I use LineageOS for microG for the Mozilla Location service and push notifications, but each time I try to update the phone via the updater it doesn't let me decrypt my phone after rebooting.
If I try to dirtyflash the new version via TWRP, I cannot even unlock my phone in TWRP so I'd have to overwrite everything.
Is there a trick to it I'm missing? I havent updated my phone in like half a year because of this. Already lost all my stuff the last two times I tried updating...

My tablet is currently on stock MRA58K. I've rooted it, installed TWRP, and have Xposed installed (if that matters). I've been holding off installing the OTA system update(s) because I didn't want to mess with re-rooting (I see that's not a concern). Anyways, after searching for a fix to my Netflix playback problem, I see that it was fixed with one of the monthly updates (MRA58U). With this information I went through the steps of installing the OTA update (Settings->About Tablet->System updates). The updated downloaded and asked me if I wanted to install it and restart the tablet. Everything looked normal. When the tablet rebooted it booted straight into recover (TWRP). Confused by this, I just rebooted into system from TWRP. As far as I can tell the update didn't install. The build is still MRA58K and I still have the Netflix playback issue.
Is there a way to manually download and install the incremental monthly updates? I don't want to install the full blown factory image and have to re-setup the tablet.
Thanks
Maybe just get some MRA58V ROM since you have TWRP? And yeah, you wont be able to install official OTA with TWRP, you need to be stock for that.
Hi,
I'm fairly new to the Android rooting community, that said I have been jailbroken on iOS since the days of 1.1.2 and have rooting experience with KitKat. I have a Nexus 5X and after rooting, the phone worked fine. I installed TWRP 3.0.2 and Xposed framework, but for some reason I was unable to get Xposed to work. After a week of no issues with the phone, the Play Store stopped working, and Hangouts failed to send messages. I could send SMS via Messenger app and would receive the replies in Hangouts. I did a factory reset, and now I am unable to do anything. I cannot login to my google account, use the play store. Whenever I do anything I get a message that says:
Couldn't sign in
There was a problem communicating with the google servers.
Try again later.
I've searched the web and the forums for issues like this and can't find anything. I would really appreciate the help. It may be a simple mistake that I made as I am not fully aware of how the Android filesystem works.
Also when I check for updates, it stays that the last time it checked was: 12/31/1969. My clock is set correctly and I am connected to Wifi.
Wow!!! What ROM and gapps are you running?
I haven't seen this since my LG G2 a couple years ago. Hop in date and time in your settings and turn off automatic date and time and manually add it... Unless you're saying its right there.
I would try going to TWRP and wiping.
Wipe/advanced and then check every box except for internal storage. Then hit home and go back to install, choose ROM then gapps then vendor.
Xposed has to be installed as a zip from recovery before you can install/use the apk (in 6.0.1 anyway-use arm64).

Unfortunately I can't use data either since I am unable to activate my project Fi service (since I am not able to make any data connection).
I've resolved this by wiping and installing PureNexus. No idea what was going on with the factory ROM though.

Any chance you changed your Google account password around the time you reset the phone? I think there is some lockout mechanism if they detect password change then factory reset. I believe it is something like 72hour hold.
I decided to update my phone from CM13 to CM14.1 the other day without having read anything about CM14 and not realising how new it was (yes I know, stupid thing to do!).
So after the update I've had nothing but problems with google services not working properly, so I uninstalled google services from the apps menu within the phone, downloaded the Android 7.1, ARM, Stock version of GAPPS from opengapps.org and booted my phone into TWRP and flashed the newest version of gapps.
This fixed the issue with google services not responding, however now none of my apps work.
Anytime I try to load an app such as facebook, email, browser. My phone will freeze for several minutes and then the app will just tell me its stopped responding.
Does anybody have any advice on what to do? (I dont care if the result is that I have to wipe the phone and lose everything on it, just want my phone to work again!)
Edit: an additional piece of info, any time I try to do something that requires root access (for example moving an app to my SD card) my phone will tell me that I don't have root access, even though I must because I'm using cyanogenmod...

Try doing a clean flash of the rom along with the respective gapps package. You have to flash the rom and gapps together. And for the root issue, you have to first turn ON root from the developer options in settings.

Scrap this, solved the additional problem I was having.
Thank you for your assistance, all is working well now
Hi guys, is there a way to change the carrier name? The correct name for my carrier is "telecom Italia spa", not "... Italiz spa". Thanks in advance.
So a family member decided it would be a good idea to try and OTA update while I had allowed her to use my phone for the projector for Netflix. I found out when I tried to update xposed + gravitybox from within the xposed app and got errors. I asked what happened with the phone, she said she tried to update it but failed, a notification appeared giving info about enhanced video calling or something along those lines. Now when I go into TWRP to try and flash the xposed update, I get errors saying /system cannot be mounted. The phone otherwise still functions fine. It boots and operates, I still have SuperSU, mods work and the like, but I can no longer make changes to /system and xposed doesn't function as a result. Would I be able to to retrieve and reflash /system from a stock rom and be back to normal, or am I cucked and need to reflash my entire phone?
last night I was trying out a couple of roms (POSP and Nitrogenos) and along the way my phone rebooted to twrp and all my files were encrypted. I rebooted to ABC and everything seemed to be working but towards the end of restoring a google backup the camera, gboard, chrome, and google wouldn't update. got error 190
I checked my file app and all the internal storage is encrypted. No apps are installing from the play store.
I tried (twrp decrypt password) in twrp terminal but nothing changed, I removed my lock password in security and tried again but no luck.
My bootloader is unlocked and I have the latest February firmware installed.
What should I do now? Should I format data in twrp and reboot? it's probably something stupid I overlooked.
Any help would be great.

Reflash your February system images.

I'm a moron
I must have had 2 different ROMs installed on different slots. Data was all screwed up. Some apps worked while others didn't. Couldn't even use the camera. I wiped/decrypted with the all in one tool, booted to TWRP, ADB sideloaded stock and all is well.
I guess flashing ROMs and drinking don't mix.
