Guys,
Had a search but couldn't find anything, so unsure if this has already been discussed.
If so I apologies in advance to the original poster.
The Question:
On the Samsung Galaxy S web site advertisement it shows a 'Morning' or 'Home' screen with several icons and a large clock.
Also there is then the 'Driving' screen which again shows several icons relating to applications you will want to see and use whilst getting to work.
Finally at the end of the evening we have a 'TV Remote Control' to take over the television.
Have I missed something but I can't find any of these available?
Thanks in advance for any news.
Are these not apps that will be available from the Samsung Store / Market when it launches?

Well if that is the case then why are we not seeing them?
The Galaxy S has now been out since the 4th June and you would have thought if they showed these Apps runnning at their shows we would now be seeing them live on our very own screens.
Beards sorry to say that Samsung is like that... when i bought my Samsung Omnia II, there were apps that were inlcuded with the phone etc when they were presenting it.. then when i got the unit it didnt have them.. also i wouldnt rely too much on the Samsung App store, its useless.. The Windows Mobile Version was really crap too...
Thanks...
Although I am loving the phone I can't say the same for Samsung.
They even got the battery type wrong in the end.... or simply changed it from being a Li-Pol to a Li-Ion ~ which I've posted on in another topic).
Annoyed by this as well, was sold on the phone partly on things like the remote control app as I have a Samsung TV and the remote for it is absolutely terrible.
Will probably be worth emailing them en-masse to see if they have just delayed the app or hoped nobody would notice.

I know and feel the same as you.
I too have one of the latest Samsung Series 8 TV's and was looking forward to having that remote (my Granddaughter manages often to sneakily get the TV Remote. The TV comes with two remotes ~ a large normal remote and a small ball like-shaped remote which my Wife has by her chair)
I will look for an appropriate email address when I get home from work, we should probably get as many people as we can with the SGS to email them and see what their reply is. Could probably throw in some "false advertising" talk and see if it calls their hand.

That will be geat..... Rather than all of us looking and finding different email addresses it will make sense to have one common address to hit.
I'm all for sending off messages to those that do not deliver as promised.
Let's be honest, if a certain fruit flavoured company did this, they would be looking at a swift invite to court.
are they not part of touch wiz and switched on when you use the home or car docks? Not sure about the tv remote - but i heard that only worked with 2010 samsung tv's anyway (via dlna?)
i believe there are some developer tools that let you fake various dock schemes on the android marketplace if oyu want to check.
Well for those of us in the UK this seems the best bet:

Thank you for this.
I was just about to start sending off a message when I decided to first go to the Samsung-Mobile UK web site and get the names of the morning alarm and car screens which showed the application icons.
Imagine my surprise when I find the movie they used to play that used to show these screens (including the TV Remote) have all disappeared.
Has anyone else noticed these items seemed to be have dropped from the Samsung sites?
Here's the UK one which used to show them.
EDITED:
Okay, I dropped them off an email.
If anyone wishes to use/copy the one I sent please feel free to do so.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to you today in order that I may obtain information as to the whereabouts of various screens and applications that are missing from the previously shown video promotion for the Samung i9000 Galaxy S.
When the Samsung i9000 Galaxy S was first introduced it showed on various Samsung web sites a video promotion of the phone being run outlining various screen uses it would carry out throughout the course of the day.
The first of these screen uses were a 'Morning Screen' which showed the TIME in Landscape mode and had various morning applications.
Next we had the 'In Car Screen' where the i9000's screen had now changed with this time showing (again in Landscape mode) various applications laid out in a pattern that were associated with work/business.
Finally towards the end of the evening we had an 'Entertainment Screen', where one could sit back in front of their Samsung TV and use the i9000 as a TV Remote.
My question to you is ~ What has happened to these screens.
1. Why do we not see these screens and applications on our i9000 Galaxy S as previously advertised?
2. Why have these screens been dropped from the Samsung web site video promotion?
I purchased my Samsung i9000 Galaxy S in part based on the web video promotion and what was shown at the various Live Shows.
Now I find these screens and applications no longer advertised nor available on the i9000.
I look forward to your kind response.
Yours sincerely
Nicely put, I will use the same one, was a little tipsy last night so had to stop myself sending a message in case I said anything silly.
the remote is part of the allshare app - controlls your 2010 sammy tv via dlna. the other screens are dock specific - car and home dock respectively so i assume part of touchwiz.
a bit of googling is all you need to find this out.

Then why has Samsung removed all reference to this from the web site I gave earlier?
Also, ref the DLNA screen...... I don't get any remote showing for my Samsung Series 8 TV.
Well guys, I received a reply from Samsung.... and not one that I was wanting either.
Basically the department have washed their hands of the question and told me to go to 'Tech Supp'.
I've now fired another question to them asking why on earth this is a technical issue?
Below is the reply I received from Samsung:-

Well, I've just sent a similar inquiry via the link provided asking about the missing features and whether I've been mis-sold the phone.
Thanks Mark.
As you and anyone else reading this will understand, the only way we are going to get answers is to voice our concerns and questions.
The more that ask the stronger our feelings should be felt.
The answer is probably simple and clear but to make it that way we have to ask Samsung to 'spell it out'.

