A70 vbmeta error after After trying to install TWRP - Samsung Galaxy A70 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone
I have a problem I tried to install TWRP after going through the whole process
Apparently it didn't work out
I did it again but this time I'm stuck in a download mode and can't get out of it
Even if I make a Rist it goes right back to the same situation
I have a message "partition vbmeta
Reason vbmeta: Error verifying vbmeta image:
0_0_INDIVLDVMT_EDRHS_IMTHSGAUEMSAC"
Screenshot:url - https: // prnt.sc / pih0ax
I'm trying to overwrite vbmeta that doesn't work for me
And return me a message Custom Binary (vbmeta) Blocked by OEM Lock
What can I do to solve this please help me
Sorry for my English

First flash full rom via Odin.
Then read first post about Recovery for a70.
There are a complete informations.
After flash vbmeta must go to recovery, wipe data and restart phone.
When phone started you must connect with WI-FI and change date (ex. 01.01.2020) and check if OEM unlock is selected.
Now reboot to download mode and flash vbmeta.
When you wipe data and changed the date can flash TWRP.

[TuT]-How to unlock Samsung Smartphones FRP/FAP boot lock without "Loosing your data"
How to reset FRP-Lock without Loosing your Data
HII..Guyss...
I am Nishant ...here to help you with your FRP-Locked Samsung Devices..
Now from hereby:- I am not Responsible if you gone Rabbit and done something wrong to your device
CAUSE:-
Actually this is beacuse you have flashed with custom binaries..
Custom binaries are like:-Custom Recovery(TWRP,CWM,SuperSU) or any other custom binaries that is not official.
Now these custom binaries modify boot sectors of your smartphone..
and these changes were not detected by your smartphone UNTIL and UNLESS you Turn off OEM-UNLOCK from DEVELOPER option..Result:-when you turn "OEM-UNLOCK to Off" OEM-LOCK will be enabled and on your next reboot (it also happens by mistake when you switch you developer option "switch")
OEM-Lock prevent your smartphone from booting with custom binaries...NOW,
.neither you can boot your phone nor you can access in Recovery-mode to wipe and reset..
and that prevent smartphone from booting with any custom binaries inside it..
So,
what now,if you know something about flashing than u have no choice offcourse either flash your smartphone with odin or you have to give it to
Samsung service center to make it work..which means loss of all your DATA (except extSdCard)
but,
I am here to solve your problem.. without Loosing a bit data of yours so, Follow me..
Solution:
1:-first download either your stock Firmware(I am not telling you to Flash your whole android smartphone).
Or...Manage to get your stock Boot.img and recovery.img file from anywhere on the web it is packed inside "your-Firmware.tar.md5" file
if you get your Boot and recovery.img file then skip to step 3
2:- Dwnloaded your firmware files now extract it using 7zip somewhere and copy out boot.img and recovery.img
3:- Download .img-to-tar from below and convert them from .img to .tar.md5 (odin-Flashable file)..
4:- Now first flash recovery.tar.md5 from odin to your smartphone.
5:-Secondly Flash boot.tar.md5 to your smartphone..
The Above Steps will reset your boot and recovery to stock version
Done......
Again its your Buddy Nishant...:good::good: ........enjoyy your FRP unlock
"Dont forget to turn on OEM-Unlock from developer option.."
.
The title of your thread should be "How to fix Samsung Phones which get stuck on Samsung logo with "Custom binary blocked by FRP Lock" Cause your title means how to remove frp not how to solve the stuck problem ..
Thank you

[BND-L24] No Recovery After Trying To Install TWRP

I've unlocked my bootloader, and tried to install TWRP (the BND-L21 version, it seemed to work fine for other US users) so I could flash a generic boot image like LineageOS 15. It flashed without problems, but when trying to boot to it, I get the following error:
Attention!
Please update system again
[picture of open Android logo]
Func NO : 11 (recovery image)
Error NO : 2 (load failed!)
However, I can boot into the system without problems. I've tried to use erecovery to download the firmware and install the update, but that failed.
Is there a way I can either:
A. Install TWRP so I have a recovery? or
B. Install the default firmware so I can have the stock recovery?
P.S. Here's the command I used:
HTML:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk (name of recovery file here)

Happened the same thing with me and i easily had the work around..
But this thread doesnt belong here..
And are you able to access the rom which you installed? Or it straight away goes to erecovery or the error page?

