Am I the only person that can't stop installing apps, in the expectation that one day my life will depend on using each and every one of them
I'd like to know how many apps people have installed on their GN's, hopefully to make me feel better about bloating mine.
Here are my current stats (from Titanium Backup).
User Apps - 203
System Apps - 84
Total Apps - 287
One of us has a problem then...
I've got about 25 that I've installed. Plus original apps of which I've disabled about 3.
29 user apps here. Since i'm a flash addict, i keep the number of apps low because i tend to make clean installs after flashing instead of data restore. Few apps = few things to restore
And to be honest, i don't miss any apps right now. The bare minimum I'd need would be a file manager, dropbox, titanium backup, xda and whatsapp and of course superuser
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
I have downloaded 65 apps so far and increasing every day!!
In total I have like 80 apps. You are crazy. I have it last friday. How long have you been with the GN to be able to download so much ??
Google+ takes up 85.78MB of storage on my Galaxy Nexus. The app size is 20.39MB and USB storage data is 63.34MB. Why does it take up so much room?! On my Nexus One it only took up over 20MB. What is USB storage data?
I am not into flashing ROMs right now... Once CM9 is available that is going to change...
I have about 35 apps installed... including the "obvious" stuff, ROM Manager, ADW Ex, Titanium, Root Explorer...
71 installed, even some of these are stuff I could live without. No root or from manager apps, I don't really see the need at this point.

This is a new Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4. I rooted it and I'm running Google Now Launcher (supposedly the lightest one). I uninstalled or disabled a lot of apps, starting with Samsung bloatware.
According to CCleaner:
- 1.43GB of 11.76GB of memory used
- 1.2GB of 1.82GB of RAM used
CCleaner says:
- Processes: User: 0 processes, System: 53 processes
Is this normal? Is there any good info on which of the system processes I could disable?
The biggest system processes:
- com.android.keyguard 130MB
- security storage 78MB
- Google Play services 67MB
- Google App 56MB
- Chrome 51MB
- Settings 46MB
- Samsung Keyboard 28MB
- Samsung WatchON 24MB
- Hangouts 24MB
- Search Applications Provider 22MB
- Internet 21MB
- Youtube 22MB
- Google Play Music 20MB
- Google Play Store 19MB
- Google Contacts Sync 19MB
- Flipboard 17MB
- Gmail 15MB
- Google Play Newstand 14MB
- Gallery 14MB
95% of the time, the tablet will be used with DJI Pilot App. I just need this 1 app and access to some internet and app store functions...
Can I disable a lot of the services listed? What is "com.android.keyguard" and "security storage" and "Samsung WatchON"? That would free up 220MB alone.
Any other suggestions to clean up and optimize Tab Pro would be greatly appreciated.
It isn't a PC. Having RAM free does not necessarily (and probably will not) increase performance.
Android manages RAM pretty efficiently. It will clear RAM when it needs it.
If you're so into this free RAM thingy, just disable ALL the Google stuff (because you said you don't use them).
Even more, dive into the world of ROMs and flash CM12.1. With CM I have 1.2GB *free* on startup and >1GB free for everything I do except gaming. TabPRO's 2K screen takes quite some additional resources, or else you'll even be getting 1.4GB free, like what I've seen on my other devices.

Efficient or not, I'm still left with a tablet that is performing poorly when it tries to run DJI Pilot App.
I disabled animations and uninstalled what I could and I only run the DJI App with Airplane Mode because any notifications create lag - and it makes a big difference. But it's still not that good, and I'm looking for other areas of improvement. If not RAM, then where else do you think I should focus?
CM12.1 as AndyYan suggests?
I just need to run this one App and I need to run it well...

Yes, I would agree with the suggestion. The stock TouchWiz is a laggy piece of crap. It drove me crazy how laggy it was with just normal usage (launcher, browsing, etc.) and CM12.1 is much much better.
You could try to disable Sasmsung's DVFS. (by rooting, installing xposed and Sasmung DVFS disabler from the Play Store "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ma.wanam.dvfs&hl=nl".
Don't know if it will improve things but it seems like Samsung somehow limits CPU & GPU after heavy load.
Don't know if it has any negative effects. Maybe some battery life impact.

Folks have stated that disabling Magazine UX and using a different launcher also help with the lag.
Honestly, though, unless you are a fan of the Samsung features; CM12.1 not only puts you on Lollipop, but just a better experience overall.
You're busy and don't have time to wait, which is why you need to stop reading this thread and get back to organizing your Pogs. Rate this thread to express how the Honor 8 performs when multitasking. A higher rating indicates that the Honor 8 keeps many apps in memory so that they don't need to reload, and that when moving between apps, transitions are smooth and performance is excellent.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The Honor 8 I am using has 4 GB of ram. I tend to open as many apps as I need without closing any apps, and the lowest free memory left when I was using is still more than 1.5 GB. The ram management is really great and everything is smooth.
With 4GB, you cannot ask for more. Muktitasking, gaming, you name it. Honor 8 can handle them all. Simultaneously.
very fluid between apps

