Hi all
i'm an engineer doing R&D for Leaf Wireless in South Africa. We supply wireless solutions and HTC phones to Africa.
i'm going to Taiwan to meet and recieve training from the HTC engineers from monday the 12th. And since i've received so much help from XDA developers in the past i thought i'd offer.
if there are any customisation questions you have or HTC issues that are proving difficult to solve post them here. i'll ask the guys when i get there and try get some answers.
cheers,
Greg
hmm this thread sounds like it could take off.
i dont think you know what you got yourself into supaspud. i know lots of people are going to have questions and suggestions for htc.
i for one would like to see them implement a wheel mouse not unlike the one in the danger sidekick 3. that would make wm experience 100 times better.
also ask if crossbow will officially be released as an upgrade for the wizard.
when i think of more questions or suggestions ill reply again
?Why don't they make a full size (3.5" or whatever) screen in a cdma with more memory. Hell it doesn't even have to be vga. I use mine as a pda, if I wanted a tiny screen, I'd just get a damn phone.

Save yourself the bother. It would be up to the telco's to decide on releasing an official update and they would then pay HTC to build the rom. Expect that to happen about the same time as the telco's decide to donate all their profits to third world charities.
It's not a telco thing. If you are refering to the companies who re-brand the HTC machines (most of whom are not telcos) the decision will be based mostly on whether HTC will actually supply the ROM and at what cost if any. They would have a fairly good idea about what they are going to do for some machines as they own one such company that retails their machines (Dopod). Find out about possibility of Artemis crossbow ROM if you can
Linux
It would be interesting to get their opinion on Linux on the HTC platform, and whether they would consider contributing to the development of a well rounded Linux based phone environment.
Yes, their opinion on linux would be good to know
Ask if they have any future plans to support it officially.
Ask them what (apart from soldering the chips on and editing the rom file for memory alocation) needs to be done to make 128mb of ram work on UNIVERSAL (it origionally had it, so the motherboard supports it and it can work
Hello Leaf Wireless
Well, well Greg, I thought that Leaf would not come out of the closet.
I have been the source of information till now, but now please take the stage.
A few months back I introduced a few of your staff to the XDA site.
I am now and then fed tit bits of information which I share on the forum. The ROM 1.35 update is a good example.
There are some clever guys here and we can all all learn together.
The problems I raised with Renier was:
1. Storage card getting lost in Media Player
2. Windows 5 is full of unresloved problems, with the BT stack poor.
3. Battery life on 3G is shocking. I have upgraded to 1.27 to see if things improve.
4. I have an Email from Dan Mackie @HTC Eupope stating that an Major ROM upgrade would be released at the end of January 2007, "to resolve all known issues on the TyTN". Nothing has happened yet!
The issue with the storage card was a known issue and I was informed at the end of September that it would be sorted with the next upgrade.
It hasn't happened yet but I have noticed that the TyTN's that you have received do not have this problem.
Please feel free to contact me should you wish.
Enjoy the trip and let me have a copy of the new ROM before you leave.
Regards
A wish list would be for the keyboard have some kind of a lock to prevent it opening when retrieving from the pouch. I find that I often drop call on closing the keyboard.
The magnets in the pouch are also troublesome and cause screen rotation and also dropped calls at times when rotating back.
GPS in the Hermes
What component of software (hardware??) is missing in the Tytn compared to the Trinity to make the GPS work.
Thanks
Francisco
PS. My first post, and I would like to thanks all the excellent XDA-developers community for this great forum.
@SupaSpud: Tell them to produce a Hermes with VGA screen and GPS and 256Mb ROM, RAM....
Thanks.

Several people have already asked this question:
- How can we install 128Mb RAM on Universal?
HTC never replied.
sheesh...
wow... looks like I opened up pandora's box. i'm making a list of all the queries and i'll ask them on monday. keep em coming...
ps: i'll find out bout the rom now.
Hey SSpud - gr8 offer !
1. I''d like you to ask why they dont set the default Bluetooth (a2dp) to Stereo (and the bit rate / max bit rate to 40+) ... and generally fix stereo BT.
2. How do they acvtually work with customers (eg BT in the UK) .... I get the inpression they are extremely slow and unresponsive.
2. Camera - if even cheap sony ericons can have autofocus and macro settings why cant HTC ?
3. Stereo Jacks (3.5 or 2.5mm)
4. Direct access to microSD card
5. When will they update their FAQ's and trouble shooting guides beyond the patronising " check that it is turned on type " answers.
Thanks for this oportunity !!
(I'm especially intersted efor Artemis/ XDA orbit)
Hello 'Spud,
Apart from sorting/mentioning the listed problems here - especially the poor bluetooth stack IMO - please do bump the question regarding their future GPS roadmap for TyTN/Hermes series of phones.
Now that will make a true convergence of technologies.
Kind regards,
Mine is a small and trivial request... could they please please please fix the battery meter on the hermes... the [email protected] +/- 10% drives me nuts... wish we could get the +/- 1% like the other devices.

