Magisk tethering - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

I can't seem to find that module anymore.
Does anyone have a link, or a copy?
Thanks

It likely was removed from the repository due to not being updated. The thread in the Magisk forum, if said thread exists, should still exist however.

This is the one I use. I saved the file to my PC for this reason.

Here it is as well post #76

Tried both. They appear to install but do not show up in the modules list.

Just to update, the adb shell command and the magisk props module got it working.

I just stumbled on this thread, took a look at the module forum. The last page has a link to some other module that supposedly does the same thing, and it works with newer versions of Magisk. I didn't look at it or try it, though.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-tethering-enabler-testers-t3476625/page15

I had it at one time... Silly me didn't back up my phone and I reset it.
No worries though. I got it working again.

Xposed won't update or uninstall with FlashFire

hello all, I appreciate any help you can give me. I also apologize if this has already been answered, as I couldn't find anything that worked for me.
I've recently been logged out of Snapchat, and when I tried to log back in, I was met with an error, which seems to be a pretty common issue with Xposed users.
so since I have the Verizon g4, I cant flash the uninstall zip with a custom recovery. FlashFire allows me to choose the zip and it appears to shut down and then turn back on ~45 seconds later, but the Xposed framework is still installed. I read another thread where someone mentioned that updating to v79 of Xposed and then uninstalling worked, but it doesn't work for me, as v74 is still installed.
I'm lost on options at the moment, besides a factory reset

Magisk + Adaway + General Root = I Need Some Help

Hey guys,
Magisk has been going NUTS lately. It sometimes reports that I'm not rooted. Most apps work, but Adaway seems to be having a hard time lately. It's been working for a VERY long time and then maybe 2 weeks ago, it stopped. It can no longer copy the hosts file and it's disabled. This just happened out of the blue. Busybox also seems to hang on update.
Android pay is also on the fritz, but I know that's a different type of issue.
Anybody been through this?

Disable busy box and enabled core only mode in magisk manager settings.

What version of magisk are you using 12 or 13? And what version magisk manager are you using? And are you running it in core only mode?

I'm using manager 4.3.1 and Magisk 11.6. I'm going to do a backup and try updating all items.
Edit: According to the Magisk thread the Pixel devices are not supported, I'm not going to update
Edit2: I've noticed that my systemless hosts options doesn't stay toggled in magisk
Edit3: Did a magisk resinstall (unistall manager>Recovery>Flash Magisk>Flash TWRP>Reboot) still doesn't work

Id try switching the magic 12. It's posted in the RR thread in op. And magisk manager 4.3.3. You can get it from the APK mirror. You just got to run it in core only mode in settings. I don't have any problems or ever did with BusyBox. But I noticed the free version doesn't work

It's Captain Hindsight - you should've realised that.
you should've also noticed you said nothing about C Goodwin having his own thread specifically for Magisk Pixel
you probably shouldn't have tried to one-up me

God Bless you.......

Specific Variant of Xposed works on Qualcomm's Perry ( APK Link in OP)

https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....ed/unofficial-systemless-xposed-t3388268/amp/
The thing is.... I went to the app to get the program and Magisk wouldn't install the program on it's end. Took a shot and installed the apk (SDK 25), then installed the 88.1 version shown in the picture (now 88.2) rebooted and waited to "upgrade" itself.... But here it is plain as day. I'm not saying you may get it running on yours but it worked for me. Happy testing y'all,
SykkNyzz
And apparently Gravity Box for Nougat just came out 2 days ago at the time of this post.
Just ticked to center the time. Perfecto.
Reboot and such work as well
Nav Bar as well (note swapped buttons and added menu)
Even the Expanded Desktop works.
I can't get any modules to install in magisk on this phone. Tried systemless Xposed and nothing. How did you install it?
That looks like system install. Systemless usually says it like in this screenshot.
Did you install magisk with the zip in recovery, or modified boot.img? Systemless Xposed would be nice, hoping to get working on mine.

OK. I got system install working on mine too. Yours looks like system install too, not systemless. The xposed app downloads normal system install. You should change the name of the thread since it's not actually systemless. Just to avoid confusion.

I can't get any magisk modules to work either, I was genuinely hoping you had it here. I've noticed you're pretty active in the forums for this phone.
Glad you showed xposed working, it helped me decide to try it.

Any way to hide root from specific apps?

Since rooting my 3XL, I've found several apps that detect root and will no longer work. I can live without them and work around it, but it's annoying. Does anyone know if there is a way to hide my root status from these apps? I've found mentions of some xposed modules that do this, but I'm apprehensive about trying them out quite yet.

In Magisk look for Magic Hide. Open it up and check the box next to the app. You have to be on a newer canary bild for it to work.

Thanks. I'm not sure how to tell which build I'm using, I'm using whatever was in the Root thread https://www.xda-developers.com/google-pixel-3-unlock-bootloader-root-magisk/
I'm assuming im not using the Canary build since I didn't see that module. Mind telling me how to check or update?

I don't see the module you referenced. There is Shellhide that says it's an alternative to Magisk Hide. In Magisk settings there is Magisk hide but it's just on or off, and was already on. So if that's it, it doesn't work for my purpose.
There are some apps that Magisk cannot hide from. This is my first Android phone that I have decided not to unlock the Bootloader on it. I am fine with stock, and don't need what root has to offer. Besides I like being able to use Android Pay and not have to play Cat and Mouse upgrading Magisk every time Android catches up to it.

Yes, I meant inside Magisk. If you have the check box next to the app checked and it is still finding it you are probably out of luck. Some apps are not fixable.
You can also go in settings and hit hide Magisk manager. That sometimes helps.

Got Canary working, can't update build prop?

Wanted to do the old hotspot trick (net.tethering.noprovisioning=true) but the build prop won't save. Any ideas?
Also trying to load adaway in data/hosts and data/data/host fail.
But magisk modules will install and work.
Search on XDA for Tethering Enabler for Magisk. It's working for me not sure about Adaway.

Regarding adaway, make sure you set "systemless hosts" mode in Magisk settings. Not sure of the exact name of the setting at the moment as I do not currently have Magisk installed...
I wasn't able to get /system rw which limited options on enabling tether.
Adjusting magisk for systemless hosts worked fine for me but I was never able to get tethering working on q. I went back to 9 until things smooth out a bit.

Huh. I'll have to keep it in mind if I try to re enable tether after an OTA. I managed to find a guide that worked by setting it in terminal.

As for tethering I got it working cherry! I can't find the exact guide I found but this is the same. Had to install busy box and whatnot but, it worked. Found this guide on XDA but this link has the same steps. Be warned though, 4 isn't "add new/custom", for me, I had to press 5 not 4. https://www.getdroidtips.com/how-to-enable-native-tethering-on-rooted-pixel-3-3xl/
Not sure what tether_dun_required 0 does. But it worked like a charm and persists after reboot now.
Thanks everybody, got it all working now. Couldn't have done it without ya!
What is the name of the system less magisk module you installed so I use the right one.

Click the systemless option in the Magisk settings. It will install the correct module for you.
I did that is just causes a pop up that says added systemless host module. Adaway still gives me a syslink error?
