Exactly, only plain old Vanilla voicemail shows up
Can't you install it from the play store?

Yea iknow about it but i want to use the Samsung VVM app. So i im trying to get into on how to make it happen ?
MetroPCS used to charge 5 bucks for that, is it free now? Possible all you need to do would be call them and have them push out a cfg file.
EDIT: I just realized that it's not showing on my phone. All I had to do was call Consumer Cellular and they enabled it on my phone. I was told that they enable it by customer request because many customers like myself just swap sims without calling in and they don't know if the customers phone supports it.
After doing some research it looks like the visual voicemail on the S9 has major problems. Many people are talking about this on the Samsung Forums. I downloaded the AT&T app and it works well though. I get a pop-up when a voicemail is available and it works seamlessly.

it's possible but about the cfg. i know thats the case with the iphone.
But to correcty you on the SIM, they marry sim to the IMEI so you have to call in order to swap.

You may have to call to swap on MetroPCS but I don't. I called and got it enabled but like all those folks in Samsung Forums, it's not available in my dialer but the AT&T app works perfectly.

I called metro and just told them it wasn't working. VVM. they didn't fix and actually after 10 minutes of being on hold the customer rep hung up on me
I used nova launcher to look at someone of the hidden/dormant apps and such so i know it exists. maybe this is something that would take some grunt work to unlock on our devices lol

I guess I'm lucky the app works because that is my only option. Apparently if you purchas an unlocked phone to bypass some of the carrier junk you also don't get some of the carrier features. Samsung has this to say about unlocked phones and visual voicemail in particular.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support.
We understand that you want to know why Visual Voicemail is not available in the phone. We will provide you with available information.
We are unable to speculate which model phone you are referring to.
If you are referring to latest Samsung US model unlocked version phones, the Visual Voicemail option will not available in the unlocked phones.
If carrier provides Visual Voicemail services for unlocked phones you can use them in the unlocked version phone.
As you are referring to AT&T carrier you cannot use the Visual Voicemail service in the phone as the AT&T will not provide Visual Voicemail for unlocked phones.
Carriers like Sprint and T-Mobile provide Visual Voicemail for the unlocked phones.
We cannot include Visual Voicemail feature in the phone.

It possibly should for you. Actually I'm glad I'm not forced to use Samsung's dialer. I like the Google dialer much better and since AT&T isn't going to let me have VV on the default dialer, I can use the AT&T app along with the dialer I like.
I have a Singapore variant of the tab S4 it makes and receives calls just fine over 3G but wont make them over LTE is VoLTE even possible on this? I travel the country and have ran into a few instances where I have LTE coverage but not 3G
It looks bad
Samsung has disabled VoLTE in every tablet that supports it, tab s3, s4, s6 and s7. It won't comment on this. I suggest contacting Samsung and asking for an update to address this issue. I understand there is a complex hack to accomplish this, but it involves editing a binary file.
If Samsung won't do it, maybe the carrier firmware can enable VoLTE?
AT&T says its Tab S4 variant will continue to work after their 3G shutdown.
Tab S4 (SM-T837A) is listed in their compatible devices:
https://www.att.com/idpassets/images/support/wireless/Devices-Working-on-ATT-Network.pdf
Maybe this means VoLTE is enabled for calling? Or they might mean it will keep working but only for data LTE.
There is no carrier tab s4 that will work for calls, and I don't think sms either! The carriers have a system in which you can have data/talk/text on a samsung Tab 3,4,5,6,7,8 if you also have a samsung phone.
Samsung also has a setting you can enable to make calls on your tablet if you also have a phone, if both devices are logged into your Samsung account. No security flaw there! Not sure if the phone must be Samsung too, but it would seem so!
I'm not going to say what I think about a manufacturer going out of its way to reverse a setting, intentionally crippling its flagship products, so customers need to purchase more stuff to obtain the expected functionality!
I did write to the CEO of Samsung Electronics, Co., Ltd.. I asked for a firmware update to enable VoLTE in the Tab S series beginning with the S3.
Earlier Tab S don't have compatible hardware. If you clear your browser data, so no one can tell you're a hacker, and google 'Samsung investor relations', you can find his name and address.
I'm not going to dox him here. But if anyone wants to write him, please be very civil, clean, upright, and simply ask for an update, followed by, "I only ask for Samsung to live up to its reputation! I think my request is more than reasonable! Thank you for taking your valuable time to read my message. Best Regards, name"
Don't use spinglish--words and phrases that mean one thing implied to mean something else. And example in reverse is when Dell dubbed one of its laptops exploding into flames, 'a thermal event'!
Just be direct, brief, polite and honest.
Samsung chat says:
Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Care. I’m D-- ....
... It will be updated in coming update. You will receive a notification on your tablet once it got updated.
8:36 PM When do you think the update will be?
8:37 PM Profile SEA Digital Messaging We don't have the exact information. Hope it will update will release in couple of weeks.
8:38 PM This is due to the 3G shutdown? That will work then, with the update I'll be able to download a phone app from the app store?
Thank you
8:38 PM Profile SEA Digital Messaging It is not about the 3G shutdown, the feature is not available on the tablet. Carrier have not permitted to use this feature on Samsung tablet. You can use caling feature on third party applications like WhatsApp ETC.
8:41 PM ok yes. Then I will wait for the update. Is this official it will be updated?
the tablet will be updated to download a phone app?
8:42 PM Profile SEA Digital Messaging Yes it will be official once the Update released you will get notification on your screen.
Once you get the Update it will update automatically to make the calls.

