Hi all,
after I had a full crash while I was trying to update 4.0.0 -> 4.0.1 I now installed all from the scratch.
I now try to get root for it. I installed TWRP (twrp-3.0.2-1.28-oneplus3.img) ... opening it it asks me to bring in a PIN. every PIN I enter is wrong. If I choose cancel I am in. But System is accessable.
Anybody can post a real HowTo for getting root (SuperSU) in OxygenOS 4.0.1
Thanks in advance
After you flash the rom, flash SuperSU immediately. Then reboot to recovery, NOT to system.
If the phone stuck, force reboot by pressing power& vol.- . Reflash recovery, reboot to recovery, reboot to system.

@all: does anybody have the Stock Recovery .img for "OxygenOS 4.0.1"?
I always get this "the dm-verfiy ..." message. And after booting I have to type in the unlock PIN ... booting again ... ready to use. I think is is because TWRP
How did you do?

can you explain me what the purpose of rebooting into recovery after flashing supersu and not to system?
On some roms, you have to instal SuperSu, before first boot. Or you will not have root.
Some rooms will mess up recovery if youre first boot it's in system & not to recovery. You reboot, to recovery, first, to be shure that you have a working recovery.
This is how I did: upgraded to OOS 4.0.1, flashed the latest TWRP (3.0.3-0), copy & paste SuperSU to internal storage then flashed it through TWRP. Everything works fine.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to decrypt this phone because OOS 4.0.1 converts the Data partition file system to F2FS. I'm a heavy user of MultiROM, that's the reason for decrypting.
as i install magisk and twrp on my mi a2 lite, i already unlocked the bootloader, but i can't install it

image format?
you have to flash Magisk via twrp custom recovery. Download the latest Magisk . zip file from the official site , then flash it with twrp recovery. When you reboot to system install the Magisk manager app, you can download it again from the official Magisk site
I thought the normal Magisk install process was not done via TWRP?

That's the only way I've ever installed Magisk on this phone. You need to install it after TWRP (or re-install) because the TWRP installer removes Magisk from the boot image.

Of course you can install magisk via twrp absolutely normal, and it's way easier ,and faster without bugs ,with cts profile: true and etc.
Hi everyone.
I had a issue and i really want help
I had unlock the OEM,and after installing the twrp and format data (to remove the forced encrypt), i had flash the Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt zip file.
Okay, after that i have restarted the device and configure as my away to use, after that, booted on recovery again and flashed the magisk.
But i wanna encrypt my device, and when i go to configs->security and encrypt area, says that my device its not encrypted. Okay, i followed the steps and when i gonna try to encrypt the device, the process start and... some seconds after, the phone just restart and nothing has done.
The onlys changes that i have made on system is: root and flashed a splash.img(without that stupid warning of unlocked bootloader)
I really want to encrypt my device, so, if i get stolen, the thief wont get my user data.
Can anyone help me?
Flash the stock rom and and don't flash the encryption disabler next time. You don't need to install TWRP to flash Magisk either, you can just boot it and then flash Magisk. Also you don't even need TWRP, you can just follow the guide in the forum to install Magisk by booting the magisk patched boot.img for your version of the stock ROM and then install Magisk manually via Magisk Manager.
TL;DR : Flash stock ROM and do the same things except flashing dm-verity-disabler, you don't need that for Magisk or TWRP.

Sir, i really need twrp now, its there any way i can enable encrypt after rooting the device? (to sure that, if gets stolen, the data need to be wipped out or the password must be given on twrp)
Same issue, i tried to encrypt on security menu, reboot and nothing was done.

Better, without TWRP, i can flash other zips via magisk/stock recovery?

I'm not sure what you're trying to do here, do you want to have TWRP + stock encryption?
If so you can just boot TWRP and flash the TWRP installer package (.zip) inside TWRP to do that. And you don't need to change anything, currently I have TWRP installed and encryption enabled on my Stock ROM.
But if you're trying to get TWRP's own encryption, sadly that doesn't work.
You can also use TWRP without flashing/installing it, just go to the directory TWRP is stored in, open a command line, connect your phone and boot it with this command :
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
then flash whatever you'd like.
DO NOT lock your bootloader after you flash something on TWRP, this will most probably brick the device.

I want to stick with the stock rom rooted, with the twrp installed and the user data encrypted
So i can flash things through TWRP even i have encrypt enabled?
@edit
dont worry about bootloader, i will keep unlocked
It's perfectly fine to have TWRP and/or Magisk and encryption using stock ROM.
Flash stock ROM (erase user data)
Install TWRP
install Magisk
Don't flash the encryption Disabler. As its name implies, it disables the automatic encryption of the userdata partition.

