Touchscreen issue

IS ANYONE ELSE FACING TOUCHSCREEN ISSUE?
I'm facing some touchscreen issues like notification bar is hard to pull (meaning the edges of the screen is sometimes unresponsive)
Sometimes unresponsive screen while gaming
And the issue is most noticeable when I'm typing (Sometimes keys become unresponsive while sometimes are pressed multiple times even with a simple tap)
I'm not sure if it's a hardware issue or software issue, I'm a bit worried, If it's a software issue then it's fine but an hardware issue will cause me a lot of trouble.
Note :
I'm not using any screen filter app or haven't given any other app to draw over screen permission.

Did you apply any thick tempered glass or screen protector? Some times a thick tempered glass reduces the touch screen accuracy

No, I have a very thin screen protector.

If you are still on Miui 9, update Miui 10 to get better touch experience

Is there an official way without unlocking the device? I'd like to go to 10 but haven't unlocked yet and can't until the end of the week...

Download Miui 10 beta/dev zip file and using Updater to flash

I'm having the exact issue as you described, especially when the battery falls below 50% its even more unresponsive, i tried to use multitouch app then it fails to do more than 5 fingers when flat down horizontally, i asked other whyred users in Telegram whyred Official but they can't explain or others just said its a software issue, so no one really helped me.
I tried to flash all latest firmware of MIUI 9 or 10(except those with ARB 4) and i still having the touchscreen issue, the phone is running perfectly fine in terms of battery & performance its just the touchscreen where i'm having problem, also note that i haven't experienced this on my previous Xiaomi phones that's why i can really tell the difference.
I really love this phone as much as i hate the issue, i hope someone can confirm this issue if its hardware or software related, i would be very thankful.

So, I just download the global beta zip (from the XDA article for example) and apply it through the update settings as a local update? Seems easy.

Yep

I had the same issue in the past in MIUI version 9.5.13.0. I upgraded to version 9.6.2.0 without ARB one week ago, and the issue isn't recur.

i have been using aex ,lineage , aosip amd sevral othe custom rom and now RR , yeah all are same problem sometimes. when the cpu load up high , touch issue will appears, but not always.

At least now I'm sure that the issue is software based. Now I can die in peace

Yes, I am facing this issue too but I am on stock MIUI ROM (9.5.13). This issue is especially obvious when gaming as the screen suddenly becomes unresponsive randomly and I have to lock and unlock the phone again. It appears to be quite a common issue reported by many users but there seems to be no fix? It's hard to use the gestures as well as I have difficulty swiping up to go home or recent apps sometimes. It's incredibly frustrating

I have also the same issue. Using aosp 9.0 pie. difficult to pulldown notification when I am in any app. if I press home then it working nice and no idea what is the reason

So, there is still no answer to repair this issue?

Push Notifications

Hello guys,
Does anyone have problems with the push notifications on the Mi Max 3 ?
I have tried almost anything but can't get notifications properly.
I have prioritized notifications, enabled autostart and disabled the battery save mode.
Nothing helps.
I am on China Rom 9.6.11.0 stable.
Someone still have ideas ?

It's annoying, but you have to do three things for Notifications to always work 100%. I'm on 8.8.9 eu weekly and this is still needed. It's an Oreo 8.1 problem for battery saving:
1) Auto start
2) Battery optimization: no restrictions (this actually might be unnecessary but I do it anyway in case my phone battery gets too low)
3) Most important step unfortunately: LOCK the app in Recents (hold it and press lock icon).

I did those 3 things you mentioned but still no notifications.
I also have a Nexus 6 on Oreo 8.1 LineageOS and no problems with the notifications at all,
i have not even had to change anything.

Ok, i finaly solved it.
It was the Nova launcher together with the Tesla unread app that had not the right permissions.