I like the multitasking and there is always a lot of ram free so that you can really do multitasking...
But the other thing of multitasking is lots of apps running it drains a bit more the battery..
the phone is smooth, but i wouldnt say that the multitasking is flawless;
if you have too many apps opened and stored in ram (like 5+ or so; such as fb, messenger, email, youtube, instagram, ...), it will cause restart of the app once you e. g. lock the phone, unlock it and try to launch the app you have already opened and stored in ram .. even if it shows you have 1,5 gb free ram
i dont see whats the point in high ram in phones (3-6 gb) when even with that much ram the phone isnt able to hold them "opened" in ram all and the apps "reopen" when you try to recall/launch them ..
but the "reopening" or "relaunching" apps is very fast, of course .. so the experience with the phone altogether is great, but its not like that with 1,5gb free ram left theres no restarting apps .. there still is, which bugs me

The reloading is by design from the battery management app. If you're using MM and EMUI 4.1, then you can make sure that an app is *NOT* closed when the screen is off. I don't know how Huawei decides which to keep on and which to keep off when the screen is off, but you can force to keep the app running in the background when the screen is off. To do so:
1. Go to Settings > Advanced settings > Battery manager
2. Go to Protected apps (Protected = Keep running in back when screen is off)
3. Flip each app that you want Protected to be on
4. Now, all the apps that are Protected will continue to run (suspended in memory) even if the screen is off
BTW this was the reason why my Reddit app Relay Pro keeps reloading after the screen is off. Once I had it protected, it now resumes exactly where I left off. I keep most things NOT Protected except for communication apps, browser, and the reddit apps.

no, it's not that. the screen doesnt have to be turned off in the meantime for the issue to occur. it happens even if i switch between apps; i turn on fb, messenger, insta, youtube, chrome (simply the "heavier" apps), and then work in one and try to switch to another -> and sometimes it starts to reload/reopen the app (the heavier the app, the more likely it happens) .. so turning display on/off isnt the only time it happens ..
which bugs me a lot is Runkeeper app.. i rebooted the phone, cleared apps in RAM so the only app running was Runkeeper .. went cycling and after some time (i dont know, maybe 1-2 hours) i stopped, took the phone out of pocket, turned the display on, clicked on runkeeper and violá -> it starts to reopen/reload and once it reopens my existing workout and tracked route was gone .. and yes i had Runkeeper selected in protected apps .. all of that with ~2.2 gb of ram free
With 4gb of ram, I can't complain. It feels like living in a large room with minimal furnitures.

No. Large room with minimal furnitures. You can still add more furnitures but the room will still have more space.
as we say for ROMs, buttery smooth
multitasking on this phone is smooth kirin+4gig ram does a job well
had no problem in multitasking
No lags while task switching.
Does any body have Advance experience of debloating Apps in A705F/Ds! Any one can point me to help !

I do not much see any different in 1 week after Enable /Disable system/user apps in my device(8/128) gb operating with CCSWE App Manager Pro.
Still High 3gb Ram Usage per system vs apps in system start up!
I've just daily usage as (Fb, Messenger,What' App, Chrome, IDM, PUBg,Asphalt-9). Hell_No. !!
#No_Root #Smoothness_Ui_Experience #
RAM is there to be used! No need to free it, what's the point of it? The more apps are loaded in RAM, the faster they start. You have 6 GB of RAM, and only 3 GB in use, that is good
This is an interesting article about how memory works on Android: https://www.androidtipsandhacks.com...ndroid-and-why-you-shouldnt-most-of-the-time/
Bloatware or unwanted software can be removed, disabled or, when rooted, removed. But that has little to do with RAM. Disabling apps won't appear in app drawer, and removing them will free (a little) storage space.
Yeah,As a result of Disabling total 156/336 apps is almost same result as while it' not . Still got laggy in while scolling in Fb, Asphalt 9 . For 8gb Ram devices ' is it alittle way too much?Nothing Different !
CCSWE App manager is too strong but it can't help me out in no root state.

Disable animations in developers settings.
Reduce motion in settings
Install greenify and use it in non root mode.
We have sd675 and it will have its limits.
As for Facebook lag, disable video autoplay and clear cache
I followed the Galaxy S10/9 guides on disabling via ADB to get rid of things like Bixby and other Samsung bloatware. Never had an issue with RAM but I like the idea of fewer icons in the app drawer, fewer notifications and fewer apps with potential to run in the background or eat up my data allowance for no reason. I have to say that this method along with using AdGuard DNS has pretty much done away with my usual desire to root.
Welcome to my mini-guide for battery. I am not responsible for any damage to your device.
For friends who just bought the phone, I wanted to share with you my own disabled and uninstalled apps and how I increased my screen time from 1 to 2 hours.
First, turn off any features you don't use. You can read this post:

Of course I'm not closing them all. (like double touch)
Second, download AppControl:

It's a simple application for disable system apps.
Third, download my presets. Open AppControl on your PC and USB Debugging on your phone.
Load Preset - Uninstalled.txt - Choose Uninstall - Apply
You may check the choosen apps, maybe you use it in. (Facebook etc.)
It will ask you about app backup, accept it.
Load Preset again - Disabled.txt - Choose Disable - Apply
You may check the choosen apps, maybe you use it in. (AR Emoji etc.)
For low temperature(%10-15 slower CPU):
Go to Console in AppControl and paste this command:
adb shell settings put global sem_low_heat_mode 1
Congratulations!
IF you want to use adaptive 120hz (I'm using it), you can check this thread:
