Hello,
Yesterday night my phone (XT1789-06) turned off suddenly in 4% of battery life. After of full charging, the phone reboots again and again and it cannot boot in the operation system anymore. I found that this is a common problem in our devices.
"I have a Moto Z2 Force (XT1789-01). The looping started last night (November 2nd, 2019). I wasn't using my phone much throughout the day and didnt realize my phone had died. I went to charge it up and every since it has been on the reboot loop. (It will get to the blue Moto screen and then flash. Every few cycles it will show the "Hello" screen and then repeat.)
I have tried manually restarting it a few times; I installed the Leveno Moto Smart Assistance and tried "flashing" it, but the system doesn't recognize my phone." - https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-Z...1789-05-stuck-in-boot-loop/m-p/4417605?page=2
I want to avoid factory reset and I'm looking for a tool or some commands to bypass the wiping. I also need to say that It has stock ROM on it (Pie), it's not bootloader unlocked (it is in the warranty), the debugging is enabled and the messages that I get in Fastboot Mode are Baseband: <not found> & Console [Null]: null.
The LMSA tool cannot detect my device.
Thanks in advance!
I'm wondering if this is a hardware problem due to the battery. I also found this.

From your picture, you flashed wrong version firmware , it screwed up the firmware to lose baseband

I did not flash anything.
I did a factory reset and it has resurrected. But I'm not sure when a random restart drives me to the same situation. I will call the service. It might be a problem between motherboard and battery.
Any thought?
I've just informed by the Greek Motorola's Service (named TS Solutions) that the device was defective and they are gonna replace battery & motherboard. When I get it back I will give you feedback.

I'm stuck and confused:
Had a Nexus 4 and 5 for years. Decided to upgrade this past November to the LG G4 (T-Mobile H811)
Got it to root without touching the boot loader.
In came MM and then I had issues of repeating the process.
I came across a solution, to unlock my bootloader. So I did it and managed to get my G4 rooted while running stock LG MM (H81120i).
Everything was running well for several months, but then I started to see erratic behavior. It would heat-up in my pocket for no reason. It would not save pictures. Connections via WiFi and LTE were breaking up. All in all, I wasn't happy and I missed the stock Google interface.
So I've decided to install CM13. Had many issues of getting it to work for several days, which included persistent closings of Google Play services (and many others) and not being able to make/receive calls (it would automatically reboot) After several different attempts, I managed to get it all working. Cleared/Wiped everything off my internal drive, installed the "LG-H81120i-Flashable.COMPLETE" and "cm-13.0-201605xx-NIGHTLY-h811" and "open_gapps-arm64-6.0-nano-201605xx", all back to back. And then installed manual everything as needed Gmail, Maps, etc.
Everything worked great for about 2-days, until then next morning my screen locked up. Then the phone rebooted. After the reboot, it lasted for about 10-15 seconds in CM13 and rebooted again manually. Continued to reboot over and over, till it then stopped booting with CM13. I thought that maybe I needed to install the latest CM13 zip file, but found I couldn't get into recovery. The first reboot screen, showing "Bootloader State: Bootloader unlocked? and the LG logo would be in a loop. During that time, I could feel the phone getting hotter and hotter.
Sometimes, the phone would boot up into CM fully and last for 5 to 10 minutes. Then reboot again and stay in the first reboot screen.
I managed to get into TWRP recovery and thought that putting back the stock MRA58K image would help. During the install in recovery, the phone rebooted! I never thought it could do that. Eventually I got the stock LG back-up up and running, but it didn’t help, and same rebooting occurred.
I'm stuck and out of options. I would like to get the phone BACK TO STOCK and then perform an RMA. I’m afraid that with the BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED that my RMA will be denied and I’m stuck with what I have.
So can the H811's bootloader be re-locked?

