Hi all i think ive bought a duff note 2 my phone has 5gb internal memory, null imei, factory test mode is showing twice on start up,power button when pushed turns off the phone without any options,no imei sticker so all i can find is the serial number using root explorer... i opened up the phone and its missing the flexi cable antenna and has no where for the antenna flex cable to fit on to.. any ideas does anyone know how much a new motherboard would cost and where in the uk i can get one.. also if take this to a samsung repair centre how would i stand
anyone??
Where did you buy it from - give us a link.
And why don't you just return it?
Seriously I think you bought a fake Note (2). There are TONS of MADE IN CHINA copycat phones sold here in HK (most likely online and eBay listings). The exterior looks 95% exact as original Samsungs but when you turn it on, you can tell immediately with the low resolution of the display and the awful looking UI. They should be banning them for being sold....just like those fake LV/Gucci stuff. What a shame.
its deff a genuine note 2 the resolution on the screen is spot on and i can even flash firmwares, roms, root etc i was wondering if i have a prototype note 2 that was used for testing also i got the phone from ebay uk
why don't you just return it?
The person i got it from who was selling it on ebay doesn`t want to know.. this is a pic of the mainboard
pic 2
anymore info about my phone
Call Samsung and offer them their prototype back in exchange for a final release one.
Beamed from Jupiter on my Galaxy Note II
Theres someone else on ebay with the same phone as mine with 5gb internal memory and they are calling it a test model but when i phoned samsung they said they didn`t make test phones for the n7100 confused.com
You need to raise a claim with PayPal/eBay.... But first thing the seller will say is that you have opened the phone and any warranty with them is void
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk (how ironic is that eh)
Did the seller say there was a problem with it?
If not it's not as described and you should raise it with eBay.
How much did you pay for the device?
it was for sale on ebay uk but like a idiot to save on postage i met up half way and swapped my new s3 for it so nothing ebay can do about it. did send the person who had it a message via ebay but he`s not interested..

Sorry for you. I think you have learned an expensive lesson.
once bitten twice shy as they say.. if i could get hold of a logicboard for my n7100 i`d have a perfectly working phone but can`t find one anywhere :crying:
So I got my S7 Edge in silver delivered today from Best Buy. Someone stole the phone and all the contents out of the Samsung box and put the empty box back in the shipping box. WTF???

wow that's messed up.
for me, best buy 100% required a signature.
did you opt out of that on UPS.com?? they won't deliver without a signature...
Didn't opt out. I have expensive things shipped to my office. My boss actually signed for it and didn't noticed anything. The crazy things is, I bought the S7 and S7 Edge. Got the S7, 2 VRs and the 2 64gb microSDs on Tuesday. BB still showed preparing to ship status, but it got delivered this afternoon. I called them to report it and they took care of it and will be shipping me out a new one. Best part is they credited me back $100 for my troubles. That helps since I paid full price for both.
wow! that's some awesome customer service. idc what people say, I love best buy just as much as amazon.. especially because I love best buy rewards lol

Unfortunately all the BBs are out of the silver Edge so I got a refund. It's going to be a month before they get more. Called around other places and no one has them in stock. Sending bad karma to the person that stole my phone!!!

Eff that guy! People are so cruel!
The saga continues. BB has filed a claim with UPS and that has to be resolved before I can be refunded. Hell, I'm not even sure about keeping the GS7 that I already got. May just end up keeping my GS6 and GS6 Edge and forgo the S7 altogether .
The packages are weighed by the package carrier.
If you kept everything including the shipping box and any packing material.
The total weight should prove that the phone (5.54 oz) and any accessories were missing at time of shipment.
This same thing happened with a replacement Nexus 6, to this day I never got my replacement phone and had to fight them with my credit card company to stop them from charging me for the phone I never received.
Those of you who got the gifts i.e. Gear VR, SD card, etc. with your Note 7, please share with us how is in your countries, whether you need to return these items together with phone or not ?
Thank you beforehand.
Here in Slovenia, they want that we return all although accessosries were added as a gift for our preorders.
You don't need to return them anywhere
pre official recall... as in before people knew how to handle it... some did take it back. Others just took the phone
Legal wise they cant ask for it. It was a gift and Samsung is recalling a product and forcing you to return it.
Here in Singapore, we got the lens kit.
I'm keeping that. The lens is good.

