Hi.
I'm a fan of modern / stylish UI, but sadly all of the ROMs here doesn't look like the new Descendant OS except same boring looking of AOSP. Don't get me wrong, these ROMs are great and tons of customization and I tried them. I don't know how to request to the developer of the ROM but, I'll just request here. Thank you.

This is a really good request. I hope a bored and amazing dev would see this and take it to consideration

ok guys i been theming for miui rom for a while and its pretty simple because of the theme option thats built it on the rom and it was one of my first roms i flash when i first rooted my phone, but now im gonna start using myths & sense roms because i love the feel and smoothest of the sense roms, i know theres alot of sense themes out there for all devices, but i have alot of ideas of my own.
i know the whole deal of framework.apk and etc for theming, but one thing i really need help out or guide to or wiki tutorial with its to change the xml files for colors etc, and many other things that i wanna learn to change to make a theme as much detail as i can, i have alot of greaatttt ideas with alll this info and material on the internet with the sense and android phones, but i need someone to send me to the right directions or link to how to start theming from fresh start specially on sense roms because i wanna work on that the most.
if anyone can help me or send me to a link or videos etc of how to theme i really i appreciated, not only it will help me get into the whole android world but we can all enjoy themes that ill be making on my free time.
this is 2 of my themes for miui , since i start theming a month or two ago, and learn evrything myself but still need more knowledge on theming

like to keep my stuff nice, simple, and matching and as much detail as i can.
thanks
I have flashed my fair share of roms from Sense to Sense(less), Foyo to Gingerbread the list goes on. One thing I have noticed is that they all seem to have a similar appearance. I have yet to see a Rom that is unique in appearance. Does anyone know of any Roms that give a truly unique look, something new and different?
MIUI is the most unique android rom, it's like a iphone android hybrid.
I agree. I always come back to Miui. They update the rom on every Friday, and as of late it has been incredibly stable. Every so often I'll switch to a Sense rom, but within a week I'm back to Miui.
Acer Liquid. Definitely.

Wrong lol I have to disagree and say the new liquid ui is the most unique Rom..its totally different

I found that Rom to be... I don't know, frustrating? Issues with the lockscreen, the multiple music players... I think Miui is much more solid, and the built in features are unmatched.
I would have to say that both MIUI are completly in there own. Both based off AOSP (incase you are wanting to try different kernels) But I preferred LiquidMetal. I am not a fan of the iphone. Although the options in MIUI were a lot better as far as customization. I only used each for a short time and am currently on gingersense remix (b2) (attempting to download b3 as I type. This one is nice but looking more like a sense rom with some of the new sense 3.0 stuff on it.
I say give both MIUI and liquid metal a go and see what you think.

How is that one running for you? I tried both 3.0 roms and got sick of the rosie loops.

I love Miui, I really do but it doesn't like my Incredible. It's starting to get better and more functional with the latest updates but still laggy. I have never tried nor heard of LiquidMetal. I will have to look into that one.
I am curious about the 3.0 Roms that are coming out. I'm timid to try them out right now though, I fear that since they are not "stable", I will grow a resilience to them.
MIUI gets my vote. The early versions were too much of an iPhone clone for my tastes but have since gone back to it on recent versions.
However, I'm not crazy about the way they did the launcher being iPhone-esque by keeping all apps on the desktop, I prefer having an app drawer. So I run it with the Go Launcher.
MIUI's theming engine is incredibly easy to create themes on your own, and there is a huge collection of themes online, although I like a good sleek dark theme.
It has been incredibly stable for me, and I've really gotten to like their styles of pop up dialogs and menus.
I have tried all of the 3.0 and 2.1/3.0 ROM's. I can tell you that after a few reboots and soft reboots, they will calm down, and you will enjoy them.
With that said, GingerSense ReMix by wdfowty is the best right out of the box. No loops at all, I assume because it is from a 2.1 base with 3.0 goodies added in.
Try them!

