I have a galaxy A50 and recently rooted it and installed twrp recovery and then again flashed the stock image. Now when I boot the phone it shows that ugly bootloader warning. Can I lock the bootloader now?
And also
Will I receive updates?, as the phone status is official.
Im not sure but i think you lost OTA updates even after relocking the bootloader since your knox status is tripped but thats not a big issue since you can still use odin to update your phone.
to remove the bootloader warning you have 2 options:
1- Relock the bootloader since you have stock official rom. To do that you need to turn off the phone, hold V+ and V- and connect the usb cable to your pc, the phone will enter a "special" download mode, long press V+ to relock your bootloader, the phone will factory reset with locked bootloader .
2- Use this method to just remove the warning and keep your phone bootloader unlocked with official or rooted/modded firmware.

Hi all,
I received my Nexus with 4.0.4 and after OTA update (4.1 JB) I had the following problem;
1) settings->mobile networks says (no sim)
2) *#60* says IMEI null/null
3) broadband version says 'unknown'.(device was not rooted at that time).
I tried several things to fix it by no luck at all. Could you please help me with the below questions? I searched a lot but no clear answer.
1) Does rooting void warranty? (I used Nexus Root Toolkit for rooting)
2) I used Nexus Root Toolkit to flash stock + lock the Galaxy Nexus. Can Samsung detect whether the device is rooted or not in the service? Does Nexus Root Toolkit's flash stock function wipes the data&cache and everything totally? (By the way it installed 4.1.1 as stock not 4.0.4 that I had when I received the device)
I will apreciate if you have any clear answers as I could not even use my phone for 1 day because of that official OTA update. Rooting is less risky than OTA I guess.
Thanks,
unroot, relock if you havent already, return the device.

Yea I would definitely just return the device.

When I press power + volume up&down bootloader menu appears. I can select to restart boot loader or recovery mode or shut dwon via that menu.
is it normal to have that on an unrooted phone? I already performed flash stock + lock operations.

This is normal as every Android phone has a recovery and a bootloader; a lot of people prefer an alternative to the stock recovery and usually will unlock a bootloader to do so and we need these things in the first place to get more creative with our devices .

Hi,
I have the same problem even I do not have a SIM Card installed on the phone.
I checked the status without a SIM Card and IMEI/Baseband still seem as UNKNOWN.
Hi,
I've just got the latest update. I'm on a rooted stock rom with unlocked bootloader and TWRP. I know I have to return to stock recovery before updating, but do I need to relock?
If not, will I still have root after updating? will the bootloader stay unlocked?
Thanks!
Yes bootloader can stay unlocked and will be unlocked after the update, root will be automatically be removed. You can reroot afterwards
Thanks for your quick reply.
I've also noticed something wierd with my keyboards (stock and swiftkey3) - When pressing '7' through the digit keyboard or longpress, in some apps the app crashes and restarts. can't punch in a password for my health care!
any ideas?
If you are on stock rom....no don't have an idea at the moment
• Purpose of this thread is Just to know
• What would be the consequences to take if I flashed a custom recovery with locked bootloader
• eMMC of my old LG G3 had gone to techiy heaven when I didn't unlock the bootloader
no its not possible to flash custom stuff with locked BL how ever its possible to switch between openbeta rom and stable oos rom ( stock )
With a locked bootloader, the phone will refuse to flash any file not signed with OnePlus's key. The bootloader only prevents you flashing an image through fastboot thought, so you could technically still flash images if you manage to load a custom recovery on the phone while the bootloader is locked. Certain phones with unlockable bootloaders may have exploits that allow users to install a custom recovery, though this is highly unadvisable as there is a real chance that you'll brick your phone. If you try to flash a custom recovery while the bootloader is locked, you'll just get an error message.
Thanks Lads !
Quite couraged me to get back to work
So long story short, my rom (nitrogenOS, great rom BTW) got corrupt (or so I thought) and I had to wipe all data to re-install it clean.
But now I'm in a position where my phone has no rom, no recovery (neither TWRP nor stock) and both my bootloader and bootloader critical are locked (Last time I had to lock and unlock them to prevent bootloop before flashing stock OS, I don't know why)
Now I can't boot into twrp or absolutely anything, and cannot unlock the bootloader either because it says "Flashing unlock is not allowed".
Is my device 100% unrecoverable?
Going to have to go back to JBHifi (Australia) and have them send it to google
Any thing I can still do to recover the device?!

you might be able to fastboot boot path/to/recovey.img like when you were flashing twrp but im not sure if that works on locked devices try it with a factory image with the recovery extracted and if that works you can sideload the full ota in recovery.
and possibly lgs flashtool can rewrite the phone with it locked but idk if there are imgs out there or if it works with pixel 2 xl
for next time never lock your phone on a custom rom really never relock once unlocked there is no need to and it only takes away your recovery options

How the heck did your bootloader get locked if you didn't do it yourself?? Do you get your phone ID displayed when you type in "fastboot devices" in bootloader mode???
You probably ended up switching slots when you reflashed. You need to use Deuces flashing script. Say yes to unlocking.
Try downloading and installing skipsoft tools. It might not see your device but try. If it doesn't see it, manually select your device. Have it install USB drivers. Restart skipsoft and see if it sees your device then. I got into a situation once where in fastboot it showed something like a corrupt bootloader and my computer could not see my device. After messing with the phone with skipsoft running, skipsoft could see it when my computer couldn't.
Hello,
I just Unlocked the bootloader of my Samsung A50.
Now I want to undo the bootloader unlock, I mean I want to lock the bootloader as previous.
Is there any way to do this?
Best regards,
Habib.

Locking bootloader won't be any useful as with unlocking knox is tripped which is a hardware fuse.
Only way to properly lock and restore knox is to change the motherboard.
Bootloader Lock
I don't know if this makes sense or something
I have Galaxy A50 A505F/FD and I recently unlocked it's OEM. I don't know if OEM is the same as bootloader. So I wanted to root the phone but I was unsuccessful and I always had that warning that comes up when you are starting the phone that prompts you that the bootloder is unlocked so it is not protected by Knox. All i did is pass through the unlocking options and locking the bootloader came up again and i successfully locked it again. It is now functioning perfectly. No problems. Maybe that's what you need
Please bare in mind that all your data will be erased so it is better you back up first
-back up all your data
-shut down the phone
-hold volume up and down at the same time
-plug-in your cable connected to pc
when the blue-ish screen comes up, release the buttons and you can also remove the cable
-select bootloder unlock option by long pressing volume up button
-select Lock bootloader
-phone will erase all your data
you are set to go
Thank me later