Since you live in the US your only option is to apply over voltage to the battery terminal and burn the mobo so that it wont even boot up. The exact method is somewhere around here in xda so you should look it up since you have no other choice
Edit: To answer your question: No

If I can't re-lock the bootloader, has anyone had the success of returning their phones under warranty? Through T-Mobile?
I recently found a moto g5 in one of my fellow "old tech" drawers and decided to turn it on, it was on the
1. May 2018
Security patch on nougat, I decided to use the inbuilt system updater to go to Oreo, and now....it crashes during flashing process after about 25-30% completion,
Now im guessing boot or System is not properly installed due to the zip file having aborted mid-flash
Recovery doesn't properly boot as that is used to install the update and thus imidiately goes to doing that
Also, it hang up during installation on random times, it basically has a record of 2mins of not crashing whilst still being stuck on 30%
I got it to "boot" when trying factory mode, yeah it crashed mid boot animation...not a help
Any suggestions? EDL mode maybe?
Can you not flash firmware via fastboot
In theory as long as firmware is signed you don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash firmware
Firmware can be downloaded from https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/cedric/official/
You can also try the lenovo moto smart assistant to flash the firmware
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/how-to/guide-how-download-official-fastboot-t3916778
If not you will most likely need a motherboard replacement or jtag firmware flash at a repair shop

SOMEHOW it just decided to boot, I have never seen such behaviour, even on my g5s which I had for a while, (and am currently daily driving to school if it wasn't closed....NEVER
Maybe I'll unlock it and try somehow recreating it? Well it's in physically rough shape but all components inside are fine...so that can't be the reason....?
My g5 got stuck in a bootloop without an update, no root or anything modded. Is there any way to recover the data if its stuck like this?

Flash the stock rom and boot the device. But this will format the device.
To save data, remove the command fastboot erase userdata
Fastboot erase customisation.
Apps may be gone, but files In internal storage will be safe, like download, photos, music.

no luck on this front, gets to the passcode screen, write in passcode then motorola logo shows and screen keeps on turning off and on.
Thanks for the effort though, much appreciated
Mine is similar to yours. Initially was on permanent loop of the following:
1. Boot to moto g splash screen... Repeat
2. Boot to lock screen then usually a few loops of 1. (after entering the patter or left Idle)
The phone initially didnt have any developer options enabled.
I wiped cache using recovery mode. Restarted and pretty much the same thing except that it would on rare occasions actually fully boot up usually only last a few minutes before cycling between steps 1 and 2 above.
I used those rare boot ups to backup all files and enable any USB debugging /oem unlock (incase I need to use a solution dependent on these being enabled.)
Factory resetted it and its still the same with the random successful boot amongst the numerous failed ones.
I managed to hook it up to Lenovo's Lmsa and flash the latest ROM. Now I get a lot more successful boots but still loops every so often. The downside is that I can no longer do any functions that make use of the audio/ mic/ video (can take pictures). If I do then it will crash and loop.
The hardware test on the LMSA passed for every component before flashing to the latest version. Post update it predictably fails on the audio/ mic components.
I guess I'll have to go back to the old version to see I get the audio back.
Hey XDA,
Been a long time since I last posted. Long story short, phone was in my sister's posession. She now bought a Mi 9 SE and gave me this RN5 to fiddle with it. Apparently it hard-bricked itself. No, she doesn't fiddle with android devices, as in Rooting or unlocking bootloaders.
Symptoms:
- Doesn't show any life at all - plugging it into my PC yields no "Device connected sound", plugging it into a powerbrick doesn't turn on the screen, no vibrations, no sounds coming from it
- Was never unlocked
- Had a screen replacement
What I tried so far:
- Test point method to jump into EDL mode works every time, so that's my only way in
- Flashing an older MIUI 9 ROM with the Patched .efl with MiFlash 2018 (Flash completed, still bricked)
- Flashing an older MIUI 9 ROM with the Patched .mbl with QFIL (Flash completed, still bricked)
- Flashing latest MIUI 11 with the Patched .efl with MiFlash 2018 (Flash completed, still bricked)
Once again, I can't enter Fastboot, Recovery or get the phone to interact with my PC except with Testpoint EDL method.
I welcome any ideas with open arms, so thank you for any suggestions
UPDATE #1 - Huh, after flashing the latest firmware through QFIL one last time before giving up, I left the phone on the USB Cable, connected to my PC. To my surprise, after 2 hours, the device actually powered on, flashing the MI Logo for a second and the "Battery Charging" icon for a spilt second before rebooting and repeating this. I may just leave it connected to my PC throughout the night , but chances are that it's more of a battery or battery connector problem than a firmware/software problem. Will update if something new happens.
khmmm weird behavior. Please report your progress, its really interesting stuff... learning process.
Good luck and stay safe!
Do you have an authorized Xiaomi account? I also encountered a similar problem, but every time I swipe in, it prompts for authorization.