The ROM I have installed is the stock EMUI 8.0 ROM. I can boot into it without problems. It only shows the error page if I try to boot into the recovery.

Doing the update second time is fine, and best way to restore full stock. But you needed to use Oreo version of no-check recovery and the Oreo partition to flash it to.
So if still able to get into twrp, can try with correct no-check recovery and correct partition it's flashed to.
Also
With multi tool , make sure you put check mark on emui 8. Up in upper right corner. That way it uses Oreo partition names and file not nougat.
The partition length over message usually means nougat file or partition name used on Oreo system

On the extractor app. On options tab uncheck the verify header option, it should extract then.
Then perhaps first do these three partitions.
Kernel.img
Ramdisk.img
Then
twrp_ramdisk or for stock use recovery_ramdisk

adb devices
adb shell content insert --uri content://settings/secure --bind name:s:user_setup_complete --bind value:s:1
adb shell am start -n com.google.android.gsf.login/
adb shell am start -n com.google.android.gsf.login.LoginActivity
pause
in fastboot type:
fastboot -w
after all it's works to me to bypass google account verification
and if now your problem is

So now is locked frp. Does phone have twrp or stock now.?
I think when you tried to install the oreo update for second time, you followed same tutorial as the first time. And that made you problem worse. The tutorial has you flash no-check recovery to 2 partition by block number. 22 & 29. On nougat that is "recovery" and "recovery2". On Oreo partion table it is "reserved2" & "erecovery_vendor"
I don't know how to fix imei. Have hope that if to ucan have a full ota install , maybe can be fixed.
There is available a "service rom" (used to fix most all problem) for Europe region with l21.
I can share link to site with service rom if you want , but I have not used it myself so not gonna be much help with it.
Link is to rusian language page. Google should translate for you.

in summery. because i have been going back and forth in multiple different groups, multiple problem, i cant remember it all.
you have broken system, from failed root attempt, followed by failed update.
device condition is as follows.
--system not booting
--stock recovery loads
--fastboot/bootloader loads, but is in frp lock status
options are limited, at best.
I think "dload" method with service rom is best.
other option is maybe paid service like dc-unlock. But I can recall some note on there service about frp-unlock, that can only be used on device with working system. (of course if was working system, wouldn't need dc-unlock)

what about the "about phone" screen
what does it show for version?
If is all stock you should be able to go into deveolper options and enable "oem unlock". If it is greyed out and cannot switch it. Try First to remove google account (all accounts ). and reboot. See if can change then. If not, try Second to do "fastboot oem relock [enter your bootloader code here]
after relock and rebooted oem switch should be enabled again.
****RELOCK IS ONLY ADVISED IF 100% STOCK ROM****
otherwise relock could make more trouble.
Still not sure how to get IMEI back even if unlocked frp though.
**And please stop posting in other threads , the same problem , because you are getting help here.
your post in recovery thread is off topic to that thread and just makes the forum harder to maintain.

Hello I have a Huawei Mate-SE (with bootloader unlocked and rooted with magisk v16). I have been using the android custom rom RRO v6 (RR-O-v6.0.0-20180401-bnd-OpenKirin) for around a month now. I got this exact same problem about the White Screen saying "ERROR MODE Attention...." since I updated the Magisk to latest version (from the installed application) and rebooted my phone. SInce I rebooted I am getting that same error which makes the phone loops into it for a few times and then it loads the Huawei eRecovery that offers me some options that I am not sure what would do to my phone.
I have been trying to connect to adb tools/fastboot but it doesn't detect the phone and im pretty sure I have the device drivers installed on my computer since nothing have changed in my pc for a month now since I flashed RRO on it.
Is there any other mode besides recovery that would allow me to connect adb/fastboot to it? Or does anyone knows how should I proceed?