Mine:
1) Auto start
2) Battery optimization: no restrictions (this actually might be unnecessary but I do it anyway in case my phone battery gets too low)
From above
3) Installed App > {App_name} > Notifications >
Then
'Show notifications' : enabled
Importance : High or above
App Icon badge : enabled
4) If 3 still didn't work, try rooting your phone then convert it into system app

Not sure if this exists in every miui but I found Turn off MIUI optimization this morning while browsing the settings app and had no idea what it did.
I flipped the switch and now I get all notifications imminently:

Also tried all ways mentioned but nothing at al i just get screen light upwith no sound

Search notifcations in settings and set for your apps Importance : High + check sound, vibartion, LED
or u you can change to rom pixel dust or other treble rom, i just installed PD yesterday and all works great zero settings, just install app and notifcations works ..... not like miui

Thanks for your reply but unfortunatly i dont have knowledge to do that . ( rom change ) else than that i changed everything even launcher
I hope someone find something to solve that as i was using mi max 2 with no single problem

Its a cpu bug on xiaomi defected device or maybe how XIAOMI/ANDROID configure its android system/power saving mechanism..it happens to many users but not all..After few findings, theres a lot of xiaomi defected cpu device and sadly enough ive got it on Rn5 pro, mi max 2 and now mi max 3 even Huawei got this problem too..Hope xiaomi/huawei will fix this in the future..Anyway after few research, finding and wasted times, the problem was its system PARTIAL WAKE LOCK was not configured correctly and it is really in deep sleep..this issue will cause in late notification at lockscreen after you leave your phone for several minutes, got led light blinking but no sound, no notification at all, etc which effect some users including me..i tried many things to fix this by changing roms, aosp or xiaomi eu, kernels, disabling doze etc but to no vail until i found this app CPU Awake inside google play store..install it and configure this app with no restriction, autorun and locked it in recent..and youll get all your notification back on lockscreen instantly..there is also no significant battery decrease by using this app (been using this app for quite a few years now)..Even though it has, its a better trade off than not receiving notification at all..you can remove this app from recent after all set up then reboot the settings will applied automatically..never touch the apps again if you want too, good luck and give some feedback..

The fingerprint scanner after update is significantly fast and accurate
You just have to give a good touch to screen and it will unlock
The fact that we are getting update for our devices makes the consumer really confident with the product
The camera should get better soon as well
If u guys see lock screen for fraction of seconds just try clearing up recent app tray for instant fix or just use ur phone normally this bug will disappear
And if it still doesnt work just setup wallpaper again.
This bug appears when u manually try to bring up lock screen by power button or by constant tap on fingerprint scanner
Just clear the recent app tray
The update really is remarkable.

Dont need to wait for animation to get over ...just need to give finger print a good touch which takes less then second and it will unlock ...its crazy fast ...try it

Fingerprint not secure
I have two Samsung A50 (Factory software) and when the Blue Light filter is on they accepting all fingers, even if they are not scanned. Even with a piece of cloth between it.
When the Grey filter, Digital wellbeing is on it accepts nothing...Guys, can you check yours?

No update yet in EU so far. The firmware from India seems to have received a handful of updates already but the official firmware update list doesn't list EU firmware so far.

I notices that after the upate in A50. Fingerprint performance is much slower than the previous version.

Sunday updated A505FN to March update (Serbia, SEE) and nothing magnificent better with FP sensor then before.
Just for a "piece of a hair" maybe.

Maybe a dirty fix but do you have both Face unlock and FP unlock enabled? If yes, I recommend deleting all previous FPs, remove face unlock (delete the registered face), then add the fingerprints again. I did the same and FP unlock feels much faster (even with a tempered glass screen protector). All the best!

Maybe you are right. I'll check it out.
The catch is that this is unstable: I mean 3 times in the row FP works fine and next few times total disaster

New : Fingerprint speed seems slightly improved again.
Others :
• Currently checking out what else is new.
• Testing any battery life improvements.
Note : US/Netherlands etc update patch seem to differ, obviously.

