ODEX TOOLWhat is ODEX and DEODEX?
In Android file system, applications come in packages with the extension .apk. These application packages, or APKs contain certain .odex files whose supposed function is to save space. These odex files are actually collections of parts of an application that are optimized before booting. Doing so speeds up the boot process, as it preloads part of an application. On the other hand, it also makes hacking those applicationsdifficult because a part of the coding has already been extracted to another location before execution.
THEN COMES DEODEX
Deodexing is basically repackaging of these APKs in a certain way, such that they are reassembled into classes.dex files. By doing that, all pieces of an application package are put together back in one place, thus eliminating theworry of a modified APK conflicting with some separate odexed parts.
In summary, Deodexed ROMs (or APKs) have all their application packages put back together in one place, allowing for easy modification such as theming. Since no pieces of code are coming from any external location, custom ROMs or APKs are always deodexed to ensure integrity. So:
Odex = +speed -customization
Deodex = -speed +customization
I think that you like more speed and less customization (less costumization for dev because is to difficult mod an odex file).
Another explanation is this:
If you odex the rom, you'll have also more space in data (this is important because if you don't have partition ext4 in sdcard, you won't have too free space), increase battery life, more stability and increase perfomance( the Rom is more faster to load system and app) but you can't modifie apk after odex (you can't mod program with classes.dex).
Infact ODEX is an OPTIMIZED-DEX and Android load system and app faster than deodexed (DEOPTIMIZED-DEX) app and system.
When you have a deodex file (a lot of roms are deodexed) you have File.apk in system/app and in data/dalvik-cache [email protected]@[email protected], but with odex file you have File.apk in system/app and File.odex in system/app[/SIZE]
Script DO (it depends by option):
- odex bootstrap
- odex framework
- odex app in system
- odex app in preload (if your phone has preload partition for device like Galaxy S3)
- odex app in data
- remove classes.dex from framework, app in system, app in preload and app in data
- zipalign from app in system, app in preload and app in data
- remove libs from app in system and app in preload because are useless (android wants libs in system/lib not in the apk) to make more free space to odex
- delete dalvik of system, of preload, of data and of framework from data/dalvik-cache
How to odex:
- install zip
- reboot
- open terminal emulator (will be installed automaticaly)
- type su to obtain root permission
- type dexo -h to show possible commands for your phone
- type dexo -one of the option that you have decided
Type 'dexo -(one of the option that you have decided) -log' to create a log on sdcard
--- The phone will be rebooted automatically! --- Please be patient, and don't affraid abou messages pop-up!
Command For Dexo:
+ dexo -bs (odex only boot file, bootstrap, of framework)
+ dexo -fr (odex all framework)
+ dexo -csa (odex only specific app in system
+ dexo -sys (odex all app in system)
+ dexo -fcs (odex all framework and specific app in system)
+ dexo -pa (odex preload partition)
+ dexo -cpa (odex only specific app in preload
+ dexo -all (odex all rom) (bootstrap, framework, system, preload) (NOT DATA!)
+ dexo -dat (odex app in data)
To Use dexo -csa and dexo -fcs you must create a file called csa.txt in your sdcard
In this file you write the name of apk that you want to odex, like this:
Phone.apk Browser.apk Mms.apk Dialer.apk
To Use dexo -cpa you must create a file called cpa.txt in your sdcard
In this file you write the name of apk that you want to odex, like this:
Browser.apk Mms.apk Gmail.apk Vending.apk
IMPORTANT TO ODEX YOUR ROM
To Odex Bootstrap (Command 'dexo -bs') You Must Have At Least 10% Of Free Space In System.
To Odex Framework (Command 'dexo -fr') You Must Have At Least 15% Of Free Space In System.
To Odex System Apps (Command 'dexo -sys') You Must Have At Least 20% Of Free Space In System.
To Odex Preload Apps (Command 'dexo -pa') You Must Have At Least 25% Of Free Space In Preload.

Good Job man but for me installation stopped at 30% on Bravia Engine 3 !
I have installed this without mod Bravia Engine 3 and work fine.

P.S.: Also seems to be stuck for me at 30% when installing Bravia MOD. Left it for a few minutes, said it was writing changes to the build.prop Installed right away after deselecting Bravia.. How long is it suppose to take?

You must flash this mod and confirm it working or not on ICS 19.0.2. So @lesscro must add to rom support
well ... its stuck on logo, flashed twice, wiped cache and everything, just hangs there on the boot screen.

From this rom deleted all chineese apps like baidu search,taxi etc. changed keyboard to universal multilang and chaged /system/fonts for better appearence.

MF, the Baudu things and lots of rubbish software directly put on /system/app.... Not a ROM you can use it as soon as you flash. You have to do some work to make it clean and work.

All chineese ROM's are full of Baidu apps and other crap, yes they all are always in system/app . But you can easily delete them with TB. And most of them has beautiful epileptic colors in themes

to fix the Keyboard problem enter on CWM
- go to "Mounts and Storage" -> "Mount /system"
- them go back, and install: "Install zip from sdcard" -> "Choose zip from sdcard" or "Choose zip from external sdcard" -> Flash the "XXXXX.zip"
- than Reboot
and Yehp, stay working =D
HDMI stay working ;D / Radio need to install ANT Radio Service via PlayStore to work
AND THAT! (Attached Images) CPU clock: 1.7 ghz - Gov.: Performance - i|o:CFQ - GPU clock: 320mhz

I am getting a bootloop
- If you can't boot your phone you're probably doing it wrong, follow op instructions exactly as listed above
- Wipe data (Factory Reset from TWRP: Wipe > Swipe to Factory Reset)
I made a phone call. There was nothing on my screen
- Make sure to make the new phone app & messages app as default from Settings> Default app settings

Solved by not choosing magisk/su at the installation option. Works like a charm. Battery friendly and smooth. Smoother than stock definitely. Nice work.

You need to unlock the bootloader first.
Works perfectly. Huge debloat. No bootloop or any kind of problem.
I've unlocked bootloadr int he past, when I was on MM.
I've updated firmware to the latest (41.3.A.2.149).
I've flashed Latest TWRP (3.1.1-0)
I'm jumped into recovery (the screen i twrp is pink colored, not white, i dunno why, but it works anyway)
I've made a factory reset and flashed this rom
I've keep the sony dialer, i've keep the default other choices)
Finished, rebooted into system and all works great.
Just Magisk ask me to update itself like 5 times, everytime allowed, and then finally works. Just 1 thing: it says "ctsProfile: False". What is this? I need to do something?
Ps4 remote play works only after set up set the flag "magisk hide" on ps4 remote play app.
Extremely smooth UI.
Gain 1k more points( 127957) on antutu....... My actual Xiaomi mi mix 2s has 262k.....

What's the battery life like? Since going to Oreo getting terrible battery drain from cell / mobile network standby. Using existenz 5.5.

the battery life is great, just rmb to flash - LXT (Battery Life | Speed Tweaks). I am using GlassFish profile and it works great on the phone. Best ROM ever.

Two weeks in on my daily driver and I belive this is the perfect ROM for this device.
All of the nonsense has been cleaned out, full control is granted to us, and we still have all the Sony goodies we love our phones for (for me, it's the audio control. SO nice).
Plus, we get some nice to haves like updated fonts, new clock, and (though I don't really care) Apple style emojis.
Great work on this modification!

Most of them....no
