Test kernel for fix cpu frequency limitation.
Compiled for android 10.
https://github.com/followmsi/androi...ers/soc/tegra/sysedp/sysedp_batmon_calc.c#L84
I compiled the kernel with the above changes (psy_imax = 8500000).
Not sure if other firmware will start with this. Check it out.
On my tablet at 25% there is no frequency limitation.
Use at your own risk. I am not responsible for the permanently damaged battery.

Hi Vartom. Which ROM did you test this kernel with? The latest PE + this kernel = bootloop for me. I make it to the Google logo but no further. I'll redownload just incase the file is corrupt (but that literally never happens in my experience).
Cheers!
(Edit1: redownloaded but the bootloop continued)

It boots! And my experience does match what you said: I'm hitting 1.9 GHz routinely at 50% battery and that has not been possible for a couple of years now. Thank you
I tested exFAT support (missing) and I think this is based on an older @followmsi kernel? His very latest includes that feature.

I think this kernel will make your experience better, although I wouldn't want to carelessly run intensive games or other apps with low battery %. It might work, but it might suffer a low voltage system crash. Usually harmless but it can cause data loss or corruption. Your Pixel C (and mine, and others) is trying to throttle because it does not trust the battery's health. In my case I am pretty confident the battery is stronger than my tablet believes. But I could be wrong!

Yeah, I think that my tablet is also underestimating the battery, for a refurbished by Google early 2016 model RMAed in mid 2018, the battery should have been replaced, else it is a new model, don't know but I got my tablet back in bubble wrap
Either way, we're all getting the exact same issue, and it seems LTE models aren't affected
1.9GHz would mean "HECK IT'S FASTER THAN THE SWITCH" memes...
By the way, if anyone knows the 4 cores vs 8 cores Tegra X1 controversy, and why we have only 4 showing on the C even though there's two clusters of 4 in big.LITTLE, that might be interesting, maybe the mighty @followmsi could answer this pls ?

My phone has max performance, it is not lag on playing game for a long time
It is hotter( about 5 degrees)
For me, it is worth to pay
Wow, you don't realize the boost in daily usage, your phone gets hotter-> not good for the battery and all that for some points in an useless benchmarking app... Sounds smart 10/10 would recommend
You have no more thermal engine working..
I used the same mod on my ZUK Z2 Pro before, but it's not useful anymore now with a Snapdragon 845.
We should wait a new Kernel (probably a custom one) with a good thermal management for power.
Do you need more performance in Sd845? Do you run ps2 emulator? Windows 10? Do you work on NASA?

Every power boost are welcome. I still have little frame rate drops in some games.
Rooting this phone is too risky to justify any marginal boost in performance you think you might gain. There is no independent development for the 2S yet, no official TWRP and no official support from Magisk. Multiple people have reported that the unofficial TWRP boot looped or bricked their phones. How does anyone justify potentially destroying their phone when rooting will provide such limited benefits?
Well there is a reason probably why others bootloop probably because of reset I successfully rooted my phone without resetting.
All of u should play Rules of survivle on max setting and u know why i need max performance of SD845

Hi guys,
I have been testing many different ROMs and kernels so far and still haven't found a kernel which really permits underclocking below 1113 Mhz (for big cores) and 633 Mhz (for little cores).
Do you know any kernel which allows setting cores for a minimum of 300 Mhz for instance?
Many thanks.

Maybe Agni kernel do this.
IceCold Kernel up until (including) R3.5 has this feature. The feature was then removed without reason by the developer, but you can still download R3.5.
I'm using (and underclocking) it with Havoc OS 2.5 and it works great.

He removed it, because he thought them useless. What is useful and what isn't, is of course subjective, and I for one disagree with his view. He decided it wasn't worth keeping in; however, the feature was working and not "useless" in the sense that it was incomplete.
Regardless, this is not a discussion for this thread; you may ask him directly in his.
The underclocking frequencies were removed due to the Pie firmware disabling the ability to underclock below 1113MHz.
IceCold R3.5 + Oreo FW should still work.

You know what people also do? Assuming without evidence what other people did/thought, instead of asking them.
I did test and compare, and I do have a measurably better battery life than with later versions of the Kernel. I also didn't complain, I stated how it is.
Grow a thicker skin; people like you are not helpful. Not worshipping every move of a developer doesn't mean not being grateful.
I maintain that underclocking is an important feature to have, others may disagree. Some people want NFC and Wireless Charging, I could not care less.
It boggles my mind, that on XDA of all places you regularly find people that tell you what you do or don't need.

I got the global model, but you should easily be able to convert to EU or global from TMO I think. I honestly switched to the EU firmware because it appeared they were getting updates faster.
11.2.6.6 = 7.7 = 8.8
And it will be again = 9.9
Haven't we gotten full builds for every version so far, so why do you think this one won't get it?

Oneplus, in their infinite wisdom, decided to throttle (scale back the performance) of the processor when certain apps were used, not allowing the app to take full advantage of the processing power. This can cause delays, lag, or general slowness of said apps. If I remember correctly (I may not) there's something like 300 apps that Oneplus throttles.
Not only did they do this, but they tried to hide it, too.
If the Pixel 6 is a good phone, I'll be jumping ship. I've loved OP but this kind of crap (and no OIS on the OP9) infuriates me.
I may be wrong...but wouldn't a custom kernel take care of the throttling issue?

I'm limited myself Aswell but to my understanding when a CPU gets too hot it pulls voltage so it doesn't melt itself. Here's how to remove throttling on the 9 and 9 Pro. It has since been removed but this is a backup.
"1. Then run this command to open shell in your phone to uninstall the Oneplus application .\adb.exe shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.oneplus.config
2. f you see Success after running the command you can Reboot your phone
Now you should be good, try running Speedometer test and see if your score increased"
This is taken from the page you linked in case anyone wants to try it. From what I gather, I removed a system file that has custom frequencies set for various applications, this adb command removes those profiles from the phone so the listed apps are no longer restricted on their CPU usage.

Yes, when a CPU gets outside of it's thermal limits, it will throttle voltage and scale back speed as to meet that limit.
The issue is, the limit of the 888 is far beyond what we "humans" think is ok to touch as the heat gets transferred to the phone.
The silicon can likely get about 100c before it will throttle, but because it is in a phone the chip will probably start to throttle at around 60-70c. Now that will likely not be the case if using the phone for most apps(including Chrome) but using the Adreno GPU will hit that limit pretty fast.
What OnePlus has done is not really necessary, but for the sake of battery life. The microcode og the SoC will take care of things.

Be interested to see what type of benchmark results people are getting on their 6 Pro.
I know benchmarks aren't the be all and end all of how "good" a phone is, but they at least provide some indication and comparison on performance.
