You qoute is misleading.
The guy you qouted has a UK device and changed his CSC from branded Uk to unbranded UK, which both are on his device..
This guy here has a HK device and wants to to a European CSC. HK devices dont have European CSC on them, so he cant change to them.
Even if he roots the device, copies the CSC he wants from an EU decive to his and managed to change his CSC with wiping, not only he wont get quicker updates, he wont het updates at all because his CSC wont be an official CSC of a HK device

My apologies I guess I misunderstood region csc changes. Thank you for the clarification. I am new to Samsung devices so it's a learning curve! Appreciate the detailed reply
Ok guys no problem....i guess this is the downside of buying a snapdragon....but the only one.
Love this phone!

Try this - Go to "Settings" then "About phone". Write down your IMEI Number. Open dialer and enter *#272*IMEInumber# (In the thread replace IMEInumber with your actual IMEI Number). Press dial, you should see a screen with the list of available CSC codes for your device. Select the CSC that you want and tap the Install option. This method works on the S10, it should work on the S20 as well.

Makes sense, Samsung can sell the same device to all carriers. If it's modeled like OXM on Exynos variants once you insert a compatible SIM the CSC is automatically updated after startup. That's really good news, users can switch carriers without flashing new firmware. Curious if Branded US Models have the same option, I would think they do. Thanks for the info, appreciate it!

Hi,
c
You have to use the same model to flash in Odin. 976B is not 976N.
You can flash the KOO firmware for 976N which is the unbranded version (I bought it myself at a Samsung shop in Seoul).
I tried to flash with 976B and got errors. I flashed with KOO 976N but srill i have brand of KT when i start the phone also some settings of KT.
No idea why KT still stays after flashing

Right, because 976B is not the phone you have. You can't use a different model firmware.
Sounds like you need to change the CSC to KOO after boot up.

You said you flashed KOO firmware. That is not the same thing as switching CSC after booting up.
There is a phone menu to change the CSC. You need to do this, which will change the CSC setting on the EFS partition which is what you need to do.
Woow thank you for that. Now this is new and i didn't know it. Can you help me and let me know where to change CSC.
Thanks

The SM-N976N has 4 CSC options built-in. KOO is the unbranded Samsung code. There are 3 for the 3 major carriers in Korea: SK Telecom, kt Olleh, and LG U+
No I did not change my CSC because I bought my phone in a Samsung store in Seoul.
I have KT one , when i switch one says 5G and under screen KT.
also in setting. I am trying to find the way to change the CSC from KTC to KOO
Active KTC
Edit
Ohhh no way that bad
For me only Samsung pay ,5G, start up the phone, phone can't recognize my number rather than that everything else is perfect.
I am trying to find way to change CSC to KOO, hopefully will work

Do you mean your N10+ doesn't connect to the 5G network even if it's present and working in your zone?
Yes i don't see 5G at all even covered in my country. Always LTE+
Weird.. where are you from?
Our model is 5G, I suppose SM-976B only is suitable for 5G networks over asian countries, hope someone could tell me I'm wrong...

I don't know the specs of the B variant, but my N variant 5g worked in Korea just fine. Haven't been able to test it in the USA yet because T-Mobile doesn't have any 5g towers in my state yet.
In my country, UAE according to bands only N976N working since the are on same 5G band.
N976B isn't working with UAE network (5G). I bought and sold N976B.
Also now N976N is not working coz of carrier, KT from Korea.
I recently obtained a Samsung S20+ SM-G9860. However, I am in the US and am intending to flash the AT&T firmware for the SM-G986U. When I try to do this, I get a secure check fail on the PIT file due to the differing model. Is there a way to circumvent this? The two models have identical hardware from what I can see.
Is it possible to do this, and what is the process for doing this if it is indeed possible?
You cannot flash a rom built for a snapdragon chipset on a phone with a exynos chipset
Be thankful there is that safety check built in. Lol

The hardware isn't identical, SM-G986U is a Single SIM Device, your's is a Dual SIM.. TGY is the CSC in your device and even if you could flash SM-G986U Firmware the CSC would not change, it will still be TGY. If you're looking to get full AT&T call functionality on your device it's not possible as the CSC doesn't support AT&T compatibility. Firmware is CSC specific as well.

But mine has two IMEI numbers though 1 for physical and another for esim, HOWEVER the esim option to add another QR code for another network is not visible. Its like the device is locked for VERIZON esim use only.
Oh well, guess gotta wait for another few month for newer updates to be able to use another network esim or firmware flashing that can enable this option soon...

If your device is the SM-G986U it's a Single SIM Device which doesn't at this point doesn't support eSim. Does the SIM Management Screen actually display the word "eSim"? Share a photo please. The device is likely still locked by Verizon. What is your motivation to change the Firmware to SM-G9860, do you live in Hong Kong?
Im sorry unfortunately I cant post links for my screenshots or upload any pictures..