Many options are here to allow you to tweek it to your needs. Some of them are more heavy for the battery.
For example, animation are optional, and even when activated, there are 2 modes: fast & slow (slow allows you to keep the animations with less battery consumption: slow refresh rate)
Neat face! I just bought it! So far it's showing zero for my steps. Thoughts on that? A different face I have displays my steps fine. Thanks!
Edit: I rebooted my phone and no steps. I then enabled Google Fit and its showing my steps. I use the jawbone up app for my steps but don't think it should hurt much to also use Google fit.
Is the battery meter for the watch or the phone. Can you add both or have an option to display both?

The battery displayed in the pictures is for the watch. But you can also add the battery of the mobile, as one of the data displayed by the round widgets
Step Counter
Hi,
If I choose Step Counter as one of the display options, I get a "There was a problem with Google Play services" (translated from danish).
Everything else is working, other watch faces (Ticker for example) show steps without problems.

Hi
This is kind of weird, because Google Play Services is a based library of your mobile. Try to reboot your mobile, and if it persists, check if you have the latest update (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms&hl=fr)
Looks good, but 2 questions....
Can I set my location manually (fixed) for the weather? I dont run GPS unless I need it.
And will the sms counter work if I use Wear Messenger. I block the notifications from the built-in messeging app on my Sony Z1 running KitKat.
Just for the record I would also like both watch and mobile battery levels displayed on the watchface. But the watchface could look a little odd with one battery level in one of the circles and the other listed outside seperately. I currently use Weather Watchface which has everything I need...except an unread sms counter!

Hi,
I use continuous glucose monitoring to monitor my blood sugar, as I am a type 1 diabetic. The CGM I use uses Bluetooth to sync with an app (Medtronic's Guardian Connect app) and gives blood sugar data, safety alerts etc., but this app is only compatible with selected Android phones, which doesn't include any Oneplus phones. I really like the Oneplus 7t so I would rather not sell it if possible, so I was thinking of trying to make it compatible with the Oneplus and removing the phone model block. This has been done before with a different medical manufacturer's CGM app ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7t/help/medical-app-compatibility-t4015519 ), so I think it should be possible. Given my lack of programming ability, I was wondering if there are resources anywhere that might help with learning how to do this? Obviously they're not going to tell me "This is how you make this specific app work", but I'm just hoping to find some general resources on this type of coding. I have searched around with no success as I am not sure where to look. I gather it would take more than simply changing the buildprop file to trick the app into thinking it's a compatible phone.
Thanks.
Would help to know the app and what issues you're having. Is it not showing up in the play store? Does it give an error?

Sorry, not sure how I managed to omit all those details. The app is Guardian Connect (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.medtronic.diabetes.guardianconnect&hl=en). I am able to download it, but when I open it it says "incompatible with your device", as it's only officially compatible with a limited subsection of Android phones (https://guardianconnect.medtronic-diabetes-mena.com/en_gb/app-compatibility). However, the Dexcom app that I linked in the first post also has limited compatibility, yet people have managed to get it to work with other android phones, so I'm cautiously optimistic that it will be possible for me to do the same.
I can't link URLs properly yet as I'm a new user, so I had to add those spaces in the links.

Have you you guys tried to email the developer of the app to fix this?

Yep, they weren't helpful at all though, unfortunately - they just gave a generic "keep an eye on the compatible device list" response. In the end I gave up and sold a Oneplus and got a Samsung.
Hi!
I just had contact with medtronic Belgium and they said; the more people call us the more 'problem cases' go to the IT'ers in America. So they mean how faster the problem will be solved so just give them a call

Here is the list of all Medtronic's apps. Download the APK, then select the file from your Downloads folder in the Files app.
You may be prompted about the app being from an unknown source or risk to your device. Ignore the warning, tap OK, yes, or allow if prompted.
Hope this helps and as the post above already said I would consider calling Medtronic customer service and asking them to make the app available to all phones.

Was actually hoping for a work around to use on phones that are not on the compatible list, i.e. for the app to not check for phone compatibility before starting.

I second this; rooted OnePlus 8 Pro running an A12 custom ROM
Personally I've actually come pretty close and was able to hide both Root and Developer Options from being detected using XPrivacyLua, but was unable to get MagiskProps working properly to get around the final "Your Phone is Incompatible" by spoofing as a Google Pixel (one of the primary "approved" devices) message, even after trying multiple older APKs combined with clearing data/cache

Thanks.
Actually the logic behind limiting the compatible devices boggles my mind because, other than replicating the screen of the insulin pump and sending data downloaded from the pump to health care providers, the app does not allow pump to accept commands from external devices. So I do not see what the concern is with allowing more devices to use the app...

There is no logic, just retarded medical industry bureaucracy BS.
I've contacted customer support multiple times and asked them the same question, only to get the same useless response of pretending to "pass on my feedback".
It's actually one of the reasons I wanna find out how to work around the problem even more; like who needs them to take proper control of a medical device that I own.
Would also be amazing to get a Wear OS app that displays the same or similar information to the app, but I don't see that being made by Medtronic for at least a decade.