Did you use patched mbl or elf file??
Hi Everyone,
I have a 5T running android 9 - completely stock. The device is SIM free, I have never customised it at all - if anything it's never been connected to a PC even.
A few days ago I was using my phone as normal (on whatsapp) but it completely froze. It now boots up to the "Your device is corrupt and cannot be trusted and may not work properly" - it freezes on start up and won't work at all.
- I can get to the fastboot screen
- I can get to the recovery screen to install from ADB
The fastboot screen says in red - device state - locked.
The device is a clean, un-customised phone. Only a few days prior I checked for any OTA updates but I haven't received android 10 yet.
I haven't flashed phone firmware or anything for years now. (By years, I literally mean years - back in the Nokia 8210 days). My only other experience of flashing firmware was with Samsung phones and 'debranding' them.
As I was not trying to root the device or anything - how do I fix this issue? I've searched the forums but I cannot fine a scenario similar to mine therefore I'm a bit confused as to what to do to resolve it.
I've tried to sideload this - oneplus.com/uk/support/softwareupgrade/details?code=PM1574156155944 via recovery but it says installation failed.
Any help appreciated thanks!
Sounds like you're straight out of luck to recover any data if your device is completely stock, as to unlock your bootloader to access encrypted data would mean a factory reset. You could try try one of the unbrick tools using the guide here. You will lose your data.
I tried the unbrick tool here - forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/oneplus-5t-unbricking-tool-confirmation-t3733012
... and it doesn't work. The phone now boots to a blank screen with a constant white LED.
Could this be a hardware issue?
I'm not too concerned about losing my data - already gave up on trying to keep my data when the problem first occurred!
After the 4th use of the unbrick tool (each time it completes successfully) I was finally able to boot into the phone.
I got as far as setting the region but then it wouldn't find any wifi networks. It then completely froze on this screen and is now back to "your device is corrupt and cannot be trusted" and will continually try to boot and freeze on the oneplus logo. Sometimes it will boot to a blank screen with a white LED.
Has anyone else had this issue? I'm definitely suspecting a hardware issue now...

Problem fixed?
unfortunately not. Any ideas on next steps?
That's an odd issue for sure. My only idea would be installing TWRP and maybe formatting from there and using fix permissions etc. to see if it has any effect.
I've done some googling to try and understand "TWRP" but I'm not sure I fully understand. Are there any forum posts I can refer to?
- phone has been flashed several times
- before this whole saga dev mode was enabled, but only to reduce animation scale - USB debugging was never enabled
- the phone has always been stock / sim free - never rooted
Thanks
Can you get into recovery? If yes then try connecting to a pc whilst in recovery as it should let you open your phones internal storage on PC but im not too sure if stock recovery allows it, (TWRP) does. Then copy whatever files you need. Let us know if you can get into fastboot mode aswell
It sounds similar to an issue I have just experienced with a friends 5T. In my case it's a hardware issue (seems like Wi-Fi has died). Just for kicks try to flash the Android 7 firmware. For some reason it allowed me to boot the phone fine and use it, albeit without any Wi-Fi. I sideloaded OOS 4.7.6 and that seems to be the last version 7. You could also use the older unbrick software. Academic I fear as I think you have a hardware issue.
Hi, is there anyone who has ever encountered with such issue? It just randomly restarting. I've done a MSMTool Unbrick Method but no avail, it booted but still randomly restarting. I suspect there is a hardware malfunction.
List of issues that I encounter :
1. Random reboot, a lot
2. Blinking screen on and off when boot animation shown
3. Always fail to do system update, locally and OTA
4. Google play store, gboard, oneplus launcher keeps crashing
5. ???
Will update the list once I remember and encounter a new one.
I've tried multiple method but still no sign of good news. I've tried wiping data & cache using default recovery, all in one tool and lastly MSMTool. Pls help!
Anyone?
Now, even MSM Tool cannot detect my device.
At first, my PC detected my phone as Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostic 900e, something along that line. And then I found this tutorial to convert that into QDLoader 9008. But when I clicked enum, my MSM Tool didn't detect anything.
Few days ago my device start to restart by itself and then bootloop.
Normally I got bootloops in other phones (HTC) coz of MY fault always - like flashing wrong firmware or wrong version of boot.img but just like this bootloops is quite strange.
Maybe send it back - warranty if your bootloader is still closed etc.

I am really sad that my device still keeps restarting. I've countlessly tried to reflash the software using whatever tools exist. I've noticed something though, when playing youtube video, the video sometimes breaks (blur, I'll attach the ss later) and after several seconds it became normal again.