I have seen where the magisk update screwed up and patches the kernel intead of the ramdisk.
Power off , long press power button.
Hold volume down and plug in USB from PC.
This should cause it to boot into fastboot mode.
Then flash the stock kernel. And the stock or first patched ramdisk. (From earlier root)

Hi thank you I was able to finally detect the device now. I am unsure about the kernel is that the recovery.img or system.img files I downloaded (i saved every file i used when I installed the rom) or do I need to look for the kernel somewhere else? I do have the complete_twrp_ramdisk.img file though.
Edit, I did more research and found the stock kernel is withing the boot.img file which I dont have so I looked up for the official BND-L34 oreo update and im currently downloading to extract the stock boot.img from the update.zip and flash it. Since that download was going to take me a while anyway i tried flashing the twrp recovery file without success (didn't changed anything) so i guess I should follow the instructions you gave me by flashing the kernel first then the twrp recovery.

Do you know what the boot.img files name is after extraction?
I have extracted all 3 update zips and cannot find anything called boot.img
By the way, thank you.. After updating magisk I have been dealing with failed recovery and failed boot for over a week and this is the first reply anywhere that looks promising

if you were on oreo. then there is not a boot.img, instaed there is seperate ramdisk.img and kernel.img.
i have all the files already extracted for oreo and a backup from nougat as well.
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=265998
make sure you know what you are doing before flashing.
for example. on oreo the boot and recovery share one kernel image. SO if kernel is messed up you will not be able to boot "boot" or "recovery"

Can't boot into system after installing MIUI 11

Hello!
My first time playing with custom roms and my first post here. This is what happens:
I install MIUI 11
I boot the the phone into system
The MI.com/Unlocked splash screen is displayed for about 45 seconds
The screen goes blank
The MI.com/Unlocked screen is displayed again
It boots into recovery, which is TWRP.
Why is MIUI 11 not starting? How do I debug to find out what's going wrong?
I tried installing various custom ROMs. There was no problem unlocking the phone, installing drivers and adb on the laptop, installing TWRP on the phone.
After installing the first ROM, the phone went into a bootloader loop and I thought I'd bricked the phone but after running...
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-15-Mi9SE.img
...it could boot into recovery so then I could install another ROM.
After installing...
crDroidAndroid-10.0-20200311-grus-v6.4.zip
...downloaded from sourceforge.net mi9se project, it would only boot recovery but not system, until I issued the command...
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc/1d84000.ufshc/by-name/misc
...as described by android.stackexchange.com user nholtappels.
So one custom ROM is working!
I tried installing MIUI Android 9...
xiaomi.eu_multi_MI9SE_V11.0.1.0.QFBCNXM_v11-10.zip
...and android 10...
xiaomi.eu_multi_MI9SE_V11.0.3.0.PFBCNXM_v11-9.zip
...downloaded from sourceforge xiaomi-eu-multilang-miui-roms project
During both the installs, the zip signature verified, there were no errors and they finished with
script succeeded: result was [0]
Updating partition details...
...done
But the system doesn't start, it just boots back into recovery. I tried both the vbmeta and dd fixes but still no luck. What to try next?
Thanks!
If you flash miui Rom from custom stock based android you should flash miui with miflash first. Or restore miui backup. Then flash xiaomi.eu (for example) without system wipe.

If you flash miui Rom from custom stock based android you should flash miui with miflash first. Or restore miui backup. Then flash xiaomi.eu (for example) without system wipe.

