[Q] Installing Google Play on Asian/Chinese One M8?

Hi, I just got myself an HTC One M8 today. Bought it here in Beijing, China, at a China Unicom store. Turns out they call it M8w, but it should, as far as I know, be very similar to the official Asian version (it has a 2.5 GHz CPU and both FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE). Google Play Store was not installed, so I'm trying to get it installed.
I tried installing Google Play Store using the "Google installer" app by Eric Xiang, mostly used for Xiaomi phones, but basically it's an app to download APK files manually and install them.
So far I've gotten Gmail and Google Translate to work without problems after installing it from the Google installer, but Google Play Store fails to start with a message saying "No connection" and a "Retry" button. This is probably because Google Services Framework (a dependency of Play Store) crashes after installation.
Any suggestions on what I should do? Do I need to root and put in a non-Chinese ROM?
Thanks in advance!
For the M8t, there is a easier way for Google Play service (gmail, map... etc),
Just search "GMS安装器" from HTC App store or Baidu App store. Then you are good to go.
For anybody that's interested, I didn't manage to get all Google apps running properly, so several months ago I flashed in this system dump instead. (I unlocked the bootloader and flashed it in using a utility I don't remember the name of, but I will look it up and update this post if I remember it.)
Haven't noticed any issues so far except for that I don't seem to be able to update anything OTA. But I guess that might be normal?

I'd asked the same thing months ago. I've yet to find a direct method. What I've done was to install things to my phone or tablet, then sideload them. Or if you are just wanting to backup the apk, there are many backup apps out there.

I wanted that to try sideloading app's from Amazon App store that are marked as non compatible with Fire TV, but few of then should work fine..
Maybe some apps that require Google Account does not require in the Amazon App Store (not tested)

The best way to do that is to download them to a compatible device then sideload them. f you are rooted, you can install the Google Play Store too and access many more apps.

An Alternative method is to install them on a compatible device from the Play Store, and then extract them with an apk extractor, also from the Play Store.
It's still a mystery (to me) why Amazon hasn't figured out what's compatible with the fire and what's not.
Yeah, but the main problem is that some apps require google account (google services must be installed) and some of then does not require that in the amazon app version..
My device version can't be rooted... i got it with an rooteable version, then i turned it on (without internet) and after reading few tutorials in how to root it, after few hours it started updating automatically and i was not able to cancel it (IT WAS WITHOUT INTERNET) ¬¬

Then your only choice is to use a different device to install them on from the Amazon Appstore, then sideload them to the FTV. It's easy to do. There are several apps that will sideload an installed app on one device directly to the FTV.

Correct. So I guess I've been lucky. I'm not rooted and so far I've been able to install everything I've wanted to install. Except, of course, the Play Store itself. Which IMO, is only an inconvenience.
What is it you want to install? What do you want your FTV to do that it doesn't?
I install the app on my tablet, and then use AGK to sideload to my FireTV stick. My tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, running ICS 4.0.4, and won't run Kodi for example (it's not a Neon device). This method is how I was able to get Kodi installed on the Fire stick. Of course the problem is getting the app installed on the tablet if it's listed as non-compatable by Anazon. As for making backups of apps on my tablet, I use ES Task Manager. Free and works like a charm.
asphalt 8 amazon apk
I have a similar problem. I have a fire hd 6 and no other amazon device. I would like asphalt 8 on it but it says it is incompatible. I cant believe this quad-core tablet couldn't handle asphalt when my moms old single core acer can. If I get the apk from my nexus 7 (also shows as incompatible with asphalt in amazon store) I get a no license error. I bought the game on the amazon site so if anybody has the apk I would appreciate it. Thanks
I just released an extension for Chrome for downloading APK files from Amazon Appstore directly on your PC. You can check this thread for more information

Install App for Android 5 and higher?!

