Install Droid Info from app store
Open Droid Info
Look for the Board line
That is the device codename
It will be like ford, Thor, Saturn....
Look for root method for that codename

The yellow triangle has been long gone for awhile in reference to the 1st gen (6.3.1)
10.2.3 is NOT the original Kindle Fire.

Ok.......what type of computer are you using.....that info would be helpful for those who have more knowledge
Also, what are you trying to accomplish.
Having the same issue. Tried on three laptops, two with Windows 7 and one with Windows 8. One of the laptops didn't have any ADB drivers installed perviously. Tried the drivers included in KFU, the Amazon drivers in the Android SDK, as well as a modified Google WinUSB. Getting Code 43 upon plugging it in. If I manually pick Kindle Fire from the driver list, I then encounter Code 10. Tried factory resetting the Kindle Fire. The device functions 100% other than this issue so I am very confused what the problem is. It is on the latest version,
Same Prob!
Trying to flash a ROM to my "bricked" kindle using TWRP, but my computer won't recognize my kindle at all, not even in KFU, should I try a different computer?
same issue - just rooted and flashed today, and after installing CM10.1 Jelly Bean 4.2.2, none of my computers (1 Win8, 1 Win7) will recognize it in device manager. i really don't know what to do...
as a workaround, is there another way to transfer a .apk file to the kindle without connecting to a computer? I'm just trying to get Google Play so I can operate it independently of a computer...
to Rocket Nine and further: what TWRP version are you running? what were you running before this happened? what ROM are you currently running?
siudan1977: there is already Google Play on your device, given that you also flashed a Gapps. if you didn't, download one from the place that your ROM came from, but on your kindle. not your computer. then boot into TWRP, and flash the Gapps package you downloaded.

Thanks so much for the response! Downloaded Gapps on my kindle, but can't boot to TWRP now - other videos showed the way to cycle through options with the power button, but that doesn't show up for me - goes straight from the kindle fire logo (no text at bottom) to the CyanogenMod loading screen. any ideas what might be going on?
is your kindle logo blue and white? does it have 1.4a in the upper right corner?

it is not blue and white...the amazon orange color for "fire"
incidentally, now it won't turn on even after charging....power button is green but pressing it does nothing. yikes...

[Q] I wiped my KFHD 8.9 OS how can I reinstall a OS ?

How can I push an OS back to my Kindle Fire HD 8.9. All i have is TWRP and a 2nd bootloader? ADB is unresponsive and I can get my Kindle into fastboot.
Depending on which method u want to use, if your aiming to use twrp to fix it I'm guessing u might be using an older version that isn't recognized by windows with the adb drivers u had SK you would have to force install them, after that u would just use adb side load to side load a stock rooted amazon is or any other. If you want the fast boot approach then try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011126
I think if you use the second method then u can still keep your twrp+ 2nd bootloader as well.

When you open up device manager does it show a yellow triangle? And what met hood are u using adb, mounting internal storage via twrrp, or side loading adb?

[Q] Confused, 6.3.2 and 6.3.1

The sticky says I need to look in the KFHD and KF2 forums if I am not 6.3.1 or less.
So again, if your device is NOT running software version 6.3.1 or earlier, you are probably in the wrong place

Ok, so since my device says 6.3.2 I went to the 7" KFHD general forum.
The first sticky I read there says that 1st gen KF devices are 6.3.2 or less.
Devices running a software version of 6.3.2 or earlier is a 1st generation Kindle Fire. All other versions belong to 2nd generation Kindle Fires.

This is conflicting information. Or, am I reading something wrong?
I have a 6.3.2 what thread shows me how to root and flash a nice rom?
Sticky has not been updated in sometime, use the kindle fire utility

Can I change ROM without fastboot cable?

Hi,
I got as far as rooting my Kindle then realised I needed a specific cable to enter fastboot mode. Is there a way to install twrp and a different ROM without it or do I need to go and buy one?
