Hello,
That's it ... I received my Galaxy S20 Ultra. The grip is a bit confusing. It must be said that today I used Galaxy Note 4 (2014) Android 6.01 and I switched to Android 10. I do not complain, I am rather satisfied.
However, I have a few questions related to security:
1. How to choose or define an secure folder where sensitive apps will run (banks, etc.)?
2. How to choose or define an secure folder where sensitive files will be stored?
3. As of today, on my Galaxy Note 4, I had 3 security apps installed, LBE Security Master (permissions management, applications, battery, ads, malware, notifications), Smart Manager and Clean Master - Space Cleaner & Antivirus (Chinese app, banned from Playstore).
Does the Galaxy S20 Ultra have genuine security apps installed (permissions, antivirus, malware, etc.)? If not, which apps do you recommend (links)?
Finally, the S20 comes with a single cable: USB C <-> USB C. Now I would like to connect my S20 to the computer, so I need a USB C-> USB 2. Unfortunately, ONLY THE CABLES PROVIDED BY SAMSUNG WORK.
I have tried my non-Samsung cables/adapters OTG, although they work fine with other hardware, NONE of theme works with the S20.
Is this normal? Where can I buy working cables and/or adapters (links)?
Regards

I had the same problem with the charging cable (only usb-c) so I ordered this one from Amazon. The price went up a bit since the time I bought it. Nevertheless it's an original data/charging cable for Galaxy S10 and it works without any issues with S20. It's important that the model version is EP-DG950CBE

I just moved to a Samsung S3 and a Samsung Note 8 from the Asus world, and I'm missing the ability to use USB ethernet adapters. Apparently, Samsung removes the drivers from JB and future releases? Has anyone discovered a way to either flash the drivers back in, or do you know if any of the aftermarket roms for the Note 8 include this functionality?
Thanks!
I know what you are saying. I have an Asus tf 300 with a belkin ethernet adapter...didn't use it much though, never tried it on my note 2 smart dock..., hope it works. I think if it works on note 2.. it should work on note 8

Age old solution: root, compile the driver for your kernel, and load it.
Else: buy device with support baked in.
For me, Wi-Fi model on 4.1.2 does not support the dongle from the first gen ASUS Zenbook UX-31.
Hi,
I have downloaded DSLR Controller for my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 4.1.2 Kernel. I have hooked it up using OTG USB cable to my Canon 600D/T3i camera. Both are compatible according to the website. So why the heck aint it working?
The cables arent cheap ones and the mini USB is the one that came with the camera. When I click the app on my Tab 3 it just says Android device not compatible with Android USB host API.
Im not tech savvy so dont know what this means. It also says a firmware update may fix the issue but I appear to be fully updated.
any ideas?
Now we all know that the GearVR no longer supports the use of the Note 7. But I wonder if Samsung has enable the Note FE to be used with the GearVR Seeing as the Note FE is nothing more than a refurbished Note 7 with a smaller battery.
I tried VR with the Note 7 ported rom last night and none of the software was present and it did nothing when plugged into the headset. Installed apks but no joy. Will keep you posted if I get it working.
Good news. editing build.prop > ro.build.model to "SM-G955V" (model no. for S8+) has stopped crashing of Oculus app.
Manually installing all packages has now allowed me to get into Oculus app Will try with the headset when I get home.
*edit* waiting on OTG fix from rom dev in hope it sorts the recognition.
VR does work on my Note 7 with Hydra without any issues. But change the model to a S7 edge SM-G935F because if you change it to a S8+ the Apps will think you are using a S8+ a 18.5 screen and will stretch the image! this will leave you with a wrong aspect ratio and a headache.
I'm not wondering if the original Note 7 will working with the GearVR. I wanna know if the Note FE running the stock OS will work with the GearVR. It is good to know that the original Note 7 will work with the GearVR running a custom OS
Chieco is right about what I was saying with the aspect ratio. No need to deviate from the way it was done before.
Sorry I didn't read your post properly. I think there will be issues still, like I'm having atm. As it's not supported like the note 7 you will need to root, do the build . prop fix and get the vr setupwizard apk as it won't be on the phone.

