Enabling or creating app shortcuts - MTCD Android Head Units General

I don't know why but on the dasaita's head units they disabled shortcuts to be made but not widgets.
If anyone could please help me find out what I would have to do to make a simple shortcut. I've downloaded tons of applications to see if any of them can, including launchers and simple url shortcut makers but nothing. I think making a widget that can be any app or short cut would be the easiest. I've also rooted my device to see if there's a root app to help with no prevail

not sure what you mean exactly.
But have you tried different homes? Like Nova Launcher, Apex etc?

He means the grid layout on the home screen 5 rows by 7. I'm using Viper Rom and it allows you to adjust how many rows you want. :good:

Hmm I am not convinced. You are talking about Venom rom right? Can you please enlighten me about where exactly is the option for adjusting grid size on the home screen? Its possible to change the app drawer grid size but i havent found the option for homescreen.

Very true my mistake there it is a tweak for increasing app draw grid. Thank you madik for spotting my mistake, I believe it is possible using apex or nova launcher.

Ok that's what I meant BUT I would like to do it on the sense launcher, does the app you mentioned can do that on a sense Rom?

This has not much to do with the ROM. It is a feature for a launcher. In your case the Sense. If you want to change this, you should search for Sense changes.
(I don't know how to change grid lines/size in Sense... I try to avoid Sense)

i get where changing the grid size has more to do with the launcher than the rom, but i was trying to do the same thing. the problem is that when i use a different launcher, i lose the icon pack and some of the other features of the Viper ROM like the extended app drawer, etc. Is there a launcher that will allow you to keep the icon settings and still change the grid size on the home screen panels?

: Bueno:: Bueno: so is the funds are managed by the system is not the launcher
If you mean a different wallpaper for each homescreen then search for multi picture live wallpaper in the play store. Wont work for separate laumchers though.

[Q] Stock launcher Vs Nova Launcher

Greetings,
I have both, but I want to know which launcher gives the best battery life for the device? Anyone knows about it?
Thanks.

After the H update i switched backt to stock. But when i used it for a few days i missed nova launcher. It feels more smooth. I don't notice any difference in battery life.

Does switching to nova launcher still makes me have that part of the steps and smart tips of the stock launcher?
Stock = always best battery but the difference is very minimal so I would go with nova any day
Sent from my Xperia Z2
Unless someone has a concrete objective assessment of the difference my subjective experience in terms of battery consumption is that both launchers, stock and Nova, are pretty similar with frankly no noticeable difference (for my usage)
Personally been using Nova prime for the past 2 weeks and don't think I'll leave it any time soon. Advantages; more functional than stock, most important for me is flexibility of grid size in both home and app drawer in addition to ability to resize icons. More fluid as well

If stock lock screen is maintained yes it works, however tap to lock does work only when tapping on status bar in Nova home, not any where else on screen though!

Yes it does, you can use knock code or double tap to wake with Nova, but you can only lock it with double tap on the status bar.

Yes you are right, double tap on any empty part of the screen. You can also set the home button to lock if on the home screen.
If you buy the prime version, download some screen off APP and you can set a double-tap gesture to load that APP and lock tour device.

Warning about Nova:
I used it on my previous GS3 and I installed it on my LG G3. But I saw that there is a delay before I see a call (= ringing + screen on).
I made a test with a friends and sometimes it rings 3-4 times for the caller before my G3 "wake up".
I came back to the stock launcher and saw that the problem came from Nova.
So now I switched to Apex who is for me nearly the same than Nova.
Maybe It is only me who has this kind of problem, but it worth a test...
So I know this isn't the place to ask but since everyone here is using either stock or Nova. What's the difference between Apex and Nova? I use Apex :/

Apex is sweet too. Not much difference. I own both.

You can make a shortcut to LG Health by going to Shortcuts - activities - LG Health
Hi!
For me, stock launcher is very smooth and battery friendly. At the moment I don't plan to switch to another launcher. Also, in my opinion, the best custom launcher is KK Launcher.
Regards.

[Discussion] App Launcher with functionality of "Home Key to open App Drawer"

[Discussion] App Launcher with functionality of "Home Key to open App Drawer"
I am using Holo Launcher for this functionality since long. This option allows you to open App Drawer directly from navigation bar's home key. What do you use for this option?
Nova

SlimLauncher - it's two years old, but it does the job quite well, and has more configuration options than Trebuchet.
Nova Launcher. Not sure if you need(nova launcher) prime, but you go to gestures and inputs and it is the top clue.

Hmmm not sure. Could not tell the difference between GNL and Nova, so I don't think the difference would be that much.
Nova seems pretty lightweight even with all of it's eye candy

Any way to apply icon packs from Play Store?

Does anybody know if there is a way to apply icon packs from the play Store rather than the ones on the Samsung themes store? There are some amazing ones in play store.
Thanks
Edit : obviously I can install Nova or another launcher but I love touchwiz so rather stay on it.

I'm on my first Samsung phone and run into the icon pack problem as well. TouchWiz goes a little further than most overlays like HTC's Sense, or Asus's ZenUI, so its not as easy, not for me anyways, to just throw another launcher into the mix!
There is a free app on the playstore that allows you to use your preferred icon packs in TouchWiz without any other modifications! Two to be exact. The first app is Zedge. It has been a popular website for a long time to download ringtones, other items and they have an app on the playstore that basically does the same thing, but it also includes icon replacement in stock launchers that do not support custom icon packs. I would not prefer this one due to the fact that you have to choose from the apps built-in icons, not your own installed from the playstore. But as with all others, there may be a few things you prefer about the app besides the icons.
Second, "Awesome Icons" app on playstore. It has an icon option under menu, and it will automatically pull up a list of all your installed apps, and out to the side, all your icon packs, just pick and choose which icons your prefer for each individual app you are going to be using a shortut on a screen!
Only downside is, takes a minute or two. Upside, ability to use icons from icon packs off playstore of your choice! Plus, you can even mix & match individual icons for individual apps you have shortcuts for!!!!
Hope this helps!
zach
As the first poster put it's probably easiest to install a custom launcher from the Play Store.

Love touch wiz? Have you tried nova? So much more to customize and you can make it look the same and act pretty much the same. But better!
On that note every new phone or any time I have reset I try touch wiz. But end up trashing it due to its limitations
I haven't minded Touch Wiz so far actually but I'm sure eventually I'll switch back to Nova.
I have tried nova and dozens of others. I prefer touchwiz for many reasons which are not relevant to this topic. Let's not change the topic of this thread to convincing me to switch to nova ??

Good luck In your effort. If you find out let us know.
There is a reason people use a custom launcher. Icon packs are part of it.

There are lots of icon packs in the Samsung store. Not very nice though
@mahdibassam have you tried Awesome Icons? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.momocode.shortcuts&hl=en
I used it back in the day. Not sure if it still works or would work with the new touchwiz
Alright so I'm trying out Nova again. Is there any way to import my folders from the touchwiz app drawer? Already imported home screens but all apps are loose in app drawer.

Nova sure has a ton of customisability. But touchwiz is a launcher that grows on you as you continue to use it. Sure it might be limited in functionality, but there is a simplicity to it which nova cannot replicate. Plus it's made by Samsung for their devices, so why not keep it?
