How to relock bootloader for T-Mobile OnePlus 7T? - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

Hi,
I recently unlocked the bootloader for my T-Mobile OnePlus 7T and it is working fine but now I want to revert back to relocking the phone so I can get the new update 10.0.7 from T-Mobile installed on the phone. I haven't rooted my phone.
Everytime I try to install it keeps giving me the installation failed message. I tried to relock the bootloader with the commands I found online but then the phone gets stuck on the Magenta T-Mobile sign and don't boot up.
Can someone please help me resolve this issue?
Thanks

If I download the msm tool, where do I find the software update file for the current version of TMobile 7T which is 10.0.6.HD63CB?
Thanks

Restore it to TMobile factory and then you can update through the phone. No need to do anything manual.

Or, you can Sim Unlock and switch to International Firmware. This puts you on 10.0.8 although its only January Security patch.

As said below, you have to go back to 100pct stock with the msm tool.
Something about a bug in our hd1907 model that deletes an important file upon bootloader unlock that won't allow updates to complete anymore and there's no fix. In fact, Tmo is doing warranty exchanges cause it's a known issue, but we have the msm tool now ?

Just a little help please unlocking bootloader/Root TMOBILE Oneplus7T(Sim unlocked) without Oneplus code

Does anyone know a way to unlock the bootloader of Oneplus 7t without asking for an unlock code from T-mobile? I was able to get it network unlocked however never rooted it. Even on my oneplus 5t which I'm trying to root(got bootloader unlocked) I can't root because it says "waiting for device" when trying to flash the twrp.img file and that phone is a global variant. It seems like I'm having issues with both for "waiting for any device" through adb.

I unlocked bootloader using "tool all in one". I attached program. Can you show me where to go to for:

2. Rooting it
I backed up to One plus switch however after the bootloader got unlocked I can't restore a back up and now I'm hell bent to atleast convert to global rom 11/root lol.

So now I'm using 5t(has root...not caring about updating it...backup phone anyway) while trying to get 7t working again....I would like it to flash to global latest oxygen...but now I have to unbrick somehow. Operating system does not start OP 7T.

Hello, I have the following problem when you installed an OS and the cell phone is restarted for the first time and the circles appear (red and white) only last 4 seconds and then the cell goes off and it does not start the OS.
This same error happened to me by installing Pixel Experience 12, DerpFest and installing the Rom Stock (using MSM). I hope and can help me.
PD I can access the bootloader but I can not unlock it because of Android 11 to 10.

Hi, I tried that method but when you are sending the files an error appears (Device Not Match Image).
Regards.
What did you exactly did that system won't start?
Did you flashed wrong boot.img or something else?
Did you tried easiest method which is Hold Power+Vol Down for few second untill you feel 3x vibration and then release. Check this out.

Hello,
1.- I had pixel experience 12 installed and I used it without problems for 3 days until I installed YouTube vanced and it asked me to restart, when I was loading the "Google" logo the cell phone turned off (the same problem I have now). I reinstalled pixel experience but still got the same error.
Then I installed DerpFest and finally stock ROM via MSM and the same problem persists.
2.- I never installed any boot.img
3.- Doing power+vol down only loads the recovery stock Ver.2.0

I followed this guide , OTA'd to OOS 12 then local upgraded to NA C.62. I had to flash data retention fix via Magisk for data to work, and it seems to work flawlessly so far.
My question is how do I go about flashing a custom ROM such as Nameless? Would I have to flash normally then flash data retention fix again? Or will it work without it? And if I do want to return to OOS, would I have to follow the guide linked above again?
I tried the same way that you are taking now. I even tried the global roms instead of EU. I ended up with no sim or it worked but it would take 4 reboots for it to register in custom roms. I can't speak for all the roms but the ones I've tried I lost signal with the conversion. So i recommend you using the TMobile firmware. Upgrade to 11_C.18 and then flash the custom ROM. Oh your bootloader can be unlocked right? If so I'll show you the way to do it. So that you don't have to download all the updates every time you msm then update. I figured out a way to use the local update and the ota zips.

