I've been using this kernel for a very long time, but from update to miui11 when i'm using this kernel, i'm having trouble with ram management. After few days of usage free ram drops from 2gb to 1gb (i have 4gb in my phone) even when i clear everything in background and when it drops below 1gb phone starts lagging af

They do mentioned about the ram already 25% less ram will be available than stock kernel, I'm using this kernel from long time. No such issues faced yet.

Roughly 600-700
The amount stated is when using stock launcher ?
Is the 2GB version sufficient for average day to day use ? (no gaming or heavy storage consuming apps)
Is there any truth in the rumor I've heard that G3 with 32GB has more issues than the 16GB version ?

Why not? I have the 2GB and is working just fine.
How much free RAM you think you will get with the 3GB? I bet you may be surprised...

Using Nova Launcher with a few apps open in the background (Facebook, Chrome, etc) I have about 900MB free, when closed I usually hover on 1.2-1.4GB free. I have a program to clear my RAM every half hour, so it doesn't much matter the amount of RAM I have. But yeah. that's how much I have free, I'd presume you'd have around the same using the stock launcher.

So can you please provide the amount of free RAM you have when the phone is just turned on ? Are you using stock launcher or other ?

Sure... I get around 900mb free RAM and I'm using Nova Launcher with latest Cloudy ROM (which is awesome by the way)

Sorry to jump in but I have a 2GB and am running CyanogenMod 12, stock CyanogenMod kernel, have 38 apps installed, have no RAM Manager app and have, running 3 or 4 apps and Nova also, circa 850 MB spare!
I am super happy with its performance and sometimes I think why would I need a 3GB one when this one performs so well.
Mind you that I am no gamer and perhaps if I was I would then consider it but that is not the case with this users pretensions.
Personally, going back to the OP's question, mate if you are no gamer the 2GB is more than enough.
What do you want to do?
Walk around the mall with 1.5GB of free RAM inside your pocket? ?
Enjoy!
Last two responders say there is plenty of spare RAM but both not using stock ROM. I am not planning to change ROMs so would like to know the free RAM amount with stock.

Exactly.
When i wrote my first post i was not talking about any additional tweaks, custom ROMs/Kernels , i was talking about the "out of the box" experience. LG's skin is heavy (as are most OEM skins). You might be able to multitask between 2-3 apps (without reloading).
If you decide to flash an AOSP ROM, say goodbye to camera quality, and welcome to various bugs and instabilities here and there.
Furthermore, Lollipop is memory hungry, and "system apps" fill up to 1GB in a few days of uptime (it happens on many phones, i used to have this issue on my nexus 5 too).
I own a 3GB/32GB G3, after a reboot, free RAM is somewhere at 1.7/1.8GB , after 2 days it's down to 1GB, and system apps are up by that amount. According to a leaked changelog, The next Lollipop update (due late Feb.) should include "better RAM management". Will it help and solve this issue, no one knows, it's only a leak for now and nothing is confirmed until it officially releases.
Would it help to root the stock rom and disable unwanted bloatware apps to reclaim some RAM amount ?

it would help. Also kicking Google's apps from /system to /data (install from playstore) and greenify some of them should help.
but do you really want to invest in a device where you need all that work done. Also, keep in mind that there is no root method for Lollipop on G3, you have to downgrade to kitkat then flash a custom Lollipop ROM.
No, I'm really not into tweaking the phone and just want stable performance out of the box.
Is the 5.0 stock ROM stable and has no issues at all ?

From my experience with my device stock 5.0 is stable and i haven't had any major problems with it. Would like if the RAM management was a bit better though. Battery life is also great.
On a side note, there is no OS that has no issues at all.
I am aware that most stock roms are not perfect, but read many posts where people were saying the G3 is less stable than G2.
That is why I am being careful.