So maybe it'll be soon I'm hoping to use VoLTE for my tablet soon. Otherwise Singapore firmware might allow VoLTE calls currently? Why is that? I can't download or install or side-load any phone app currently.
edit update: I flashed to t-mobile using odin and that lets me send and receive texts just fine using messenger app. I use tello so I can place outbound calls over wifi too, so I can just use google voice for any other phone call inbound. I've heard other versions outside usa might be able to place calls though?? Suppose we'll get an update here soon anyway hopefully.

There will be convoluted ways to get data/talk/text on the Tab S models without adding VoLTE compatibility.

Like calling on other devices, if both a phone and tablet are logged in to your Samsung account, you can use your tablet for Data/talk/txt, because it's actually using the phone.
I had the option when using my unlocked Note 10+ to call and text from my Tab S6. However when moving to the Galaxy FOLD, I no longer see that option available under the advanced features in the settings menu. lNot sure if it matters, but I have the AT&T FOLD variant. Any ideas?

AT&T adds (lots of stuff) and takes stuff out. Samsung call and messaging continuity competes with NumberSync which is why it's not on AT&T's Fold. Neither is Hiya's caller ID or spam protection. I have an AT&T Fold and the first thing I did was flash the unlocked Samsung U1 s/w on it. It's not that hard and there's a thread on it in this forum with the files to download.
Hey guys. I'm on Verizon and currently am on my Essential Phone and just bought a 7T and was wondering how to go about switching it. Back when the 6T came out I know you had to call Verizon and tell them to switch it to a CDMA-less device and do some other things but wasn't sure if it got a little more streamlined with the 7T. I did read one article from a website that just says I need to switch the SIM and then go into My Verizon, log in and activate. Is that accurate? Anyone with experience in this? Thanks in advance.
I've switched 3 lines to OP 7Ts. All that I did was log into my Verizon, find the switch device option, type in IMEI and it automatically added CDMA less, advanced calling....and I just followed the directions given in the screen....all 3 work great!