I have OnePlus7T Indian version. I was on 11.0.9.1 and rooted with Magisk Canary version. There was an Update to Magisk which I accidentally installed with OTA option instead of full. Now my phone is not booting. It goes into original recovery mode or fastboot only. How can I recover from this? I tried to flash the magisk patched image file and it shows as flashed but when I reboot I again reach original recovery / fastboot menu only. Please help!!
Problem solved but don't know how. I was trying many things and when I used Tool All in One to flash TWRP the phone rebooted into the system. Not even sure if TWRP is installed or not but everything is working now and phone is rooted. Not sure how it got resolved. Magisk is updated to latest version.

Hi. I am again having same problem. I updated Magisk Manager and Magisk and some other apps and phone was not booting. After many tries it again booted but all the modules in Magisk were off. So I switched them on and rebooted the phone and now it is just not booting. I tried to use Tool All In One to flash a TWRP but now there is no recovery. The phone is either not booting (stuck on Circle dot rotating) or just going into fastboot, does not go into recovery. I was on OOS11. I tried flashing original recovery through the tool but it fails. Any way out of this mess??

Thanks. I managed to boot the phone but having root problems. After spending a number of hours doing various trials and checking Xda threads I managed to get it to boot again but root was lost.
I again read more articles and learnt that I have to flash recovery to both partitions so I used Tool All in one, changed active slots and flashed the magisk patched image from this thread i think on both slots. But i am not sure. I managed to get root but the Magisk manager was not getting installed.
I tried few other things and finally i am now not able to root again. Phone is booting after I flash a recovery but I am not sure if it will boot if restarted or go into loop.
Can anyone explain the proper procedure and sequence to follow for rooting and which files to use.
I am on OOS11.09.1

Hi. I already used these boot images but I was still having a problem. I had flashed the stock image to both partitions and then the Magisk patched image also but either I was not rooted or Magisk App not working. Finally got things to work by installing TWRP to partition a I believe. I changed active partition to a and then flashed the twrp recovery. Again changed active to b and booted and had root. I had to install Magisk Canary 25210 version only as other versions did not install. After checking on net it seems this version is faulty. So I installed Magisk Delta, then installed Magisk using Direct Install option, rebooted, checked regular Magisk Manager and showed the same Magisk version. Removed all modules from old Magisk Manager and unstalled the app. Setup Magisk Delta modules, hide, SuList as well as apps like LSPosed, HMA etc and now everything is working again.
I still am not very sure where the recovery is installed, on partition a or b? And if a difference recovery is installed on each partition what happens? I am pretty sure I had not installed TWRP on partition b. I am also assuming that once I set a partition as active and flash a recovery in fastboot that recovery is flashed to that partition, is this correct? Things are working but I don't know if the phone will go to recovery mode from system, I have not tried that. So I am not very clear yet but still got things to work.

I successfully unlocked my bootloader, then I tried flashing the twrp by following munchy's tutorial from YouTube (as someone recommended here). I also used the twrp recovery file he provided in the description, by using the latest platform tools from the official website. It was going pretty good. I even got the TeamWin logo, and also loaded up the twrp interface, and was able to navigate through it. But the problem was my internal storage wasn't showing up. So I booted back to my system normally to see If I can find a solution. Then I think I tried again after restarting to see if it fixes itself, but the same problem was persisting. The next time when I tried again, I used the latest twrp version which I downloaded from the official twrp website.
But since my 3rd attempt, I am not able to see any TeamWin recovery come up on my phone, when I connect I do the "fastboot boot (twrp filename)" command in cmd. When I do the command, nothing shows up. The device remains in the Fastboot mode, or just turns off. When I switch it back on, It turns on normally and boots into the phone without any issues, and I can use it. I've tried switching back to the original twrp version munchy used in the above linked video, but same result.
What did I do wrong here? How do I make my phone get into the twrp recovery when I enter the fastboot boot (twrp filename) command thru my PC? How do I make my Internal Storage available to view int he TWRP recovery so I can install it from my Downloads folder? I am on MIUI 14.0.4 If that helps. My end goal is to install Magisk.
Any tips/guides/suggestions are appreciated.
Installing TWRP and root does not erase your data.
Remove security from the lock screen. (decryption).Normally the latest TWRP decrypts the data.
Install Platform tools ,put the TWRP in the folder and run the commands from the folder.
TWRP SKK, Use A12 if your system is in A12/A13 if system A13.
Rename it to twrp.img
CMD
fastboot boot twrp.img
Powershell
./fastboot boot twrp.img
Once booted, go to Advanced -> Press "Flash current TWRP"
If offered, both slots.

