Ive tried looking on the forums and on google.com i have found a lot of stuff stating the same problems but no fixes. So if someone could either explain to me the problem or a solution that would be awesome.
FOr some reason on the Note 2 and S3 i think for that matter Google now wont work 100%
1. if you press menu the menu pops up for a sec and then disappears. only way around this is if you press in the search bar as if you were going to type then you can press menu.
2. I no longer have the little picture at the top that shows either the sun (if its day light) or the moon (if its night) its just the search bar with all my recent searches under it which is super annoying. If i use the fix above to get to the settings and turn google now off and then on i get my little picture back until i leave Google now. then its gone again.
Like I said in the other thread. I was able to uninstall the updates for Google Search and all is well for me.

Before updating google now, go into google now settings/voice/hotword detection and turn it off. Menu button will work fine after the upgrade. Some issue with hotword detection and Note 2.
Need to file a bug report....
Nexus 6 Android 7.1
I've been having an issue where I will hold the home button down to pull up search, tap on the search bar to bring up the keyboard, and within a few seconds the search bar clears itself and closes the keyboard.
I made a screen recording to show you the issue in action. The first instance I don't type anything, just wait, and it closes itself. The second time I starting typing and it happens again. So basically every time I open search I have to tap the search bar, wait for the keyboard to close, then tap the search bar again, then it works... until i need to search something else.
Here is the screen recording
Here is the logcat of the crash
12-03 10:01:36.449 824 1796 seems to be what it spits out when the keyboard actually closes.
I was just going through the logcat and saw TeslaCoil in there, so I tried another launcher. Magically the issue was remedied. I've encountered several people on both stock Android and custom ROMs that are having the same issue.

You will probably have a lot more success posting this in the Nova Launcher thread.
Hello everybody,
Soon after getting the Pie update, after the first security small update, i noticed that on my wife's Galaxy S9 the setting "Single tap to swipe" option is gone. Anybody else having this problem ?
Thanks!
Same here. I have also preferred tap instead of swipe... Definitely i am going to change this Samsung brand...
Mee too! I'm very angry...
LOL, you guys break me up, so fickle that you'll change phones because of single tap to swipe feature missing. There is no way you could have even liked the phone if you'll drop it for this.
Same on S9+. It worked on One UI security patch January 1, but it is gone after February 1 update.
Lame, I thought my phone got stuck, took me few days until I tried to swipe, LOL...
I am used to end the call with Power key but never got the hang of using the Volume up key for answering calls, so I just used tap instead of swipe.
Now I guess I am doomed.
My workaround will be to try to get used to using Bixby key for answering calls since bxActions app has such an option.
Until they break that with some update also.
On Note 9 still working after the last update, hope they will not mess with it.
For some reason in latest update they moved it under: Interaction and dexterity -> assistant menu -> Single tap to swipe ....
but now i am stuck with useless menu on my screen (kept only one option in the menu) but when disabling the menu - single tap stops working
Thanks kabangena, with your help i found it. I have set the maximum transparency to the small assistant menu and i moved it in the upper right corner. I cannot see the icon anymore. It's a temporary fix, hope Samsung will do something about it.

same here , but it's still very annoying
Is anyone solved the issue, even with the third-party app? That's really annoying; why don't left that useful option "as is"?
You can hide the assistant menu by long press on it and a circle with "X Hide Here" appears in top center of the screen, drag it into the circle. This hides assistant menu in the notification panel. You have to see the notification every time you swipe down to open the panel, but it is completely hidden from the home screen.

Except, after the screen closes and I hit Home to open it again, this little piece of worthless junk is back.
I'd just leave it somewhere and ignore this POS, but it covers parts of apps that I regularly use.
Why do people think that deleting functionality is a good thing?
Finally I found the solution (not a permanent but still affordable).
- turn Settings->Accessibility->Interaction and dexterity->Assistant menu on and (inside "Assistant menu") set Single tap to swipe is on
- weird floating icon should appear but don't worry
- go to Settings->Apps, press "3 dots" in the top right corner and tap on Show system apps
- find an app called Accessibility, tap on, scroll all way down and remove Appear on top advanced permission (I've also disabled Change system setting)
- now scroll up, and tap on Force stop button
Weird button will disappear and re-appear after reboot only (you should repeat last step again after reboot but it's OK, I believe so)
Enjoy!
P.S. Thanks to user drmusou for his post.
[UPDATE] There is a permanent solution! Set Single tap to swipe option and disable package com.samsung.accessibility by Package Disabler Pro+ (Samsung).
Or just with ADB shell:
c:\adb>adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.accessibility
If you tap and hold the assistant menu you will have the option to hide it " it will re appear after reboot" but can do the same again ?
Has anyone else noticed that we get a different version of the search / Assistant depending on whether we long-press the home button or go via the microphone icon in the google app / home screen search bar?
First screenshot = via microphone icon, second screenshot = long press home.
I've been told that the long-press home version is the old Google Now and the microphone icon version is the "real" Assistant.
Strangely enough, when trying to recognize music, the old version will listen (as shown by the moving equalizer bar) but doesn't give any result, whereas the new version gives a result within a second or so.
I searched the settings but couldn't find anything related to the home button.
Can someone confirm that this is the same on their device, or direct me to the settings where I can perhaps change this?
Running stock Pie with September update (V10.0.14.0)
Thanks in advance.
Did I bork something in my settings? Anyone else having issues searching from the google search bar at the bottom of the home screen? I TECHNICALLY works but takes like 1 minute to appear. Voice searching works. Searching through chrome works perfect. But the home screen search bar, nope. Why so many glitches on Android 12 lol.
