All in one Chinese car radio, How to change boot image? - Connected Car

Last year, I purchased one of those "all in one" entertainment units.
This is the sellers auction page: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/272979971179?ul_noapp=true
It runs windows CE6.0. Here's some of it's info:

}
I've been trying to figure out how to change the boot image. Making an image in the right colors, size and format is not a problem. But I cannot for the life of me find or figure out how to upload a boot logo/image to the unit or open an image from the firmware to know what format, size, color depth etc to make the new image in.
Right now, it has a "Chevy Bowtie" image but I would like a more Corvette specific one (it's in a 1988 Corvette). I can get into the factory settings to select from preloaded boot images, but there is no option to add a new boot image like you can with the wallpaper. I've contacted the seller and while they could give me the factory options codes, they knew of no way to upload a custom boot image.
I even have the original firmware from the seller, but it seems to be above my pay grade to figure out where the boot images are stored in the bin files.
Here's the firmware/files (it's only an image of the included files) I got from the seller:
I guess I'm just not programming savvy enough to figure it out. I can get around in an OS, but changes are something I'm very limited in knowledge about. I'm guessing i need to find a way to unpack the bin and then a way to edit it. I tried a couple things I found on the internet, but nothing seems to work to unpack the files to an interface I can use to change things. There's no way in heck I'm going to be able to edit hex, that's pretty much just all gibberish to me. I have edited in hex before, but I was following someone's directions who knew what they were doing.
Anyone venture a guess into how to find and change the boot image to a custom one?
To be clear: I can get into the factory menu options and change the boot image, I just can't upload a custom image to the radio. I can for wallpaper section, but not for boot image...

I only know of the T-Mo version of the TP2...
in the phones Windows directory is a file nemad "startup480-800.gif". From the factory, that's the startuip animation I have running at the top of my first post.
Take any other GIF file you like; rename it "startup480-800.gif" and copy it (overwriting the one that's already there) into your phones WINDOWS directory.
I did all this through a sync with my desktop computer.
There's another file similar to it (but with a slightly different name) ... for the shutdown animation
I changed mine to the Windows 7 startup animation. The cab keeps the Tmobile version & just updates the registry to use the new file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4390463&postcount=107
is there a way to get that windows 7 startup to replace the T-Mobile's one?
if you install the cab it replaces the animation. if you want to replace the first "Stick Together" splash then you need to search for the CustomRUU flasher that changes all of that. there was a thread a day or 2 ago either in here or the apps, themes, etc sub forum that had the original HTC TP2 splash.

Yup the one and only
Anychance you could extract it? I'm away from my proper setup for a while.
Simply unyaffs it.
But i don't suggest you to do that cause it suck.
It shows default gingerbread launcher, and default lockscreen, and touchscreen doesn't work.
I managed to get touchcscreen and screen off working, but can't understand where is honeycomb launcher...
That's actually what I wanted to check. Seems they have foregone updating the regular screen layouts. =/
They honeycomb launcher is in the XLarge folders of launcher2.
Seems there's still holding some stuff for AOSP. The HC gallery isn't there either.

(MOD) Knight Rider Boot Animation

Hi All,
First of all I would like to thank to this tread for the great update for our SGS
I was keep my eyes open in almost every day for the update on our SGS
and if this tread is in the wrong section / room please accept my apologize since I am a new here
This was inspired by my love to the knight rider movie ... and after several days searching everywhere I couldn't find the site or link which is related to this, so I am start to learn how to create the own boot animation
and after some trial and error I found the way to make it .. and this the result
okey ... now we move to the point
This boot animation is based to the knight rider movie 2008 (mustang shelby GT500R)
there is three different images and loop for the sequence.
and these bootanimation is rotated due to the source images orientation.
First sequence will shown the intro (looped 1 time)
the images is shown bellow
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
second one will shown the KITT attack mode transformation (looped twice)
the images is shown bellow
and the last sequence is just the KNIGHT RIDER wording (looped 3 times)
the images is shown bellow
to instal it is easy ;
- make sure your phone is root (I am sure most of the custom rom user will rooted by default)
- using root explorer (you can get this for free in the market)
- navigate to \system\media
- do a backup on the current bootanimation.zip (you can simply rename this file to another) just incase you not like mine so you can revert to the one that you already have
- afterwards paste the file to this directory
- do a reboot and see the KITT in action
if you need a custom bootanimation, I can make it for you
just give me the movie / images sequence and let me know your device type
note : make sure you rename the attached file first to bootanimation.zip
please give a try and hit me with your feedback