Thanks! That's all I needed to know!
I ran into my own slew of issues getting my phone activated on verzion (t-mobile oneplus 7t, already carrier unlocked).
Here's my experience.
I went into the verizon store and they could not activate my phone based on its IMEI. That said, they took the sim from my pixel and popped it in and phone calls worked no issue. I could also send text, but could not receive them.
It took a few calls, but I eventually had to get to tier 2 tech support where they manually had to key in my device info so it could be activated on Verizon (wasn't in their device database). It was showing up as unknown device before then in their system and in the my verizon app. They said it would take 24-48 hours before it would be in the data base. About 24 hours later, I checked the My Verizon app and found it was now listed as a OnePlus 7T UNL and showed the device image.
After doing that, I had to call into support again and ask them to add Feature #83856 be added to the line (I had done this before on two other calls by requesting CDMA-Less be added, that didn't work as the techs had no clue what I was talking about and wanted to pawn me off onto One Plus support). Just ask for the feature number as they can look it up and add it to your line fairly easily. The moment they added that feature to my account, my texts started pouring in.
Hope this is helpful if you run into any similar issues that I did. I love this phone so far, hopefully they will streamline this setup in the future as I made multiple trips to verizon and called into support at least a dozen times before figuring out the best way to approach this. Expect tier 1 support to have no idea what you actually need 90% of the time and keep pushing for a T2 escalation if your device shows up as unknown in their system.
I've also read that if the device shows up in the system and you're having issues, getting a new sim may correct without having to worry about having features added/removed from the line as it should auto provision the features (according to T2 tech) when activating a new sim on a 1+ phone that is already in their system.

Coverage has been great, I haven't run into any issues honestly vs having a cdma compatible phone previously (pixel 3 xl). Data speeds have been just as good. I did flash my firmware to the international version to get quicker updates and remove the T-mobile apps and tweaks.
One thing I didn't tell them the whole time I was adding my phone to their system was that this was a T-Mobile OnePlus 7t. I just told them it was an unlocked OnePlus 7t I purchased online. This was before I flashed the international software, so nothing on their end flags you as having the T-Mobile version unless you tell them. Not sure if they would deny you or use that as a reason to send you on the way otherwise.

Do you think this is still possible. I bought a hd1907 T-Mobile and it's on way, had the store give me the IMEI so I could activate before it got here. Website says incompatible. Messaged them and they said the same thing. Should I just wait and put in my sim then go from there?
So is it possible to use Verizon on the HD1905 dual sim phone just the same as the T mobile model? I actually switched 2 of my lines to AT&T just to be able to own this phone. No texting was the deal breaker for me.
BTW, is anyone getting wifi calling with verizon?

VZW allows wifi calling on Verizon branded 8's, but won't activate wifi calling on the 7 series. The claim is that the 7's could be a network security hazard because they never went through Verizon's testing.
This is Verizon's decision, not OP's.

Thanks, but I would not want an unlock-able VZW branded phone. But thanks for the info. :highfive:
I don't even have Visual Voicemail on my HD1900. I will be switching to the Pixel 5 or the S21 because this and the no wifi calling.
I made the wifi calling sacrifice for a dual sim phone. OTOH, I can always use Google voice for wifi calling if needed.

* Previous iphone users cant SMS me (even with proper deregistration/new convos)
* Messages app cant insert pictures from Google Photos library
* Message app inserts weirdly formatted images sometimes, like converting a jpg to an mpeg4 which cant be opened

I guess most nonVZW phones cant do RCS, exept for the pixel, AFAIK.

Maybe you have a setting or permission problem.

Hello Everyone, I hope this is not a noob question...
I bought an unlocked Samsung Note 10+ SM-N975U1 directly from Samsung... Long story short - Samsung said it could record calls, then after my return window expired and several calls with Samsung Techs, they finally admitted that this "feature is locked" and I'm stuck with this $#!T.
I have tried several different call recording apps, and none work.
So my question is, Can someone tell me how to enable call recording on this phone? or direct me to link with the answer...
I really appreciate any help.
I have been looking for answers with no luck

I am going to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau against Samsung, because they mislead me to be believe that this phone did and had the ability to record calls. They kept saying that it should be fixed in the next software update 2 or 3 times, then after my return window expired, they said this feature is disable and there is no fix. At the same time, they said that the you cannot return this phone. This is fraud and deceptive business practices.
I bought an unlocked phone directly from samsung to avoid having rooting issues and all the carrier bloatware... instead i get this ****.

I know some people have found success using the new Google dialer app, which has call recording baked in. I haven't tested myself, but it may warrant further research if it is truly possible.
