So the pen accidentally fell down and now it is malfunctioning. The pen gets detected by the tablet(small ring pointer can be seen) but scrolling or writing can't be carried out. I changed the tip(used both white and black) but the issue persists. Also i have to press hard on the button of the s pen for it to work.
Is there a fix or should i buy another pen?

so as i was messing with the phone today i found that if you hold the S-pen near the phone to show airview and you push in the pen tip, it acts as though you touched the screen. I prefer using this actually than to the actually touching of the screen, anyone know if there's gonna be a way to use the button to actually simulate touching the screen?
I've noticed it to, can be a bit annoying when it happens by mistake
noted for future reference on my Note 2
Hey guys.
i have the device for couple of weeks and suddenly the notification bar won't scroll down and three restart popup menu is different - I attached a screen shot.
The problem is disappearing after a device shutdown and comes back after couple of minutes. Restart doesn't fix it.
Also when I click the OK button in the restart menu it does nothing and when I click the cancel button it functions as the OK button.
Thanks in advance.

I got the Note 10.1 2014 a few days ago and was facing the exact same issue much to my extreme consternation. In my case, I finally figured out it had to do with the auto wake/lock magnet in the book cover I was using. Normally, when the magnet approaches the top part of the screen where the Samsung logo is situated, the sensor in the tablet detects it and turns the screen off. In addition it locks the notification bar and the hardware keys. When the magnet withdraws, it unlocks these and wakes up the screen. Now when you fold the book cover against the back of the tablet like I was doing when using it, the tablet is so thin that the magnet triggers the auto wake/lock sensor on the front and interferes with the normal operation of the screen. It turns the screen off the moment your hand is removed no matter how long it's set to remain on. It locks the notification bar and the hardware keys.
The solution: Use a non-magnetic case. The added advantage of this is that there is some evidence that a magnetic case will mess up the digitizer field and cause S-Pen malfunctions that could be permanent.
I hope this solves your problem, do post back to let us know if this helped!

Hey, thanks for the response, I don't use a magnetic case, but a regular one.
in the last week the problem disappeared and back on today.

Hi, on my tablet was the auto wake-up function activated with an hiiden magnet in my cover.
Try to open the cover only 180° without putting on the back of the tablet and verify...
PS: The S-View function (that controls this thing) cannot be de-activated, AFAIK.
My touch screen works fine except for the lower part of the screen. The portion that is not registering is the part where the quick launch icons are as well as the "back" and "options" button on the bottom. This started happening after a little rain got on it. I took it apart and tried cleaning all of the connections with isopropyl but I am still having this issue. Are there any connectors or anything else I should look for to help resolve this?
Thank you!
Darren
I've been experiencing a weird issue with every keyboard app I've tried, and I would appreciate some help.
This problem started occurring only after the most recent updates. About 90% of the time that I hit the space bar on the keyboard, it registers as a double tap inserting two spaces. The phone vibrates 2x in rapid succession to indicate that two touches are being registered.
This also happens when I hold the space bar down, except the two phone vibrations are a little further apart when I hold the space bar down. This prevents me from being able to long tap the space bar (switch between language input). No other keys / apps appear to behave this way. I've tried the dialer touchscreen FW update trick as well with no success.
It's been a pain to type anything on my phone and any help would be awesome.

Replying to my own thread here. I think I found a fix (at least for now).
I spoke with Samsung / T-Mobile service and I was able to rule out this being a software issue. I took off my screen protector and the problem still persisted, so it wasn't a screen protector issue. I then took off my case, pressed down firmly on the affected area of the screen, squeezed the top and bottom of the phone firmly together, and squeezed the sides/edges of the phone together firmly around the affected area. I have not been able to reproduce the double tapping issue since.
My best guess is that this might have been a physical issue having to do with the curved shape of the screen?
I think the mods can close this one down. Thanks.
**NEVERMIND - the issue is back. Anyone?**
It started with it being hard to press 1,q etc keys on keyboard. When I enter developer settings and enable pointer location ,I realise it doesn't register at least hundred pixels on entire left and right sides of screen. Quite annoying. My gf phone is slowly going that way also.. any ideas apart from replace screen or phone? Also around entire edges of phone it looks like screen is delaminating,i.e. a lines and checkers pattern shows....
I have the same problem. It started with a crack, when the phone was bent too much (see picture).
But the unresponsive left edge started later, after I had fixed the phone in a car cradle. Probably the cradle held the phone too hard.
I noticed it because I was using gesture navigation and I couldn't use the back gesture when swiping from the left side. The right side still works in general, but in some apps I have a problem on the top right edge with the 3 button menu button.
You can check your touchscreen in the hardware test menu (*#*#6484#*#*) with test 8 Touchpanel edge.
Also test 7 ITO fails for my device.
Sorry, I have no advice for your problem.
My personal solution for this problem is: I will dump this device, which had hardware problems right from the start (like bluetooth disturbing WLAN) and lots of software bugs, which Xiaomi is not willing to fix. Instead a Pixel 4a will be my daily driver in a few weeks.
My problems also started after bending the entire phone.. was looking at replacement lcd and frames but in reviews they seem to not have proximity sensor..maybe just get a new phone and have this as backup..
