I have a friend who bought a S20 Ultra from AT&T, phone is not fully paid off yet but he often uses a SIM from another provider so he bought the unlock code online. The code worked fine and phone is unlocked, however, when he uses the other SIM it can't connect to the network.
Does anyone knows if this phone is locked for domestic networks? I've never seen this before.
I have the same issue, any idea?

A few months ago I bought a T-Mobile Note 3 on Craigslist, unlocked it, and started using Net10 (a prepaid MVNO carrier on AT&T's network).
Today, I decided to look up the IMEI of this phone for no reason at all, and saw that it was blocked on T-Mobile. T-Mobile's website said it was reported lost. However, it works on AT&T networks.
So my question is, even though it's blocked on T-Mobile, will this phone work on MVNOs using T-Mobile's network? For example, Solavei, Simple Mobile, or even Net10 (they have a T-Mobile option too).
Most likely no. It will just be a matter of time that the phone will be on the data base and the phone will be blocked. I believe all US carrier share one blacklist database.
It will eventually get black listed call tmobile and pitch a fit I did and they removed the imei from their blacklist the person never paid off the phone
Hello everyone I hope that I get a response I have an LG G4 from Verizon that is fully paid off that I want to send to my sister in Mexico her carrier is AT&T. Now AT&T is a GSM carrier in Mexico emperor what I have found it would be compatible with the network however my question is how can I unlock the LG G4 Sim card so that she can plug in her Sim card. I have found that Verizon says that all of their LTE phones are unlocked but I just want to make sure before I send her a phone that she would not be able to use if I don’t do anything and everything I need to do
Unfortunately, I don't think you will be able to use this phone with an AT&T Mexico SIM Card. If your phone was locked and used on Verizon, it means that is a CDMA device. Thus, it works only with Verizon and doesn't recognize the GSM Technology so it won't accept the AT&T Sim card.
More info on CDMA networks here: https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/cdma-networks/
I think you are better of selling this device in the US and buying an already unlocked GSM model.

ask verizon to unlock it.
i have tmobile one unlocked from tmobile works great.
I just picked up a U.S. model unlocked A50, but before I open it I wanted to find out if anyone has successfully used a data-only T-Mobile SIM in theirs. This plan and SIM I have I've been able to move between any unlocked phone or tablet I've tried over the last few years. Works great for what I use it for - a secondary device.
The reason I'm wondering if it works in the A50 is because it did not work in my old unlocked model S9+, I'm guessing because T-Mobile had the IMEI registered in their system as a smartphone and not an unlocked tablet or phone.
Since the A50 is not sold by T-Mobile, I'm hoping I won't have this issue...any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
I'll go ahead and answer my own question in case someone needs this info in the future.
Yes, my data-only SIM works perfectly in the unlocked A50. Once I put the SIM in, the phone rebooted and reconfigured itself for T-Mobile and automatically setup the correct APN. Data and texting worked great, only issue was the APN was not editable and I needed to do this to enable the hotspot.
I manually created an identical APN to the stock one, with the only addition being a ",dun" added to the end of APN type to enable the hotspot feature.
Everything is working great now, very happy with this phone. IMO, this is by far the best phone out there for the price.
I have a Verizon s20 ultra 5g. I have visible service but when I put my visible sim in it shows my phone number but no service. The phone is paid off and works with other sim cards from other carriers but not my visible. I verified the phone is compatible with visible service. It like it doesn't automatically try to set up the visible service. The sim card works fine in other devices as well. Could flashing a non Verizon firmware fix this?
I purchased a Verizon Galaxy Note 10+ 5g from ebay last year to use for Total Wireless. Well the phone wasnt compatible with Total Wireless at the time and I had to switch to Verizon prepaid. Now the phone is compatible but I cant add APN's to the device because Verizon has greyed out the option. I bought a US Mobile Sim card so I can switch all of our phones over since it is cheaper and is a Verizon MVNO, but I cant get everything to work on my note 10+ 5g. I was able to download an app that let me add APN's and the LTE comes up but now I cant get VoLTE to work. Its turned on but when I make a phone call, it switches to 1x. This is a problem since Verizon is doing away with their CDMA Network. I have spoken to Verizon, US Mobile, and Samsung with no help. My other Note 8 will work just fine when I put the US Mobile Sim card in and my Samsung a71 5g wont work at all and wont let me add APN's even with the app.
I have been doing research and found out about SamKEY and bought some credits to change the CSC from VZW to XAA. I was in the process and it gave a warning about locking the SEC so I decided to do more research before I screwed something up.
The phone is unlocked but for some reason, Verizon phones have these issues with a Verizon MVNO. I can add the TMO sim card from US Mobile and it will allow me to edit the APN's without an issue but I get zero coverage here so I cant use it. So how can I change the CSC to get VoLTE working on a Verizon MVNO? Or can I even change the CSC on this phone? I am so sick of Verizon phones but Im afraid to buy an unlocked phone since It doesnt support all of Verizon's bands.

IDK about unlocking an US device. I prefer unlocked devices.
US unlocked versions of Samsung devices are called "U1". It's part of the model number/name.
E.g. SM-G981U is the US locked Samsung Galaxy S20 5g (like for Verizon), and the SM-G981U1 is the US unlocked version of the same device.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up selling the phone and buying a Google Pixel 4 XL. Saved some money and its unlocked. Ill never buy another Verizon Edition of the phone again.
