Has anyone else noticed after four/five months or so that the phone no longer wants to fold out flat? Seems like some resistance has build up in the hinge on mine, making it rest ever so slightly still bent. I wonder if that's a warranty-able problem...
Had mine for 5 months now, luckily for me I do not have this problem (I just checked). Did you get dust or grit or lint in the hinge?
Flat

Can you post an update ? Have they fixed your device or did you receive a new one?
Bought mine in January and it already does not feel as flat any more (eventhough I am handling it with care). However I did charge it folded the first weeks. Since I have noticed that I keep it unfolded when charging overnight which seems to make it better during the day.

hej there,
a couple of days ago I noticed this small metal strip at the back of the battery cover to loosen itself from the cover. I can already lift it a little at the top around the cam.
did anyone else experience such an annoying hardware problem (that imho should not happen with a device of such price)?
I'm not sure what you mean... there is no metal strip on the back of my tilt2. It is all molded plastic. Is the touchpro2 different, or did you accidentally post this in the wrong device forum?
i just noticed, that it was a good idea to add a pic...
now, the red arrow shows this metal thing (i dont know, if it is real metal, it just feels like that) and the green one shows the area, where this thing loosens...
How long have you had you phone?
i bought it in the beginning of january this year... so nearly 9 months so far...
mines coming apart too, it is bent slightly, probly cos i have dropped it once or twice tho

Haven't had this happen with mine, but with nine months, as least you should be able to get a warranty replacement for the back cover.
I have the Tab S 32 Gig in Titanium Bronze, I'm on my fourth unit. The first one had a bad speaker, the second one a bad power switch the third on after less than 2 weeks I noticed the back of the unit having what looked like my handprint from where I hold the unit. I tried to wipe it off and it wouldn't come off. as a matter of fact the area that was duller also had a rougher texture to it than the rest of it. I thought wow how crazy this has to be a defect in this tablet there is no way my hands did that. The plastic was even softer in this area I actually scratched it with the flick of my finger going forward.. So I returned that one. I inspected the new one at the store and it was fine. Now that I have had it less than a week the same thing is happening again. My hands aren't sweaty or oily or anything like that. I work with steel all day and if my hand were an issue I'd now it. I called Samsung's customer support and he as well as the Samsung rep at best Buy are telling me to return it again. I'm like why bother it's going to happen again. Even the demo at the store was showing signs of this. The Samsung customer service rep said get another and gave me a case number and told me if it happens again to call back.
Any one else notice this issue?
I bought mine from Costco and it came with a flip cover for free so the back is always covered by the lid when I'm using it so I have no idea.
What is that back made of. It feels like metal with some kind of plastic coating.
Either the place your getting the tab s from has defective tablets or it could be caused by the heat of the tablet causeing part of the back to make that mark. I fixed my heat problem in which the heat from the tablet could be causing it. I have a bump that bumps out a bit idk why. When I fixed my heating problems i dont have anymore ploblems.
My SM-700 back is doing same thing. :/
My 10.5 seems to be fine. No wear problems that I can see.

Samsung had me return it to Best Buy but it was less than a week old at least this unit was. I'm watching it carefully. I would call Samsung customer service because I believe there is a problem that they need to be made aware of and maybe they'll do something for you. Let me know please if they do.
I was very careful with the with the one before this latest one the only thing that I can think of is that Once while charging and the tab was on it got pretty warm, I'm wondering if the heat may have affected it when I picked it up.

Well Mine didn't get hot, but it did get pretty warm. Maybe these units are having a heat issue.
I'm not sure if it was your post but a post near the top a person mentioned bumps on the back of their unit from heat.
Bloated battery?..bumbed out back?..weird..and scary...i have a poetic hardcase,no wear on body so far
Mine doesn't, and I'm not totally sure it hasn't always been this way and I am just now noticing it, but it is REALLY annoying. I sent it back to samsung and they sent it right back to me after looking at it for what I suspect was about 3 minutes and determining its totally fine. Just wanted to see if a couple other users here could post pictures of theirs folded out from the same angle as mine to determine if I should send it back again or just sell it.