Doubt it, stock rom is full of bloatware, you're looking at a few hundred mb's free
Is all the bloatware active and running in the background all the time ?
It's the same question like:
which is better: 1 camel or 2 camels ?
Of course, it is better to have 2 camels , they just eat more ...
Previos time I used Redmi Note 4 (Mido). That phone are 3gb varient. That phone in i flashed epicMiui custom rom. That rom are used my ram storage only few 1gb/1.3gb Ram. That rom are my best choose for that issue. All time ram storage 1.4gb are always free. That phone camera are just osame:good:
But,
Now I am used Redmi note 5. There I tested many custom rom. All the custom ROM are most ram storage drained. Like there are free ram storage are only 700mb to 900mb.
So,
I need A miui based rom.
That are i am used daily draivers. That are mostly free my ram 1.4 to 1.5gb. Sugeested me please...
Nb: sorry my bad english.
You don't need that much free RAM. Android is pretty good at managing memory by itself, and 4GB are plenty for a good experience.
Really, flash any ROM that suits your needs

But there is a catch. MIUI is very aggressive in killing background apps. At first I through that 3gb of ram is not enough and that's the reason why multitasking is so bad. The phone wasn't keeping even 3 apps in ram. Now when I'm using aosp based ROMs I no longer have such issues.

Thats not how android works. This is not microsoft windows. Android frees up ram whenever its needed. Miui based roms have more free ram because it has very aggressive background control, but that doesnt mean its good. You cant multitask because it just kills every background app.

+1 on this.
MIUI has such an aggressive memory management because killing apps in the background gives an impression of better battery life. This results in less RAM usage, which is great marketing towards people who don't know how Android works :/

I have same battery performance with Pixel Experience as i did with stock rom or masik. Only difference being, with PE i can actually multitask without constantly getting my apps closed in the background. That, and not having to worry about some notifications arriving late. Apart from these 2 things i actually quite like MIUI unlike most users here.
This is is rom. That are i Fond,
Always free 1.4/1.6 ram...it perfect for daily driver used.

Hi,
I'm stuck between Clean and Fulmics roms. Which do you think provides performance and battery consumption. My main question is; There are 3 kernels (Xceed, Solid, Gabriel). Which kernel should I use? I don't use anything other than web and whatsapp. I never play the game. Battery consumption and performance are very important to me. Thanks.
Xceed when I still use my G3 as daily driver is best for battery, and Clean comes with it. Fulmics + Xceed have some weird problem, so I suggest you go with Clean.

Thanks for the answer. Xceed kernel uses 3 core active. In other kernels, I don't know. Will the battery life be extended if I drop it to 2 cores?

Yes but it will cause lag for sure. You don't need to mess with Xceed, just let it do the job. Maybe doing some undervolt/current with Synapse.

Xceed 7n uses 3 cores, 5e kernel uses 2 cores. 5e I think I will see my work and do some testing. What are you using?
Annex: I also tried the gabriel kernel today. The GPU can run at least 27 mhz. The CPU can drop to 1 core. I think this kernel is very good. I will test this for a while.
- I did test. Xceed kernel is definitely better. (I'm using Xceed 7a)
I'm not satisfied with the performance, I using Aosp 5.8 right now.
hi guys so basically i started lagging on mobile legends when the game hit the 10th minute mark. does installng a custom kernel improve the gaming performance and fix the lag ? if yes do you guys have any suggested custom kernel ?

get the latest EUOC version corresponding to your android version, if you are on android 10 then there is no version for it yet, but you can test other kernels if it is the case

you can control the clock in kernel adiutor, I put mine underclocked on 1.8 to conserve battery
I am on the xFire rom which is based on the stock oneui and it's the most stable, fast and usable because everything it's working. But many times my applications get closed because there is not enough RAM and so I can't open many apps in the same time.
So I need a ROM which is light, with a lot of available RAM and with a good camera because I don't want renounce to stock camera quality.
You have 6gb of ram, correct?
What's using all the ram?
With Pie on my stock N10+ the OS is using 3.1gb, total nominal usage is about 5.2gb.

Hello, late answer, but S9 only 4 GB. The best solution would be to buy next models but I don't want spend now.
So I just see 3,1+ GB RAM average used without loading apps. When I execute some of them I get freezes and force close. So I just want know if with an Aosp rom I can get more free RAM compared to OneUi.