Simply untrue.
I only received my Gear VR TODAY from the outlet where I bought my original Note 7 over two months ago! The store has applied on my behalf to Samsung FIVE times to receive my 'free gift' . I have received five confirmation emails yet in the months gone by, with exchange etc, I had still not received one.
On the advice of my lawyer he told me to write a letter to the store outlining the situation. I did that and today the manager of the outlet gave me a Gear VR headset out of his back room stock as the local Samsung importer had informed him yesterday and again today that as there was going to be a total recall on the Note 7 all customers would have to return the free gift!!!!
The manager of the store contacted his head office and was told to give me the VR with the stores best wishes. Samsung's attitude was typical for this country. We have your money now go forth and multiply.
When I am told to return the Note 7 it will HAVE to be in the box with receipt and every single accessory that came with it or Samsung will bill the store! Had I not got a very good relationship with this local store and am an excellent customer I would not have received today the stores gift of the Gear VR.
I said from the start of this awful fiasco that regardless of how Samsung Korea play this out, how each country treats its customers will vary. The American habit of litigation is the reason those in America will be treated totally differently to those of us who live in Europe.
I am stuck with 100.00€ of SAMSUNG cases and screen protectors. I dread to think what Samsung here would tell me what to do with them! If Samsung didn't produce such good devices I would never purchase Samsung again. I accept there has been a major **** up but the way its been handled here is disgusting.

It's official (got e-mail today from service provider) - we in Estonia have to return gift with the phone to get refund or another Samsung phone (S7 or S7 Edge).
Unless it is already official announced and you have read the official statement, else it is still too early to make any assumptions...
Here in Malaysia, before any official statement from Samsung Malaysia was made, people have been spreading "official" rumors that all the free gifts are to be returned to Samsung Malaysia should we opt of a refund. Today, Samsung Malaysia just announced, all we need to return is the Note 7 and its box. All official accessories bought in their or their retail partners' stores can be refunded, provided we can show them the proof of purchase. Those folks who opt for S7 edge will get some extra cash back. Not as good as Samsung US, but can consider not bad.
In the Philippines, I asked Samsung if we need to return the v (welcome gift) and they said no need.
Returned everything today to service provider. They said that promotional gift has to be returned and I did.
At least I could return cases I bought from them and to other shops (and got refunded!).
O2 in the UK told me I needed to return the phone and free gifts, the courier they sent refused to take anything other than the phone. so who knows.
Got a deal from reseller. So not complaining anymore.
CPW here in the UK seem to have wanted the Gear VR back too - I complained and told them I've already sold it on (which is true), so can't return even if I wanted to.
They when relented and will accept just the phone back (not that I've returned it yet).

That's a bum deal. It must just be CPW policy, because I bought mine direct from Samsung UK Store with the free Gear VR and they don't want it back.
Come to think of it, what are they going to do with a used VR ? It's not like they can re-box it and sell it. It wouldn't be particularly hygienic either!
Maybe the staff in the store will... 'find' a use for them and stick them on eBay!
.
Canada I've had to return it.
Yet, if i knew better id put up a fight and would most likely be able to keep my wireless charger and 125gig sd card.

Have you got any Emails to confrim this?
When I spoke to the the other day, they said the wanted everything back.
Well for me, I moaned at them as part of my ongoing complaint, and they have "updated my notes" to reflect the fact that I can return the N7 without the Gear VR. I have this via email so do have it in writing.
Not sure how they would fair refusing to accept a return without it though, considering the situation...

