So I bought a broken Pixel C thinking I could fix it - did the charge dance and I can get the tablet to boot to recovery, then if I shut it down the light bar just stays at one red LED lit forever. (charging, low battery)
The screen is lifting up a little from a swollen battery, do you think it's worth it to replace the battery or should I simply buy one in better condition?
Thanks,
John
Well I bought a battery, will update once it's installed.

Just bought an One X, and am really excited for the phone.
As usual for my new phone, I charged it overnight with the phone powered off. LED indicator showed red, and I went to bed.
This morning when I woke up, the LED is still red. I disconnected the power cable and powered up the phone. Upon boot up, the battery shows only 1% battery life. I reconnected to the power cable for another 20 mins before heading off to work. The battery went up to 7%?
Anyone experience the same problem? Is my phone faulty? Why can't it charged when it is powered off?
Do you install custom recovery ?? And not updated version of CWM may cause problems with charging... Can you turn om.the phone and charge it? If you does not have a working rom you can charge your phone while the splash screen "HTC QUIETLY BRILLIANT".
Pd: you dont going to see any notification light. Just trust on it

My HTC One X isn't charging, the red flashing light flashes red and green when i plug it in and continues to do that. Can anyone help me?
try volume and power and see if it resets it,
if not then you have a faulty battery or connection or something, return and replace

Mine just did that then. I have been using it while charging though and it's gotten quite hot. I suspect it's an overheating warning for me at least.

Same for me! Is there a way so it actually charges

I've only gotten it to do it once. Was using the phone quite heavily. Perhaps more moderate use would not make it overheat during charge at least.
Mines charging fine now that I'm not hammering it..
The only way is to wait until it cool down, or use it on a cool room

Seriously? Is this supposed to be constructive?
Help a guy out, say you have the same issues or feel for the guy.
But what do yo mean with volume and power?
Do you mean go into recovery and delete batterystats?
I am probably gonna return my HOX.
I also have major screen flickering issues.
HTC have also said that there have been manufacturing faults
It's an HTC overheat warning - holding the power button whilst plugged in & selecting reboot should stop the flashing lights, then allow it to cool down for just a few minutes.
I've seen this, only when doing multiple benching.

Since you said that the phone meet the floor I can guess that may be a hardware fault. If with the phone off you connect to the charger an no reacction, you only can chek for another charger. Its OK if you use almost any usb charger, but the minimal power of the charger (see the label on the charger) need to be 750 mah, and the recommended is 1 A. (always at 5v). I use a asus nexus 7 charger witch is 2A, so I can handle charge and power consumption. Anyway. If your phone is not charging and you tried at least 3 chargers and 2 cables its time to open the phone. There is a guide on youtube (sorry I cant search for it right now), that show you how to open the HTC One X, so you can check the battery connection to the phone. Trty to disconnect and connect it again, and without reassemble the phone connect carefully to the charger and see what happen. If not charging and assuming that you dont have where to carry the phone, I would try to charge the battery pack outside the phone (3.7v Li battery charger) and then put it again on the phone and see what happen. I'm like 70/30 % that is the connector (30% that some on the mainboard broken)
Hope I help you
Since long time I had a problem with charging. I had it on charger and didn't charge. It said that I use more power than charger can give me. It was the same when the fine was off some times. It looks like charging but after some hours power was complete down. Be four some days it switched of batter and never opened again. Neither charging. I tried before some months and changed the battery but still had the problems. I tried yesterday to change again the battery and put the old one that had some power to take my files from mobile. I tried to put it to charger and the light goes green and red and don't charging. The fine has no power no and it's close again
I bought an OEM battery for my Dinc2 from eBay. It didn't look like it was charging, but I left it in there for a few hours. The phone never turned on with the new battery. So I took it out and put the old battery back in (which had a 100% charge)...and now the phone goes to the htc white screen and then goes to black. When I try to turn it back on, nothing. I take the battery back out, and I can turn it on again, but again it only goes to the htc screen and then goes to black.
I can hold power + power down to get into the boot screen. Recovery goes to htc, then black. Factory reset goes to htc, then black.
Is it possible that a bum battery killed my phone?

Sounds like your charging port is broken in my professional opinion. Even if the indicator shows the red light on the top, it does not mean the device is charging. The reason why it turns on and goes black in my opinion is, that it gave you a false charge on the battery when you charged it and won't turn on properly. You're able to go to the Boot menu because it hardly takes any battery life. I'm a cell phone technician, but that's just a guess from what you've told me. It could be a totally different reason. It's a very easy fix if that's the case. The charging port is on a flex cable and you can purchase it for about $5. As long as you know how to open the device properly, you'll be fine. If not seek a professional.

Thanks for your assessment. I guess what I don't understand is how the charging port could break with a discharged/faulty battery? When I first plugged the battery in, it made the orange light blink a few times, which I know is a signal that the battery is really low.

The charging port is really fragile, not much holding it down, especially since its on a flex. I'm not sure if this is against the forum rules or not, you can send it to me if you would like, and I'll be more than happy to fix it for you. Just pay shipping, part and labor. Part and labor $20 and you can use whatever shipping method you would like. Just give me labels to get here and back. You can take it to any repair center near you and they will probably charge you about $50-70. That would decrease the amount of time from the shipping, but it's totally up to you.
My phone have a red light when I try turn on. I cant put it in recovery moderno, cant turn on.. nothing... any solution?
That probably means the battery is too discharged to start up the main processor. Leave it charging overnight.
If it eventually has the red light go away but the screen does not come on, check with LG to see if they will repair it under warranty. I've got one currently there with them with a similar issue and is being repaired (or replaced. not sure yet) free of charge. I didn't even buy it, but found it in a dumpster. No proof of purchase needed.
My first one did the same, I sent it back to Amazon, got a full refund and bought a new one.
Hey, Any news about your problem ?
My friend give me his old phone and he has the same behaviour, he blinked red (or orange) for 10 sec and now there is nothing. He doesn't turn on, but on the top i can feel a little heat between the fingerprint and the camera. So there is some power in. On iFixit it seems that at this position, there is the Qualcomm power IC.
He bought the phone more than 2 years so now I think they will be no warranty so what should I do, contact LG to try ?
cheers
I've dropped the phone and I could see that as soon as it hit the ground the screen went black.
This is a Pixel 3 XL that I own for some time and have already replaced the screen and the battery by myself.
When I connect to original USB charger, the battery charging icon starts flashing. If I hold Power ON, Google logo appears briefly and screen goes black again. After 3-4 hours on the charger, the phone is not even a little hot, probably denoting it was indeed not charging (?).
If I put the phone a Samsung wireless charger, the charger recognizes the phone, but there are no screen indicators.
I've just made a video:
Maybe it's a battery wire issue? Or maybe the battery is dead? What do you think?

you can dissasemble the phone (heat plate to soften adhesive and insert picker) and (disconnect and) reconnect or replace battery
Well, it turns out that the phone is bootlooped. The charging battery icon blinking was the phone bootlooping. I found out when I unlocked the bootloader via fastboot. So sad.
I'm trying to run this command:
fastboot boot twrp.img
But the phone restarts before entering recovery.
I have the same problem. What should I do to recover? Thanks.