That sucks. I would have thought that Samsung would have addressed this when they released the Note FE. Seeing as the Note FE has a different model number and is running on the latest OS version

My guess would be that Oculus/Samsung couldn't be bothered or didn't want to make it easier to get it working on regular notes. This might be why the latest version crashes constantly and won't detect. I'm curious if it still works on hydra or if they patched it to not work on either note7 full stop.
Any News to use gear vr on our Note 7 with FE rom port (on hydraRom, it works...)
Hi,
I try to figure out if last year's Gear VR is fully compatible with my new Galaxy S9 and get conflicting information on this topic. Some sites say that the Gear VR for Galaxy S8 (SM-R324) will work with the Galaxy S9, e.g. on Android Central:
"First, you can tell just by the look of the device. If the headset is black and comes with the motion controller, then it works with the Galaxy S8 and therefore will also work with the Galaxy S9. Second, you can check your headset's compatibility using your Gear VR's model number. You can follow our how-to guide to find your model number. If your device's model number is SM-R325 or SM-R324 then your Gear VR will work with the Galaxy S9."

However, there is an article on cnet.com that says:
"Samsung's newest phones, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, didn't debut with any new VR hardware. They do work with the Gear VR. However, they only work with the Note 8 model released in September last year, not the nearly identical Galaxy S8 version that debuted in March that same year. We confirmed this with Samsung. The issue is all about the fit.
Apparently, the design of the S9 is different enough that attempting to put it into an earlier S8-compatible Gear VR, released in early 2017, could damage it. Samsung advises using the Note 8 Gear VR, released in September 2017, for the best fit."

Has anyone tried putting a Galaxy S9 into a SM-R324 headset? I'm asking because the SM-R324 is more favorable than the latest model (SM-R325), but I don't want to damage my phone in the process.
Thanks for your help!
STOP! All you need is one of these!
Genuine Samsung Gear VR4 2017 SM-R325 Type-C Adapter/Connector - GH98-42239A
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07C59BRLQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_zogbBb3MCJ5JM
A lot cheaper than a whole new headset! You will need a stanley knife or craft knife to shave a small bit of plastic from the adapter but this is easily done and will be apparent when you compare the old and new adapters side by side.
I had the same question just a few days ago searched on the internet for it but couldn't find anything about it apart from a tweet from samsung australia which confirmed that sm-r324 should work just fine. So i bought it anyway since it was only 30 euro's for me. That article of Cnet also made me hesitate buying the r324 variant but I've tried it and can confirm that it works just fine. It fits perfectly and does definitly not damage the device. So yes you can buy the r324 variant no need for the r325 version. At least for the normal s9 (not sure about the s9+ but doubt it's any different)
I have a sm-r324 that worked with samsung galaxy s9+ until I upgraded to android 10.
Now, when I plug in the phone Oculus does not start and all that I can see (if I open the app manually) is the picture in which there is the indication to insert the gear vr (but nothing happened).
I have uninstalled all oculus app and service and inserted again the phone into gear, then I heard the sound e installed again all the app suggested (default procedure).
Do you know if there is some trick to make reworking the gear vr or is it better to install again android 9?
Thanks

Today I received oculus for gear vr update and it is perfectly working.
Im completely new to Android having just ditched my company-supplied iPhone and bought an A50 (love it by the way!)
Are there any watches compatible with this phone that I can get notifications etc? I am not sure what specifications I need to check that the A50 has. The Samsung web site doesnt list the A50 as being compatible with Galaxy watch so should I just be looking at bluetooth compatibility.
Thanks for any pointers.
Yes you can use galaxy smartwatch with A50
I am using Galaxy Watch with A50. TOTAL DISASTER ! Watch and phone are disconnecting/ connecting frequently. Had no problems with same GW and Lenovo P2.
Samsung support completely useless as usual.
I have a Gear Fit2 Pro that I used with limitations paired to an iPhone but the full feature set works flawlessly with the A50 including quick replies, clearing notifications, complete message content and caller ID on every call.
It doesn't ever disconnect in the same room but I found the range pretty limited compared to the iPhone, so I assume Bluetooth range is more of an A50 issue.
After last firmware update for Galaxy A50 and firmware update for Galaxy Watch - both work perfectly in pair.