Thank you. I had put backed the screen lock after the first 2 attempts because someone said to to that on a YT video after they faced the same problem. Now I tried again by removing the screen lock and the latest twrp for my device also boots up just fine. Now the problem Is I still can't access my internal storage .
Still having removed the screen security?
Which rom(fullname)?
Which TWRP?
Try to mount storage.

Yes, I removed the screen security, though I can enter TWRP, I can't read the internal storage. MIUI 14.0.4.
I just watched a YT video where the dude does the following:
-TWRP Recovery
- Wipe
- Format Data
- Types 'yes'
then
-TWRP Recovery
- Reboot
- Recovery
- Do not Install
After coming back to recovery after rebooting, he gets a pop up, which at the swipe says "Swipe to allow for modifications" which he swipes, then now after checking the Internal Storage, It's readable now. Is this a possible solution?
Twrp A13, obviously if you don't want to keep the data.
Twrp/wipe format data type yes/reboot TWRP.
If error red lines, reboot TWRP and repeat the operation.
Sideload roms or use OTG.

what's twrp A13? Also, I just unlocked my bootloader a few hours ago, so my phone has already done a factory reset and i don't have anything to lose except the Magisk APK and .img file in my phone.
But I have a question, will doing the format data just do a factory reset, or will I lose my ROM? Because I'm not trying to install a custom ROM, I just want to Install Magisk as the end goal with my current ROM.
MIUI 14 Android 13 so use this TWRP

Just asking my prev question, will doing the format data from TWRP just do a factory reset, or do I lose the ROM and will have to install a custom ROM?
second question I forgot to ask in my prev post, after i do the format data and put the Magisk APK and twrp img file again on my device, will my device stay decrypted as I formatted the data, or will the problem persist?
sorry If i sound dumb

thank you, this is the one I was looking for. Sorry to bother you again, now I installed the Magisk V26.1 apk from TWRP. And when I boot back to system and try opening the magisk manager, this happens. It says downloading, forever. I think I shouldn't have directly downloaded the latest version. So probably have to downgrade it a bit. For that, what will I have to do?
Can I just hold the Magisk icon, and uninstall it simply like any other app? Or do I have to do it from the TWRP? Also, Is it necessary for me to uninstall it before downgrading, or can I just download the apk of older magisk version and flash it from twrp just like I did previously?
It was on my first post.

Hm ok.
Welp for me on AOSP, it works nicely. I flash a new build (or two) every week. Backup/Restore works as should. UI is nice and modern, imo better than TWRP. That's why I'm recommending it.

Hi,
@NOSS8 , I'd like to ask : I've only some hours to wait to unlock the BL. But one question, as it's yet the stock rom (FW V13.0.11.0, A12), wich twrp should I use ? I want to install a A13 rom (that supposes FW V 14.xxx !)
So :
- fastboot boot twrp (but wich one ?? A12 or 13 ?? ; skkk ? Or ?) (+ "flash current twrp" OR "install it in ramdisk"?)
- reboot recovery
- flash FW V14.xxx
- flash rom
- format data
- reboot system
- flash magisk (last version ? Seems to be 'big' changes ?)
- flash what I need (V4A, DFE (??), ....)
What do you think ?
Thanks a lot ! Main question is about what version of twrp.. Help will be very appreciated !

Instead, use Miflash with a Fastboot rom, you can extract the boot img for root.(don't re lock the bootloader).
You can root without TWRP, but according to this thread, if you root you lose the TWRP and vice versa, I don't know if this is still relevant.(I don't have this device).

You can root without TWRP, but according to this thread, if you root you lose the TWRP and vice versa, I don't know if this is still relevant.(I don't have this device).

I'm very greatfull for your quick reply ! Thanks
The device is too a Poco f3, sorry.. This doesn't need to flash magisk for twrp to stick (I had another one I've broken)
But I don't understand what's the advantage to first flash a fastboot rom..? As you say to flash twrp would loose root and vice versa... (I've read the thread you're talking about ofox)
So I wanted to go trough +- the way I mentionned, as A13 as well as ofox 'seems' to work (but I'm carefull with that twrp on stock MIUI A12, and I never used ofox..)
So you do think it's a bad idea ?? The rom I want to flash is crdroid.
I'm more lost now ...
Thanks again !