Cyan Nexus .qmg bootanimation files

For Samsung Galaxy Note 3
I've taken the liberty of creating the .qmg version of the cyan nexus boot animation since Samsung decided to pull a douche bag move by creating their own boot animation setup. It is very cumbersome, to say the least, to get custom boot animations without the standard "bootanimation.zip". The stock boot animation annoys me with the bright white Verizon splash in it.
Keep in mind these are based off the original so it will be stretched (and a tad grainy) to fit the Note 3's resolution. I've had to edit each and every individual frame in Photoshop to give it a 16:9 aspect ratio so that it doesn't become distorted and stretched out of it's proper parameters. It's not completely awful but it's not super crisp either. Now that I've figured out how to do it I'll be moving on to boot animations made for higher resolution phones so they look crisp. But this is the first time converting one for me.
1. First and foremost obviously you must be rooted and have root explorer.
2. Download and extract the zip in the attachments to your phone or push them through from the computer. It contains the 2 files needed for a bootanimation.
3. It is also always good practice to backup your phone in safestrap made possible by Hascode, MANY thanks for that.
4. Once you have everything, open root explorer and navigate to system/media and backup two files "bootsamsung.qmg" AND "bootsamsungloop.qmg".
5. After backing them up to another location on your internal or external storage, delete them from system/media and replace them with the 2 files that you extracted from the zip. Reboot and enjoy a non-stock Verizon-Free bootanimation.
Of course this is at your own risk, but it worked for me.

Can't recover all my formatted stuff.

Hi guys this is my first post in xda developers but i've always solved my troubles with your help. But now i really need to expose my problem, cause actually i can't find a solution even if there are many posts about it.
I changed my clockworkmod from 6.0.1.0 to 6.0.4.5 to flash a 4.4 android version rom on my galaxy w.
everything went okay, i guess but i had some issues with photo gallery (kinda everything duplicated, so i had a bunch of ''useless-double-files'').
One day later I decided to go back to my 4.0 rom and here the mess begins. I tried a restore from cwm but i couldn't because there was an error about restoring /data (but there's still the recovery date in that list) so I re-flash the 6.0.1.0 cwm and the 4.0 android rom, but when i turn off my phone all my pictures was GONE.
I plug my device to my computer and it says that the available space is almost full, like when the mess wasn't happen, but when i browse the pictures i can't find them. :crying:
I tried this and everything goes til this:

(even if my .raw is only 8mb???? )
edit: i looked up in partitions of my phone here and i re-did all this but downloading mmcblk0 instaed of mmcblk0p12 that was only 8mb. this is goin over 1,80 gb. is this the correct partition?
how can I turn .raw file in files?
Please help me guys, i literally waste my all day.
(Sorry for my bad english tho)
(sorry for double posting) i've got news..
i finally got my .raw / .vhd files. they are
mmcblk0p28 (that is my mnt/sdcard stuff 1,7 gb like my internal storage phone is. it's 100% full but i didn't find much.. only small pictures)
mmcblk0p17 (that is /data and i find not much pictures in this)
then i tried mmcblk0 that was the largest file (the whole phone i guess?) but when I attach it as a vhd in disk management it comes already partitioned and allocated. what does it mean??
should i give up? i will never get my pictures back? :crying:
