What variant should you buy if you want to root with att and has the Snapdragon processor? Bands would also have to work for signal

Anyone? Is it the f or the DS variant? Or maybe b?

I'm not positive but usually you need Exynos processor to root. That means you'll be the UK or International variant which is usually the F.

It's very unlikely there will be root for the Snapdragon processor if it's carrier unlocked, much less likely if it is at&t flavored. Those were the good old days.

I was planing on getting the note 10 5g before this phone and the "better" one was the China version... They had snapdragon devices rooted in those threads

[Q] CPU question

Hello, I just bought a Tab S 10.5 LTE version. I found out only now that the CPU varies between models, so now I wonder, will mine come with a Snapdragon or an Exynos?
It wasn't written on the description.
Use an app called cpuz to find out what chipset you have and everything about your device.
Yeah I will. But the thing is it will arrive in 3-4 days so the doubt is strong
I was just wondering whether 100% of LTE versions have the snapdragon.

If you bought LTE version, it will be snapdragon 100%. Exynos doesnt have LTE support.
Snapdragons is exclusive to u.s carriers

wrong, here in Sweden both WiFi and LTE uses Exynos 5420, with LTE support thanks to the Intel LTE chip.

All right thanks. That's a bummer :|
From what I've read the CDMA US carriers (vzw + Sprint) have snapdragons, the others have exynos.

Clarification for Snapdragon and Exynos Variants

hi. i have been looking out for this device as im really interested. made some threads here as well. and here is my findings for the new comers or for people interested but confused about the Chipset variants.
EXYNOS variants.
All Tab S, 10.5 and 8.4 have Exynos variants, Be it Wi-Fi only or 3G only or LTE.
3G variants have Data connectivity but only 3G (duh...) LTE means 4G LTE but NON-US Lte bands.
Exynos, did not have data modem in it and thats why previously we only saw this chipset in the wifi only models for samsung tabs.
now they have introduced an Intel/Broadcomm Modem in this chipset and hence the 2or3Grams difference in weight of 3G and wifi model.
u will find, both 32Gb and 16 Gb variants with this chipset so beware!
SNAPDRAGON variants:
there is NO 16Gb snapdragon variant. simple. untill u get the Sprint US model.
there is NO wifi only model with this chipset. u only get the LTE and US LTE model.
this would be only 32Gb model and it would state that on the box, or it would only be any carrier model
my advise, before buying the tab, if u really interested in getting the Snapdragon one, DO CONFIRM IT FROM THE BOX AND SELLER! be it from some store or from some individual selling it.
hope i helped a little
I have Snapdragon version and it is 16GB.
I bought it in Slovakia (Orange)

[Q] Tab S 8.4 as a phone. Which version?

I'm in the US and most of the US tablets have the cellphone functions disabled. I'm on AT&T Currently with a Huawei Mediapad X1 (LTE doesn't work, but HSPA+ seems decent enough)
It seems that if I get an international version the phone stuff is enabled, but then LTE probably won't work in the US?
Just looking for some direction as I'm only planning on buying the Tab S 8.4 if I can use it as my phone as well, I have no need to carry 2 devices.
I'm also finding it hard to tell which versions have the Snapdragon CPU. From what I can tell the CPU performance between Exynos and Snapdragon seems about the same, but the GPU performance of the Snapdragon seems much better. I do play a fair amount of games.
Thanks!
I am not great on the version numbers but T705 is the standard exynos 4G version.
I would say go for one where you can get a firmware for the UK or somewhere else.
My T805 (10.5" exynos 4G) has all the phone functions.

Is your T805 a US model?
So if I pickup a US LTE version can I just root it and add back the dialer app to make it work as a phone? Or do they lock out the phone functions some other way in the US?
Mine is a UK T805, but if it is actually that model, so a T705. It will be Exynos 4G. You got a few websites you are looking on that I can look at the models for you?

