Gently clean the port out with a wooden toothpick soaked in isopropyl alcohol long enough to sightly soften the toothpick. If you have access to proper port cleaning picks, that's great, but this will work in a pinch. I've you've got the port cleaned out, convert it with a bit of duct tape when not in use, or invest in case that covers the USB port. OtterBox Commuter Case, for example. Good luck.

Hey thanks for the response really appreciate it , I tried to thoroughly clean it with isopropyl alcohol , toothpick and toothbrush but still having trouble to connect the phone to my laptop , charging works but still seems to slow charge I'm not sure if it's software related as I'm not seeing any people/forums with a similar problem.☹

Nope fast charge is on , there are many other problems besides the phone not fast charging

Not sure if it's a software or hardware issue. Is transferring your files through a wifi protocol possible for your? Like maybe try an app like wifi file transfer. You can transfer gigs of data in minutes. And then maybe try to reset the phone?

Backing up my files as we speak , I just hope it's software because charging the phone is fine (no fast charging) but not being able to detect any other usb type c gadget is a problem worst is not being able to connect my phone to my laptop

Managed to factory reset today still giving same problems , cleaned the port extremely well too... not sure why but after updating to android 10 the problems started but I don't think it's software as not many people have the problems that I am experiencing

It is a known issue, your phone charging contacts are dirty, or not properly seated. So,try to clean them and fix their position by slightly moving contacts toward display.
I guess you have tried another charger to be sure, that problem is related to phone contacts only.
You can find detailed informations about cleaning phone contacts within xda by using search button of course.

yeah i had exact problem about a month ago, if you have a can of duster for electronics, simply point it about 2 inches away from the slot and give it a few quick burst, dont get too close cuz the liquid could ruin your device.

i cant fina anything about cleaning phone contacts would you be helpful and give me any kind of link?
There's a lot to be said for clearing accumulated pocket fluff - whether with a can of compressed air, or a bent paper clip.
However, the Nexus is definitely temperamental when it comes to being friends with 'universal' charger cables.
Like most people, I've got any number of wall plug chargers dotted around the house - along with a ones I use to charge from the PC - and some seem to work, others don't.
The charger in the car is the most inconsistent. Sometimes it charges fine (albeit without enough power to maintain sat-nav use for any long journeys) whilst at other times it flicks back and forth between charging and not. Recently, it's become pretty much unusable for the Nexus.
I don't think the issue is with the charger itself - it happily chargers my work phone and my bluetooth headset without worry.
I know that there are variations between micro-USB chargers even though they look the same, and fit the connector OK - and know that people more gifted than me are able to open them up, and do voodoo with the wires to make them work/boost their power output.
Can anyone point me towards a (basic) explanation of these issues?

Just leave the phone connected to the PC for a few hours. That usually reset the charging problem with my phones (Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4).

Be careful with the USB connector on the phone. It is best not to try and put any kind of tool into the socket. It is very delicate and fussy, and too easily damaged, and very difficult to replace. It is one of the weakest and touchiest component on the phone. Don't even ug the charger into it ad wiggle it around. It breaks easily. I know first hand unfortunately.

Use a known good USB cable and connect it to your PC. It should charge and transfer data if the tab's port is still good. That being the case, it's your OTG adapter that's bad, obviously. Otherwise, time to repair the micro port on the tab.
Remove the backplate and reseat the two ribbon cables over the battery.
This is a design fault of the Nexus 7. These cables are to long and due to pressure on the back they move in the connectors.
I actually built a ramp for the cables (by raising and lowering it a bit I remove the slack in the cables) to stop weird things from happening.
I personally encountered: Ghost touches, weird charging times (2 days until charged on the lockscreen ), auto rotation randomly didn't work and required a reboot (3+ times a day ).
Does N7 link OK with a PC?
I see you also have LG G3 (D-855). Does the OTG adaptor work on it?

Oh, nice to know
I already built in my third display cause i am a little bit clumsy with my tablet in one hand
Will check this tomorrow
I remember a smal "presure point" on one of the "cable" that brown one which goes over the battery.
Hopefully this will fix it :'(