That worked!
Used MiFlash to install grus_global_images_V11.0.6.0.PFBMIXM_20191224.0000.00_9.0_global_93745e72c5-official.tgz
Then TWRP to install xiaomi.eu_multi_MI9SE_V11.0.2.0.QFBCNXM_v11-10.zip
Now the phone is running Android 10 with MIUI 11
Thank you.
Glad I could help.
After more experimentation, this is what I have found out...
1) It's important which version of the stock ROM is installed on the phone before the custom ROM is flashed. Most Android 9 ROMs work on top of any grus_global_images_V10.*, but some require one later than this or earlier than that (PixelExperience 9.7.4 to 9.8.1) or even one specific version (e.g. XenonHD 10.3.4.0 PFBEUXM).
Sometimes the instructions say 'install the latest version' but then a new version is released that it doesn't work with e.g. grus_global_images_V11.*
It would be useful if instructions stated more clearly which versions a custom ROM does/doesn't work on. Maybe some people like to dig through many pages of replies to find out and learn other useful stuff in the process, but some people just want to install a ROM and have it work.
2) MiFlash is not required to install stock ROMs. You can use fastboot instead. Just run flash_all.bat on Windows or flash_all.sh on Linux/Mac. If fastboot is not on the path, open a command shell, change to the folder containing the fastboot executable and invoke the script using a full absolute path.
This is useful if you don't have administrator access, or just don't like giving it to downloaded software.
I hope another newbie finds this useful. Don't give up, keep trying.

TWRP does work above 12.0.5, I have tested.
New build: https://tdrive.elytra8.workers.dev/image-new.img
Flash like you flash any other custom recovery.
For ADS in MIUI, using debloat tool and removing MSA does the job.

Uhm... hello, newbie here and hopefully in the right thread.
I have a Redmi Note 9 and wanted to install LineageOS. What I have done so far:
Jumped through all the hoops to unlock the bootloader.
Since that erases all user data, I did not bother setting a password in the setup. Just went through it as quickly as possible.
Installed TWRP 12.0.6
Used that to install lineage-17.1-20210209-UNOFFICIAL-merlin.zip from here.
Result: The new system does not boot. I always end up in TWRP again. Even if I specifically go to Reboot -> System, it'll boot into recovery. I think the first boot fails and then it goes into recovery (if I power the device off and on again, it vibrates, the logo comes on, the screen goes black, it vibrates again, the logo shows again, and then I'm in TWRP).
What I have tried unsuccessfully:
Flashing the vbmeta from here.
Erasing the misc partition.
Flashing the old lk from here.
Closing the AVB2.0 after flash (with and without closing DM verity).
Wiping cache, dalvik, data, internal storage, and cache before reinstalling LOS.
Replacing TWRP with PBRP and trying again.
Probably some other things I don't remember. I've been chasing red herrings through this rabbit hole all day.
I also tried to install the ArrowOS build (from here), just to have one more datapoint. After that, the device boot-loops into the bootloader, and I have to manually go into recovery via VolUp+Power. This leads me to believe that it's not the LOS build at fault. It seems more likely that I am a moron and am doing something wrong. I just can't figure out what it is.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, Custom roms for Redmi Note 9 need MIUI 12.0.1 Indonesia, or MIUI 12.0.3 global vendor.
Downgrade your phone to the specific MIUI vendor, and then try flashing custom rom.
Here's the link for global 12.0.3
Xiaomi Firmware Updater
The ultimate script that provides firmware packages for Xiaomi devices.
xiaomifirmwareupdater.com
And before you downgrade your miui version, please erase system and vendor to bypass anti roll back.
Use these commands after connecting device in fastboot mode:
fastboot reboot fastboot
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase vendor
fastboot reboot bootloader
Then flash the 12.0.3 global/12.0.1 Indonesia miui version through MiFlash.
Or
You could give flashing 12.0.1 Indonesia vendor in TWRP, and then flashing rom.
If after fastboot reboot fastboot it shows waiting for device, install this driver. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JFYCZ3mu_Y_xpnS7QrmtwqOeFnWg6DO2/view?usp=sharing
Please note that you need to be on stock recovery for fastboot reboot fastboot to work.
Happy flashing
Thank you very much! With that info, I think I finally have it working!
I case it's helpful for future users, here are some issues I encountered along the way:

Is that normal? I do have a partition named 'super' that I can see in the TWRP backup module. Judging from its size, that could be the system partition. I think there's also a vbmeta_system and vbmeta_vendor, did you mean those?