Hello,
first - I am from Germany, so my English is probably not the best. But I hope you will understand me. I came here because nobody can help me in German forums.
I use the S4 Mini with CM13, root included. What I want is installing an app which is only for Android 5 and higher, exactly the "Seat Connect App". First I tried to find an APK for this APP, but there is no APK to find, although I try as hard as I can.
The Market Helper APK also not help, I tried to switch my phone into an S5 with it. The Play Store via Computer allows me to install the app, but the phone says the app does not confirm with my device (error code 940).
I also tried to edit the build.prob, I think it was the only way to install apps for higher android systems on old phones before the Market Helper App launches. But that old descriptions from a few years ago also do not help to fix my problem.
So I see no way to solve my problem, as it-specialist it makes me poor not finding a way to do what I want. So I hope you as absolutely experts can help me. Has anyone an idea what is to do to get the app on my phone?
Thanks and greets - spider2MW
I'm not sure how to get your phone download it from the phone's playstore, but if you want apks from apps that is in the playstore (free and not paid), you could go find them at websites that mirror the apk. Websites like apkpure dot com will do.
Here, I found the apk you needed, you could just download it. It's not modified, just a mirror. And it's the latest version, just the same as the one you'll get from playstore
(I can't post links I'm just a lurker and silent reader, so I insert spaces)
apkpure . com/ seat-connectapp/ com.seat.connectedcar.samsung
⊙︿⊙ Sorry, download failed, the APK does not support our device.
This is what I get when I try...
Of course there are many sites to download the newest version of the APK, but there is always another problem. Some sites go to an endless loop by preparing the download, other sides give me the wrong apk, and so on. I tried just about 20 or more links, but there is always another problem. So I would say an APK is not an opinion to solve my problem. Maybe a different handling of Market Helper or the build.prop helps, but I do not know how to do. Maybe someone of you?
Edit: Maybe someone of you can download the APK for me and send it to me on another way? Is that possible? Maybe the link works on your computer.

Samsung Galaxy Note II - How to play Pokemon Go

Hello every body,
Today, I want to play Pokemon Go on my smartphone but i can't play it because i can't install it.
I go to CHPlay and search Pokemon Go I see it but Google Play notification the game not availability this device.
Help me please, How to play Pokemon Go on Samsung Galaxy Note 2 ?
sideload the apk from apkmirror
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/nianti...lease/pokemon-go-0-35-0-android-apk-download/ Heres the link if you want..
just curious... can still sideload? i tried but it doesn't let me select any Google account. just tries to load and load. i did a permanent root and still the same. using ARHD ROM.
The model isn't the only problem. Pokemon Go doesn't run in Rooted devices. There is a way of hiding that you are root (rootCloack app through Xposed framework) to the app, but after that, the mobile phone model problem persist because the app knows the model of your phone

Note 10+ Disney plus not compatible?

So Disney plus launched today. I am on Verizon unlimited so I got a free 12 months. I went to install the app from the playstore and I got the 'Your device isn't compatible with this version' error. I'm on the latest ASJ8 build. Anyone else out there experience this? The only thing I can think of is maybe because I am on the beta google play services? I tried sideloading the apk also but it won't install. I can still go through the website so it isn't a huge deal right now but would like the app to work.
I found an apk that would sideload on my phone so got it installed anyways. Still don't know why its showing as not compatible in play store.
Yea same here cant download the app. Could be a mishap on their end. Doesnt surprise.
Interesting, it installed on mine
Installed on mine. Sprint Note 10+
I installed disney+ app from playstore.
T-Mobile
Installed from the playstore just fine for me as well (Verizon).

Same. Had no problem installing on mine. I've seen this all over the place today, though...not sure why it's not working for all of us unless it's a region thing.

The one I downloaded was from apkpure.com and downloaded whatever the latest version was at the time. I also had to download the pure apk installer on their website because their files are in .xapk format. Installed from there with no issues. You can uninstall the pure apk installer program after you are done.
My problem seems to have fixed itself as originally after I installed if I pulled up disney+ in the playstore it would still tell me it wasn't compatible. There error is gone now and the app updated through the playstore. So a glitch on disney or googles end seems like the culprit as I haven't changed anything else.
Hopefully the file from there will work for you if you haven't tried already.
I had the same problem on my S10+, but that was because I was on the OneUI 2.0 beta, which fails the SafetyNet check for DRM. Sideloading the APK from Apkpure worked like a charm, and then I ended up going to the Note 10+, which I had no issues installing from the Play Store on that device.
I can't download the file from apkpure. No result found