I don't have it in writing but the woman said on the customer helpline, just return the phone. The last recall I didn't even return the phone accessories. It was the phone in a jiffy bag.
The VR was a gift for pre-ordering early. So that's what I did, and that's what they gave. So, if they are forcing me to return the phone they cannot expect the VR to go back too. They haven't asked for it anyway, but if they did they would get the biggest gob full of abuse, no mistake!
.
It's a GIFT. I sent my note complete with all accesories without Gear VR. If someone ask for a gift back in a normal life...how would you call it...rude? Maybe worse....

I am interested in purchasing a used OnePlus 5t as North America is now sold out. I found what seems to be a good device with close to $200 CAD off the original purchase price.
The question now is the device was sent in for a warranty repair, the seller states that the device bricked when they tried to factory reset it for sale. The work done was they changed the motherboard.
Now since the device doesn't have any water resistance, are their any risks or anything to watch it for since the cover was taken off? The device is covered under warranty for another 7 months.
Any feedback would be great. I'm curious about peoples experience with warranty services and the durability of the device.
I just bought a new condition Nokia 8 Sirocco for review purposes and then planned on reselling it, of course I dropped it first day I got it (luckily with the case on), but unluckily it shattered the front glass. Touch seems to work just fine however, BUT...
Nokia won't sell me the part or help me at all since I'm not in the same country as where it is available from their website.
I tried ordering parts through a cellphone repair store authorized with Nokia, and even called and emailed places in both the UK and Canada that were authorized Nokia repair stores, and they are unable to get me the part or repair it for me even if I pay shipping there and back as well as for the repair and part.
The one website I found that sells the part for a very reasonable 400 rs (5-6 usd) only ships within India.
I've wasted so much time trying to figure out how to just get the part, much less have it repaired. If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, or can help me out I'd be incredibly grateful, or if you can sell me the part directly that would work as well.
Thanks for your time !
Front Screen for Nokia 8
China is the main source of cell phone parts. So, I think you should try "Aliexpress". And they can deliver your product in the USA.

hi wiederganger,
i just bought a N8S with cracked screen, too good a price to not, i'd seen an ad via google for replacement screens for £69.99 in UK so thought id get it fixed easily, but when i got the phone i checked out the company on trust pilot, it is a scam, all bad reviews nothing good. I got in touch with nokia uk, they quoted £303GBP (about $400USD) for the repair, i can get new glass put in a samsung S8 for £70, so they are way over pricing it and withholding parts deliberately. i tweeted this info out, maybe they'll wake up as nobody would buy one if they realised the screen replacement cost. imho if they make things that break so easily they should be forced to supply replacement parts by law. or use a better screen that can be dropped, we all drop phones once in a while.
anyway i also searched around for glass only. everywhere in china i can find (aliexpress mainly) sells the whole LCD assembly for about $150USD, which is an option if all else fails. 1 place in india has screen only. again a hassle to get it sent overseas. but first ill wait a while, im sure the parts will become available. luckily this phone is usable as is, ill eventually fix it and sell it before i break the screen then buy another smasung because too much hassle to get parts for nokia. similar to apple who deliberately withhold parts also. just dont buy from these companies. i wont buy anything from nokia again. ill let you know how i get on.
Hi, I dropped my Sirocco 8 in December and the glass was toast but the screen worked okay. I bought it in the UAE and have since moved to Malaysia.
Nokia in Malaysia wouldn't touch it and told me that I'd need to send to the country of purchase for repair. I'm not keen on the idea of sending the phone back to the UAE so I too found the company in the UK (QMF) and have sent the phone to them. They've now told me that they cannot obtain the parts so I'm now scouring the web in the hope that someone can fix this phone for me. I loved this phone and if I'd known the trouble I'd have to get it repaired, I would have either not bought it or wrapped it in cotton wool!
If anyone has any luck with getting their phone repaired, I would appreciate if they could share details.
Have a good one.
I sent my N8S to the said repair shop for £69.99 to replace the screen -3 weeks ago. Today, they sent me an email wanting another £180 more for the LCD replacement. I told them to cancel the repairs and refunds will be 30 days.