I bought my phone online.. When I start up my phone it says Verizon, but its unlocked though because I can use any country physical simcard. Like right now im using my local simcard in Malaysia. I live in Malaysia and the reason I want to flash rom my SM-G986U device to Hong Kong firmware is so that I can use any eSim network in my country for my other network phone number.... If its a software for eSim that I can get for firmware that will be very helpful. Because the main local Malaysian samsung s20+ 5G firmware model is base on Exynos 990 which I doubt will fit for my US phone model..
I don't think you can flash SM-9860 Firmware onto your device but even if you could you still won't have eSim capability. Mix and matching firmware typically has more success on Exynos International Variants since they are Multi-CSC Enabled Devices. So if you have a British CSC (VOD) you may have success flashing German Firmware (VD2) since both CSC's are already stored in the device however even then some call features may not work. Snapdragon Devices don't have Multi-CSC's and as mentioned previously the Firmware is CSC Specific, they're made for one another. IF you had an Unlocked Bootloader, which you don't, there may be a method to modify the CSC once you root the device.. I did follow a thread a couple of years back where a gal had some success modifying her CSC on a Snapdragon Device but I believe that was a Galaxy S8. Also, I'm still curious if the word "eSim" actually appears in the SIM Management Screen on your device.

Damn.. that is some nice insights.. I read a thread somewhere too that US SM-G986U cannot and will not be able to enable its OEM or unlocked bootloader.. the eSim actually doesnt appear in the Sim Management Screen on my device. I really want to upload some links of the screenshot but for now I cant do anything as Im a new member.. I just have to wait for the network shop to open up to change my current esim card to physical simcard.. its been 2 months plus of this coronavirus lockdown and our network providers cant do much about it too..
Anyways I really appreciate the insights, like you said even if I could flash in Hong Kong SM-9860 in to my US SM-G986U, I might run into some software or calls dysfunctionalities..

I recently just bought a S20 Ultra that has a unlockable bootloader. A little while back, I had a Galaxy S9 that I could completely convert the entire device to U1. Is that even possible with this device ? To fully convert the CSC and bootloader ect, to a US model ?

That was then. Each model is specific to a region and can not be flash with software from another region. I.E you cannot flash G9880 with firmware from G988U or G988U1 or the other way around.
What exactly changed from the S9 to the S20 that made that impossible ?

Any luck? I just got one in Canada and it only has 3g ad 4g so I was hoping I could flash a csc file.
So I attempted to edit the band config using QPST and QXDM, but I'm very unfamiliar with both programs and how to actually read and write information to the modem using those programs. Definitely not for the average user. Back in the days when devices had ESN numbers, I used to flash software using QPST and QXDM but there is a lot that has changed with those programs, and I wouldn't even know how to do that stuff today. If anyone has any knowledge about those two programs that can help me unlock all the US 5G bands for AT&T and Verizon that would extremely helpful.

I am not sure what I am looking for. Its currently on ATT/ATT.
Open your dialer, enter *#1234#, press the Dial Icon. You'll see CSC: G98??, the next 3 letters will be your device's CSC Code. Your Service Provider's CSC is "ATT" which is different than the CSC in your device. Whether or not you can change the CSC depends on your device's CSC. Device firmware is always configured for the specific, original CSC or Multi CSC's.
This post may be the best workaround.

Your device has Multiple CSC's which are included in OYM so you should be able to change your CSC to ATT, which is the CSC for AT&T.
Go to "Settings" then "About phone". Write down your IMEI Number. Open dialer and enter *#272*IMEInumber# (In the thread replace IMEInumber with your actual IMEI Number). Press the Dial Icon, you should see a screen with the list of available CSC codes for your device. Select ATT and tap the Install option.
Be aware your firmware isn't AT&T, it's unbranded so even if you change the CSC, full call functionality may not be available. You can obtain AT&T's firmware at SamMobile.

Varcor, thank you so much for all the directions.
As it stands right now, it is already on ATT. Once I flash over to the ATT firmware, would I be able to flash back to an unbranded one in the future, for whatever reason? Additionally, do I have to stay on the ATT firmware to retain those features? Or could just having my phone communicate with ATT at least once with my "branded" phone and then flash back retain those features?