Tell the guys at HTC to watch the XDA-Developers site to find out what's wrong with their phones and what features are needed to turn them into great devices - remember the IPhone is comming!
Basil
Tell them not to save cents in devices that cost hundred of dollars. For instance they use cheap and weak cpus like samsung (which has only ARMv4T) ot OMAP with it's low clock frequencies. Or they save memory and instead of using 128MB or more RAM! RAM is cheap! I'd like to see smaller touchscreen displays with VGA resolution! Look at the size and resolution of some nokias: E60 or E70. I'd like to see hermes (device with foldable keyboard) with gps, 624MHz intel cpu, 128MB RAM and 2.2 inch touchscreen in the near future!
YES! Tell them about this forum! Tell them not to do stupid things in locking their devices - this simply reduces their markets!
And tell them that maybe it is about time to see their x86 UMPC! Look at the sony vaio UX180P or UX280P!

I'm not exactly sure of what you mean about the wheel mouse. You mean like the one the Artemis has?
As for crossbow going onto the Wizard... i don't think that'll happen. But i'll double check.

I can't say too much, but if the rumour I heard is true, you might get something like that in the second half of this year. *wink-wink, nudge-nudge*
Hi there people and thanks in advance for any help/tips/advice given.
Ive just come from being on WinMo (since the Universal, Kaiser, Tytn 2,Touch Pro2,HD2) and have to say within the 2 months ive had my HTC Desire, on the whole im glad i made the move.
My last phone was the awesome HD2, which even now i still miss even though the Desire is more of what im looking for in regards to having on me (HD2 is a lil big for my lifestyle).
I used to upgrade ROMs constantly, usually using NRGZ28s as i just found them to enhance the experience that little bit more.
As a noob to Android im looking for help in regards to the following:
1) Is there any apps to allow storage of apps from the "market store" to apply to the mem card as im having to constantly juggle what im using?
2) Is an app such as Win Vibe? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGs0HZ4vHro) i loved this app as it was a nice display to have when playing back my tunes through my speaker set up in my room, gone are the days of hifis for me lol!
Id love any info in regards to a program that looks very similar in regards to functions and the graphic displays, visuals are so much better than just album art.
3) Obviously being a modder as apposed to programmer i know that AVI support is very ltd atm YXFlash player being the only option i know of yet unless you guys know of any free apps that can...?
Im sure ill have plenty of new questions over the next coming months and again id like to thank all now for any help, look forward to hearing from you all

Hi all,
I have bought a new in the box Touch Pro 2 which should be with me soon. I used to have a T-mobile (UK) tied Touch Diamond which had it's screen backlight fried by a dodgt aftermarket battery which was badged as OEM.
I'm not a huge fan of WM but it reliably runs memory map which I need for the digital Ordnance Survey maps I have. I like having a physical keyboard and a processor speed which doesn't empty the battery too quickly, so the TP2 seems to tick the boxes.
Then I read here that I can also boot Android or Ubuntu on it. Happy days, I've been hacking around with linux since the 90's. I have a couple of upfront questions about the best options to use but I'll do some more reading around before I muddy the grass with my size 11's.

Hello and welcome to the forums.
Hope you enjoy your Touch Pro2 experience. Feel free to look around and ask questions if you have some.
I'm pretty sure after a while you're going to change your rom. We have plenty of different flavors here made by skilled chefs. It's a pity that the development has really go down this year.

Hi Jackos and thanks for the welcome. Yes, I can see the TP2 is yesterdays technology now, but might be ideal for my needs - 1.5Ghz whizzy processors eat battery! Plus I just bought a brand new device for about 1/3 of the price of a second user Desire Z...
I'll be looking to install a light footprint and economical ROM. I actually enjoy getting the best out of obsolete hardware, and sleuthing the info needed to do it.
I even managed to get some old 5 1/4" IBM SCSI hard drives running on some SUN 4M architecture kit under Red Hat for Sparc. Playing guess the heads/cylinders numbers is probably nearly as exciting as flashing your first smartphone ROM.
By the way, I tried to get to Wrocław last year to go walking in the Tatra mountains, but was denied by the icelandic ash cloud.

There ARE a lot of Roms available. Thanks to the developers to give us so many choices. But it is hard for a noob to choose one. Anyways, I just got my TP2 as well and I am reading a bunch of different posts here to know how to play with my new toy.