Hi! Im struggling with getting this app working on my rooted xiaomi. Do you remember how exactly did you bypass those checks with xprivacylua?
Any workaround for NFC working in EU?
We shall rise this question up. Since GT2, we did not get support of NFC outside of China region.
After I playing around the watch with several versions (current/old/beta) of China Huawei Health app, I believe it is a region and firmware lock on non-CN version GT2 Pro.
Basically, the app detect my GT2 Pro is saled in EU, so it provide the firmware update for EU model, even though the hardware inside all models should be the same (all have NFC chip).
The same issue comes with the 301 heart health app, which available for China model, and it allows the watch uses your heart rate data to diagnose premature atrial contraction and sleep apnea, which is a key feature advertised in China for these huawei smart bands and watches.
Again, you might guess, CN GT2 Pro model support this function. And my EU GT2 Pro was locked for this app to recognise.
Since Huawei EU offical state they will not support full NFC functions outside of China.
The only possible workaround is somebody with high skill, that able to flash Chinese firmware into EU model, which might unlock all these NFC cards, alipay, and heart health app functions. If that's still not working, then it will also required to trick the Huawei Health app to believe the EU model as a CN model.
I am not capable of doing these works, but people in this forum might be dig deeper into this topic.

Don't think that will be possible.. Don't understand huawei why they doin these restrictions..
It could be due to the restriction of certain regions, such as the functions of heart health app could be not approved by other country governments, as it is a feature related to human healthcare.
For example, it might require FDA approval to activate this function in USA, just like what Apple watch has done; likewise, the ECG function of apple watch is disabled in China model, because it did not gain the approval by the China government, but people still been allowed to flash US firmware to enable this feature on China model.
I don't have a EU huawei phone, so I am not sure how NFC of huawei phone is like. But I don't understand why NFC is not enabled in non-CN region, simply not make sense.
When you buy a product with its full function limited, Huawei just pissed off its customers, the fault of terrible closed ecosystem.
A small update on heart health app:
I have to install the huawei Health app first to connect my watch to my phone; then install the Heart Health app. Fot CN model, by that time, the second app will automatically connect to your phone-linked watch. But for my situion, what this app said to my watch is: the app does not support current version of this watch. So it is not connecting to my watch.
However, if I using a older beta version of Huawei health app, to connect to my watch; the Heart Health app can actually connected to my watch, but it is not able actually to perform the diagnose, showing error when activated.
So I suspect there are two major problems await resolve.
First, that is a software lock based on newer version of Huawei Health app, which refuse the EU watch to connect to Heart Health app.
Second, the firmware provided to EU model is missing the code for proper heart health function (and of course the rest functions like NFC). So must have Chinese firmware flushed into the watch. And surprisingly, it has multi. language support. What a strange decision.
I own a GT2 not pro, i don't know if anyone is still reading, bear with me if I say something stupid because I'm a complete amateur but I think this could be useful. I think the options are there but hidden. For example two weeks ago I purcheased a watchface i liked with dual timezone but I can't find the option in the menu to set it, some watchface are customizable and I came across another one orribile but that allowed me. I tried to set the timezone and it changed to the one I set on the other face as well. Today I found by chance one that had the alipay logo on it so I decided to experiment and purchased it (you can look it up on the store, it is called "little summer night"). The face doesn't allow you to customise the shortcuts but the alipay one seems to actually work, I don't speak Chinese and the English language in the alipay app is beta so the bare minimum is translated but it seems i was successful in pairing the watch.
Yes, indeed. After successfully access Alipay via certain watchface, now, the only missing part is nfc.

Good (Ciao da Rio Saliceto )
hello i am from a region that cant active the ecg or Oxygen blood please help me to fix this issue.
It's not possible I guess. I didn't find any working method on the world wide web.
To activate ECG on your Apple Watch 7 running iOS 15.4.1 in any country, including forbidden countries, you will need to first make sure that your watch is paired with an iPhone running iOS 15.4.1. Once your watch is paired, open the Health app on your iPhone and tap "Health Data." Then tap "Heart" and then tap "Electrocardiogram (ECG)." You will then see a toggle switch to enable ECG. Once it is enabled, you will be able to use ECG on your Apple Watch 7.

Set Country as INDIA.
That's IT.
It is important to note that using features such as ECG on Apple Watch 7 may be restricted in certain countries due to regulatory requirements. However, if ECG is available in your country or you are willing to take the risk of using it in a forbidden country, you can follow these steps to activate ECG on your Apple Watch 7 with iOS 15.4.1:
Update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest version of iOS and watchOS respectively.
Open the Health app on your iPhone and follow the on-screen instructions to set up ECG.
Place your Apple Watch 7 on your wrist and open the ECG app.
Follow the instructions on the app to take an ECG reading.
If ECG is not available in your country, you may need to use a VPN to access the feature. However, it is important to note that using a VPN to access restricted features may violate the terms of service and could potentially put your device and personal information at risk. It is recommended to use caution and ensure that you are complying with local laws and regulations.
Hi Thanks for the advice! I managed to set up!