You're most welcome. Yes, flashing back to unbranded won't be a problem. I don't think you will be able to retain the features if you go back to the unbranded firmware, it's not configured to allow full call feature functionality. Also, after flashing to the AT&T firmware you may need to contact their CSR for external programing. Good luck!
S20+ AT&T
Hi Varcor,
I'm new in this firmware things. I'm from Singapore and has been using S20 Exynos, but due to the extreme heat, bad battery life, etc. I've decided to import S20+ Snapdragon from AT&T, according to the Service provider SW ver information, it's showing as SAOMC_SM-G986U-OYN_ATT_QQ_0023 (I believe this means the set are unlocked).
With that said, I noticed that the software is outdated and the security patch level is on February 1,2020. when I referring to the AT&T website, It's showing as the latest software is QP1A.190711.020.G986USQU1ATE6 (June update) and mine still on QP1A.190711.020..G986USQU1ATAW (February). My CSC is G986UOYN1ATAW.
My question now is, whenever I tried to hit the software update, it's keep telling me that my software is up to date. Is there's a reason why it's wont detect the update? If it's because I'm in Singapore not US, then there's no choice that I need to flash using the firmware from Sammobile. The problem is which one that I need to download as AT&T carrier is not listed there. There's only T-mobile, Sprint, Unknown, USA. Please help.

I would reach out to SamMobile and inquire why they're not listing the AT&T Firmware Update. You state your CSC is G986UOYN1ATAW. That CSC is also associated with T-Mobile. You're not using an AT&T SIM Card, correct? On a Multi-CSC Device when you insert a different SIM, the device should update to the correct Service Provider. If you're using a SIM from a Service Provider other than AT&T you probably won't receive AT&T Software Updates, which are distributed by Samsung, not AT&T via OTA.

I did try to reach them, but for some reason they are giving me some irrelevant answer. Something like "You probably don't get OTA-updates (otherwise you got them already from AT&T)". We are having a conversation breakdown there, I think they are not an english speaker (or my english is just bad). Really? that CSC is associated with T-Mobile? now I'm getting more confused because the box is stated AT&T and it's sealed.
I'm using Singapore SIM card (Singtel), so you were saying this set I'm using right now is a Multi-CSC device? If i were to flash to the other carrier firmware, will it create any problem?

Flashing Singtel Firmware won't work since it's configured for the Exynos SoC. Multi-SIM Devices have only regional Service Providers available, you don't have Singtel as an option in an AT&T device. Based on your situation I would consider one of two options. The first would be insert an AT&T SIM just for OTA updates. Not sure if you received an AT&T SIM when you purchased the device, if you didn't they're not hard to find. The second and likely best option is sell the device and purchase a Global Variant with a Snapdragon SoC, you'll receive updates regardless of your Service Provider. If it makes you feel any better there's lots of users in the same predicament. They want the Snapdragon device in regions selling mainly Exynos devices. Workarounds are in many situations are challenging,

I have the exact same phone and using the same network as garyHal, unlocked 988U1/OYM/ATT.
I got my bootloader unlocked and decided to apply the ATT firmware (
G988U1UES1BTJ2). My CSC was already ATT so I didn't perform the csc install step.
After setting the phone up as new, it still seems like its running the unlocked mode. I don't see any kind of branding or extra ATT stuff that may have been downloaded. How do I verify that I have the right firmware and CSC set to ATT?
Thank you.

How did you manage to unlock your bootloader since US Snapdragon variants are locked down pretty tight? I don't think the firmware is dedicated to ATT, it's Multi CSC, designed to function with a number of US Carriers. You should be delighted you're not suffering with ATT bloatware! To check the Active CSC go to About Phone, Settings, Software Information, Service Provider SW ver. On the bottom string the first three letters are the Active CSC on your device. You can review this article for additional information on Firmware and CSC's.

If I am reading it correctly, this is what I am seeing:
ATT/ATT/XAA
I am happy that I don't have the ATT bloatware but I also feel that ATT is locking me out of some of their features because I don't have a "branded" phone, such as wifi call or visual voicemail. Am I misunderstanding your post from above, #6, that flashing ATT firmware would give me the carrier features?
Additionally, does the firmware determine what frequency bands I am using and if I am taking full advantage of ATT's offerings?

Flashing ATT Dedicated Firmware would give you the best chance for additional call features ASSUMING your Ulocked Device is capable of incorporating those features. It should do the trick since the hardware is identical to an ATT device. I would head to an ATT Store to get a definitive answer. Samsung has made it more and more challenging to mix and match branded and unlocked devices with CSC or Firmware modifications. In many cases you won't know until you try. Users want their smartphones to be smart, to work perfectly in every situation but the major carriers use proprietary tools to hold clients hostage.

If its hong kong variant then it should have TGY csc
Moreover, you can change csc with samkey(no root required). Buy from ebay

May be after rooting, it can be done but it may corrupt imei as only few users reported this.
Samkey method is very easy. Before buying, contact them and provide all details of your phone to check whether it support your phone or not.

No you are wrong. TGY or BRI are basically same.. Only network connectivity change like 5g, volte, wifi calling support. Don't know about chc but you can change it to tgy or bri.
I read your posts in another csc thread. You should be on default theme. Then install apk. It will show in themes. Then u can change csc