Hi Himalayas and welcome. My TP2 just arrived today, it's a RHOD100 (hurrah!) and I'm letting it fully charge before I play. It looks like one of the energy ROM's is the one to go for, especially if you're planning to run Android too. Not that I know anything much yet.
Well, my lady took an instant shine to my TP2 and offered a swap for her HTC Desire - she can't deal with the touchscreen keyboard very well and loves the TP2 physical qwerty. So I downloaded MM-Tracker and loaded a chunk of an OS map for our area. It 'just_works' (tm) so I guess I'll be learning a lot about Android now.
She might miss a few Android apps so I may be back to play with flashing an energyROM and loading up froyo at some point.
Cheers.
welcome!
Hey, please excuse my ignorance, I am trying to make sense of all the knowledge that is floating around and wanted to ask if someone might be so kind to maybe just throw a name out there.
We have a 2005 car so don’t want to spend more than 200$ for a Headunit that would be used exclusively for music and Apple CarPlay + a Backup Camera.
happy to order from China.
i tried to read a lot about the different CPUs but find myself super confused on which unit might be MTCD and whether more ram + px5 or less ram + px6 might be the way to go.
thanks a lot, really appreciate it! I hope I don’t sound lazy!
HA or GS
Hi all, I've got a PX5 (MX) in my Hyundai i30, unfortunately it's just very slow. Particularly swiping to type. I know my one only has 2gb of ram, but it's definitely much slower than android phones with similar specs.
Everything just takes long to load. For example Google assistant takes about 3 seconds from when I press the button to when I can talk to it.
I'm currently running a custom Magisc ROM with Android 10, but this problem has definitely also been around when I had stock ROMs installed and across android 8, 9 and 10.
I've done a search and there are some posts from a few years ago, but other than uninstalling all Google services, there weren't really any suggestions.
Given there aren't many people complaining about almost unusable slow units, I'm thinking maybe mine is slower than others.
Any suggestions?
Would love to hear others, and would love if somebody contradicts me, but my unit also became laggy with time. Most noticeable when interacting Google Maps (to the point of becoming annoying) mainly when I need to input a new address. Music works OK, and I do not really use assistant. I went back to Android 8 (Hal9K) but that did not help much.
I think is just the HW and the fact that apps (not only the OS) become more and more resource-hungry with newer versions. I'd challenge that you can find a phone with the same old specs of PX5, and I know Google has launched a web-based "Google Maps"(reduced) to solve complains in old phones.
But would love if somebody can contradict me and provide some hints for a deep-cleaning
In the meantime, praying that some china company will launch new devices on 2022 based on the latest RK with 4xA76 (yea, I know, too new...will taje some time)

Thanks for your reply, glad I'm not the only one. Do you mind telling me the specs of your one? 2Gb of RAM as well?
Have you both observed px5 temps?

Between 42°C and 67°C when I had a look, but changing very rapidly.
Ambient temperature around 28°C, car cabin temperature maybe 24°C.
I know for a PC CPU this would be considered running very cool.

I have been looking at them... but I understand they forcefully remove Google Assistant to use their own assistant, and that is a blocking point for me on two accounts: first I have most of my data on Google (for good or bad), second I am not sure I can trust a HW provider which blocks SW / wants to decide which SW I am allowed to use...
But thanks for the advice. I have heard they are good units and not everybody is aware of them. Other people looking at this thread could benefit by taking a look at them
Hi all, I'm pretty new to this scene and was hoping for some support and guidance from the community. And apologies if I'm hijacking the post but all other threads seemed dead with old replies. I have recently purchased a 2nd hand car which had a PX5 head unit. I will post the device details below, but I was hoping you could point me in the right direction to download a newer and compatible firmware/mcu for my unit. I'm used to flash custom rom/firmwares on android mobile phones so I do understand the process itself quite well, it's just the firmware/mcu compatibility with this device that I'm unsure of. Thank you in advance for the support.

I am not familiar with KGL Units, but according to this post they are compatible with Dasaita/HotAudio SW, and there is a thread on the MTCD General Questions subforum with links to the latest firmware for the Dasaita/HA MCU (although I haven't really seen any advantage of updating the firmware for several years... I think that since 2018 they have focused more on fixing bugs for MTC-E mainboards and newer ones rather than MTC-D). If you do not know if you have a MTC-D or a MTC-E, check if the board has an actual DSP-daughterboard or not (the "MTC-E" version that is reported on settings indicates that you have a MTC-D/MTC-E SW release and not that your board is really MTC-E)
As for Android itself, I wouldn't recommend to update it to Android 9. I have noticed SOME responsiveness improvement with Hal9K mod in Android 10, but you might loose the Bluetooth as Android 10 is not compatible with some old chipsets (check on the discussion about that in HW-Development, and the proposed solution)
