Pixel 2XL video audio - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Hey,
Today I've noticed my Pixel 2 XL has a TERRIBLE white noise when recording videos. It fades away at 8 seconds, but comes back if you speak.
Is there any chance to fix that or just faulty mic? Tried safemode, same results.
I have a video example, but cannot post it yet.

[Q] Severe Video Recording Issue on 2 Devices - Am I just unlucky?

Looking for some advice. I have already swapped out one Galaxy Note II due to an issue with video recording. Every video taken with the phone had horrendous speaker cracking and popping during playback. The speakers were fine for music and other videos, but videos taken on the device suffered from terrible interference. I had the device replaced and received my new one yesterday. Opened it up, took a video and get exactly the same issue. From what I have seen on Youtube, the audio quality from this phone should actually be really good, and I haven't read a single report of the issue I have now experienced on two devices anywhere online. Before I go down the route of exchanging for a third device, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might be able to remedy this? I have linked to a video I uploaded taken in a silent room where the popping noise is clearly audible.
What do you all suggest? Anything I can try or have I really been unlucky enough to own the only 2 devices with this hardware fault?

Just a bump to keep this on the front page until it's had at least a couple of responses.
I do think I read about this "pop" in Video recordings elsewhere in a review I think? They mentioned this being an issue with the GS3 as well I believe. I will try to find the article again and post it if I can.
Just did a test with mine and no popping what so ever.
Same here. No popping, at least in a couple of short (2-3 minutes in length) 1080p videos I recorded. (They're the only videos I've recorded using my SGN II so far.)
I'm having the same problem with my Note II LTE (GT-N7105). Did you find a solution to the problem or is it just a case of getting the phone replaced?

Mine doesnt
Yep very poppy speaker at near full volume, sou D's like the membrane is cheap.
Not impressed with it playing music or videos yet, most of the time I use BT audio I'm my car anyway.
for the price i would have thought the speaker would have been better quality, which my note 7 had, on the plus side the Pixel XL wont spontaneously combust
The headphone/earpiece speaker is made of cloth, not aluminum or plastic mesh.
No issues here. Played about a dozen songs from Google music on full volume with no distortion. Surprised how full sounding the speaker is.

If it plays ring tones and basic YouTube audio I'm good. I never run it at full volume. When I listen to music it's over Bluetooth headphones or a Bluetooth connected Klipsch Gig speaker.

Audio coming out of the speakers on mine sound awful and that's at less than half volume. Apps have a crackle to them and you tube videos as well. Dunno if I should request replacement or not
My xl speaker sounds better than my old note 4and Nexus 5x. So much so, that it could substitute for a cheap Bluetooth speaker. Watching a video on 6p sounds better as it's stereo and has good treble, but in general the pixel is louder and much more fuller. It makes the 6p sound tinny.
The issue I was speaking about almost seems like the phone is struggling to load the audio in sync with any video or animations going on in a app. You would say it's not powerful enough to do anything other than be a phone. I've already called and requested a replacement phone, should be here early next week then I will have two XL's in hand to see if I'm fact it's the phones speaker or if it's a software issue.

I have noticed the same with YouTube. Probably software related as it does work well after a fresh reboot.

I'm not talking about crackle or noise. Just seemed to help with voice and video synchronization.

I haven't had any issues with crackling until 20 mins ago. Watching a YouTube video and about 5 seconds in it started. It was at max volume and now I have to reduce it 2 clicks down to go away. I'm going to call for a replacement tomorrow. Once it starts the speaker must be replaced.
No problems here. It's actually louder and clearer than the speakers on my 6P. Which already has a bad emmc chip after only 10 months. All I care about is notifications though and this phone plays them very loud. :good:
Mine is not experiencing this issue. I've tried the reproduction with the piano app you have mentioned and I do not hear static or poping noises. I will admit I wish the speaker was louder, but I believe this was by design, and does not represent a production quality issue.

I'm in the same boat as you. Did you get your replacement order in? My speaker just started cracking and when I contacted support through the phone they sent me a list of software fixes which of course didn't do squat.

XL2 Overheating when using the camera to record video?

Got a notification on the phone while I was recording some video around the 10 minute marker. I did not have any signal barely one bar (thanks Verizon!) and was recording some video and the phone started getting hot, very hot! Then I got a notification that some features would be turned off until it cooled down. I stopped recording and let it cool down, but yet another issue with this phone?
Do you have mobile video backup enabled for Photos?

This is very typical. Once you go about 10 minutes recording a video most phones and even some point-shoot cameras will stop with an overheating message.
You can lower your recording quality to extend the time but typically, if there is a lot going on in the video and the phone has to compress and stabilize you might not get further than 30 min.

Examples of some videos on OP7T

I got this phone hoping that the quality of my concert recordings would look better than the aging nexus 5x I had. I did a couple recordings last night. Ill update it later as soon as the other two videos update. Couple things happened. During the first show it was brighter in the room and it looked better. I accidentally swiped on the phone and it ended the recording. That was frustrating when it happened and the first bands recording got cut in half. I tried using the shake free mode or whatever it was called on the first band to try to save battery. The second band got on stage and I switched it to the 4k mode. I paid no attention to the warning that popped up when i started recording. The video ended after five minutes and I wondered what the heck happened. I started recording again and noticed the warning that 4k only records 5 minutes at a time. After that I switched over to the hd stable mode. The show was quite a bit darker and the video quality was not the best. Audio was fine on all the recordings though.
So I went home and uploaded the videos... first thing I noticed was the 4k video was sideways... I held the phone the way I was supposed to... I have no idea why it recorded sideways. Thats a little annoying because i dont have the tools to fix it.

SM-N975W screen recording choppy

I just got my note 10+ yesterday and was pretty excited to try out the screen recorder. I soon discovered its trash and I can't achieve any good recordings. I tried a bunch of different settings and 3rd party apps but nothing works well. I'm probably getting 15fps. I thought the note was a power house. My pixel 2xl records better. Anyone have better success please share!!! Thx
I have a 975F, and the screen recordings are fine
