Bit of help needed - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

Hi all after a bit of advice
Decided to unlock my bootloader and install twrp on my phone OP5T to install a custom rom (extendedui)
Once I tried to install the rom if mentioned I needed 9.0.10 firmware so I downloaded the OTA zip and it would not install it
So I tried to install another version of twrp
Now I cannot boot into recovery I just get a blue flashing led
I can still boot into fastboot mode how do I fix this problem
Feel a bit dumb

@gap30
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/oneplus-5t-unbricking-tool-confirmation-t3733012/
U need to unbrick the device
Follow procedure in above link
Here's video tutorial for the same
https://youtu.be/PpLvmID1wdI

start by making recovery work again
first of all - don't panic. probably the worst you can do is losing all your data. you did back up, right?
the procedure changes a bit from Android 8 and 9 it helps to read the entire thread before you start.
I would start here: (but there are many posts with TWRP or "recovery" in the "development" area)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-oreo-8-0-8-1-t3729673
you can still fastboot so you are good
> fastboot flash recovery xxxxxxxx.img
> fastboot reboot
good luck and let us know if you succeed?

You never go full retard! [emoji23]

Ok i am now back to stock yes i went full retard

Ok so I had originally installed twrp by codeworx but where I got stuck was requiring firmware above 9.0.10 to install the custom rom
I downloaded the latest OTA zip but was unable to install it and thats where my problems started
When I unlock the bootloader it wipes your phone back to factory settings correct?
Do i have to update the phone to 9.0.11 then install the custom rom

Which procedure you followed? Mention pls
In case if any1 face same problem in future
---------- Post added at 10:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:15 AM ----------
It's written in procedure for flashing any custom rom that u hv to flash latest firmware first which is 9.0.11
What's your current status now?

back to stock 9.0.11
I followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/oneplus-5t-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3704592
I have rooted this phone in the past in fact I have rooted many phones lol
So now the procedure has changed I have to unlock the bootloader/root then update to 9.0.11?
But if i update will I not lose root?
1. Download the proper flashable ZIP for your device
2. Reboot to Recovery
3. Wipe Data/Cache/System
4 Flash vendor/firmware for your device
5. Flash the ROM
6. Flash Magisk (Optional)
7. Reboot to System
Its step 4 where the problems started as i had unlocked the bootloader my phone was back to stock how do i flash vendor/firmware ie 9.0.11

Ok for unlock bootloader and root pls follow this link
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...5t-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3704592/amp/
For any custom rom
- boot into recovery
- wipe dalvik cache,cache,system,data,vender
- flash latest firmware 9.0.11
- flash rom, gapps(if not included in rom)
- flash magisk (to keep root and recovery)
- restart into system
- enjoy
(If you bootloop into recovery then u hv to wipe internal storage)
(If you update and not flash magisk then only u will loose root.....so flash magisk and you are rooted?)
Follow procedure and let me know ?
---------- Post added at 10:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:42 AM ----------
Your phone still flashing that blue led light? Or you hv solved that?

Back to stock 9.0.11 atm so if i unlock the bootloader again i will be back to 4.74 i take it
how do i flash latest firmware 9.0.11 in twrp?
I downloaded the latest OTA and it would not let me install it in twrp
OnePlus5TOxygen_43_OTA_054_all_2002242025_cb8fe710.zip
Also I was using the latest twrp: 20190908

https://sourceforge.net/projects/ma...Dumpling/firmware_H053_oneplus5T.zip/download
Latest firmware
Try flashing another custom rom
If nothing happened then pls follow this

Hello,

Last couple of days, I received a notification to update for android 6.0, but after I downloaded the update and press to "install now", the phone always restarted to TWRP recovery and do not install the update. Any Idea Why ?!!!.
Could any one help me to install the update?

Replace the recovery to stock recovery and relock the bootloader. If you installed the modified firmware, reflash the stock firmware, you will be good

Here you should find the stock recoveries: http://www.andromods.com/download-files/htc-one-m8-stock-recovery-verizon-sprint-att-tmobile.html
download the right recovery.img file and follow these instruction on how to flash - http://androiding.how/how-to-install-twrp-recovery-via-fastboot/ - in this just change the twrp recovery.img to the one you downloaded and run the code in command prompt.
It is recommended to do I clean install to avoid any further reported errors. Once you relock the bootloader you will lose all the data (like hard reset).

Thanks again for the info.
Unfortunately, I could not find the right stock recovery in the link you provided, so I use another one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860.
However, I have to ask, if I am on stock firmware; only rooted through SuperSU and with TWRP recovery,
do I need to reinstall (reflash) or restore to sotck firmware as in steps # 7 to 9 in the post (link) I added, or
can I directly flash the stock recovery and then relock the bootloder and start downloading the update 6.0
Thank.

First thing .. you cannot do OTA with a rooted stock ROM, you need a non-rooted ROM.
Secondly .. there is no need to relock bootloader - read the note in my thread.
Just read again post #1 and follow all the 14 steps, you should be fine.
Anything, you can ask in my thread as I'm not following your thread.