If I get an international one from Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LVUUM6A/ref=gno_cart_title_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1QPS08K9FKKNF
That should work fine as a phone and the LTE ones should be snapdragon 800 equipped.
The issue is these international ones won't work with LTE bands in the US
So that's why i'm wondering if I get a US one (LTE bands will work in the US of course) can I somehow get the software on it to be able to use as a phone (As the US disables phone capability somehow)
My current phone is a Chinese LTE phone, the LTE does not work in the US, but I do get HSPA+ which is decent enough, It would just be nice to have US LTE and Phone working...
What network are you using, can check what Bands they are using?

I'm on AT&T, I already know the international LTE phones won't work on the AT&T LTE Bands. I'll just have to live with HSPA+
So you would be getting a T707A if you got the AT&T specific one. or a T705 for the international.
There are no T707A custom ROMs, only for rooting. I guess it will not have phone software Regardless of the version of software on samfirmware.
T705 will do 3G nicely, where I live I get HSPA+ and its quick - only get 4G in town.

Pretty much what I figured, I will just get the T705 international one and just live with HSPA+
From what I can tell all the T705 are snapdragon 800's, That Amazon link doesn't say what CPU it has. I'm pretty sure i'd rather have the snapdragon over the Exynos as the GPU appears to be way faster.
I think you will find the T705 is an exynos. Dont be fooled as with the intel modem they put exynos in their 4G versions.

Hmmm, Exynos CPU seems fast enough, its the GPU I keep hearing is severely lacking with such a high resolution.....
I haven't had issues myself - I have found it fast. Especially if you disable any crap that comes with it you don't need.

Ok, good to hear. It will get rooted pretty quickly and I will remove as much junk as I can...

Are Chinese/Japanese Snapdragons BL unlocked?

For the S8, I read that the Snapdragon variants sold in China (and even HK) had unlocked bootloaders. Is that again the case for the S9?

Too soon to tell but likely yes.
Keep in mind however that those models are pretty much unpopular (no idea why) and rarely see any type of development. So you have an unlocked BL but nothing to flash which sucks.

I asked jesec, who developed the first custom ROM for the S8's Hong Kong Snapdragon 835 that very question a couple of days back and he didn't know the answer. Curious if Qualcomm has the unlockable bootloader on all 845 chipsets but I suppose we'll soon find out.

The only ones which will be unlockable are the ones we are talking about in this thread.
All the US and CAN snapdragons will be locked down tight and a waste of money if you want proper root, twrp erc. its so easy to buy exynos why bother with the snapdragon version unless your on cdma?

What about G9600 (Latin America) model?
Is BL open?

Yes, the Hong Kong variant SM-G9650 has an unlocked bootloader and Samsung Pay on that model works as well. We'll see custom ROM's available before too long.

Exynos doesn't have the exclusive US LTE Bands. For the S9 I see Bands 14, 30 and 71 are all missing. This is a major problem since the US carriers will be shifting more traffic onto exclusive bands.

I live in Canada so have no idea about US bands although i know they have always lacked some for Tmobile. Guys dont seem to have had issues running exynos in the US over the years though?
Ive never had any issues here with exynos at any rate

Canada user - what model should I get

ROOTING
Dual Sim
5G ( not very important )
Exynos or HK Snapdragon version?
Exynos is probably best for root since they can all be rooted, as for dual SIM I don't think any 5G variant has it, so I would assume for dual SIM you would need a non network branded 4G variant if you want dual SIM, or at least that is the case in Europe.

I was kinda between Note 20 Ultra and Note 10+. Am I correct to to understand that if I need Root, I would need Exynos - and the 5G bands of China Global wouldnt work with the North american one and on top, paying that extra for the same Exynos chip is not worth it, so better off with Note 10+
Note 20 Ultra HK Snapdragon has Dual Sim but its rooting is rare - and its 5G bands work in Caanda
Note 20 Ultra US/Canada version has no Dual Sim and rooting is not possible
Note 20 Ultra China Global and Dual Sim + Root but has same chip and 5G bands wont work = Seeing this, should I get Exynos Note 10+ instead so it's actually worth it