I've updated and there seems to be no such bug you mentioned.
I successfully re-registered my FP and it seems to work fine.
There's slight improvement in FP speed it seems.
Also, FP worked fine even before re-registering them.
Note : I don't know how this transition effect works, anyone ? ( See thumbnail )

Try these :
• Remove all previous biometrics set from facial recognition to Password/Pin.
• Restart your device without any biometrics set.
• Wipe the FP area and dry your thumb before applying for new FP.
• Try switching to other thumb or rotate your thumb. Make sure your thumb ain't sweaty !
Let me know after doing this !

Same here... cannot go above 41 % during registration. Seems samsung goofed up this update.

I updated my phone to New update and removed and readded my finger print. Its working for me.

When you hit 41%, make sure to press hard and hold it for longer. It worked for me the 3rd time I tried. It seems its really fast now.

fingerprint aint working at all.. tried literally everything from wiping cache..restart...straight finger...hard pressing... blue light filter on off.. removed tempered... everything....

fingerprint works great, faster and accurate than before. make sure to keep your finger straight (vertically)while registering and also follow the fingerprint animation

After today's second November update, the accuracy of reading the fingerprint sensor when inserting new fingerprints has been significantly reduced. Either the sensor constantly warns you that your finger must cover the entire area of the sensor or prompts you to clean your finger or the glass of the display. These problems mainly concerned my right thumb when the other fingers were able to enter the cecek without major problems. The whole desperate I tried the method described here on the forum already described somewhere and within the scope of one fingerprint I alternated on the sensor and four fingers of one hand. All I was surprised to find out that I have registered a total of eight fingers at once and everything works great. Please try it, it costs nothing, just a little time. Question Anyone else have touch issues?

shortly after receiving my Pad 5 I started noticing that I had to press harder on the display for it to register
compared to my phone (OnePlus 7T) so I started experimenting and found out that the display won't register finger nails at all
unlike my phone which I can easily use with just the tip of my finger nail. Is it just a downside to the Pad 5 or is it just my unit?
2023 EDIT: This has been fixed by software sometime during the last 1½ years. I can't tell when they fixed it but I randomly noticed it's definitely gone now since I can scroll with literally just my fingernail touching the screen.

i tested mine in CIT test and inside MIUI for 1 minute.in CIT never fail while in miui every 15% of touches doesnt register at all https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ai0uQHZUHJzpgYdPSPfIcfD4ubHZFw?e=sQ5HB3

I guess I'm glad that it's software related and not hardware but still annoying. I'm using gestures and especially the back gestures fails sooo many times. I'm just confused I didn't hear any reviewers reporting this?

same,i compared to my ipad 2019 10.2 and there gestures is working perfectly after 2 years of extensive use.most reviewers using IOS as main drive,they just do quick paid/ reviews for community and dont care about some touch issues/software issues.did you ever seen atleast one reviewer who always do touch screen test?

So I think I have found the root of evil. I tried disabling MIUI optimizations in developer settings and my touch issues were gone. The pad recognized slight touches and even my finger nails now until I restarted it. After the restart my problems came back and the vanced app was set to MIUI battery optimization again. Then I checked my developer settings if the Pad had enabled MIUI optimizations again and to my surprise it was still disabled. So I re-enabled MIUI optimizations and my touch issues were gone again. Here's my guess: I think MIUI optimizations enabled some sort of palm rejection that messes up the touch screen and I believe that restarting the tablet resets the MIUI optimizations setting without changing the toggle. Example: my MIUI optimizations toggle is set to on but I think the setting is off since my touch issues are gone. I will update you once I find out more.

I've read that increasing "pointer speed" in settings helps with touch issues on xiaomi phones. It does feel better so far but it might as well be placebo...

Wow you're right it actually does work! It still won't register my finger nail but it registers even the lightest touches now.

I've contacted support for this issue. They won't recognize it at all. They just tell me to send it to a service center.