Ok, so I downloaded the full ROM for 12.0.3 global. I'm using Linux, so MiFlash won't work. But the ROM archive I downloaded contained a bunch of partition images and a shell script that would flash them using the fastboot command. I just ran that script. Windows users probably could have run the .bat file that was also included. There were no errors. And after a reboot, MIUI started to boot and presented me with the setup procedure.
I did not complete the setup (I suspect it would have just auto-updated MIUI to something that would have caused problems again) and used the power button to go into the bootloader.
From there, I flashed TWRP again (since it got overwritten by the script mentioned above), went into recovery mode, and tried to install LOS again. First, flashing seemed to hang. The last messages in the log were:
Code:
Installing file '/external_sd/Download/lineage-17.1-20210209-UNOFFICIAL-merlin.zip'
Checking for Digest file...
Target: Redmi/merlin_eea/merlin:10/QP1A.190711.020/V11.0.2.0.QJOEUXM:user/release-leys
And that was it. The border around the progress bar was doing it's busy animation thing and after waiting for 10 minutes, I used the power button to reset the device.
The second attempt went through fine, and now I have LineageOS running on the device. I still need to play around with it some more to see if there are any issues, but the flashing itself seems to have worked.
Again, thank you for your help!

Oh you're using Linux, for Linux the commands is
/.fastboot reboot fastboot
Great to know you were able to flash successfuly. Note that first boot in all roms is a bootloop, you just have to force reboot after a minute of bootlogo showing up or so.

Apparentely, you need to flash in EDL mode.
So, you need to bypass the authentication in EDL mode first.
Read this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...d-flash-in-edl-with-no-auth-for-free.4229683/
Newbie Android user here, hopefully i’m on the correct thread...i have a Redmi Note 9 with MIUI Global version 11.0.5 and Magisk version 20.4.
I tried updating Magisk to the latest version using the direct install option but I keep getting an error. I was told I need manually patch the boot.img and flash it but I need to create a magisk_patch.img first from the boot.img.
I read some of the guides on this thread but I’m not sure which one to follow. Also the steps to create the magisk_patch.image shows I need to click the Install button on Magisk then Select and Patch a file. I only have the Update button on Magisk, can I use that instead?
Or if you have other suggestion how to fix my issue. I attached the error I’m getting when I’m updating Magisk.
Thank you in advance for the assistance.

You can't install the magisk using the direct option.
You need to the patch the boot.img file and then flash the magisk_patched.img using fastboot (or spflashtool).

Good work, my friend.
You are welcome
HELP PLS
i first flashed the patched_magisk.img then i got in a twrp boot loop. When i try to reboot into the system i get back to twrp menu.
Then i panicked and went to WIPE and factory reseted,
but it got stuck again. Then i powered it off.
How do i get out of this? I wanted to flash the stock boot.img but the storage folders has strange names
EDIT:
i figured it out what i have done. The data was ecrypted so i formated the data. But now i have another problem:
I installed linageOS from here, but when want to reboot back to system it says
No OS Installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot? i don't undertand why the custom rom didn't install.
I just copied the .zip file with the custom rom in the phone and hit install in TWRP. What did i do wrong?

Steps for flashing vbmeta are same for every device.
You may try to use the search.
Here, you can find patched vbmeta for MERLIN:

no, i mean a full guide for rooting from the beggining to end, for redmi note 9. For example i missed the vbmeta and this resulted in an error. Now i have to flash the stock firmware and wait for another 7 days for it to unlock. For newbies like me, this looks like a mess. If you don't have one, can you please create one? Do it for us, newcomers. Thanks