So, whats the verdict?
Sorry if I've got this wrong and misunderstood things but now that Jan is preventing other devs from using his Tweaks and Extended Quick Settings does this mean that none of the other roms from now on will have these features?
I know some have their own tweaks app similar to Jan's but they are missing the EQS. Is this because Jan won't allow anyone to use it or is it because new roms are based on the new software version and the EQS isn't compatable yet?
Thanks.
No that is (thankfully) not the case. Please check out the CoreDroid ROM thread. Read Sergio's original post. Tweaks (CoreDroid Suite Tools) coming to anyone who wants them!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601408
Thanks, that's good to hear. Just had a look at the Coredroid thread, never flashed it before as the theme isn't really my cup of tea, but lovely to see Sergio sharing his amazing work for all to use. Much more Android spirited
Thanks, and keep an eye on it. There are more things being considered on the theme front that may be more your thing.
Sounds interesting, I'll keep watching...thanks.
Just noticed though, no quicksettings/EQS Someone said it may be in the next version but it's a huge amount of work for Sergio.
I hope it can be implemented onto other roms as I can't live without it lol, and much as I like the Charmeleon rom I don't want to feel I can't leave it because the feature I need is exclusive to that rom.
I really think it's sad that Jan isn't sharing anymore I appreciate he's done a lot of work but so have a lot of people on other things such as kernels, theming, etc. Perhaps he could make his work into a paid app or something so people can install it on any rom.
Sorry I should have made myself clearer. It is coming in the build we are currently testing (v3.6) and after that, it should be available for everyone to use. No one is going to have to part with money for it!
We had to take it out of 3.5 and Sergio has written his own from scratch. Like you said, a shame, but that's what we had to do.
We are all testing like crazy to get this latest build up for everyone to enjoy. Can't give you an ETA unfortunately because as much as we are all itching to get this new ROM out there, we want to make sure we don't miss anything in our hurry.
Don't forget to check out the CoreDroid Themes and Mods thread in the Themes and Apps section. Plenty of mods there if you don't like the default CD look, plus we always leave the stock HTC Skins in the ROM. All the screen shots you see are from the CoreDroid skins.
We have some very talented and helpful themers on the team. If there is something you would like, perhaps see if they can make it for you.
Thank you for explaining, really looking forward to the new version with the EQS. Your hard work and that of your team is very much appreciated.
I'll definitely try out the new Coredroid rom, after digging a bit deeper into the thread I found some really nicely themed calculators, status bar mods and other apps that look amazing.
Thank you very much for explaining everything Will definitely try out the new rom and send a beer or two your way!

Have a look here for your first hint:

I've not done cyanogen myself but that will give you some idea of what is known to work/break.
Thanks

One thing that would jump out at me from exploring the CM page is that the stable channel does NOT have a CM12 update yet. Which means if you want to run Lollipop based Cyanogen you're on the development channel. Not necessarily a big deal but sometimes not the most stable experience.
There are a few ROMs out there that offer OTAs, why not look at them? If you prefer the stock-ish experience of CM, maybe one of the Google Play Edition ROMs like this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/rom-m8-gpe-01232015-t3010825
I'm pretty new to flashing ROMs so if I make a mistake please correct me. As we all know, the support for the Nextbit Robin is down. I'm hoping to get a stock custom ROM that has stock Android and has the new Google Pixel vibe, thank you for the comments.
If you just want the 'Google Pixel vibe' just install the Rootless Pixel2 Launcher
If you are looking for basic custom ROM - PA, Omni, LOS are the most stable, actively developed and the most basic ROMs.
If you are looking for feature filled custom ROM - RR, Carbon, Xenon are the ROMs people like. These too are quite stable and actively developed.
I like PA and you can find my view on the ROM in that thread.

If you want a stock theme I would go with carbon rom it's pixel home touch animation is much better than any other ROMs, and still offers some customization. And yes use the pixel 2 rootless launcher it's amazing and you can download the live Google wallpapers too here is my setup on carbon

What's makes Carbon's implementation of the Pixel home button animation better than any other roms? I'm currently using XenonHD and as far as I can tell it looks exactly the game as Carbon's.
I have to agree with you on the Pixel 2 Launcher though, I love it, also paired with the new live wallpapers.

Well xenon hd has a good pixel animation but the other lineage ROMs do not, I don't recommend xenon because in terms of brute performance it score 400 lower in mutli in geekbench and 6000 lower in antutu.

UI performance is excellent on Xenon, benchmarks don't reflect true performance as well.

While I do agree with you, I have experienced more fluid performance on carbon, to achieve the same effect on xenon I have to turn the profile to performance which drains my battery more than it should