This is mine had it since 4th feb
Also added the angle
Looks pretty flat to me. I have had mine since the release so I'm sure stuff has gotten in the hinge over time and ruined it.
It seems like that, maybe dirt...
Iv had mine since 4th feb
Had mine since the relaunch on October and it still folds flat. Looks to be something might be causing it to not be able to anymore. Dirt, debris, or something else but I would get it checked out.
Hi, please see the picture and tell me if it's happened to you, the back glass not fitting correctly after only 3 months of normal use, no drop, and what do you suggest a solution? thank you.
I was just noticing this on mine a few days ago. But I cant remember if it was always this way. I noticed it after my phone got super hot from charging, at 1st I though it was the battery swelling. Device cares app says my battery is healthy. So idk but the seams seem to be consistent all around just wider than I thought they were.

Probably an adhesive failure/improper assembly. May or may not effect it's water/dust resistance.
Needs to be disassembled to be examined/ repaired.
Extreme heat weakens the adhesive bond of the strips used to secure the back panel. It's possible that careful heating and then pressing down could reseat it, but given the cost of the phone probably best to leave it to an experienced tech. Also the adhesive surface may have by now become contaminated with dust making simple attachment impossible without replacing the strip.
Hi!
I have the phone for about a month, it works perfectly and I love it. But in the first few weeks, whenever I unfolded the phone it snapped right to a 180 angle, but in the last few days it seems like there's sometimes a missing few degrees before it's completely flat.
If I unfold it a bit more with a little bit of force (but not much at all) it unfolds completely flat again. Is that normal? Should I show it to Samsung?
Dust.
You should give it a bath

Been doing that to mine since day one. I work in construction so a bath is required to keep it clean.

It could possibly be the bristles inside the hinge that keeps dust from getting inside the device. If those bristles come loose (it's a strip that's apparently glued on across the entire length of the phone inside the hinge) they could possibly hinder the phone from opening all the way flat. That's a wild guess but I read somewhere about the bristles coming loose and creating problems. Anyway, you probably should make Samsung or your carrier (if you bought the device through a carrier) aware of it. The hinge is under warranty so if it fails, Samsung should fix or replace it for free or your carrier can issue you a warranty replacement.

At first I thought this was a joke, but it actually makes a lot of sense. Just to confirm - You really do this? Legit? haha. I also work in a veryyy dusty environment.. Might have to start doing the same!

I wasn't joking either.
I really wash my phone on a daily basis, with soap.

Isn't it amazing how far technology has come
Mine has always needed an extra push to open fully from new.

Mine does exactly the same thing. Sometimes it snaps right open 180 and sometimes it does not. You should not worry about it!

Me too, out of the box I needed to push a little to get it perfectly flat. It has improved slightly after a few weeks but I still need to do it. My Z Fold 3 snapped open flat by itself. It annoys me quite a bit.

I never had the previous Folds to compare but the geared hinge sounds better quality to me. However, I think that as long as our phones snap shut properly and need a bit of force to open then all is well.
Basically once I pull mine open for the rest of the way I'm doing all the work to get it to open fully. I don't feel any kind of 'spring action' assisting me.
This is normal. My Fold 4 has done this since new. It opens like normal to like 175 degrees then the remaining 5 is a bit loose/soft. If I push further to 180 and let go it will kinda push itself back to 175. Not a big deal to me. I feel like the fewer degrees the glass bends the less likely the crease will crack
I had this problem with my Fold 1 and Fold 2. A couple of months after purchase I noticed the phone wouldn't open all the way. Its dust! Push a sticky tape into the hinge and run it along the edge on both sides. It is a tedious process but it should help.
What clothes are you Wear with a lot of dust?
Ok but seriously I have fold 2 above 1,5 years, carry in pocket of trousers and I don't have aby problems with full fold
I had a Fold 2 and Fold 3(x2). Also I had a Fold 4 in burgundy. All of them was completely 180 flat. Now I have a Black 1 Tb fold 4 and have the same "Non flat" issue. For complete flat opening I must push the sides. But it is so since day 1 out of the box. I think it depends on how the screen protector is glued and stretched.