Yea everything works fine on my g3
I would be happy if there would be a nethunter port for it
But i will change back to Xiaomi the next few months, cause the quality and performance of their phones is just amazing for their price

no USB recognition

Hi.
After searching and testing for hours I don't know how to proceed...
I can't access my phone via USB anymore. The phone isn't detected, no change in device manager on Win7. Only Win8.1 says it found an unknown device.
Quick Charge also does not work like before, but normal charging works stable on every cable.
On the phone, no connection info pops up. I had to set MTP in the developer settings. But it does the charging vibration.
Some testing before, the device was detected in about 1 of 10 tryings, but only with the original cable.
But now, this also doesn't happen anymore.
It worked for about 4 times in a row, after I flashed a 20g flashable kdz over the 20d, but stopped working then.
Could the method that activates MTP functionality be corrupted? (in download mode it also doesn't work)
This all happens between updating to mm and now.
The phone is unlocked and rooted. I use an extended battery and a SD card. A reset didn't help.
The pins of the port look ok. None of the solutions I found did help.
Could the controller or parts of the port be destroyed?
Could my Aukey QC 3.0 car charger do some harm to the device? Maybe when being connected while starting the engine or something like this?
Is the warranty for hardware problems like this void when unlocking the bootloader?

Don't know if that will actually help but just give FWUL a try.
Link http://tinyurl.com/FWULatXDA
This is a live ISO where you don't need any drivers etc. If you have a physical defect it will not help but to exclude windows + driver issues it's worth a try

I gave that a try but it didn't help.
I am totally confused, which type of (bad) usage could result in such a behavior...
It also do not detect my Flir One thermal cam anymore.
How can I figure out if it is based on soft- or hardware?
im having a very similar issue with my g4 , it charges very slowly and shows charging from a USB source instead of AC when plugged to a charger, quickcharge stopped working, and my pc wont recognize it.
i think the problem is a damaged usb port

Today I was in a repair shop for mobiles and the guy heated up the internal pins of the usb port with a soldering iron to exclude a problem with the connection there, but it didn't help.
Next would be to electrically meassure the external pins against the internal pins, to be sure there is nothing broken. But I think, I will send it to LG to check the device for the concrete issue.
The guy at the service said, it could be that some of the flashs did destroy the function which calls up the data connection and that they can do a complete reflash without using the usb port.
But... he also said that the diagnosted issue could be out of my warrenty due to the unlocked bootloader.
If you want to exclude the usb port as a problem, it is quite easy to change the usb port for someone with a good soldering equipment. The port itself does only cost a pocket money and there are some detailed videos on youtube for this. good luck ^^

N5110 charging problem

I have a problem with my note 8.0 for about a month. One time it's charging just fine, the other time it doesn't charge at all... The same with connecting with computer via USB. No matter what cable/charger i use. Suprisingly i can flash it, with no problem and i can connect USB stick via OTG anytime. I also tried opening it and removing battery for several hours, but that only worked once. Anyone has any idea what can i do next to solve this problem?
I use an app called Galaxy Charging Current. It enables you to get a rough idea of what the current of your device is drawing:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abmantis.galaxychargingcurrent.free
For a Galaxy Note 8, it should be around 2 Amps, or 2000 mA, but it's likely to be around 1.7ish. I also use a device like this: http://amzn.eu/9aHm97o which you can also use to check current draw and test cables.
Not much help, but it may help you find out whether the device is taking a charge, or if there's a fault with a cable or charger.

After time the USB port gets loose around its connector, and does not hold the cable end tightly. Try replacement USB port. They are cheap and easy to replace.
Another thing is some aftermarket USB cables have weak connectors. Lightly crimp the center with small pliers as to compress top and bottom. I said lightly. It will put more pressure to the internal contacts so they are snug. May take a few attempts as you may be too light on crimping, but that is a good thing.

Super & Fast Charging Plus USB debugging

Today my phone has stopped fast and super fast charging also when i connect to pc via usb it keeps loop connecting and has error code 10061 connection refused.
I have factory reset but makes no difference. Different cables and charger bricks don't make a difference.
Fast, super charger options are on.
S20 U with February Update
Usb works in downloading mode.
Anyone have an idea how to fix? TIA
I've also lost my fast and super charging after latest update. Factory reset did not fix the issue.
2 nights ago it started superfast charging again, then last night back to cable charging. Still cant connect to usb adb or usb otg.
Wonder if theres a glitch with the firmware.

Have you been able to fix the problem?
Since we cant roll back im waiting to see if an update fixes it.
It occasionally super charges about once a week.
I had rolled back to older versions with no help. I have tried other chargers and other people with my charger and it all worked except my phone.
I contacted my service provider and they asked me to send it away under warranty. I have received my repaired s20 ultra back, on the newest android version and everything is working. They replaced the main board. Turn around was actually very quick, about 4 business days.
Good luck!
Have you guys checked to make sure there is no trash in the USB ports.

Yes i have blown it out, used a shaver cleaning brush inside the port, even run the end of a sewing needle around. Shine a torch in seems pretty clear.
I could connect via usb with download mode with January update CU A8 but had to resort to update.zip this time.
Taking it in to get warranty repair.