Can confirm, I just wiped all partitions and flashed through TWRP, upon reboot the recovery was back to stock. Locked boot loader again and phone is working fine. Thanks!
If you return custom rom phone, they won't know either. Because the phone looks working, and the sales person does not going to use computer and check if you unlocked bootloader.
At least in Canada.
Sorry, I'm new nere (coming from Samsung) how exactly do I flash this? Through fastboot command prompt on the computer or in recovery or something else?
They still might check
Can I use OOS 3.2.2 full zip

When I install the ROM , then can I wipe- system or data>cache>dlvk-cache which you suggest. (And sorry for bad English)
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...lus-3-and-go-back-completely-to-stock.456232/
Guide here
You can get the latest stock system and recovery images from the official oneplus site at http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-3/oneplus_3_oxygenos_3.2.1/ . I'd prefer that then from any 3rd party site. So use sideload or twrp to flash the rom + recovery then oem lock the phone again and factory reset. It's then the same as it comes in a box.
Im on the Open Beta 11 with No root and stock recovery, i want to get back to Marshmallow, Can i just "Install from Internal storage" with a Full Rom file through the stock recovery or is there any other way to do it?
The bootloader's too locked.
Pls, any help would be thankful

Solved thanks!
Hi!
I want to flash custom rom(pixel experience 8.1 or 9) on my whyred. I do these steps:
- unlock bootloader: OK

- flash twrp (official version) via fastboot: OK
- flash custom rom via twrp: stuck at "error 7..." as attack img. I did several times, sometime it stuck at patching system, sometime at patching vendor. I flash miui dev rom 8.8.30 global with miflash again and do above steps: still same error.

Update to latest miui 10 then
First you must unlock the bootloader if you haven't yet. Try to Google it
Second you flash twrp, the latest one. There's a version here and another on the official twrp website. You can find both very easily. To flash twrp, start you phone in download mode, connect it to PC and from CMD send the command "fastboot flash recovery yourtwrpfile.img"
From twrp you must do a full format of the storage to make sure you're decrypted.
After that you can flash any P ROM by following the steps provided on the ROMs thread.

You don't have to flash another ROM after twrp and you can still use miui, but make sure that you flash magisk so you don't lose twrp as Miui overwrites stock recovery.

Dude, flash miui fastboot ROM like this (search on YT):
HOW TO FLASH MIUI via FASTBOOT - REDMI NOTE 8 PRO
tha channel name is Konah the Begonia Guardian
*chose your version like pggcnxm
buddy how do you know that you have Chinese version with global rom.
i have this device but not sure if it is global or not
I'm using cn and moved to global.
Here is what I have done:
- Unlock
- Flash fastboot global rom (Only A9 available)
- Update to latest
- Flash orangefox
- Use TWRP's guide to flash vbmeta to disable and avoid tripping AVB (see TWRP thread)
- Boot to system once
- Reboot to recovery
- ...
- Profit
The trickiest part is when flashing recovery. If you don't enter the recovery after entering "fastboot reboot" command, your recovery would likely be replaced. Hold vol+ when entering command.
Be carefull when updating. If you have not flashed a MIUI full rom on orangefox, you cannot do incremental update, so go with full rom once. Also I have bootloop once, and fortunately escaped. Here is my solution (need someone to test, since this is my daily driver)
- Vanillafy everything (uninstall magisk, restore stock boot.img, restore stock recovery)
- Update
- Customize everything
OR
- After flashing update, dont reboot to system. It will likely to trip AVB. Flash vbmeta once and try to reboot.
If you have tried second update method and succeeded, please do tell.
Hope this help.

From rom version. If it says someting like "QGGMIXM", it's global. If it says "QCGMIXM" or something like that, it's chinese.

pretty simple bro, just return to miui 11 first because I fear you can brick, after that, just flash any twrp for a10 or a9 (depending of your android version) then wipe dalvik, cache, data.
**miui is problematic flashing in different versions, in my video I recommended donwgrade first

Mine was worst. I didn't know my phone was chinese with global rom, 'cause the chinese sold me 'global version', and sent it in white box, but it's the chinese version with global rom.
Well, I tried following a few tutorials, but all after fastboot twrp, close AVB, install ROOT and reboot, started bootlooping and I had to flash global rom again with mi flash. Can't get root access / magisk.
Did you solve that? Please, guide us.

You can, working flawlessly. But once go global, never lock your bootloader.
You can use below TWRP Thanks LR Team. (I tired Miui 12 with CH Device)
install TWRP in fastboot
Reboot TWRP after Advanced >File Manager > delete "system_root/system/recovery_fromboot.p"
Again Advanced > install root
Finish.
https://mega.nz/file/7E5QhS6Y#hzCpPWwxO4104R0oJRTv0L1_-lNb5D1pgYp9h4oJfVM
if bootloop restart TWRP>Advanced>Remove AVB 2.0
Advanced >File Manager > delete "system_root/system/recovery_fromboot.p"
Again "Advanced > install root"
can not pass saftynet ctsprofile
