why couldn't samsung modify the viewfinder so that the circled region can be filled by the view like other phones?
It is quite frustrating to see the full screen of my note 10+ not utilizing full screen in camera esp as i am using the 4:3 pic aspect ratio.

Because it has to preview you what and how pictures is took as the phone "views" it.
... Or maybe I totally misunderstand your issue? :/

When I watched the trailer of beauty and the beast a while ago, I realized something that the display of the video is a bit weird. I took a screenshot and maybe someone can help me to identify and solve the problem.
If you look at the picture, the darker part somehow a bit weird, try to play on your own device and see the difference ( i can tell when I play it on my laptop)

Hi,
I am able to notice a crisscross pattern on the screen (see picture below), just really minute. This is quite visible, when I am holding the device at a distance of about 15 cms, from my eyes.

This could be the arrangement of pixels in the screen, the diamond pentile matrix, which I just read about online.
• I am wondering if all devices are affected by this, or is it just my phone?
I have factory applied screen protector on, if it matters.
Some (nice) pictures before the launch :

When i saw the 1st Samsung with curved screen i was not really convinced but now it's a different story ... I think i really like this design. My only concern will be how to protect this screen ? Maybe Whitestonedome will provide something ...
Launch event today (on a ship) :
@t7gc7 Quick question, the curved screen is close to 90 degrees ? I cannot make my mind after seeing these pictures
Cheers
Wife recently got the S9 snapdragon and just received the One UI 2. 1 update so she's on latest fw.
We went to the beach and for the first time using the zoom camera feature the pictures look TERRIBLE.
Do these photos look right to you?
She wasn't that far away.

The S9 doesn't have optical zoom, so all it's doing is cropping and enlarging the image. All that does is enlarge the pixels - resulting in exactly what you're seeing.

The image is rotated 90 degrees and also stretched to fill the screen inside open camera (does the same in google camera go)