I don't have unlock.bin yet I'm still waiting for it is there a different way? Or will I simply have to wait for it. I've heard some have had luck with OnePlus' twitter support
You can unlock the bootloader after the conversion msm. You need the sim to be unlocked but there is a fix to enable oem unlock.
So if you want to unlock your bootloader, root your phone and try some custom roms. Let's do it.

Rooting is different than unlocking BL. Install twrp and flash magisk 25.2 apk using twrp, reboot into rom, install magisk 25.2 apk, turn on root in Magisk app. Then you'll be rooted

Yes. As I understand, if your bootloader is unlocked:
* You should be able to flash any 7t ROM. However, you can't relock bootloader on a custom ROM.
* If you flash official global Oneplus ROM, you can either leave your bootloader unlocked (and gain root access with magisk etc, but caviot is 'device is unsafe' display message on boot), or you can choose to re-lock the bootlader and make it like stock but without root.
To recap, you're King if you have an unlocked bootloader, plus you're phone is already sim-unlocked (can't unlock bootloader without sim unlock). Happy flashing and someone correct me kindly please if any of the above is wrong/misleading.

In my experience OnePlus 7T T-Mobile OxygenOS 10.0.3.zip works.
Once you've reset your phone Android 10, you can now do the T-mobile to Global Firmware conversion. I'm assuming you have used the MSM tools previously. If you need any help about that please let me know. Done that quite a few times now. I prefer the last step on Manjaro Linux as I don't have to worry about the drivers for the ADB interface. But I get the idea you have that sorted out. BTW my OnePlus 7T runs OxygenOS 11.0.9.1.HD65AA. I'm not locking the bootloader as I do root it and use it for Kali Nethunter from time to time.

I haven't tried that, but I've flashed so many roms and factory reset so many times it probably won't have any effect. I eventually will try it again and I will keep that in mind. Thank you for the reply though.
I also have HD1907 T Mobile Version of Op7T.
It had global version installed when I bought it (Used device)
It was bootloader unlocked but when I flashed original t mobile rom using msm tool, bootloader got locked as well and I had to apply for bootloader unlock code from Oneplus and wait for 7 days.
Then, after unlocking bootloader again, I tried flashing global fastboot rom. It was unsuccessful and phone was almost bricked
Got errors like 'cannot write to critical partition'
Again had to flash stock t mobile rom after much difficulty.

I'll need to have a look, but think after the first reboot if you reboot into Fastboot and not FastbootD you'd get those problems. Certain .img files only flash in FastbootD. Lol bricked this phone multiple times, but the MSM Tool and EDL is a life saver.

I'm pretty sure I recall that you need to flash the global 7t rom (not the TMO version) IF you intend to flash anything but the TMO stock rom. In other words, don't go from TMO stock firmware to say the pixel experience. So if your bootloader is unlocked, go grab one of the global ROMs (10 or 11), flash that, then factory reset your phone. Your device should report HD1905 in settings as the variant (non-tmo).
I suspect if you're having trouble with multiple roms, you just need to wipe data/cache, then use the link above to flash the global, then factory reset again just to be sure no tmo footprints are left behind. Verify HD1905 is your phone variant, then flash away with whatever you desire. And after that, it wouldn't hurt to factory reset again.
I wouldn't think Jamaica would be a problem, but I truely don't know, maybe someone else here could comment?

Question 2023 T-Mobile vs Unlocked OP 9 Pro

Question:
I own a T-Mobile account. Just went through major drama w/ amazon seller, a T-Mobile phone that wouldn't unlock because it wasn't paid off, and more. Never mind that.... sending it back.
I want to know if I can buy a non-US and/or unlocked OP 9 Pro and still have it work with my T-Mobile sim?
I want in the end, ideally, to have a OP 9 Pro running the very latest Oxygen OS/updates and have it be rooted. But again, w/ a T-Mobile sim.
Advice? Has anyone else faced this?

Don't send back.... Using the T-Mobile app and chat you can be over complementary and ask for full unlock and should be able to get it that way. Option 2 is to use a modded MSM tool to convert to Global, unlock bootloader, us a modded Glo to TMO MSM TOOL to get back to TMO firmware and update. But recommend to stay away from A13 for now

Was your recommendation to avoid updating based on the trouble that DaveImagery was having with achieving root? If so, I can assure you rooting the T-Mobile android 13 update is no different than rooting the global or eu firmware, aside from having to always temp boot TWRP rather than actually install it. TWRP acts up sometimes but it works. I think he was either having a problem with the driver's, USB port, or cable, or something went wrong when he pulled the boot image via MSM tool.

