'll upload them: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AoksdHUtMyltgd15-duqZ_JyFMDzLw

You can check here the latest update.
https://doc.samsungmobile.com/SM-G9880/BRI/doc.html
Just change BRI to TGY or CHC if you want to check latest updates of Hong Kong or China CSC respectively.
Hmmm I need to change my CSC back to BRI as now they have 5G and better carrier aggregation.. but no method currently works. What a pain stuck on TGY
Same problem here...stuck on tgy too...if youll find a solution please let me know.

I use TGY as I get WiFi calling, VoLTE and caller Spam ID. I'm currently on TGY but I have flash the latest BRI software.

You mean you have g9880 hong kong TGY variant. But you flashed BRI firmware on that?
If yes then can you please tell
Before flashing BRI firmware, were you getting wifi calling, volte & caller spam id? Or you got these after flashing BRI firmware?

Thanks.. One more question. Does it have built-in call recording?
Any bloatware?
Actually, i am in india and want to buy hong kong variant as everyone saying its best. But curious about volte & wifi calling whether it will work in India or not. I haven’t found any person in India who use g9880[emoji3525]

There is no bloatware whatsoever on this model. This model does support WiFi calling and VoLTE but its whether your Service Provider supports it. There is no in call recording app native.
I have the S20+ Hong Kong version with the TGY csc, but I cannot get volte and vowifi to work. I am on Orange Romania and I know for a fact that my carrier does support these 2 features. I even have the option to turn them on in settings, but they do not do anything. As for 5g, this phone doesn't have the bands used in my country, nor the mmwave hardware so guess I'll never have it. But is there anything I can do to get volte and vowifi working?

If you are getting volte option in settings then you just need sim of operator which supports volte feature. Like I'm in India. If i do not have volte feature in my phone then I cannot make calls to anyone with my Jio sim(operator- Jio). But there are other operators like Vodafone, Airtel. These also support volte but also work without volte
hello, i purchased the HK version on BRI CSC and sadly im not getting 5G, wificalling or VoLTE (here in saudi arabia) even though i get the option to enable VoLTE but it still not working (its been enabled and it works in my S10.

Hi back... Any clue?
Hi guys,
This is not gonna be much info but to let you know it is possible, at a cost.
So I bought an F936N - CSC: KTC (Korean). It came with the KT branding and the nasty bloatware with the extra setting menu for KT.
I was sick of it. I tried Samkey, I tried Samfw frp tool. Nothing worked.
I personally don't care about tripping knox, I don't use Samsung pay, password, or the file vault stuff. I just use google pay (Wallet now)
So I followed this guide:
Change CSC on Samsung Devices (Root)
Install X-plore File Manager app or any other root browser from the Play Store. [googleplay url=”https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lonelycatgames.Xplore”]
Launch the app, go to Root Explorer option and change R/O to R/W.
Navigate to /efs/imei/ folder, edit the CSC code in the mps_code.dat file and save the changes.
Then go to /system/csc/ folder and edit your CSC in the sales_code.dat file. (System/CSC did not exist on my phone. but I did find the file sales_code.dat file within other folders that were named as the CSC such as KTC, SKT, KOO. I deleted all the folders except for KOO.
I just rebooted into download mode and flashed KOO firmware and it worked! No more KT carrier branding crap!
I've yet to try OTA. Not sure if it is no longer working or it is working. I'll wait for an update and see if it picks it up or not.
Update: OTA works
Not sure if we can replace the files from a different vairant such as F936B and flash its firmware... Would that give us the ability to change the phone completely?? Definitely something I am willing to tinker with on my phone but I would need someone to send me the files with an F936B and that person must have their phone rooted.
Cheers!

you can change the csc with samkey! just disabble/remove all sim cards first from the phone, wifi also. no need for root!!
Do you still have your camera working, after Ruth? Is it possible to get root to do what is necessary and abandon them? In this case, will the camera work?

Once rooted you are never going to go back to stock. It physically burns a part of the SoC away. Samsung may have workarounds to fix this but no developer has, as yet, found any. It would probably be in the initialisation of the SoC in the factory. Very Low level format stuff...
Simple explanation, once rooted there's no going back even if you flash a stock ROM...

That is not an international device, F936B. Yours is an F936N device, It is for Korea and for use on their particular networks and not intended for sale by Samsung outside of that area.

It is definitely not an international, F936B, device.
The Korean, F936N, device is only compatible with 1 Indian 5G network band, N78 (3500). See screenshot and link...
Will Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 work in India?
In this page we are going to show you the compatibility of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 with the mobile networks of India and with the telephony operators that provide service in India.

You will need to find an Indian carrier that uses the N78 band in your area, if any.

You are out of luck as you have already found out. The only way around it would be to get the entire motherboard which has the Korean modem, and replace it with an international, F936B, motherboard and modem. Changing the CSC code or flashing a custom ROM, even if one exists, will not change the devices hardware.
TOP TIP: Always buy the model of device that Samsung intended for use in your location.
Thanks a lot for clarification brother. I think I’m gonna sell it asap!