If you got the factory unlocked one then sure, it'll work with a t-mobile sim. The question is whether it will be 100% compatible with t-mobile's network or not. I don't know the answer to that question. It's worth noting however that the T-Mobile variant is slower to get updates, and just got Android 13 this month. If I'm not mistaken, the global and EU variants got Android 13 last year. This fall/winter the other variants will probably be getting android 14, while the t-mobile variant waits until next spring.
T-Mobile updates are slower because they are more refined and sometimes include multiple updates in one update. That is why they are slower..

im on an unlocked (purchased new) OP9 pro and I have no issues. I've always wanted to see if TMO modem works better, but it works great enough that it't more of just a curiosity.

I decided to stay with what I got, esp. as the seller also (belatedly) included the original 65w fast charger. I did a bit of whining. So now I'm trying to get my employer to leverage t-mobile into unlocking the phone, since we've been w/ them a long time and it technically is my employers' phone. (They appreciate my geek interests and are willing.)
If I can get it unlocked, the next questions will be about just how flexible T-Mobile's sim will be with various rooted Oxygen OS's.
I used to root all the time.... my Samsung Note 4 (dang I loved that phone), my OnePlus 2 (rebuilt from 2 broken ones... by me!), and so on. But Samsung's Note 9 wasn't rootable (I didn't have the Exynos version). So I got stuck. This time I bought the OnePlus 9 Pro intentionally in order to play w/ rooting again.
But the whole thing has gotten more interesting. TWRP... does it still work and do the awesome backups / restores of multiple different systems on the same phone? And Magisk.... sheesh... so much I don't know.

TWRP is a little wonky, Magisk is a yess!
If you have no luck through TMO with unlocking the bootloader, let me know. There is another way to do that.

How exactly would that work? I've read that using the T-Mobile->EU MSM allows you to unlock the bootloader without an unlock token, but wouldn't using another MSM to go back to T-Mobile firmware re-lock the bootloader? Would the fact that it's already been unlocked previously allow it to be unlocked again without a token, even after flashing back to the T-Mobile firmware? Mine came sim unlocked and didn't have any trouble getting an unlock token so I never tried the workaround and I've just flashed the unlock token every time.

I have a modded TMO to Glo and a modded Glo to TMO.....I have used it before....
So it is in fact possible to skip waiting for a token. You have to use MSM to convert to EU then you're free to do whatever since the bootloader is now unlocked? Am I understanding? I'd like to personally flash Lineage as soon as I'm unlocked, will the above process work for me?

I believe you. What I'm saying is that according to what I have read, every time you use a MSM tool it locks the bootloader. So you convert to eu, and unlock the bootloader without an unlock token, because this specific firmware is unique in its ability to be unlocked without a token. Then you flash the T-Mobile firmware with another MSM which locks the bootloader all over again, and now you are once again on T-Mobile firmware with a locked bootloader and no unlock token. My questions are:
1) Does the fact that you previously unlocked the bootloader permanently do away with the need for an unlock token, even after you MSM back to T-Mobile firmware and re-lock the bootloader?
2) If so then how do you unlock the bootloader the second time after you MSM back to T-Mobile firmware? Do you repeat the same procedure you did on the EU firmware, or do you just run the "fastboot oem unlock" command from now on?

The way it is done with the modded MSM Tool to go from Global back to TMO it does not lock the bootloader. Can't explain why, but it doesn't. A pure TMO MSM Tool will relock the bootloader. Been there and done both ways.
In a few days I will do it again just to triple check the procedures and create the necessary modded MSM Tool zip files to share.
Another way to get unlock token is by booting to bootloader and run the command to get unlock code. Copy the long list of numbers along with IMEI and serial number and email OnePlus support with the information stating the TMO unlock token website is not working for you and they will generate a token for you. I had to do that when my first token quit working....
